They were busy and ignored us completely. It would have been understandable but they had 3 employees standing around talking and laughing. The guys were goofing around and the girls were hard at work behind the bar. It would have been nice to be acknowledged properly and seated. Because they seemed so flustered we just left. Maybe it was just a bad day. We may try again later but next time at least give your guests one of the many open tables to sit at. There were mostly empty tables and guests standing around. Okay, I didn't like the outside furniture, it feels cheap and not quiet comfy. Wait staff was very attentive and accommodating! Food I order the shrimp Poboy (hey it's in their restaurants name so it better be good) and well I didn't love it- nor hate it. It could have used some special sauce or something... the bun was soggy with some mayo slapped on. If I could give this place zero stars I would, I will never go back. This location has inside and outside seating. It is a popular spot and gets packed at dinner time. Started with seafood queso dip appetizer that was excellent! Chunks of shrimp sunk to the bottom so you had to dig for them with the hot pita chips! Wow, loved it. I also had to try a cup of their seafood gumbo with rice. It was hot, just-right-spicy and tasty. My entree was the crawfish PoBoy that comes with fries and their "signature shrimp coleslaw". The PoBoy itself was perfect, overflowing with fried mud-bugs!!!! The fries were good too but their slaw was weirdly off. I was off balance after trying the slaw trying to determine what was missing. Their Cajun pasta entree was SPECTACULAR!!!!! Penne pasta tossed in a Cajun cream sauce with conecuh, onions, bell peppers, and Parmesan cheese. You can have either shrimp or chicken, the shrimp was small but excellent. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is awesome. The folks next to us at the RV park, across the road from the Shrimp Basket, called it sit down fast food. They were right about it being fast, but the implication was it wasn't very good. They could not be more wrong. I had a Cajun flounder basket, she had fried catfish. My flounder was many small fillets, which could easily have been over cooked but wasn't. It was moist and tender. It came with hush puppies and a corn cake, and I got Turnip greens too go with it. The turnip greens actually outshined everything, I love the south! The fried catfish was well made, good breading, correctly cooked so it was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Her fries were great too. And did not taste like they came from the same fryer as the fish, another good sign. She liked my turnip greens so much she got a bowl for herself. The other thing of note was the coleslaw, which actually has a shrimp component to it, and was awesome. They had two local beers on draft, which worked. Service was good; friendly and efficient, which again beat expectations. If we were staying in the area longer we would definitely go back. read more

Family of three takes in the Shrimp Basket! Boys stared out with fried pickles and ranch and they were good but the order portions are very large. Son ordered the white fish basket and stated that the fish was amazing, fries were over seasoned, and was not a fan of the corn fritter. He does not eat slaw or hush puppies so those went uneaten. I ordered the white fish & shrimp combo and the fish was amazing, shrimp was very good and I loved the fries. The hush puppies were also very delicious and not greasy as they sometimes can be, I also didn't eat the slaw. Hubby got fish tacos that he loved and also enjoyed the fries. He got popcorn shrimp but it did not arrive until we were done eating. The food was good and the meal with tip came to about $100 with tip. They were a bit busy so be prepared to wait as they only had two staff on that day. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the outdoor seating area was perfect for the sunny day! read more

Stopped by this place for a quick lunch in Navarre. First, the waitress/bartenders were among some of the friendliest I have ever encountered. Very pleasant. The service was fast, but the food was just so-so. The boiled shrimp was good, but the fried shrimp seemed very bland. The stuffed crab was one of my favorites. Ate here for the first time last night, on vacation. We have never been to Navarre before this trip and have enjoyed trying out the local eateries. The Shrimp Basket is a low-key, very casual restaurant with great food at an even better price! My Dad had popcorn shrimp, my Mom had clams & I got the chicken strip basket with new potatoes that were to die for! We will definitely be coming back. I would've given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the bathroom. The one toilet in the women's wasn't working properly, running constantly, wouldn't flush & absolutely filthy. I know this could've easily of gotten this way during the dinner rush & no one had time to check it out, but it was very gross. Other than that our experience was great! read more

We came here from Virginia and we had the waitress, Mckinzey she was amazing so polite and so thoughtful. It was excellent service. They staff has great team effort with helping serve the tables. Then I also ordered the Coconut Shrimp Basket for $13.99. This was not good at all. Bland and no sweet sauce. Great dinner tonight at the Shrimp Basket. Our first visit, but based on the variety on the menu we will be back. I tried the blackened shrimp and grits. It hit the spot! Simple and tasty. Overpriced... little portions... not a good experience. I had the crawfish poboy and it was mediocre at best. My wife had boiled shrimp. There were very few and they were tiny. The fish was overcooked, the gumbo was lacking, and the servers were dressed inappropriately for a family restaurant. Would not recommend this restaurant. What a disappointment it was. The chicken strips for the kids were so over cooked that they were hard. My shrimp po-boy had the smallest shrimp known to man on it and on top of it I ordered the deluxe and it looked like a regular sandwich. Everything we purchased was not good and was barely worth the time to eat. On top of that the service was lackluster. My mother talked to the manager and she said they were going through some growing pains due to last manager leaving recently. She didn't really apologize; she just basically said it like we should just deal with it. Not something you do when dealing with the public. I do think for the 45 minutes we waited for our food we got the short end of the stick. This change has really upset my parents since this is where they send family to when they are in town. Well they just need to recommend Rocco's from now it seems if they want a great meal in a timely manner. read more

The not-so-good part was 2 out of 5 adults not satisfied with our food. With one out of five enjoying the food and saying it was good, and another 2 out of five stating it was 'okay'. Kind of a tourist trap in my opinion. We saw a plane flying a banner that they had "all you can eat shrimp" along the beach and our boys just had to go! There were so many people the night we went that we had to wait outside in the heat for a long time before being seated, and the servers, hostess generally seemed very overwhelmed by the crowd of hungry people in such a small restaurant. It took a long time to be seated, and an even longer time to be served our food after ordering. The server missed essential things like Ketchup, and the food took so long, that it was painful to order anything additional after going for the "all you can eat" part. Food was "ok." Shrimp were slightly overcooked in my opinion (passable, but not great), and overall, the food was pretty salty. I didn't care for the slaw either. I think our money would have been better spent somewhere else - pretty expensive for what you actually got. There are nicer places to go in Navarre at this price point. read more
