We visited Dewey's in Navarre around 8:05 PM on a Wednesday night. The food was outstanding, everything was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and easily deserving of 5 stars. The setting was also beautiful. We chose to sit outside overlooking the bay. While it was dark enough that we had to use our phone flashlights to see our food, we didn't mind because the skyline view was lovely and we enjoyed watching the glow-in-the-dark kayaks on the water. Unfortunately, the service was a different story. You order and tip at the counter before being served, then find your own table. Once seated, it was unclear whether food would be brought out, whether our name would be called inside, or what the process was. No one ever came outside to check on us, offer napkins, provide condiments, or ask if we needed anything. I eventually sent my 11-year-old daughter inside to ask for napkins. The restaurant was not busy, and there appeared to be plenty of staff on hand. However, it felt like everyone was focused on cleaning and closing for the night rather than taking care of the guests who were still dining. My only suggestion would be to reconsider the tipping process. Since gratuity is collected before any service is provided, it's difficult to know what level of service you're rewarding. If I returned, I would likely skip the pre-tip option and bring cash to tip afterward based on the actual experience. The food was excellent, but the lack of service left a lasting impression. Great place, can be VERY busy - stand in line to order the food! Have someone else stand in the bar line to order drinks - they have a great BOGO happy hour! Lots of options intrigued me - fried pickles, dip, hush puppies, grouper, tacos but I went both time with the shrimp and wasn't disappointed either time! I love their hush puppies too - lil' jalapeño kick to 'em! They have large bottles of tarter, cocktail sauces for the tables. We went to dinner on a Friday night at a little after 5:00 and joined a long line at Dewey Destin's. The line moved quickly and I ordered today's special which was triple tail which I ordered blackened. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. My fish was very tasty and the blackened seasoning was milder than usual. Potatoes were creamy but green beans were kinda bland. I'm not a big fan of green beans so I'm not the best judge. We spent the day in and around Navarre and after looking at the food options Dewey Destin's was a fairly easy choice, this restaurant's location will draw you in and the food and cocktails will validate you've made the right decision. Once inside you can view the menu or daily special's board before approaching the counter to your right or choose as we did to go directly to the bar for drinks and lunch (it's a two sided bar and we found seats on the dining area side which is still inside but offers a better view). Zach was tending bar and set us up with menus and took our drink orders, we started out with a spicy Bloody Mary and a Mojito both were perfectly crafted and great pours, I decided to follow up my cocktail with a local amber draft which was really refreshing and served ice cold. We started with an appetizer order of fried crab claws (a meal in itself) if you've never experienced these and a crab lover well these are a great example of how they are supposed to be done and definitely addictive. We followed up these with a fried Louisiana catfish basket and a blackened triple tail basket - soooooo much food especially after wiping out the fried crab claws. The fried catfish was fried crispy as I ordered it but moist and flaky honestly I forgot about the sides these portions are large especially for lunch. The blackened triple tail was amazing and again such a nice portion not until we got into this basket did we realize there was a second piece of fish underneath what is shown in the picture. Everything here was great starting with the staff, the service, the food, drinks and prices. When returning to the area it will be a difficult decision not to return here or too explore other dining options. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience. This is not our first bad experience there. We have been four times and every time was just as bad. We only went back so the kids can play in the sand while we wait for the food (this will be the last time!) My grandson ordered the kids' fried fish meal. The fish was hard as a rock, extremely dry inside, and smelled very fishy -- completely inedible. The hush puppy was also so hard you couldn't even bite into it. The french fries were good. My granddaughter ordered the kids' grilled cheese. It was burned to a crisp yet somehow greasy, and there was something inside that looked like melted plastic, which I assume was the cheese. Again, the hush puppy was inedible, but the french fries were good. I ordered the shrimp ceviche. While it had good flavor, there were only a couple of shrimp -- the rest was mostly onions and mushy tomatoes. The worst part was the water they served, which smelled like dirty dishwater. So, for $33 , all we could eat were the salty french fries. We left hungry and dehydrated. read more

We are vacationing in the area and after a pretty long day of travel we were looking for something close to our condo and had good food. Dewey Destin's did not disappoint. The staff is friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in. Our son had the kid's fried fish meal, my husband had the fried mahi mahi sandwich, and I chose the snow crab legs. It was pretty packed, but our food came fairly quickly and was delicious. We greatly enjoyed the atmosphere and it was my son's first time trying crab legs. He loved them. OMG... ... this was a great local stomping ground to relax with good food on the water.... How it has fallen from grace. The fish is pounded soooo flat you are eating paper, and on top of that awesomeness they managed to burn the fish and over dry it in every regard. And for the hamburger... welp they managed to mess that up and burn the burger, dry it out, and also make it as flat as paper. My hats off to how badly you can ruin basic food; basic food I paid for someone to make so I can enjoy a night out, but instead I feel like I wasted my time, money, and stomach eating here. This was our favorite local spot, but it has fallen and is now in line with the other local disgusting spots they call food establishments in this area. I was anticipating to come here since our last trip. It was so good I thought of it. Yes I really thought of how good the food was last time. This time it was the total opposite. My wife and I ordered the Captains Platter. For over $20 a platter it should have been cooked to temp. Was it? No. It was over cooked! So overcooked it was rubbery. The fish was tasteless and the shrimp had the texture of plastic because it was so overcooked. The only good thing that was edible were the hush puppies. They were the only good thing on the plate. The worst part of it was the fried oysters. I still do not feel well because I was given rotten oysters. The first one I ate I thought to myself that didn't taste right. The second one I took the breading off and smelled it. It smelled rotten. An awful smell. My wife checked hers and they too were rotten. I felt so paranoid because I know bad oysters can make you very ill. Julia one of the workers came and asked us how was everything and we told her about the oysters. We don't like to complain about the food to workers, but this needed to be addressed since I didn't want other people to get sick. She apologized and asked us if we wanted a new plate but we said no. She left and brought us 1 key like pie that was on the house. I was baffled She asked if she can take the tray of food from me and I said yes. She apologized. She took it to the kitchen I believe it's so they can look at the oysters. She said yes they smelled bad. I said yes they smell very bad. Julia the server was the only good thing about the meal that day. She was very apologetic but we told her it wasn't her fault. Always a fan of Dewey's in Navarre, Fl. Never have a meal without an order of Hushpuppies. The service is great and the food is delivered quickly to your table. Drinks are basically self serve but occasionally a host will offer to top it off. I have noticed a change in the quality of the food. Smaller portions, thinner fillets and smaller not so palatable shrimp hidden in the bottom of the steamed shrimp basket. While we still make a trip here at least once in our visit, for drinks and the hush puppies, there are an increasing amount of lower reviews showing that have the same take as this review. The views to the water and a sitting area in the sand is an excellent touch giving diners a waterside seafood experience while watching boaters float by. I gave this last trip and two visits to Dewey's Navarre a mid grade only based on the quality of food and a mixture of over cooked and under cooked items in a single sitting. Need to improve quality control in the kitchen and the actual product (incredibly thin Mahi fillet sandwich). Next time we come in I will do better to take photos to back up my experience. read more

We got a grilled chicken sandwich and popcorn shrimp special. The shrimp coating had good flavor. The hush puppies that came with the meal were probably the best we've ever had. They had a hint of spice (jalapeño) and a hint of sweet corn muffin. The complementary coleslaw was pretty good as well. The price was reasonable/good for the quality and quantity of food. There are instructions on how to place an order and what to do after placing an order before you enter the establishment. They offer daily specials as well as their regular menu. I opted for the red rock shrimp - served with corn and potatoes and got mine medium spiciness. I think my husband ordered a blackened mahi mahi but we did share a crab dip. Their crab dip is a must! It was served with cut up pieces of tortilla; truly a great way to start the meal. They have tables outside and in the covered patio. If you want drinks, they have a bar where you order separately. Firstly, the prices were relatively high compared to the quality of food. The service was good, everyone was nice. The enclosed deck is pretty nice, being air conditioned comfortably (it was 91 and inside close to 76) The fries tasted like they've been in the freezer too long, and were basically not seasoned. The Mahi Poboy was good, the bread was soft and the fish was hot and cooked through. The shrimp Poboy wasn't as good, the shrimp wasnt de-veined and very lightly flash fried. Gumbo fries were mediocre, gumbo tasted like it was pretty much tomato soup with some extra stuff in it. Over all, the bang for buck was much more in the buck side of the deal and the food was decent. Can't say I would recommend this place. read more

The general consensus was it could have used a little more seasoning, but overall a solid meal and the price was just right. Our party of seven sampled a little bit of everything. We had stuffed shrimp, blackened shrimp salad, firecracker shrimp poboy, chicken tenders, smoked fish dip, seafood gumbo, fried crab claws and hot crab dip. My favorite bites came from the smoked fish dip, cool and refreshing and the fried crab claws, even though they were lacking salt. I would skip the stuffed shrimp next time. The bacon wrapping it was overwhelming. The server was kind and efficient, the atmosphere was so laid back and relaxed. I'd go back in a heartbeat. read more
