This place was busy when we got there. We were sat down and served in no time. Server was great! We got appetizers and were a bit disappointed in how small they were for 9.00 + appetizers. The taste was good, not great but good. Main course was catfish etoufee. It was just fried fish with a sauce over. In fact it came out without the sauce and the server took it back and added it. Again it was ok but a bit common in flavor. Quantity of the main was good. The pecan pie wS good, not great, but good. Overall cost I would consider high for the meal we ate. But there were no big misses. Rating was a reflection of cost to meal comparison. Overall it wAs good but pricey. We had several beers with diner and desert and for two of us two apps, one main, and one desert was 75.00. read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed shrimp daddy's yet! We didn't try them for a long time because I am very leery of eating shrimp out and this place does look like a dive from the outside. I found out their motto is "a dive with a dream" and it couldn't be more fitting! If you ask me, they have already made the dream come true as far as their food. We love Cajun and this is the real deal! I'd be lying if I said it was the very best Cajun I'd ever had, but it was the best outside of Louisiana (or my kitchen, ha ha)! The shrimp sampler was terrific! I couldn't decide between red beans and rice or gumbo, so the owner suggested that I could do half of each. They were both so good! I was feeling extra piggy, so I also had some pecan pie for dessert. FANTASTIC!!! Perfect service, fun and clean atmosphere, and the best Cajun north of New Orleans. This place has it all, including non-Cajun for you less adventurous types. I wish we lived locally so we could eat there whenever we wanted. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!! We stopped for lunch, were pleasantly surprised...little bit of New Orleans right here in MO! Bloody Mary's and unique beers with homemade onion rings got us started, then enjoyed the Voo-Doo salad with shrimp, shrimp po-boy, catfish po-boy, and jambalaya. Finally, we got talked into trying the Gooey butter cake and grilled Pecan pie (Grandma knew what she was doing when she created that recipe!). Great spot! There were 6 of us and everyone was happy with their dinner! Food was tasty, there was a nice variety and our server was super pleasant!! Our only negative comment was the greeting we received when we arrived. Several of the staff walked by without a comment... We continued to stand there...then the owner walked up & said "how many" and "it's going to be a while". Not, "Hello, welcome". Just kinda odd! Other than that, it was a great evening. read more

I love this place very much great food great atmosphere we showed up this evening at 8:09 they close at 8 walk in to a nearly full dinning room and they say that we are closed so we turn around and walk out. We will not be back. We are even locals, our word counts a lot. I work in the restaurant industry and at our restaurant at 8:59 you will dine and on the weekends 10:59 you wi dine. It doesn't matter if you "are closed" no you still have people in your restaurant and just giving them there food. Sorry shrimp daddy's you just lost two great customers. read more

The food was okay but you get very little for the price. Shrimp po'boy was $11.00 and they asked if we wanted a side which was another $3.00. Quite a bit for a "dive". The waitress answered our questions but was in no way friendly or hospitable. And indeed, the owner did stop by our table a couple of times being creepy and touchy. read more
