    KING CRAB LEGS 1 LB
    Sarah S.

My boyfriend and I came to Shrimp Heads for a date night, and it was absolutely worth the wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We waited about an hour for a table, but the amazing smell that hits you as soon as you walk in had us excited from the start.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have lots of parking, which was a nice bonus. Make sure to order an appetizer first since the food will take some time to be prepared! The cajun fries are delicious, salty, and crunchy. We both ordered a pound of king crab with corn and sausage, and everything was delicious. The crab was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the add-ons complemented it perfectly. Make sure to get the house sauce because it takes everything to the next level. If you plan to visit, carve out enough time to enjoy the full experience. Between the wait and the incredible food, this is definitely a spot worth visiting. 10/10, we'll be back!

First time trying AYCE that is M-W and I do think it is worth your money! Come with an empty stomach to make the #girlmath math! The worker was nice enough to explain and the rules are clear on the AYCE menu. Friendly heads up that all parties in the group need to be doing AYCE at the table. The bag is shared amongst the table, so it is difficult if you and your party like different sauces. I enjoyed all seafood in my bag (mussels, clams, shrimp). We did a total of two "full rounds" with the maximum amount of seafood that we could order in that round, along with the miscellaneous sides and add ons. The eggs and corn were delicious and helped retain that saucy flavor. I do not recommend the French fries, that did taste like freezer food and it did not hold a nice after taste. Surprisingly one of the tasty things was the fried shrimp! The parking is very limited so I can see this as a potential issue to many. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The biggest party seems to be a table of 8, as the restaurant is not that big.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would come here again if I was in the area.

My good friend found this place on Instagram and wanted me to try it out with her. I agreed and then met her here for an early dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is decorated like a bayou coastal shrimp shop. It's really cozy and had enough seating for about 50 in the dining room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the popular seafood boil in a bag meal for two with All You Can Eat (AYCE) waves of food. We also ordered sodas. The food kept coming in rounds and we began to get full after round 3. There is a charge for leftover food. You want to make sure that you do not over order in the rounds. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed everything. The servers were both great. We also appreciated that they checked on us frequently for more rounds of seafood boil. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place began to get packed. I am happy that we beat the dinner rush on a Wednesday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pros: - House special sauce was flavorful. - Price for seafood was decent. They have specials on weekdays and AYCE seafood on certain days for $39.99. Pretty worth if you eat a good amount of seafood. AYCE comes with sides too. Cons: - Service can be better. The girl took awhile to get our order and we were the 1st people. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is nothing to talk about. Typical seafood boil place decor imo.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The place shares a parking lot with other food places so that's nice, even if it's small. - Sides and add ons were weirdly expensive. - No fresh sweet tea at a seafood boil place? Fairly close by home, but I would drive out for better ones.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by on a Monday evening and was honestly surprised at how busy it was for a weekday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A friend had recommended it, so we came with a party of 6 to celebrate the hubby's birthday. The wait wasn't too bad while they got our table ready. We considered the AYCE option, but the way the rules were explained was pretty confusing. The waiter mentioned that the whole table had to participate (expected), but everything would be served family-style on one order, and we'd all have to choose the same sauce and spice level. That didn't make much sense- especially with a group our size where everyone has different spice tolerances- so we decided to skip it and order à la carte instead. I ordered crawfish by the lb and the Combo #1, and the sauces were actually pretty decent. We tried both the lemon pepper and the house sauce in separate bags. That said, they were pretty stingy with the sauce, barely enough to coat everything. I noticed they don't use much garlic compared to other seafood boil spots. The calamari was disappointing- very tough and rubbery. The zucchini fries weren't very good either. It also appeared dark, as if they used old oil(?).. Their fried items weren't anything special and not something I'd order again. Overall, their Cajun seafood boil isn't bad, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to. If friends really wanted to come here, I wouldn't object, but I'd definitely skip the fried foods and be prepared for a bit of a wait after ordering.

Fried Oreo Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream..,,yum!

I enjoyed the warm hospitality and attentiveness. Currently they offer AYCE on select nights. I wasn't that hungry so I went with their specials offered til 5pm. Very affordable and good options. I went with the shrimp boil, which came with 1 corn, 1 potato and 2 bite size sausage, and I selected mild house sauce. The sauce was oily and lacked flavor. I opted for butter and lemon later. The shrimp was not overcooked. I love fresh shrimp with heads. I would say it was 40/60 on freshness from the looks of the heads. The winner for me was the fried Oreo, served with vanilla ice cream. Served hot and absolutely delicious, a nice unexpected treat. The service and the dessert are the true winners for me.

It is April 23rd Thursday 755pm We are a party of 6 and got denied the all you can eat menu and told they can't serve us. This was very disrespectful as there were tables that can be moved together like the other family of 6. Sincerely, Hungry and unsatisfied

[[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside, it looks like a normal restaurant nothing fancy. But once you walk in, the smell hits you buttery, lemony, and absolutely delicious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is chilly, clean, and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been to many crab boil spots where it's humid and sticky, but this one was the complete opposite.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a great mom-and-pop vibe, and the servers were very attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food came out fast too. I believe they offer all-you-can-eat on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, which is a huge plus. Owner correct me if i got the days wrong. Between the four of us, we had beers, lobster tail, king crab, unlimited crab boil, and tip, and it was only around $300. That's very reasonable considering the quality. Definitely not cheap food, but high quality at a fair price. I'd definitely come back. As I was leaving, I noticed customers walking in with big smiles maybe the munchies ahem ahem, but I definitely ate a lot myself. Highly recommend everyone to try it out!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very hole in the wall surprisingly delicious![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband and I had been craving a good seafood boil and this place did not disappoint. It was a little understaffed in the front of house, but the food very much made up for our wait time. 10/10 we will be back!

Arrived at restaurant with three open tables. Made us stand out in the cold instead of seating us. Hostess was rude about it as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seats metal chairs and uncomfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The "all you can eat" is a HOAX. $41 for shrimp but you have to pay $14 extra dollars tor EACH CLUSTER of snow crab. Bland. Bland bland bland. Waste of money. Don't come here.

    Do they have live crawfish?

    No not here.

Saw on IG you have AYE shrimp boils on Mon, Wed and Thurs for $35, is that real? I don't see it advertised on your website.

Someone posted on Yelp 6 days ago that the real deal is up to 2lbs for $35

Do they have a happy hour menu?

    No happy hour menu

    What are their vegetarian options?

They have fried okra, fries, and corn.

Are pets allow for outdoor dining?

Don't believe outdoor dining is an option at the moment. When I've dined indoors, I have not seen any pets.

    Do they take reservations?

I'm sure they would. Their staff is brilliant and accommodating.

When you try to order on yelp, why is the price much more expensive than in store? For example, the house bucket is $90 on yelp (before all the add on such as delivery fee, platform fee, tips, and tax), but only $75 in store?

    Not sure

How long is the wait time usually on the weekends?

I came on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening and was seated immediately! Didn't seem to have a wait at all the day I went.

Are we able to order just the sauce for take out?

sauce on the side is $3.50

Is the SHARKeTINI an alcoholic drink?

    Yes, it's sake base.

Compared to Crab Hut, how good are the crab legs?

    Pretty Identical to be honest

    Are the boils gluten free?

You may want to ask what type of broth, if any is used. Boils tend to use a both base. If the broth is vegetable base it maybe gluten free however if a chicken or beef broth is used they tend to have hydrolyzed wheat protein in it, which is not…

I asked her what she wanted and she said, "seafood", so I immediately thought of Blue Water, and we drove right over. We parked at a metered spot nearby & walked in at 5pm. Do note that there is no dedicated parking for Blue Water, so at busy times it may be tricky to find a spot, but we had no trouble today. In the main dining ordering area & on the side patio, there were a few tables that were occupied, but there was no ordering line. All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. Peace!

However, when we walked in, we weren't greeted by the host and ended up waiting about ten minutes in an almost empty restaurant before being seated. We were close to walking out at that point. We dined as a group of two adults, a child, and an infant. I do want to give credit where it's due since they were very accommodating for kids. They provided a booster seat and also gave us something to securely hold our infant's car seat, which we really appreciated. The restaurant isn't specifically geared toward families, but they made it feel kid-friendly, which ended up being one of the highlights of our visit. Service was a bit uneven. Our waitress seemed flustered and forgot to put in our appetizer order, which was disappointing. That said, she did bring out our child's meal first, which was a thoughtful touch since kids don't like to wait. As for the food, it was good but not particularly memorable. We ordered a combo platter with asparagus, as well as swordfish with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out except the bread. In fact, my husband makes better Brussels sprouts and swordfish at home. Overall, there were some positives, especially the kid-friendly accommodations, but the service hiccups and average food mean we're on the fence about returning.

Arrived around 5:15pm, and there wasn't a line, but the restaurant had a good amount of diners. Pretty good ventilation at the front of the restaurant, but the back part of the restaurant, likely the overflow room was where my family and I were seated. It had a funky smell to the area and there was poor ventilation. I wanted to step out but I refrained. Everything felt stuffy in that section. The only nice person was the male staff member at the front for checkin. The rest of the staff were not very friendly. The hostess who walked us to our table was not very friendly and just rushed things. Took our drink orders, and didn't say much. Just walked off. I was surprised to see the pitchers with the beverages were sitting on top of a counter outside where customers are, without any lids. Anyone can just walk by and touch or spit in them. Thought that was not very hygienic... Different sections of food. I never expect food at buffets to be of good quality or taste excellent, so the food items were all mediocre. The teppanyaki grill was... well, let's just say they use the same spatula for everyone's entreés. You load up your plate and the cook throws everything on the grill. Uses the same spatulas to cook everyone's food. If you have allergies or sensitivity to spice, then probably avoid this section. He cooked the meat for someone else's plate and then touched the veggies for the other. Used mod spice level sauce for one, and then same spatula on my entreé. My order was non-spicy, but it had a kick since the neighboring sauce got onto my stir fry. Dessert section isn't even labeled.... meaning, the baked/dessert items aren't labeled other than the gelato flavors. Crab legs were very salty. Lobster claws in the cold section were OK though. The warm lobster they serve is limited to 1 per person per serving. Long line, and if they run out, you have to wait or return when they serve again. People were waiting in line while eating their food... the lobsters are tiny, dry, and with very little meat. It is definitely not worth paying the extra for lobster night. The amount of waiting time is ridiculous and there is no guarantee that you can even get a lobster. Some groups have 1 person waiting in line and then when it is their turn, the rest of the group members (5-7) cut the whole line to each get a lobster. I was trying to get 1 for my mother, and I didn't get to eat one, but didn't mind since it didn't even look good. Rest of the foods were mediocre too. I had 1 plate that wasn't even full... lost my appetite. Wouldn't return. Hygiene.... cross contamination... Some people say this place is like the old Pala casino buffet or Las Vegas buffet- definitely not the case. Parking can be compact. Gets busy around 5:45p it seems as more people were waiting in the lobby.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quick my food came to the table, with my boyfriend's not too long after. I had only tried the crust of his pizza, but even that alone, it was still delicious. A part of the reason for our visit was to try the Tiramisu and it didn't disappoint at all. It was the right balance of sweet mascarpone and rich espresso. Our server was kind and attentive to us, checking on us and giving us updates on our food. We were both surprised to see that after asking for the check, we weren't charged for the Tiramisu, a kind gesture we appreciated. Overall, my boyfriend and I enjoyed our time here. I'd like to come back so I could try the pizza with my boyfriend.

Maybe it was a lucky day or they hear customers but today was a totally different experience. The hostess was so helpful and she was the one who went behind the counter to find my order which was already bagged and ready! I couldn't believe it and thanked her so much for her help. The order was packaged very well and the pastries were still warm from being freshly made. The guava puff pastry was flatter today but tasted exceptionally good especially with an afternoon coffee. So impressed by the positive pick up order !

Food came out remarkably fast, especially the paella, since it had a disclaimer that it may take 15 mins to prepare. First off, I got the Chicken Pollo. This was dry :(. I also ordered my favorite, Yuca Fries, which were noticeably smaller than before, about half the size! Although they tasted the same, the amount was definitely less than before. My friends shared the paella and it was dry as well. One of friends asked the waiter, "How is the food prepared? Is it all premade and stored in a warmer?" To finish off, we got the Cuban Coffee Tres Leches cake, which super soft and moist. My friends loved this dessert. I still love the ambiance of this place as it reminds me of being on vacation. Sadly, this place misses the mark and it wasn't the way it was when I last visited.

(5/5) El Viejon…read moreSeafood is a hidden gem and one of my favorite seafood spots in San Diego. The restaurant has a great vibe, an excellent seafood selection, and delivers big flavors. The seating area is small and parking can be challenging, but the food more than makes up for it. The fish tacos were outstanding--some of the best I've had in San Diego. Both the smoked fish taco and the beer-battered fish taco were incredible and packed with flavor. The seafood tower was also amazing, fresh, and beautifully put together. The only item that missed the mark for me was the al pastor taco, which was a little too sweet for my taste. Everything else was excellent. If you're looking for quality seafood, amazing fish tacos, and a casual spot with great energy, El Viejon Seafood is definitely worth a visit. Service was nice and fast. Good tasting salsa selections

I've been meaning to go to this place for a long while and finally made it for lunch! The place ia well known for its gimmicky tower but it works! I'd suggest it better for happy hour or dinner with friends. There were 3 of us and it was plenty but we ordered one taco extra each and we were stuffed!! Got the queso shrimp taco and it was super good, too. I like this place and will be back! U order first and then they bring to your table. Parking can be a challenge but it's worth it.

Since I'm not the biggest spice fan, I usually order the Tangy Lemon Fish and the Royal Tomato Fish. If you like spice, then I recommend the Signature and the Laotan Suancai and Fish - both have a nice numbing mala spice to them. Perfect combination of salty, sour, and spicy flavors. For each bowl, you start by picking whether you want the base to be snakehead or basa fish. You then select 4 sides from a list (I highly recommend the vermicelli). Additional sides cost extra. For a small sized bowl, 1 bowl of rice is included. For a large sized bowl, 2 bowls of rice are included. The large size is enough to feed 2 people. I'd recommend ordering at least 3 larges if your party is 3 or more people.

Malatang has become so popular in SD, especially around Convoy, and I've noticed several new spots opening up in just the past couple of years. We tried the Malatang with the classic bone broth and tom yum broth. Both were alright - the broths were lighter and not as heavy or rich as some other Malatang places. It's a good option if you prefer something less oily and more on the lighter side. Their fried desserts - the Coconut Lava Balls and Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cakes - were pretty good. They had just the right amount of sweetness and weren't overly sweet, making them a nice way to end the meal. Even though they now offer Malatang, their Chinese-style fish soups are still worth checking out. Their menu originally centered around dishes like suancai fish, a popular Chinese comfort food that's relatively new to the SD food scene. If you're not in the mood for Malatang, the Tangy Lemon Fish and Golden Beef Soup are solid alternatives. The ingredient selection is good, and the restaurant is clean and welcoming.
