My family had a wonderful experience last night at the shrimp basket. Our server was Mackenzie and she was the BEST part of our evening. I have to give credit when's it's due and she deserves it all. My Hubby and I had been at the beach all day soaking up the sun and were hungry for shrimp. So I began searching for what else? Shrimp! We debated how we wanted our shrimp- fried, boiled, etc. It was a Forrest Gump moment, so finally we decided that this place should have whatever we were craving. We sat outside in the cool of the evening. Our server, Bailey brought us cold beers to sip on while we waited for our shrimp baskets. Everything came out hot and fresh! We ate until we were satisfied, and took ToGo boxes for all of the leftovers. We had enough for shrimp po boys the next day. The price was good, the food was good and the "beachy" atmosphere was good for what we wanted. Worst quality of food I've tasted in a while.... There's another restaurant that I like that costs less and has way better quality of food, which is Scooter's Fish House. Food was okay, wait was okay. Wouldn't have minded the wait if the food and service had been better. Husband got grilled fish, but only got the fish and hush puppies. They said his side would be coming right out. After a while we asked someone to get our waitress twice. We finally asked another waitress about the slaw and fritter that was supposed to come with it plus the side that hadn't come out yet. She was more helpful than our own waitress. Not sure why the slaw is supposed to be famous, it's nothing special. Worse food and longest wait we had the whole time we were in Navarre. Another table had a lot of issues also. read more

Do yourself a big favor.  Spend the extra money and go to Dewey's.  I had a whitefish platter here and it was awful!  The fish itself tasted okay, but the crust was so rubbery I couldn't eat it.  After Dewey's delucious catfish yesterday this was tragic.  Talking about bad, the hush puppies were like rubber pucks. The hush puppies at Dewey's are worth driving from the Midwest for.  Others in my party got shrimp poboy and shrimp basket.  The best thing on our plates was the tarter sauce.  I am in no way afiliated with either Shrimp Shack or Dewey's, but I'm about to leave Dewey's a five star review. read more

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could! Shrimp Basket used to be our go to place when we came to Navarre--but never again! steer clear of here at all costs! their pina coladas are now out of machine and awful, but we loved their oysters on the half shell, so we tried to give them another chance at dinner time (5:30pm CST) and they told us it would be a 5-10 minute wait which turned into 45 minutes and then right in front of us they lied to other customers who came in and asked how long the wait was just to keep them there by telling them too that it would only be a 5-10 minute wait--when they knew it would be at least an hour. after waiting a little over an hour we finally just left and got dinner elsewhere. what's worse is they had at least 6 open tables out of a total of about 15 and were still making people wait (and at peak dinner time at that). so, either get more servers or at a minimum be honest with potential customers about the wait time and then let them decide if they want to stay or go somewhere elsewhere! then when I called later to speak to the manager, the person who answered the phone wouldn't let me, so you decide for yourself on whether you want to spend your time or money at this establishment. as for me and my family, we'll be taking our business elsewhere! read more

We were in town on vacation and wanted to try a local place. Food was good. We felt bad for our server Autumn. She had 2 very large groups ( 10+) and us. My family likes to visit this location every year while we are on vacation because it is usually pretty good food, but we unfortunately left disappointed this time. While our meal was decent, most of the staff did not seem to take CDC guidelines very seriously. When we walked in, we were greeted by a hostess that had her mask at her neck, who told us to find a table outside and they would come out and clean it once we sat down. Most restaurants are cleaning tables and chairs between customer exchanges, so this was very odd to us. The entire time we ate, we watched as almost the whole staff walked around talking to customers and serving meals with their masks down at their necks. While we understand that not every restaurant chooses to enforce masks, it seemed as if they were supposed to be wearing them but choosing not to. Very disappointing. We've eaten at other Shrimp Baskets and this one was mediocre at best. We ordered the Blackened Whitefish with a side of cheese grits, Redfish and 2 shrimp baskets. Food was slow to arrive and cheese grits were served cold. When I asked the server to replace them, she took my order of cheese grits to the back and reheated them in the styrofoam container they came in and brought them back to the table reheated in the same styrofoam container. When I asked her if she re-heated them in the styrofoam container, she said "yes". Big "No No!" Other food was warm but nothing was served hot. Ok in a pinch but certainly not anything I would look forward to. Better off hitting Walmart for some Tostino Pizza bites. They are just as mediocre as the meal we were just served at The Shrimp Basket. read more

If you're looking for some good, quick seafood, Shrimp Basket definitely delivers. We stopped by here after a few hours on the beach to escape the rain and grab some lunch. I got the blackened fish and the blackened shrimp. Both were delicious and hit the spot. Definitely helped start the vacation off on a good foot. Only downside to the place is that it is small, and not much parking. But the food is good, esp for the price. read more

The Navarre location today served oysters that were obviously shucked by someone with no experience . They looked awful, and had shell bits all in it. We sent them back. The young waitress was sweet but had no training in the basic food ingredients. (Not her fault) The meals were overcooked, and we were less than impressed by the overpriced, very small amounts of coleslaw and gumbo. Very simple place- plastic chairs and tables outside, inside seating is small and loud. The food is good, nothing fancy. Prices aren't exorbant. ($6- $20) The problem is EVERY time we come to eat, we are seated and then we wait...for no less than 10 to 15 minutes for a waitress. This is to even order a drink! It is so frustrating. When you get a waitress, they are very nice. But waiting when you have a family and everyone is "hangry", that is what causes the 3 star rating. read more

Mmmm, fried food!! It was surprisingly busy for 3:00 on a Tuesday! We were greeted, seated, and watered quickly and courteously. The fried pickles are delish - thick and nicely breaded. We'd only ever had Beef's fried pickles, which we liked until now. I had the coconut shrimp basket, fried okra instead of fries. My husband had the shrimp basket. It came with cold fries, but our waitress was quick to get him an order of hot ones. The coleslaw was really good, and the hush puppies were standard. The shrimp in both baskets was large and tasty. Another terrible experience at this restaurant on Monday, May 13, 2019! We had not eaten here in about a year because of the mediocre food and lackluster service, but out of town guests decided they wanted to try a local seafood restaurant and found this one on Yelp. I cautioned them that the food here is poor, at best, and the service typically worse. The guests insisted. Well, the place lived up to our past experiences. It took an hour for the food to start coming out of the kitchen. First served was my son, who had ordered a bowl of gumbo. He made a face with the first spoonful, but said nothing. Then, my bowl of red beans and rice was served. I took one taste and noted that it was not even as warm as room temperature. Strike One! My son admitted that his food was also quite cold. Strike two! When the server returned, we mentioned that the food was cold and he said he would replace it. He removed our bowls and put them on a serving tray at the next table. I asked him if I may have a knife to cut up the sausage on top as it was in quite large pieces. We also asked for some saltines, which were not on the table. He became a little flustered when he realized that crackers were not on the table. Five minutes or so later, he returned, retrieved the bowls and retreated toward the kitchen. The rest of our table was served shortly thereafter. At least ten minutes later, my son and I still had not been given replacements for our dishes. My son remarked that it shouldn't take so long since all the kitchen staff had to do was "nuke" it again. About five minutes or so later, my son's bowl was returned. Luckily, someone brought a basket of crackers then or I would have had nothing to eat for quite some time. I waited for at least another five minutes and no food. Then, a young lady (I think maybe the manager or owner) stopped by and asked how we were doing. I said, "Not good. I have no food. It was served cold and all they had to do was microwave it again." She said she would check and headed toward the kitchen, but with no sense of urgency. It was another five or ten minutes before the server returned my bowl - I could tell it was the same one as before because of the sloppy way the bean juice had been spilled on the rim of the bowl. The food was okay, I mean warm enough to eat, but not really "hot". I also noticed that someone had removed most of the sausage on the top and I was now left with only one piece of sausage. Hah! That will teach me to complain! Since the server had NOT brought a knife as requested and it could not be cut with the spoon provided, I did not eat the sausage. Really, I shouldn't have to pick it up in my fingers and take bites out of it. Another person in our party ordered the crab cakes. Her order contained two cakes, but she ate only a portion of one of them. She told us that they smelled and tasted very "fishy", in other words not very fresh. Strike three! "Yer out." My wife ordered Mahi-Mahi tacos. She said they didn't taste very good and had the consistency of previously frozen fish. Strike four! My son-in-law also had the Mahi-Mahi tacos. The next day, he had severe abdominal discomfort and other "bad" consequences. Strike five! Actually, the only person who had no complaints about their meal was my nine year old grandson. Well, that just goes to show you that even the Shrimp Basket can't mess up chicken strips or that nine-year olds don't care. We are locals. In my opinion, this is the worst restaurant in Navarre and it's a shame. When we first started coming here about six or seven years ago, the food was much better and the service was faster. This will be my last visit ever! read more
