Huge fan of this place. The fried shrimp are AWSOME. Unlike no other I've ever had, I prefer the large as apposed to the jumbo. Maybe because I feel the jumbos have to much batter. But the shrimp with tarter sauce are off the hook!! I believe they use pie crust instead of ordinary breading that's why they are so good. I've also had the steak and it was really good. Very affordable prices for what u get, very friendly staff. When your a regular, they make u feel like family. Love the atmosphere. It's very friendly and the staff looks like they've been working there for a while. It also appeared to be filled with regulars as the conversation with the wait staff was very casual. I came here about 2 months ago for dinner. The food isn't fascinating and definitely not the best place for fried seafood. The only thing that was good I had was the fried jumbo shrimps and fried scallops. Their fried fish is yuck yuck yuck. The BF said his fried catfish wasn't done. I tried his and the first thing I notice was its blandness. The shrimp salad was alright. It was a salad anyone can make at home with iceberg lettuce and cooked mini shrimps in a bag, that can be purchased at your local grocery store. The lobster mac & cheese was bland!!! ~ a dish to stay far away from! The only reason I ordered it because the restaurant supposedly specialize in seafood... well, fried seafood to be exact. And on a note, it is expensive. If you are curious and any fried seafood is good to you, then come here. If you have a strong taste bud and picky about food then stay away. You can't find shrimp like this! Their Jumbo Shrimp are huge! We had their 4 piece with side salad & rice pilaf. Added 1 clam chowder. Everything is superb. Had a meeting nearby & we figured we would stop by. I've come here for over 30 years. The service was good. Our waitress was very helpful, friendly & made suggestions of their specials. It's been awhile since we have been here, but something I noticed tonight; cleaning the tables, salt shakers , ketchup bottles with disinfectant solution. To me this is another great part of service :) The building is older but to see first hand on maintenance & cleaning the details ... they get a big handclap. Did NOT enjoy anything from this place. .I asked for the fish and shrimp my fish was rubbery I believe it had the skin on and made it impossible to chow I showed the waitress and she brought me another piece. I tried to eat it but by that time I just couldn't get pass the bad fish I had already had. Claim Chowder my husband and I tried both white and red. White chowder tasted like raw flour red was ok. I am sorry but I didn't have a good experience at all. Coleslaw wasn't good either. Service was good. My waitress was very sweet. Have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. I'm sorry to say there are things I didn't like on my last visit. The lemon slice they served me in my ice water had black mold on the rind. The jumbo shrimp are a lot smaller than they were in the past. They are actually more like large shrimp. The yellow hot sauce was so watered down, it came out like water. I understand that they are in the business to make money, but when people are used to having a great dining experience and high quality seafood and don't receive it, it makes them not want to return. read more

Always crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. The reason is obvious! There were many times when we drove there, only to find no place to park, so we had to go elsewhere. Go before 6pm. Great and very reasonably priced menu with humongous portions. Their "small" fried zucchini and seafood salads are HUGE!!! If you love fried shrimp, this is the place. For non-seafood eaters, they have hamburger and steaks. Their desserts are made from scratch; their bread pudding and cobblers are superb! Great service! All the hostesses are friendly! Our favorite is DANA. Many of the patrons are regulars from all walks of life. The decor is nautical and interesting. On New Year's Eve, around 10pm, you can watch the Rose Parade floats pass by with police escorts, on their way to Pasadena. read more
