I would give it 0 stars if I could. The Troff in Eustis was a huge disappointment, and we will not be back. The cocktail sauce was rancid, the shrimp were undercooked, and the service issue at the end made the whole experience worse. My husband ordered the wing special, and the waitress specifically asked if he wanted all drums or flats. He asked if that would still be the same price as the special, and she said yes. When the bill came, we were charged $5 more. My husband questioned it, and the manager came out and said the waitress made a mistake, but we still had to pay full price. That is unacceptable. If your staff gives incorrect pricing, the customer should not be punished for it. Bad food, poor handling of a simple billing issue, and no accountability from management. Super sweet daytime bartender There were a couple older people who sat down at the bar after us who had a 4 year old child who kept taking super loud and demanding attention from people at the bar- kinda weird that a child sat at the bar anyway. Fish tacos were meh- tortillas 10/10- filling was chopped fish that was dry and not seasoned well. The spicy mussels were not seasoned well, mostly in a tobasco broth. An oyster bar in the true sense. You come here for the food, not the atmosphere. Oysters are good, and reasonably priced. You have to get the oyster chowder -- the best I have ever had. The other menu items we had (frogs legs and snow crab) were very good; the frogs legs were some of meatiest I have had and the snow crab clusters were big and the meat sweet. We've lived in the area full-time since 2017 and drove past this restaurant countless times. We're not "oyster" people so never stopped in. What a mistake! Nice friendly neighborhood bar feel with great service and very good food. I had the Mexican Scampi which sounds and is eclectic but delicious! My wife had the daily special which was the seafood platter. It came heaping with fresh cooked shrimp and white fish and clam strips cooked to perfection. Both of us ate until gorged and took half home for tomorrow. The service staff were all friendly and we had someone asking if we were ok or needed anything about every 5-10 minutes. The food was served hot and fast. Not a single complaint. (If you're into oysters they shuck them right at the bar in front of you and the couple at the end of the bar seemed to enjoy them to no end) We'll be back often! read more

We tried The Troff this evening and the steamed oysters were delicious! The four of us ordered at the same time. After enjoying appetizer, the three entrees came at the same time. About 5 minutes later the last entree arrived...incorrectly cooked. Okay I know mistakes happen. They assured me my entree would be a few more minutes. The rest of my party continued to enjoy their meals. My entree did not arrive until well after everyone was finished with their meals. When they finally brought my dinner out I told them I wasn't interested. When they brought the bill they removed my entree I hadn't eaten but didn't do anything else...I mean I think they should have comped at least a drink?!?! The place is a cozy place (not really setup for larger parties like ours but we made the best and sat at the bar.) We had Andrew taking care of us and he did a great job! I love seafood and some times the oysters taste so fresh and other times they come out warm (never on ice) and they just have no taste. If you eat oysters here it's safest to have them steamed a little just to be sure they are a little cooked. I don't trust their fresh oysters. They really need to keep them on ice and super chilled. But their shrimp and apps are all really good! The jalapeño poppers and dips etc are really good. Lots of beer choices. Specialty drinks are hit or miss. All depends on who is pouring. No consistency with special drinks. I usually stick to just beer or a simple vodka and cran bc you will be disappointed with anything else especially for the price!!! Overall it's a very laid back atmosphere but warning.... the bathrooms suck. They totally need upgraded and cleaned. I feel like after washing my hands and leaving that I need to wash again. I usually have hand sanitizer with me. The place is just older and could really use a little overhaul and some love. But for the most part food is good. Myself and buddy went over here to try the food both of us hadnt been there in years so we said why not. Now for context were both colored men, we sat at the bar and patiently waited to be addressed by the server. After 20 min of waiting a group of older folks came in, about a party of 5. They were instantly handed menus and orders taken, we had yet to be even asked what we wanted to drink. Im not someone whos quick to say racism but as the only two colored people in the establishment we felt completely ignored and unwanted there. By all means give it a try if youd like but I have no intentions of spending money where im obviously no welcomed. We even made a few attempts to get the waitresses attention, she made eye contact with us multiple times, all to be just ignored as if we werent even there. Very busy place, but in a good way. Service was excellent and never felt "left alone". I ordered the all you could eat Mahi-mahi. The fish was so most I couldn't believe it was mahi-mahi. I never ordered more fish, the first helping was enough for me. The price was excellent! I would highly recommend this place. Only warning is: when we first got there it was packed and on the loud side. Don't let that deter you, you won't regret eating here. This is not located downtown so there is easy parking, even a lot next to it with designated motorcycle parking. It's fairly small inside with most of the seating at either bar. Full bar with multiple options on tap, but no ciders. Coke products. Three servers tended to us, which was great. I had the shrimp dinner. Boiled shrimp was ok, a bit flimsy but tasted good. Hush puppies were amazing. I didn't care for the red beans and rice. They were saucy and there was a smoked flavor. I didn't even finish them. They clean the tables with a bleach-cleanser, which is great that they are diligently cleaning, but the smell is overwhelming and to me, unappetizing. read more

The worst experience in the area. We walked in with 5 people (3 seniors with walkers), they said "sit anywhere" yet no table was set up for 5. When we tried to change the seating ourselves (since the while server stood by watching) we get a shout from across the room "we can't change seating)! Ok then do you want to help??? So I have always loved Yelp because when you are in a new place it helps you find good food.....Yelp does it again. I won't say why were so far from home but know we need a good meal to lift our spirits. We happened upon the Oyster Troff through a little Yelp-stalking as I like to say. Got there two minutes after it opened already 6 people had already beat us in.... a good sign. It was oyster bucket special Saturday and those already there were taking advantage of the special. We ordered up a good mix of items not knowing how big the portions would be.....we took a bunch home. Oysters were cold and sweet and delicious. The gentlemen shucking them was the 2018 World Shucking Champion.....no kidding. He did it great. My son said the fish basket was the best he had ever had in his life. The side salad was large and fresh. The cheese sticks were the only thing that was average. The hush puppies were very good and a large portion. The atmosphere of sitting at a raw bar of olden days and having the interactive experience with others in the bar was great. Our server was flying around taking care of everyone. She did great. I've been here once with my father and it was great! Sadly the second experience was not very good. And it was a take out order. I've been sick and not eating much and my father mentioned he was going there with my uncle today. I asked him if he could bring me home a grilled chicken sandwich extra extra blackened and tomato, mayo on the side. I'm in bed, I just want something I can taste and comforting to eat. I wanted my side as red beans and rice as well. Well.... The sandwich was a dollar more than what was advertised on their personal website. The chicken was cold, barely blackened, they couldn't sub beans and rice instead of fries and I had to pay for that extra. Now I wasn't there but he sure was gone a long time. He said from the time he ordered till the time they brought it out, it took 45m for one grilled chicken sandwich. When he got home I saw that the chicken was cold when I opened the box so I had to heat it up. While I waited, I dove in for a bite of beans and rice. Completely ice cold. Like they just took it out of a walk in cooler. Ice cube cold. Not even room temp. I was really surprised to be getting such a bad order after going there once and loving it. I'm saving my receipt in case the owner decides to reach out to apologize. I'm local! I want to go back! I want to support locally owned businesses! This place is everything that you could want in a central Florida bar: it's local, affordable, and loaded with good food and drink. I've been down in the area for several days, and this local gem was by far my favorite watering hole. We rocked some oyster shooters and scarfed down a dozen or so oysters. Omg! The oysters were fresh and succulent, pitting to shame all other pretenders to the oyster house throne. Seriously, I wish that I hadn't eaten before, because I think that I could have demolished three more dozen easily. The service and the locals were also fantastic, and I'm glad that we stopped by for s taste of authentic Florida. Would I stop by again? The Troff has been bookmarked on my Yelp for over a year. Finally during one of my visits (I live in Minnesota) we made time! The OT was packed. It was a lot larger than I thought. They had the main Troff bar and then another bar with a troff. The backroom was also a seating area. The menu was extensive. They also had a ton of specials on neon boards. You don't get plates here. You eat your oysters on the counter/bar and toss them in the wooden troff. How cool! We ordered two deluxe combos of oysters. These were cooked and featured three different flavors. The Parmesan one was my favorite, these were grilled style. Next we had a bucket of raw oysters. The bucket was huge! The master shucker shucked all of them in front of us and set them on the bar. They offered different hot spices and fresh lemons. Lastly we had the seafood Mac n cheese. Heavy of the cheese and oh so good! I will be back her next year during my visit.
