Daddy's Shrimp Bowl
Vivian T.

Came back a year later, and the service is just as friendly and welcoming. I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and we all enjoyed our seafood boil feast. We indulged in their Family Combo deal called the Captain's Catch, which was enough for 4-5 people. It includes head on shrimp, peeled shrimp, clams, mussels, 5 sausages, potatoes, and 2 corn cobs. I did feel as though there could be more of one item, and we ordered an additional 1lb of crawfish. We tried something new and we loved their chicken wings and crab cakes. They were great appetizers! Service was humorous and they are a little short staffed but still courteous. I'd continue to come as this location is not in a busy parking area and the food has been consistent since opening!

Q U A L I T Y! The patio(dog friendly) is adorable and perfectly shaded. I noticed there's some warmers so my husband and I are looking forward to coming back during colder evenings to enjoy The staff was super kind, patient and helped us in deciding what to order. Not only was the server who assisted us extremely kind and checked in often but other staff checked in on us as well. My husband and I truly appreciated that. Now let's talk about the food! Absolutely amazing!! The seasoning and the quality of the food was obvious within the first bite. Our mouths were watering as the server was bringing the bag our way because we could smell the seasoning and all the flavors. Kudos to the kitchen/cooks! We had the appetizer of Calamari and regular fries....a must! The sauce it came with was divine We really had no negative feedback when it came to this restaurant and are looking forward to coming back

Daddy's Noods

First time trying this place and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Daddy's Noods and the Snow Crab Legs. I ordered through delivery service so the cost was wildly excessive with all the additional fees the app charges but the cost of the food itself seems on par with other crab boil type places. It seems they charge by cluster and not by pound. I don't know if that's better or worse for anyone but I think I'd rather by pound. The crab legs also came with corn, sausage and potatoes without it being an added expense. Compared to some other places I would typically just order 2lbs of crab legs with no extras and I would maybe spend around $100. The legs I got did seem a little small for the price of $69/2 clusters but I can't say that for certain or assume that is the norm. Take that for what it's worth. The flavor of the sauce is really nice. I got a mild garlic butter and Cajun and it was delicious. Still had a little heat for mild, but very good. Same with the Noods. I got non spicy since they were for my toddler and they tasted very good. I almost stole them from her. I would eat here again but in person to save on the delivery fees.

Sabrina our server was Amazing! The food was great I totally recommend everyone to try this place.Ambiance was great.

First things first. The service was serving! Ross made our night. He was the best! From being greeted upon entry, an explanation of how it all goes down, quick turnaround of receiving our food after ordering, checking on us, etc. SERVE-ing! Next the reason we came in. The food! I always order from Uber Eats when staying in San Diego for work but with hubby in town decided to go in person. As always, it was delicious! We had the crab leg cluster that comes with sausages, potatoes, and corn and added peeled shrimp and extra corn. Sauce. Mild spice Daddy sauce. Delish. Not too spicy. Just enough to let you know it's hidden in all that garlic buttery goodness. To top it off, we had the you Oreo banana pudding. Chef kiss. A perfect way to end a perfect dinner. I. Will. Definitely. Be. Back. You should give it a try. You'll be happy you did!

Absolutely loved Boil Daddy! Reminded me of one of my favorites back home. Their boil is less soupy and is dry but it is very flavorful. The service was great and we loved the outdoor seating area to enjoy the San Diego weather. We definitely would return and recommend their special sauce. A great fun and family friendly spot too! My kids loved eating on the table!

Eddie, our server was friendly, with just the right amount of humor and very attentive. He described dishes and offered a hot sauce that was HOT! The Shrimp Bourbon Street was tasty, lots 'o shrimp, yummy dipping sauce, a perfect combo with Seafood Gumbo, to finish off my meal. The Seafood Bisque-appetizer and the Shrimp and Grits meal seemed to satisfy my husband. Our friends ordered Crawfish Etouffee and the Cajun Jambalaya, which were a hit. We commented that there might be some take-home, but it was not to be, the food was consumed on the premises. Our finishing touch of Beignets covered in the powdered sugar and coulis sauce was the perfect finale to our very enjoyable meal. We ate in the dining room, which was busy, but not noisy, and as mentioned , the service was excellent (Eddie) , and patio seating is available. Parking is convenient, so there is every reason to visit Bud's as soon as possible. See ya soon!

The owner, Bud is from the French Quarter and he makes all the meals and desserts right here. The best. I started with the Seafood Gumbo then Shrimp and Grits...very hearty and excellent in the flavors. Finished with the Bread Pudding. OMG. This is a "5 star must do." Get here and try everything. Our server was very attentive, which was especially nice since we were among the first customers there. A few things to note: there is a 90-minute dining limit, and everyone at the table shares the same seafood bag, so your group will need to agree on one sauce flavor per round. We only made it through two rounds, but everything we ordered was delicious. The fries were crispy, and the mussels, shrimp, and clams were all meaty. The sauce was flavorful and complemented the seafood well. We finished the meal with the fried Oreo and ice cream, which was the perfect sweet ending. We'd definitely come back again for the AYCE experience!

Half of the shrimp and crawfish we had were dead, so the taste and texture wasn't there. The clams and mussels were very sandy. The sauce was good but medium spice didn't have any kick at all but the next flavor was "atomic" which is very intimidating (I regret not trying the next level up though). Plus the service was slow and parking is terrible. My favorite items were the lemon pepper wings, quail eggs, and Cajun fries though lol

I placed my order through the ChowNow platform and arrived to pick it up, only to find out that the restaurant staff was completely unaware the order had been received. Because the order was never sent to the kitchen, I had to wait additional time while it was prepared. The bigger issue was the food itself. I ordered Combo 3, which states it includes 1 lb of clams, but there were very few clams in the bag--certainly nowhere near what I expected. In addition, there were no sausages at all and only 1-2 small potatoes included. Mistakes happen, but between the ordering issue and the missing ingredients, the meal did not match what was advertised. I hope the restaurant improves both its order management process and quality control.

We came on a weeknight in January and easily found parking out front. The restaurant is more of a bungalow, and it's quiet and really pretty on the outside. There is a door on the left of the stairs that leads to a small, old timey dining room, and it's going to be weird...I'll warn you about that. When you open the door, it feels like you just walked in on someone's private dinner party. It's super quiet in there and it's just a bunch of tables. No host/hostess. You seat yourself if there's a table. A server comes in and out of the room to serve the tables. The Mac and cheese was meh, we ordered it for a toddler. The crawfish étouffée was so good, they did not skimp on crawfish. I like it a little spicier, but this was what I needed. I would definitely come back here! If it's a cold night, dress accordingly, this bungalow is not insulated and the server comes in and out, so it was freezing. Can't imagine the heat in summer, but the food is worth it.

The picky eaters ordered Mac and cheese with andouille sausage and we got both sizes: petite and regular. You can tell it was made from scratch and it was very cheese and runny. We got the dark roux gumbo with shrimp, chicken and sausage. The flavor was on point; however I wish it was more of the holy trinity and that the sausage was cut in medallions vs pieces. Our waiter was so helpful and patient and since we paid in cash the 4% surcharge for credit cards wasn't charged. I recommend!

The Cajun fries held their own too. Prices are fair, actually a bit cheaper than comparable spots in SD, and the space itself is large, clean, and nice inside. We were seated quickly with no wait. That said, a few things brought the experience down. The staffing was clearly not enough for the volume of guests -- as the night picked up, service noticeably slowed, and it felt like the waiters were stretched thin through no fault of their own. That's a management issue. The sausage portion options are oddly limited too -- only a half pound or full pound, nothing in between, which feels unnecessarily restrictive. Biggest miss: the calamari. One bite and I was done -- it had "frozen grocery store bag" written all over it. Skip it entirely. The garlic bread is in the same boat, obviously store-bought, though it's passable enough. Stick to the seafood boil, avoid the appetizers, and hope you visit on a well-staffed night.

The fried shrimp had great flavor and seasoning on the breading. I personally would've liked them fried just a little harder for a bit more crisp, but they were still very tasty and fresh. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. The flavor was really good and comforting, but I would've liked a little more juice in it. It would also be great if they offered an option to heat the cobbler, which would take it to another level. Interior is cute , screams New Orleans.
