I've been going here for the last few years, they must have recently changed owners since the name changed. All the staff are very nice, but unfortunately twice in the last 2 months I've had multiple items ruined from their washing machines. Not socks or underwear -- tonight I had multiple Ralph Lauren shirts/sweaters ruined amongst other things. Granted it's not their fault that other people are careless and leave things in their pockets or something, but still. I tried to take some pictures but my lighting is bad and I have 0 photography skills, But I have attached a few pics of some of the ruined items. All my white/light colored clothes have deep red stains on them. I did not wash any new clothing that would have any kind of dye bleed on other clothing, so I know it's due to someone else's carelessness with the machine. It's a bummer because this place is so close and the staff are so nice, but this is the second time and I'm out a couple hundred bucks in clothing, and I'm tired of gambling with my wardrobe. read more

I live in an apartment building with one communal washer/dryer and sometimes you just need to treat yourself and let someone else do your laundry. I found WashVault on Yelp and texted to confirm I would be able to drop off anytime. I got a response within minutes and dropped my laundry off (all 28 lbs!!) around 12:30. By 3:30, I got a text that it was ready. Both employees I spoke with at drop off and pickup were helpful and kind. It was clean and well-taken care of with lots of space, with a counter where you can get drinks, snacks, and laundry supplies. My wife and I tried this laundromat because our shared units in our building were out of service. Firstly, we chose this business due to it being the only one open at 6:30 or 7pm in the immediate area, which was helpful for us. Secondly, and the primary reason I am writing a review is because I tried using the credit-card reader equipped dryer, and got it funded for roughly 70 min and left the store. However, upon returning an hour later, right before close, the attendant told me that I had accidentally only set it up to run for 5 min! As such, while I was gone, the dryer shut off. The attendant realized this and understood that as they were about to close, that I would have had to take my wet clothes home. So, without a second thought he put money in the dryer while I was gone, so that my clothes were dry when I arrived. He told me this, which I was very thankful for, and then refused to take any money to cover the funds he supplied to the dryer. He was very professional and thoughtful, and I will absolutely be back here again, especially as their prices are less than the units in my building! read more

Tablecloths cleaned, dried and folded for a buck a pound. Sure, maybe you o the plebeian tabletop needs require only a single cloth, but not this party-pounding, poly spread-tossing, linen winnin' wunderkind. I had 19 of 'em, covered in anything from guac to beer mustard, curry to cocoa. Walked in with a big ol' garbage full of filth, left it as The Clothesline's problem and returned 24 hours later to packed, pressed and pristine tablecloths ready for the next round of thrills and spills. And the held the door for me. Boo for being cash or check only on drop-off/pick-ups, especially when your machines are so plastic friendly. read more

Pros: can use credit or debit card on some machines. That was a pleasant surprise. We also got in and out pretty quickly, which was nice. Cons: some of the machines smell pretty gross, so be cautious. The price per load is kinda steep in my opinion - between $3 and $4.50 depending on the size of the machine. No restroom for customers was also a pretty disappointing discovery. read more

I texted to verify information and received an answer quickly. Metered parking on the street means folks weren't parking for hours on end and I was able to find a spot easily. I called the Clothesline to have to wash and drop-off service. Since I am not able to do my laundry, I needed to have the wash, fold pick-up and drop-off. I realized I had another bag and called to see if he can pick it up as he wanted to drop off on that Sunday. He said no, since it was father's day. Okay, fine. In the meantime I called and left a message to request a fragrance free detergent, and nothing else. When he came with the laundry two days later, I could smell the fragrance, and I am allergic. This is my bedding so I cannot place them on my bed. I called him that night, but he didn't seem to care and said that it was fragrance free, which was not true. He just picks up the laundry. I called back the next day and spoke to another person who works there and he text the owner, Paul, to call me about this matter. He said that I should drop it off and pick up. This is something I cannot do as I am handicap at this time. He asked me how I get around. I haven't been going anywhere except medical appointments, and that poses problems for me as I am at high risk of falling. He also gave me a hard time about giving him a check when he came to the door, saying "did you ask me if I accept personal check?" I said that he had a responsibility to tell his clients what method of payment he takes. Paul is very rude. I would not give him any business. The customer service is poor. I felt disrespected, stressed and am wondering how I can do this laundry to get rid of the strong odor. read more

I had been using another Laundromat's pick up and delivery service and was very happy with them but, when they could no longer pick up my laundry, I was forced to look for a new place. I called many places in the Somerville/Medford/Cambridge area and found The Clothesline to be one of the least expensive so I thought I would give them a try. Because I am housebound and had gone so long without having my laundry picked up, I had 4 bags! I called Paul and explained the situation and he agreed to come and pick them up on a Sunday....yeah, a Sunday, and would return the clothes later that day. Sunday morning comes and Paul arrived and bless him, had to carry all that laundry down a flight of stairs, have them washed, dried, folded and then returned to me up a flight of stairs. He picked them up at 10:30 AM and they were returned to me by 4:30 PM. I could not believe it! They were clean, lightly sweet smelling and folded nicely. All I had to do was put them away. Paul was very friendly and willing to help me out. And he charges a reasonable price for all this! I've been going here for years. The staff is, for the most part, very nice. But since the summer most, sometimes all, of the dryers that take credit cards have been out of service. I've been using this place to do laundry about every 2 weeks for the last year and a half. Here's the good and bad and the ehh: The Good (there's lots): - The place is so clean it seems the owners have OCD. I have no idea what Joe H. below is talking about. Even when the weather is LOUSY and wet I don't worry about accidentally dropping clean laundry on the floor. The folks here are always vacuuming, mopping, wiping....maybe Joe's opinion was tainted by the fact that the place is a bit low rent / beat up? It's a LAUNDROMAT, not a Starbucks. In fact I think I've been in dirtier Starbucks. - The washers are great and new - especially the large $4.50 ones that finish in 15 minutes but still get everything clean - There is NEVER a wait for machines - There is almost always parking on the street out front - The people that run the place are super nice, and the TV is usually set to something sort of interesting - The WiFi is free, reasonably fast, and almost always works - There's a comfy bench out front on which to smoke and no one gives you stink eye - It is next door to about 10 cafes, burrito places, burger joints, convenience stores, etc. - It is never too hot or too cold in there. - The dryers rarely require more than 25 mins. to dry any load. - They have dry cleaning too. They contract it out, but the prices are reasonable, they do a good job, and it is pretty convenient to bring your dry cleaning stuff with your regular stuff and do it all in one place. The Bad: - Many of the washers smell a bit moldy inside. It hasn't affected my laundry, but still....is this not repairable? - All laundromats are expensive, and this is no exception. It usually costs me about $12 - 14 every two weeks to do clothes for my wife and I. Ouch. - Getting through the doors with a full basket of laundry usually results in a chafed knuckle or two The Ehhh...: - the magazines could be refreshed a little more often, and could have a better variety of titles for guys - I think I've thumbed through their one issue of Outside magazine about 20 times - The chairs inside are pretty uncomfortable - It isn't the world's most stimulating environment Overall, I love this place. The only suggestion I would make is for them to offer some kind of loyalty discount - i.e. for every X number of loads get a free load? Anything to bring down the cost a little for loyal customers. read more

My local laundromat. They keep it really clean and the attendants are always nice and say hello. They have free wi-fi, but sometimes it's hard to get a seat if they're crowded. Hint: they don't let you sit on the blue tables, but you can sit on the pink countertops. They also do dry cleaning, but I haven't used it yet. read more

I walked into Clothesline with high hopes for a laundromat that I could frequent, since I just moved into an apartment in the area. What I found, though, was a rather dirty place with relatively few washers and dryers. The laundromat closes at 9, with the last wash being at 8. I later found out that most of the laundromats in the Davis Square / Tufts area close at 10, but that's not really important unless you plan to do your laundry late in the evenings. I was there with my laundry, so I figured I'd just do it there once and try other places in the area. The washers start at $2.00 (I've been told by the owners), which are roughly average for the area. Not the lowest I've seen, but not the most expensive either. I actually walked outta there with my dirty clothes looking for another place to go. The saving grace for Clothesline, for those of you at Tufts who are too lazy ("busy") to do your own laundry, is they have a pick-up/drop-off wash-and-fold service exclusively for Tufts. The cost is $205 for a semester or $385 for the entire school year, and you get up to 18 pounds of laundry washed and folded a week. That amounts to a really low price for wash-and-fold service if you use all 18 pounds every week. But I doubt most students have 18 pounds of dirty clothes to wash every week, so I figure that's how the laundromat turns a profit. Still, they have 6 pick-up locations scattered throughout the Tufts campus, making it pretty simple to get your laundry done every week. And all you gotta do is wait at the same place and time the next day to get your clothes back, neatly folded and ready to go. Wash-and-fold service is highly addictive though...so don't say I didn't tell you so ;). I'm just a regular washer and dryer user, so I don't think I'll be going back to Clothesline until things get a little cleaner or cheaper. One thing I would point out is the owners really care about the place, and it's great to see people who are really passionate about their business and who actually listen to their customers. read more

I didn't realize they had 3 or 4 different size washing machines but of course only 1 style HUGE dryer. Prices seem fair to me. Lady working there was super helpful. My husband had dropped his laundry up and picked it up to find there were several missing items. When I went to ask about this, the laundromat reeked of marijuana and the young woman working there was very stoned and talking to her friend. I do not recommend doing your laundry here. read more

Do not have your dry cleaning done here. My roommate and I brought in 2 pairs of nice work pants and a few shirts to get dry cleaned. When I went to pick them up, I found out that they had lost one of the pairs of my nice work pants, which were $110. I gave them a week to try to find them, but they did not. When I returned after a week, a nice woman helped me try to find them, but the owner, Paul, refused to pay more than $30 for the pants. I am a student, so I do not have the funds to replace them. I learned they outsource their dry cleaning, too - better idea to have it done across the street at Hillside Dry Cleaners (they always do a great job). Hope this helps out other students in the area who can't afford to be ripped off. read more

The owners are super friendly and when I left a sweater there one time, they kept it for me until I came back a couple weeks later for my next laundry session. The owners hold the door open for me when I'm bringing my bags in and out of the laundry, and have even helped me carry bags when the weather was awful with snow. read more

Clothesline is as good as it gets - really actually better than as good as it gets because the vendors that service the Cambridge/Somerville/Medford area are inconsistent in their service and unaccountable when items are missing, which happens a lot. Clothesline owner is someone you can talk with and who follows up immediately if there is a question. Being a Caregiver for someone who requires 24-hour care makes me an expert on laundromats who pickup/wash/fold and deliver and Clothesline giver excellent service - they try, they care and they deliver. read more

I had been dropping off laundry for the wash and fold service here regularly until recently. Even tipped every time. I dropped off a load with someone I hadn't met before and picked it up a few hours later. When I unpacked my laundry, I noticed two shirts and a hoodie were missing. Thinking they had gotten lost, I asked if there was a lost and found when I came back next week. They looked, didn't find my things, but said they would keep looking. I retuned and asked again, still nothing. Finally I asked if I could be compensated for my missing clothes, and I was given the owner's number. I reached Paul, who said he looked for my clothes, could not find them, and would speak to the person who had done my laundry. He offered me free washes, but I had lost confidence in the safety of my things. When I asked him to compensate me he then told me that I needed to produce receipts of the clothes she lost or stole. They were gifts, so I could not, although I found the shirts online and sent him a link. Paul refused to compensate me beyond offering me less than half of what the items cost. He then accused me of lying about whether the shirts were even there, demanded that I ask the people I received the gifts from for receipts, and texted me "If the meant so much to I would of called asap".
