Really mediocre. We come here because there's parking and the hours are good. But it's really expensive and really crowded on the weekends. It's not that expensive when you factor in drying time. I too use Davidson's in Union sometimes, but the savings is pretty minimal, and Showcase is open much later. It's very clean, as laundromats go. Parking is abundant. You can put any whole-dollar amount on the card (whose price is refundable, btw), not simply $20. The staff has always been friendly in my four years going here. Plus they have an arcade machine with all the old hits like Dig Dug and Burger Time. They used to have one where you were a puddle of water and you had to clean up the sink then go down the drain, which was an implausibly awesome concept. It also had Joust. I had the high score on the sink game, but then they switched to this new one. read more

This place is great! They just renovated a little and got new machines and now they have a credit card machine! I can finally pay with credit card! Machines are all different sizes and then the dryers are free! They have free wifi to make your wait better and there is a Starbucks next door! Plus the staff is very nice! this is not a laundromat For The People. they don't give the customers access to the wifi anymore even though there's a separate network for Guests. THE REAL ON THE PRICES: i just spent $13 on ONE WASH for 9 lbs of clothes. $3 for the laundry card $10 minimum deposit on the card (the wash for my 9 lbs of clothes was $6.35 so thats $3.65 guaranteeing i come back so my money doesn't go to waste) now, i maybe could have been smarter about this. i'm 20, i'm new to the game. i probably should've scraped together some quarters and gone to the coin op down the street (yelp told me they accept card but the lady laughed at me when i asked). BUT it seems pretty rude to me that u can only add increments of $10 on ur laundry card at Showcase. They pretty much hook u on their services because u will always have leftover on ur card since none of the machines are priced at $10 increments. i have $12 left in my bank account and i just needed to wash my scrubs for the week, my advice: find a bank and get some quarters for a coin op. one star would be a little cruel because they do a damn good wash. read more

Okay, so you have to buy a card thingie for $3 (rip off) and then put $20 on there before heading to the machines. The instructions on the machines are totally not clear and I put the card in with the door to the machine closed s the thing took $6.25 from my card, locked up the machine and started the cycle WITHOUT MY CLOTHES. The girl working there saw what happened and told me she couldn't open the machine after started. She also couldn't give me back the money I lost. Ridiculous. So, in the end, I ended up spending $25 for three loads of laundry. Yeah, sure, the dryers are free but you're taking it up the pooper for the washing machines. Showcase is super clean, which is why they get a couple of stars from me. And, like Rob said, they're open later than most places. But it's crazy crowded and people are assholes, 'saving' dryers by throwing one item in them while their laundry is washing. Jerks. Now I'm stuck with money on this stupid card so I have to go back again. The Starbucks next door is convenient as is the car wash across the street. However, the dryers only run for 20 min at a time so don't even think about leaving your clothes in there. read more

This place is always such a zoo. Which, as another reviewer pointed out, is not their fault, but this laundromat isn't that great to begin with. The staff is inattentive, the cards are a rip off and it's not that clean. These guys cheat on the front-loaders. You press "hot" and only cold water goes in. You can check by putting your hand in where the soap goes. I read in the newspaper that the biggest cost for laundries is by far the hot water, not the electricity. So these guys save a buck out our expense. Note the "hot" was not even warm. It was cold. I like this place for several reasons: 1) There are many washing machines and dryers available... I don't need to wait for long for a dryer even on a busy day... best of all dryers are free... 2)The place is clean and bright... with big glass doors and windows that you can see outside very clearly that makes me feel safe... 3) There is always at least one staff on duty... you can get immediate help / assistance should there be any problems... 4) A big sink is available which is very important to me for I can do a little pre-wash or rinse off any spills... There are two TVs, one on each end... which is especially good when I am folding clothes... The only problem which bothers me is that recently I find that everything from the dryers smells of sandwich (smell from Subway 2 doors down)... It didn't used to be like that before... but I find this problem very consistent lately... it's a bit annoying cos I don't like to smell like sandwich when I put my clothes on... I guess they share the same ventilation system... so the clothes from the dryers have a very strong Subway smell... not sure if they could solve this problem... If not, I guess I will have to search for a new laundromat... read more

Well, I have persisted in using this laundromat for a while now. It has been cleaner than I had first encountered and the staff is trying to be friendly and helpful. I would give it a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that it is always filled with piggy customers who insist on using twice as many dryers as they need to dry their clothes. Since the dryer price is included in the wash, they use one big machine for their wash and then use five or six dryers for 40 minutes, while those of use with two machines of wash wait and wait for a dryer. I would like to see them charge for the dryers. That would solve the problem and I would then think about giving them a 4 or 5 star review. read more

This place is OK...varies greatly depending on time of day/day of the week. Staff: Varies from very helpful to some guy that won't end his cell phone conversation early to deal with you and when he does get off his phone he doesn't speak any English. The card thing: I don't like it, you can refund them, depending on who's on staff (see above). Crowds: as someone else mentioned it's a zoo on the weekends and some (early) evenings. And a lot of the customers believe in the child-will-raise-itself school of child rearing. So lots of screaming kids. Free Dryers: Not really free, included in the high cost of the wash and it's actually common in the laundromats in the area. Generally good, but as mentioned by others; free gives an impression to the customers that they should use as many as they can. TVs: Forget it. Either on a Spanish language station or children's programming every time I've been in there. Hours: Great Cleanliness: Good Overall, the price for a couple loads of laundry, soap, the Starbucks coffee, and maybe a lunch, you might as well drop it off for the 99 cents a lb. read more

I went to Showcase for the first time yesterday because the washing machine in my apartment broke. It was clean, the equipment worked well, and it was very fast because the machines are very large. It was the middle of the day so it wasn't too crowded. But I want to caution that they do NOT give refunds for the $3 you pay to get a card if you want to give it back. For the folks who posted that, I don't know where you got that idea, they looked at me like I was crazy when i asked to give the card back and get my $3. So, I'll hopefully never need to go there again, but I've got a shiny new card all my own now. read more

Word of caution! When the place is busy people will try to change the temperature of your dryer to high to get your clothes to dry faster so they can get a dryer. You have to pay attention! It will be crowded at these times so it's hard to see it happen. You just have to keep an eye on your dryers. Could be bad if you had something in there that is not supposed to be on high heat. Overall the place is pretty good and you can get your laundry done quickly there. The dryers are free and there is usually something interesting on the TVs. read more

Parking is abundant. The place is always clean. While the washers are a little pricey, the dryers are free, so the cost turns out to be about the same and you never have to make a choice about whether or not your clothes are dry enough. I've heard a lot of complaining about paying $3 for the laundry card, but when you put $20 on the card, you get an extra $1. After doing that 3 times, the cost is made up. Also my clothes seem to be cleaner than the last laundromat I went to on Cambridge Street which is closer to my apt. One time, a washer did not run the spin cycle and my clothes were soaked. We told the attendant and he promptly put them in another washer and ran it for free. The only issue I have with this place is that there is usually a couple of kids running around. They are pretty frustrating, but all the other people have been nice. read more

My washer is broken so I've been using several laundromats around Somerville to get the job done until it is fixed. This place is such a rip-off. I only need to do one small-ish load of laundry. The cheapest washer is $5.25 (20lbs). They charge $3 for a card you don't get any laundry credit for. The value adder machines don't accept coins, so I automatically had to pay $9 for my measly load of laundry - ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! If you frequent this place, it might be worth it to not deal with coins and apparently the dryers are free (which I didn't need), but if you just need to do a simple load of wash, do not go here. The place was clean and open at 6am which was the only reason I went there, the person on staff was tolerable after I freaked out that I almost couldn't do my laundry (barely had enough change). read more

Although Showcase seems like a reasonable place, I found out otherwise when they retro-actively informed me that their larger washers are broken! I put the soap in the "wash powder detergent" section but the detergent didn't enter the machine, the attendant tried to flush it down with a few cups of water when I complained, but it was too late and by the time he got it all rinsed into the machine - started the rinse cycle. All our clothes were soapy and not clean - they refused to re-run our laundry on a working machine and even attempted to imply that I didn't know how to do laundry - that was after they explained that people broke the machine by adding too many clothes, saying now it only pre-washes, and doesn't use the main wash at all!!! It is not worth the money, do not come here. read more

For a laundromat this place is AMAZING!! I've been coming here every Sun. Night for the past 3mos. It costs me $5.25 for a small load & driers are free. I've never seen a cleaner or better maintained laundromat in my life! The washers get my clothes cleaner than any washing machine I've ever owned. The staff is always busy cleaning all the nooks & crannies of dryer vents, soap dispensers, polishing services & floors. There are plenty of laundry carts to shuttle your loads to & fro. There's a decent sized parking lot-never had trouble finding a space. Never far to walk w/ your laundry baskets. There's a very clean bathroom, 2 televisions, & super-friendly attentive staff--one of them actually thought I was trying to take someone elses laundry & questioned it--the other woman was right there to clear it up & prove him wrong---I don't mind. He was just trying to be responsible & protect his clientele. There's a Subway & Starbucks next store for yummies & free wi-fi bleeding through those wonderful Starbucks walls! I love that they're open 7 days a week 6am to midnight & only close on X'Mas. Oh, be sure & bring cash to fill your laundry card-- they only take plastic for drop-off service (Ive never used this service) read more

Great facility. Horrible staff. They have a policy of dry free if you wash here. I went to use the dryers and the attendant was convinced I hadn't washed my clothes there. She wasn't reasonable when I explained exactly what washer, etc. etc. and told me there were security cameras to catch terrible people like me. They sent her a text to say I was breaking the rules, and apparently my basket full of wet clothes didn't speak for itself. Not taking my business back here ever--if only so I don't have to leave with a car full of wet clothes again. Just offensive and unreasonable. read more

A lot of people complain about the card-op aspect, but I really like not having to worry about quarters. With that said, Showcase just raised their prices again and it's a bit out of hand now, particularly for their facility. A medium load is now $7.50 and, while dryers are "free," they're essentially lumped into the cost of washing. Definitely better options in the area. read more

We were on our way to spin cycle Laundromat when we saw the huge sign "free dryer" and swerved to this place. We were so wrong. The washers are $7.75. Yes, almost $8. You can't use coins or cash or credit card but must use their card system, which makes you pay extra $3 to buy the stupid card and I'm stuck with a $2 balance which cannot be refunded but only to be used towards the next visit. No, there will be no future visits, so I pretty much paid extra $5 to use their service, $8 for each washer and we usually use about 5 washers. So even with the free dryer, it's way more expensive than other places. We usually go to the one on beacon st where they charge $6 for the big washers, about $2 for half hr dryers, free wifi, sink, and seats. Also, the free dryers are limited to 20 min so not really free or convenient. Furthermore, there are screaming children, floors are really gross, the machines don't show you how much time you have left so you can't go anywhere, and when asked, the staff didn't understand me and just walked away. I'm stuck here for who knows how long!! Ugh, worst impulsive decision ever! read more

of the laundromats Ive been to, this is by far the easiest to deal with. i mean really, no one likes doing laundry (cant we get some scientists to figure that out). big parking lot next to Starbucks and a Subway. very convenient. close to a Market Basket and a Car Wash if you need to get some things done. they have the huge washers so you can get almost 3-4 loads done at once. free dry set on 20min timers. so spread your laundry out to get best drying. as for laundromats go, its pretty clean. ive actually witnessed the attendant using some vacuum apparatus to clean out the lint traps (quite sci-fi-esque). beware of peak times or be prepared to wait for dryers.. read more

Large, clean, brightly-lit; the washers are expensive but they have several sizes. Dryers are free. The place is always super busy, but most people seem to stick around to monitor their laundry so the dryers cycle in and out of use very efficiently, and if you really can't wait there's a wall of pay dryers which are almost always empty. As others have mentioned, there's a Starbucks next door which is great, and the general vibe is busy but friendly and efficient, meaning that no one's going to throw your wet clothes on the floor or take out your underpants and wear them as a hat (as witnessed at a laundromat in Allston...) if you leave your laundry going for a few minutes while you go get some coffee. There are chairs and places to fold and you can generally claim one. read more

There's nothing special about this place. There's plenty of washing machines but dryers are more scarce. Also, because the dryers are free, many people will split their washed clothes into as many spall parts as possible and dry them all in separate dryers. I get it why people do it but it drives me nuts waiting for one person to finish using 6 dryers. Watch out for the ladies that take up the "free" dryers by throwing 1 item into the top 4 next to each other so they can load them when all their wet laundry is ready to dry.
