Man, we didn't even come here for Bag O' Crab I originally pulled up because I was craving the Korean spot that used to be here, only to find out they were GONE gone. Bag O' Crab done took over the whole spot lol. Since we were already standing there hungry, we said aight then, let's see what y'all got. And yooooo... I ain't mad at it!! We got Combo #3 with the Dungeness crab, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes and that thang was BUSSIN. Seafood was good, sauce was hittin, crab was solid. BUT Bag O' Crab... y'all gotta stop playing with these sides...Two lil pieces of sausage, two lil pieces of corn and two tiny potatoes?? C'MON NOW. For what we paid, throw another potato in there! Corn ain't that expensive fam!! Lol We also got the fish and chips for the kids and that was hella good too. Kids smashed it, so that's always a win. Service was great though. The lady helping us was super nice, it was pretty busy, but there was hella seating so we had no problem finding a spot. Would I come back? Yup. FOR SURE. But next time I might pull up with some corn in my pocket and a baked potato tucked in my jacket I'm gonna make sure I'm prepared. Overall, great spot for a seafood boil. I came here with my sister for my birthday dinner. We are pretty light eaters, so we shared the dungeness crab combo, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Our server gave us the option to have headless shrimp and the crab somewhat prepped and that was perfect! We got a small side of rice but we didn't really need it. The yummy little corn cob and potatoes included in the boil really satisfied that. We also went for the garlic butter option (you can never have too much garlic!), and were very pleased. But it wasn't just the absolutely delicious sea food which I had been craving for some time. I absolutely adored the nautical decor (made for super cute photos!) and the friendly helpful service! The food was amazing, we got 2lbs of headless shrimp with add ons and rice, total came out to about $60 something dollars. service was amazing, the staff, every single one, checked up on us regularly and were super polite and accommodating. **BUT** the experience was brought so far down bc they were playing fox news on full volume with pro-ice, anti-protest messages. Hearing hateful derogatory remarks every bite spoils the flavor of good food. Regardless of partisanship hearing about people getting unalived while eating is ew. As someone raised in the city they're operating in, calling a human an "illegal alien" to dehumanize them and being okay enough with that message to keep it on for the entire service as your ambient noise is a no for me. read more

Bag O Crab is a national seafood boil chain that has opened a second location in SD County. This National City suite in the Grove Plaza used to be the home of an Asian hot pot eatery and before that a sushi restaurant. Parking was plentiful in the plaza lot. Like all of these seafood boil places, the interior decor had a nautical theme with wall art and ocean-related items hanging from the ceiling. The seating capacity in the dining area was sufficient for around 50 customers. Sheets of white butcher paper were torn from large rolls at the service counter and placed as a "tablecloth" at each table. I arrived for a late weeknight dinner and wanted something besides a boil bag as I didn't want to wear a bib and plastic gloves for my meal. I settled for the Louisiana Grilled Shrimp and a cup of Gumbo Soup. The entree consisted of a dozen medium sized grilled shrimp with white rice and a side salad. It was served on a lined metal tray with the rice and salad each in separate cups. I didn't find anything that really stood out. The soup had good flavor from the seafood stock. I wish it was a larger portion for $7.95, but the gumbo was certainly the best item of the evening. We enjoyed the new restaurant Bag O' Crab located in East Plaza Blvd, in National City, CA. I'm always in search for a good seafood spot. The restaurant opened its doors in May of 2026. They had a special advertised if you spend $50+ you get a FREE gyoza appetizer. The gyoza was so delicious and very crispy. I found out about this restaurant on Instagram. We enjoyed the following: Combo #2 with 1 lb of snow crab legs and 1 lb of shrimp with garlic butter sauce and medium heat. I drizzled lemons on my seafood boil it was so good!! We also ordered a basket of fried fish with Cajun French fries and both were very crispy and delicious. We had excellent customer service. Our server was very attentive. The restaurant was clean. I've been to a few in SD & I liked a couple of them but Bag O Crab is now one of my favorites & happy that they moved into the South Bay of SD so I don't have to drive far. They are new & hitting the ground running hard. Me & my whole family loved it! First let's start with the customer service from I believe Irene, it was amazing. The best customer service I've received at a Seafood Boil place ever, she was friendly, attentive, fast & helpful. And the prices here are great, better than other Seafood Boil places, affordable & portions are big. Now for the food, amazing, ORGASMIC I'll even say! So flavorful, we got the Atomic Medium so it was a bit spicy but so good. The potatoes, corn & sausages are bigger here than other places & softer. Shrimp big, clean & tasty, muscles big, soft & delicious. The crab legs also soft & easy to crack & pull out & the bottom part full of meat & very clean. And we love that they bring you a big silver bowl to pour it in so you can mix all your food in the juices. And we had the best Gyoza ever, perfectly fried & make sure to get their Cajun Edamame as well & those Cajun fries hit real good, dip it in the juice. And love their to go bags. I ordered from this spot through DoorDash and it was truly worth every penny! You absolutely get your bang for your buck. The combo was such a good deal for 1lb of snow crabs, 3/4 lb of peeled shrimp, a couple potatoes, sausages, and corn. There was great flavor, and it was packed perfectly. Our delivery order included bibs, gloves, utensils, and the wet wipes. We also got the fish and fries and those were delicious as well. They were offering a special--complimentary appetizers depending on your spend ($30, $40, or $50), which was a nice bonus. We received Cajun edamame (which we love adding into our crawfish boil) and Cajun fries, both on the house. We ordered two Combo #1s (with Cajun and Atomic sauces), two chicken tenders, and a half dozen oysters. Overall, we were really impressed with the flavors. The clams were huge--we're used to the smaller ones, so this was a great surprise. The shrimp were perfectly steamed in the sauce, making them easy to peel, and the crawfish were just as good--the meat came out easily and was super satisfying. Hi! I just got crawfish today and it's all rotten. So sad! It looks like they picked all the dead ones, also IF FRESH crawfish and shrimp have been in frozen for over 2 months they can be affected to the meat part a lot bringing it a bad taste. The staff are very nice! But the part that they picked crawfish and shrimp are bad. Today I have thrown all the crawfish:((. Because they are all 95% rotten (dead) before the chef in the restaurant put them into dish. This location looks like just newly opened, so I hope in future they can provide us a better crawfish and shrimps. Thank you. read more

We got this delivered as a birthday present and were happily surprised at how delicious everything was. Did not know this restaurant existed on Plaza Boulevard . Everything was very warm upon arrival. The fried fish with lemon pepper was amazingly delicious. Not sure what type of fish, but it was so tasty and fresh. Loved the spices on the fries. Couldn't get enough of them . The mussels in garlic butter were yummy and were not chewy at all. The combo number 2 with shrimp, snow crab legs, corn, potatoes, and sausage was delicious even the next day because we couldn't eat everything. Loved the flavor of the sausage. Our order was not spicy at all, but still had incredible flavor, especially with all the garlic. Will definitely be ordering from this establishment. Sorry I did not take pictures. Atomic could use some more salt and a bit sugar to balance the taste and a little less butter. I appreciate the quality of the seafoods though. Raw oysters were a good size and very fresh saw well. Ordered the combo #1 (1lb of jumbo shrimps, 1lbs of crawfish, a couple of corn on the cob, 2 small red potatoes, and a couple of sausages) in mild atomic sauce which is original cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter. Ordered side of half a pound of mussels and lemon pepper wings and rice. They have a special right now when you buy $50 worth you get a free order of their gyoza. We tried this new spot that opened in National City. Ordered the seafood boil of course. I must say, they do give you a lot of crab in the bag. We were disappointed with are experience though. The crab did not appear to be cleaned properly and had a very strong fishy smell, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. The sauce was also not very good and lacked the flavor I was expecting. We left almost all of the clams and mussels in the bag and just paid the bill. I'm hoping this was just an off night because I've heard good things about the restaurant. Had a great experience at Bag O Crab ! The food was delicious, and the Atomic Sauce and Louisiana Flavor Stream Sauce were so good I'd definitely order them again. I also really liked that you can add noodles or rice to your seafood boil. The noodles soaked up all that flavorful sauce and were honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. the freshest seafood ever but the sauce recipe needs complete revision. as someone who grew with a mama from the south, i know how a seafood sauce is supposed to be. the sauce here is literally rehydrated oil and then a shit ton of seasoning that just settles to the bottom of the bowl. the seasoning cant stick to seafood because the butter sauce is straight up oil. let me tell you. authentic seafood boil butter sauce is BUTTER. not oil, NOT MARGARIN, not OIL! so besides the fact, you get a bowl of oil with a side of fresh seafood cooked to perfection. this place has so much potential if they just use real butter for the sauce. also the service is terrible. the waitress acts as if she cant understand a simple request, as we asked for unsweetend iced tea, she brought us raspberry tea, when we asked her to take it back for unsweetend tea, she brought out a cup of watered down raspberry tea. like what is actually going on LOL if u dont have unsweetened iced tea just say so?! read more
