On my commute, I went a different route in the hopes that one of the farms in Somis would be open before 9AM, and thankfully, Patty's was. I stopped by and bought a full flat of strawberries for $44. Despite the berries being smaller than the ones from Las Posas Berries, they were equally sweet, and the staff kept stuffing the flat with more berries as I got my card to pay. Super helpful, quick, and delicious!

They are pretty fairly priced but it can add up quickly if you get too excited getting a bit of everything. We like to come by during berry season. We also come for pumpkin season. They have a few rows of fruits where you can shop and pick yourself. Sometimes they will also have pre selected boxes where you can't swap, just take as is. I do think it's better to pick your own fruit. We've gotten pre selected boxes before and haven't had great luck, with some fruit being old and on the verge of expiring. Good to know: they have a giant pokeball for decoration by the parking lot, which makes a good photo op for kids (and adults too).

Do they taste better because I picked them myself? I don't know! Yes? Regardless, they are delicious. The staff here is always so friendly and they are so welcoming to large groups. This is a great place to run the kids around and there are plenty of activities you can do for free or a small cost, like animal feeding, rides etc. My son loves all the playgrounds! Pick an open spot and park right there. Environment: After paying for admission, we got to explore the animal portion of the area. There were many different animals to see and you can also purchase food to feed them. There are also swings and slides in this area. Some areas will require extra tickets that you can purchase separately. We had a quick look around and then headed on over to the tractor-drawn wagon ride which took us over to the strawberry fields. It's a pick yourself experience and there are boxes and bags that you can grab to fill up (the best thing is that you can sample them while you pick). There are also various vegetables that you can pick as well. We wanted to check out some of the bok choy, but they were not available, boo. Once you're done, head back to the front Farm Market near the entrance and pay for your items. I will say that their strawberries are juicy and sweet! When I was in Ralph's this week, I didn't buy some of my favorites because of the gouge prices. I think the bananas were 80¢ / lb and I balked at the $4 pineapple. But when I went into Moorpark Produce I couldn't believe the SUPER GOUGE prices. I needed some milk, and DID NOT SEE a price tag. Like a percentage of us, I did not look at the price before I casually (habitually) used my phone to pay electronically. When I got home, I noticed that a half gallon was FIVE CLAMS. Thats about 2.8 times Ralph's price for the half gallon. I could have bought Ralph's FULL GALLON for only $4. I felt like such an idiot for not checking the price. I would have left the milk right at the check stand. Not worth the effort to go return the unopened container. But I DID call them and let them know why I'm not going back there. Price gouging may bring some more profits, but I feel in the long run creates a loss of customers and wasted food, from what doesn't sell. The store should be embarrassed.
