I'm not sure if they forgot to include the pork or if this ramen is actually meant to come without any meat. I have a ramen/pho obsessed teen, and we had some time to kill before a flight, and he asked for this place. It is a QR code ordering situation. It is expensive, the staff are nice but as it is a QR code situation you see them rarely, and the food is more than just airport expensive - it's a much nicer meal anywhere else, and the portions are mid. That said, the teen ate his entirely, and finished mine as I didn't think it was that great. I've walked this place at least 100 times and have never stopped. I had 3-4 hours layover in Minneapolis and it's dinner time! As I search around, my fiancée texted me this restaurant. I was like why not. Noodles was my comfort food and it's good for cold time. It has few different ramens, sushi and such. I felt like lighter meals so I opt for mushrooms ramen. A very good choice. Tasty and satisfying. It has 2 different kind of mushrooms and green onions. I like Everything on it. Good portions too. I can't finish it. Now let's talk about service and restaurant itself. They do not have paper menu. You have to use QR code. Not only you have to look the menu there, you also have to order online AND pay it online. The server said well everything is online right? Though I guess nowadays people have smart phones not all have. Then they just won't be able to order here. The restaurant must think those only small percentage. Overall I'm satisfied. I had a three hour layover that I needed to wait out and preferred a place where I could get some work done, charge my devices and get some dinner and this was great for it! Each table had and outlet for each person and simple scan and order system tied to each seat. This made it very convenient so you didn't have to lug your stuff around with food in had to find a place to sit. I was able to get my work in, charging in, and dinner! After ordering, my drink arrived only a couple minutes later, then shortly to follow the food I ordered. I got a dirty martini, miso soup, and a dragon roll. Food was good for what I expected! A great option for airport dining because of (1) good service (2) appetizing plating; (3) spacious set up; (4) power outlets at every seat; (5) it is NOT pizza! Recommended: chirashi (basically sashimi on a bed of rice). I am glad they offer miso soup, the only warm option (everything else is cold). I scanned the QR code at the table (each QR code seems to be unique) and pulled up the menu to order on the browser on my phone. My order was delivered in no time and the waiters were very friendly. A little spendier than the average fast food places in the airport, but on a cold day when all I want is a warm, nicer meal before a flight this is my favorite stop. The ramen is always filling and I've enjoyed all the sides I've tried (some of the smaller sushi rolls and seaweed salad). For the ramen, seaweed salad, and tip, it was $35 total, which I didn't think was horrible for a sit down meal in the airport. The ramen was good -- a bit salty - but flavorful and chock full of fresh ingredients include a soft boiled egg. The soup was hot too. Extremely rude people working there. I ordered from an automated station thinking that I had to order there to sit and eat. When I went to sit down, the gentleman told me I could not sit down because I did not order to eat in there. I showed him my bag that came from there of Miso soup and edamame beans and some sushi. He told me I had to walk down there and get my food and not to sit at this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because I ordered a to go versus diamond. They also charge an automatic 4.5% Hospitality charge. Not that I have a problem with that because I usually give a nice tip but it irritates me when places do that. But more importantly, I couldn't get over the non-hospitality type people they were. Very disappointed and will not eat at this location in this airport again. I feel like I always take a gamble when it comes to eating sushi at an airport, at least the ones in the U.S. I saw a few other places with lower ratings at MSP within walking distance of my gate all the way at the end of all the other "G" gates, and didn't think seeing three stars at an airport is all that bad - in my experience it's close to a win if you find a bite that at least doesn't leave you super disappointed or hungry at an airport. So gamble away we go... The menu set-up is pretty convenient. You scan a barcode at the seat you're at (each table/seat has it's unique barcode so they know where to send your food). Besides sushi, there are other options like noodles and potstickers. I went with the $25 sushi platter, which seems to be a chef's mix of choices. Service felt quick too. For the sushi itself, I normally wouldn't recommend this dish if this wasn't the airport. It was mediocre but I didn't leave feeling sick and it did it's job alright. It met my expectations for average sushi. The worst piece was the chewy octopus, but it's hard for many places to make octopus right anyways. At least the platter came with tuna maki. I wish the rice had a little more vinegar seasoning and leaned a little dry/hard in my opinion, but it's not the worst I've had. Again this place did its job. I actually thought it was an ok experience for the fact that they had a conveniently-placed power outlet right on top of the table, so I was able to get some work done and not leave hungry. read more

Disappointing Experience and Rude Service I was craving ramen and made the effort to walk over from Concourse A to this restaurant in the airport mall. I placed my order using the monitor in front of the restaurant--there was someone ahead of me, so the screen was already on the menu page. I assumed this was the normal ordering process. After ordering, I went inside to wait and was shocked when the waitresses rudely told me I couldn't eat inside because I had ordered from the "take-out side." "I, too, like to live dangerously..." YUP I did it friends: airport sushi. I took the risk and you know WHAT - it paid off big time! I was having the craziest sushi craving as I was walking around on the hunt for dinner during my 4 hour layover in terminal 1. Shoyu appeared and I decided to give it a-go. It looked quiet enough and I was starving so...in I went. I was pleasantly surprised by both the service and the food itself. It is an "order on the iPad" and wait situation, but I was given water and started diving into my work prior to my sushi platter being brought out. There are four outlets per station and MSP has great wifi - a perfect setup for anyone out for business. My sushi was not amazing if going by standard sushi expectations, but AWESOME when going by airport sushi expectations. I sat comfortably for like...three hours and was full all the way up until my flight. I decided against a beverage but it looked like they had a good variety of overpriced wine and cocktail options. All in all, I would totally go back if I ever find myself in the Delta terminal at MSP, and highly recommend if you have an extended layover or wait time. read more

This is a rating for airport food. And for a US airport ramen place, this one is not bad. Whenever I have more than an hour connecting in MSP, I head to the G terminal (the entrance to G and F terminals) to have a bowl of Shoyu ramen. It's either the last Asian meal I eat before I am unleashed to the rest of the Midwest states or it's the meal I eat before I get home (which is usually way too late for any restaurant to be opened). You order from an iPad and pay right at your table with your credit card. This is convenient. I don't have to talk to anyone and I don't have to wait for my check. The staff is usually attentive. They serve a variety of food, from sushi to udon to ramen. I have had the udon, Shoyu ramen, sushi, and tan tan ramen. Sushi is ok. The noodle soups are where it's at for this place. My top picks are the shoyu ramen and the tonkatsu. Again, this is airport ramen, so you have to take your expectations down a notch. I think the shoyu broth isn't bad. I ordered the tonkotsu this time and I think the shoyu is more authentic (LOL). Tonkotsu broth was definitely not as creamy as it should but it's still flavorful enough. The noodles are great in these ramen dishes. Texture don't just right. The char siu pork is flavorful and probably more so than average ramen places in California! read more

Very expensive and most of the staff in charge of the tables were lazy. The only good thing are the charging ports at their tables. In the battle of Midwest Delta hub Japanese restaurants, Shoyu is a clear loser to Sora (DTW). The shoyu ramen was too salty to the point I didn't want to drink the broth. The egg was hard boiled, not soft boiled (or poached as I think the menu said). The ume shiso roll could've used more shiso, but props for having a roll and ingredients that I rarely see in the US. The fried rice (yakimeshi) was so damn good! My husband practically inhaled it!! I got the tempura shrimp udon and wasn't as big of a fan but even my five year old was eating the noodles... The ginger on the fried rice was so yummy. What a brilliant addition. We also bought the little bubble gum and it's very refreshing after the meal. The broth was good and noodles were acceptable. Only improvement here would be if it came out hotter (I want to see it seaming). Sushi = fine. Apps = acceptable. Price = airport dollars, quite overpriced. Was not impressed with their actual serving dishes, as some of the ceramics were chipped. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Shoyu! I was a little overwhelmed by all of the options (there are ~10 different ramens, 5-7 udon, and lots of other sushi/Izakaya type offerings) so was glad that the waitress stopped by to give me some advice. The iPad ordering system is awesome for airports because you can order & check out at your own pace depending on when your flight is heading out, but I'm glad they still have servers to help you out if you need it. I got the Shoyu pork belly ramen and a strawberry jalapeño margarita. I was pleased because the pork belly wasn't too fatty and it was a hearty portion. The noodles were a little stuck together at first but texture was good. I asked for some togarashi to dial up the heat which worked for me but they do have some spicy ramens on the menu if you want to try that. I just got back from Japan a few weeks ago and was glad to finally have some yummy ramen. I can't say it stands up to any of the ramen I had over there, but it was a lot better than the tonkatsu I got at ZenBox, which I wasn't expecting for a spot in the airport. Definitely check out Shoyu if you're looking for some food in G terminal at MSP, but it is a bit spendy, especially the drinks-- my margarita was $14.50! read more

Upon entering and taking a seat (self-seating), we were going through the tablet ordering process and were approached by wait staff. She wanted to make sure we knew how the process worked and brought us out water. The ordering process is easy and the flight tracking is very convenient. We opted for sushi, dumplings and ramen. The sushi and dumplings were very good. The ramen broth (mushroom) was delish - but the noodles were like the packs you get for 19 cents a bag. It brought back (not so pleasant) memories of being a tween or trying to make it to the next paycheck on the cheap, after moving into your first apartment. I'd say 3.5 is a reasonable rating for the food quality- service was great, so I bumped it up. I'd skip the ramen next time. Pricing is ok for an airport- not cheap but not outlandish either. On a work trip to MN, my coworker asked a friend for a good spot for dinner before our flight. The friend recommended Shoyu saying that it was great sushi. As we journeyed in the Uber, we surprisingly ended up at the airport! Apparently the friend thought we wanted an airport recommendation! In any case, Shoyu ended up being a fun little surprise. Who knew airports had sushi... and that it was edible?! The sushi was very fresh and good. Definitely not the best I've had, but a pretty swell airport meal. The prices though... man! I went to Shoyu for one simple appetizer and a Coca-Cola. My first time! My last time. You order on a screen and the table- an innovation you might think would make the process faster. How wrong you are. There were very few customers there. Kind of a lazy afternoon. It took them over 15 minutes to get me the Coke. My food never made it. I had to leave because I had to go. I never got to eat. So I step up to the counter and ask them to cancel my order. They were beyond reluctant. "it is right here!" And I said I'm sorry I don't have time to eat anymore. And I can't take it to go. And god knows how long it was sitting there. There was NO ONE authorized on site to simply reverse charges on my card. The manager contacted me via email. He was nice they refunded my card the next day... but oops, NOPE, they charged my card AGAIN. So I called the number on the website which is some kind of NATIONAL parent company. I had to give my personal information and they would file a report of an incident and then maybe I'd get my money back blah blah blah. When?? Unacceptable! Order at this restaurant at your own risk and pray to God they don't make a mistake. You're in for bureaucratic BS after that. And you'll leave hungrier than when you came in.
