The Troff - A Wonderful Surprise in Eustis My spouse and I,…read morealong with two friends, drove to Eustis for lunch at The Troff, and we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in. We didn't know what to expect, but this family owned full menu restaurant and liquor bar impressed us right away. They currently have three oyster bars inside, and the oysters were excellent. My spouse and I shared a dozen oysters on the half shell, all fresh and flavorful. I also ordered the chicken wings with their "cry like a baby" sauce, which delivered exactly the kick I hoped for. For my main entrée, I chose The Fisherman's Dinner. It normally comes with white fish, but they happily substituted grilled snapper for me. The dish also included half a dozen clams, a half pound of peel and eat shrimp, and jalapeño hush puppies. Everything was delicious. My spouse ordered the lemon pepper redfish dinner with coleslaw and fried okra, and he loved his meal as well. Our friends were just as happy with their selections. Our server, Ryan, was outstanding. He checked on us frequently, made sure we had everything we needed, and even spent time chatting with us about the history of the restaurant. We later learned he is the spouse of the owner. The restaurant had three servers working, and each one was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed, casual, and warm -- the kind of place where you feel like you're dining with family. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the experience. In fact, before we left, I made reservations with Ryan to bring my Sunday golf group for lunch next weekend. I'm confident they'll enjoy it just as much as we did.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. The Troff in Eustis was a huge disappointment, and we will not…read morebe back. The cocktail sauce was rancid, the shrimp were undercooked, and the service issue at the end made the whole experience worse. My husband ordered the wing special, and the waitress specifically asked if he wanted all drums or flats. He asked if that would still be the same price as the special, and she said yes. When the bill came, we were charged $5 more. My husband questioned it, and the manager came out and said the waitress made a mistake, but we still had to pay full price. That is unacceptable. If your staff gives incorrect pricing, the customer should not be punished for it. Bad food, poor handling of a simple billing issue, and no accountability from management. We will never go back.

I was super surprised by the food at Red Crab Juicy Seafood. We ordered the Family Platter A which comes with 1 Ib Snow Crab Legs, 1/2 Ib Shrimp (no head), 2 Lobster Tails, 1/2 Ib Sausage, 1/2 Ib Corn and 1/2 Ib Potatoes. Everything came out good. It was definitely worth the visit. There was plenty of seating inside. There were multiple televisions for the kids to watch. We will comeback soon to try another family platter.

WARNING: Be cautious when ordering the raw oysters, here. The server had a "I don't give a F…read moreattitude" when I had my first bite of half-dozen raw oysters. The one oyster I started to bite into was the WORST tasting I've had in a long time. It was gritty and tasted like it had died, before it was caught. I asked the server to let the manager or cook know this, as I was concerned for other customers' safety. She gave this look like it was me who was the problem. No manager bothered to come to our table, to ask me about it, either. She also scoffed at my reaction when she said that the Alaskan King Crabs market price went up to $92 / lb - which I thought was way overpriced for a place like Red Crab. So, I got the snow crab legs, which were excellent, as well as the boiled potatoes. The generous amount of butter had an off-putting flavor, but still went well with the crab legs. The corn on the cob sucked, as it was soggy, from clearly being kept in a warming oven or pot for too long. The cheesecake was small, but really good, although I did have to ask about desserts when the server was ready to give us the check. She was also slow in bringing out the dessert and updating our check, but nicer towards the end of the dinner. This is about the 5th time I've been to Red Crab - and just this location. They need to work on food quality consistency, better training on the servers, and take seriously when a customer nicely complains about raw oysters, that don't taste fresh and clean.

A local, but very special "hole in the wall" seafood restaurant in strip center in Mount Dora…read more Nicely busy with locals as well as take out orders. Service was great. The food was marvelously well-executed - my dining partner's Maryland crab cake was mostly lump crab meat with only enough binder to hold it together and the whole-belly clams were simply off the chain. The 4-Star rating is for the sparse appearance of the presentation and they charge for hushpuppies as a side - which is a Southern cardinal sin.

To get in and out of any restaurant in less than 30 minutes is a feat and I pride myself on being efficient - but SHOUT OUT to the team here because my food arrived almost as fast as my order was placed! The Seafood Basket (shrimp, lightly-breaded) was a safe bet, with homemade slaw (not bad, but nothing to write home about). For an up charge, you can get the popular onion rings which I did enjoy. This simple, unassuming restaurant is a staple in the area and I can see why. The food is just fine, nothing too salty or over-seasoned. My server was great and the tunes they play here are SOLID (Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, etc.). I would absolutely return and bring my parents. Daily specials are available as is my recommendation to come here and have a Whale of a good time.
