We were there 4/24/26. The server Trey did not want to wait on us and made it clear. I don't know if it was because I'm visibly disabled or what. What's scary is this Trey stated he was a manager. There were issues the whole time with his attitude. (I will say my husband enjoyed his food) I tried to give upper management time to handle it - but it appears they do not care either. That same day I I gave feedback via the shrimp Basket app. Three days later I got an email from the area leader Mr Willmann asking to speak more and offering a free meal. I responded via email with my phone number and that I did not want a free meal - that as someone who has worked in restaurants I felt the situation needed to be addressed by management. Over a week passed with no word back from Mr Willmann so I emailed again. On 5/4 Mr Willmann responded that he had been busy but could he call the next day at 1. I replied that was fine. Two days later it became apparent that Mr Willmann wasn't going to call or even email back. So I emailed him on 5/6 with the full details of what happened on 4/24. The staff is great! Friendly, considerate and helpful. Our waitress was training another waitress tonight and we had double fantastic service. The food was very good and presented well. I had the shrimp and grits and it was as good or better than I have had on the coast at 5 star restaurants. It has real gulf shrimp from USA waters! The portions were large and I brought more than half home. I felt the prices were reasonable for the dish. This same plate would have cost me 28. To 32.$ easily elsewhere. I never leave bad reviews but my goodness I couldn't eat a single thing out of my order this evening. I got it to go but I was there at my scheduled time I was given to pick up and I only live just barely outside the city off Bolte road and my fries were completely cold and hard as a rock. The coconut shrimp had good breading but was rubbery on the inside and I didn't even receive the slaw. When I picked up the order I noticed it was SO empty to be a Friday evening but now I know why. I have enjoyed Shrimp Basket alone and with friends and we've always been pleased with the service and the food. I went there a couple of Fridays ago and stood at the hostess table for almost 10 minutes, wait staff walked past me many times, some glanced and turned away. No one acknowledged I existed. There were many empty tables, I made hand gestures to try to get attention and finally walked out. I was traveling in an RV and pulling a trailer behind and found this place and decided to give it a try. They had a great spot to pull right into with our large vehicle which was really nice. The place wasn't super busy and we were seated right away. Our servers name was Sidni and she was very attentive and got our drinks right away. I got a coastal margarita and it was pretty tasty. If you like citrus/orange this is a great drink to try! Our food order didn't take long at all to come out and it was all hot and fresh. I had the creole shrimp salad roll and fries and the fries were delicious. Piping hot and crispy and tasted really good dipped in their signature hot sauce. The shrimp salad was very flavorful and loaded with shrimp. It had a nice crunch to it from the celery and the roll was toasted so it had a bit of crunch to it as well as being nice and chewy. The manager came out and asked how it was so I had to let him know it was delicious. He told us it was a new item they were trying out that had a bit of a lower price range to help combat the inflation of food costs. I told him I'd definitely try it again if I was ever in this area. I'm a big seafood eater. Love it. I was craving oysters so I thought I would give this a try. When your dealing with something raw you have to handle it and prepare it care because there are so many ways that one serving can go wrong and this was wrong on every level. First off your supposed to clean the oysters on the outside. These still had sand and grit on the and a big smudge on the plate from them which didn't have ice to keep them cool. Which I did eat two but those were the only ones that looked 1/4 way of being appetizing. The others looked like it had the grit in it so I didn't eat it. Also thought I would get food poising if I did eat them.. I'm going to to the beach next week so hoping to get some fresh ones. When I got my main plate which was shrimp basket the turnips where ok better then the ones out of a can that I've tried but still not up to par. The hush puppies are a little over cooked. First time eating here and overall I was pretty happy with my meal. The service was good, the atmosphere was nice and the food was not bad. I say not bad instead of good or great because I had the crab cake platter. The portion was very generous with four crab cakes but the crab cakes were made with a lot of filler/breadcrumbs and the crab was minced really fine. I like to see big chunks of crab. As for the hush puppies, I know they should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but these were hard to the point I was scared they were going to fly off the plate as I pushed my fork into them. Everything else, the salsa, shrimp slaw, new potatoes I had as my side were all really good. The beers were cold and the key lime pie had a good tang to it. I grew up on the coast and have had crab claws many many times. We ordered them tonight and noticed as soon as they were brought to the table they were overcooked. My husband said he smelled ammonia as soon as they were put on the table, but I didn't smell it until I took the first bite. We told the waiter who took it back and took it off of our check. Then a lady who appeared to be the manager came out to tell us nothing was wrong with the crab claws. She said they got them in Thursday and they always smell bad, but nothing is wrong with them. I have never smelled ammonia on seafood before. I confirmed with my family that is still in the shrimping/fishing business who say they smell that way when they're old and typically you get sick quickly. I'm glad we didn't eat more than 1-2 pieces each. They did take them off of our check, but made sure to charge us $2 for a cup of water. read more

We arrived at 5:45, told 25-30 wait. An hour later we were still waiting and only got seated because the hostess heard me complain. Which, I get totally. You can't control seating. But then we were set out in the enclosed patio with no air. Our waiter was so rude. He was young and had a chip on his shoulder. When we asked about drinks he said he didn't know because he wasn't old enough to drink. It took two hours total to order drinks, food, and eat. We waited a solid 45 minutes on food when they weren't that crowded. Several people walked out while we waited because they were tired of waiting on staff for drinks or even acknowledgment. We were brought the wrong drinks, the wrong food, and the wrong ticket. I finally just paid the $75 (without checking and sending the ticket back again) for the terrible experience. I had the crab cakes, they were full of shell and terribly salty. Everyone else seemed to like their food. The book boom shrimp appetizer was great. Can't say that we will be back. read more

Avoid until they get their operations and training straightened out. Went on mother's day with a group of 10. Be aware, there's not much room indoors or outside while you wait to be seated. No wait system or text notifications either, so everyone clusters right outside the doors until a server comes to get you. It took over 20 minutes to get 2 shrimp appetizers out, and the server tried to give them to the wrong table. After almost an hour of waiting with no word from the server who took our order I had to ask another server for help. When our food finally came out, my mother-in-laws food was cold and missing a side, another order was completely wrong, and several other orders had missing or incorrect sides. In this time several other tables had already come and gone. There appeared to be several managers on duty, but none had come to check on us or noticed any issue in all this time. We finally got all of our food, and it was delicious, but in our time there we saw several servers wandering with food and asking tables if it was theirs. As a final touch, a manager comped a portion of our meal, but they messed up and had things we didn't order on the checks. All told, it took us 3 hours from name on list until we left, most of it waiting on a table or food. Not worth it until they improve how they're running their establishment. read more

The cocktail sauce was too heavy on horseradish and the (dill?) tartar sauce needed a little something extra--maybe a squirt of fresh lemon--to make it less bland. I also assumed that the "shrimp slaw" would have shrimp in it, but it was just a run-of-the-mill (bland) slaw. And the one (1) corn fritter is the size of my very small thumb. We ordered through a delivery app, and the restaurant forgot to include our specially requested condiments in the bag, fries, and shrimp slaw. What a great addition to Cullman. Grand opening food quality is outstanding, service impeccable, atmosphere casual, friendly and welcoming. The dining area are spotless and comfortable. Be prepared for a wait at dinner time 20-25 min but its worth it. First impressions mean everything!!!!!!! We are new in town, we have only been here a week and this was our first adventure out in town. The older lady that greeted us was extremely nice and helpful. the young lady that was waiting on us, not so good. We were making a to go order, 2 combo meals easy right, no not at all. ready the menu it said combos come with fries hush puppies, she spoke up and said it comes with 2 sides, ok i asked for green beans and my boyfriend ordered hush puppies and greens. The lady asked if he wanted 1/2 dozen or dozen? he said half. He ordered some fried shrimp as an add on. She charged us almost 60.00 so, heres what went wrong on so many levels,.. first we were being charged for things not ordered that we were led to believe came with. We were charged for a whole shrimp basket that wasnt wanted or ordered. it took about 30 minutes for food to be done, fine if the food was good, not in this case. The fish and fries had so much greese on hem i poured the extra into a cup and wiped my food off with paper towels to get rid of it. i did not receive my green beans. during the time of us checking out. I stated that the price did not sound right for what we ordered. the young ladies had money all over the counter, trying to make change which the one on the register didnt seem to know what she was doing at all. A friend of theirs came in to pick up her check. she stopped checking us out to gives hugs and chat with their friend\coworker. I eveen email the company and this happened friday July 29, 2022. This was our second trip to the Cullman Shrimp Basket. We thought we would give them a second chance since we love visiting the original restaurant in Gulf Shores and the one in PCB. We were disappointed the first time but chalked it up to the fact that they hadn't been open for very long. However, this trip was horrible! The waitress was super annoying and really couldn't answer any of our questions. My husband ordered the catfish basket and I ordered the low country shrimp boil and we ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. The pickles tasted like fish- must've been fried in same oil? My husband's fish was ok but his fries were over done. I didn't think anyone could ruin new potatoes or boiled corn but these were so mushy and overcooked I felt sorry for them! Then there was the sticky, slimy slaw! I took a forkful and it was so slimy that it stringy! I wouldn't be surprised if anyone who ate it came down with food poisoning! Food was great as usual. Service was horrible which can be overlooked if a restaurant is busy but it wasn't busy at all. We were seated and since we knew what we wanted, placed our order at 6:35 At 7:20 we were told our food would be out in about 10 minutes. Ten minutes later the assistant manager came out to ask what we ordered so he could check on our meal. He comes back to tell us it would be out in 20 minutes because the order had just been placed. He was extremely rude when my husband asked why it had taken so long for someone to check on our food but he said he would make it up to us on the check. Our meal arrived at our table at 7:53. We finished our meal and paid our check at 8:20 pm, almost 2 hours after we placed the order and for our time we were given a 10% discount.
