Came in for HH after a nice walk around the neighborhood. Sat myself at the bar and was immediately helped. I ordered their fresh lime margarita ($9 on Tuesday) and the HH bratwurst. Both were great.

HOlyyyyy SQUONK?! BATMAN! I fucking love Shultzy's, I repeat, I fucking love Shultzy's. They are perfect for a no host happy hour with colleagues, or impromptu get together with friends. Yes, it can get loud but what do you expect out of U district? Their happy hour menu is great and the food for the price is very reasonable. The service has always been very kind and considerate when it comes to making substitutions or getting good suggestions. I will never not get their beer, cheese, tater tots those are heavenly and all of the comfort that you could ever want or need. I also got their bacon cheeseburger, which was very good and as you can see the ingredients all of the veggies are really fresh especially the lettuce. It was butter lettuce, and usually the lettuce or the tomatoes make or break a burger. Everything was delicious. Had a great time with my colleagues. I've come here several times and I will keep coming here because of the atmosphere the affordability and of course the beer cheese tots.

Comfy German food and beer place in the U-district. Staff was quick to take my order and very nice. They have some high back booths if you're looking for a good place to have conversations with friends. Prices were a little above average for the Ave, but not outrageous.

Shultzy's is a small bar located on the Ave (aka University Way) near the University of Washington. It's a German bar that serves many draft beers, German sausages, and other German fare. I came on a Thursday early evening and it was not super busy. There were TVs at the bar for sports games and the bartender was pretty attentive. Wells were $5.50 which weren't too bad. They're open late which makes for a great nightcap after a night out.

Hot Dog lunch special (Vienna Beef Frank and Fries for $7.50 with an added Moscow Mule for $2.00)

Nice location with a pretty decent deal on lunch with a drink at the time I came in - plenty of space inside. Ordering and paying was primarily through QR rather than off an actual real menu, which I wasn't a huge fan of, felt a little more tedious than it had to be. Hot dog and fries were decent, Moscow mule was passable, but the bun.... why are their buns like that?? Why not just use a normal hotdog bun from the store?? Their buns are so crazy gigantic and bland, it makes it harder to eat on multiple levels - it was very goofy. All in all, for a ~$10 lunch with a drink I wasn't disappointed but I definitely wasn't impressed.

Food isn't anything to write home about, but the location (vicinity and interior) is a strong reason to visit. Had an average experience, but overall positive. Great spot to hang with others and enjoy some drinks, food, or games being played on the screens. Service is solid though and the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Shultzy's just reopened a few weeks ago since they shut due to COVID (last Tuesday iirc) so I'm sure they're still getting everything together. The hours here aren't quite accurate as I visited past10 PM, but they do have a limited menu as the kitchen is closed. Kitchen closes at either 9 or 10 PM. Before closing, they still serve fries, chicken tenders, and fried chicken for food options. Got to stop by after the reopening and will definitely look to visit earlier in the day for the rest of the menu, so expecting to adjust rating especially after everyone gets back into the swing of things. You can scan their QR code located at each table to order online. If you're with others, by scanning the same QR code, you can all add to the online order and then pay online too which is convenient. I've seen this at a few places recently, but it's not totally adopted yet so it was awesome to see that Shultzy's has offered this as an option. Arnold palmer was very standard, just lemonade and iced tea. I mean that's obvious but figured I'd mention it since I happened to take a picture. Fried chicken is juicy, these things are nicely fried and have a great crunch to them. You get one sauce for free and any more costs an extra 50 cents. You get about 9 pieces or so? They advertise it as a pound of wings.

    Bratwurst

Great atmosphere with attentive service and a comfortable noise level, but my friend and I were disappointed in their bratwurst: the sausage was small, dry, and musky but not fatty or umami. The bun was too big and dry and the sauerkraut barely had any flavor - we wanted a kick of vinegar. Coleslaw was average with scant mayo and flavor, but the shoestring fries were nicely crispy. As their #1 selling sausage burger, it was still an edible kind of good, but not delicious or worth the $16. Positive overall experience, negative food experience.

    Bbq Bacon Cheddar Steak

The burger was super delicious and quite filling. The bacon cheddar cheese steak was super delicious and i loved it a lot. The fries are small and crispy, definitely one of the best fries I've had. The ambience is really nice. Its not too loud and is pretty cozy for a bar/grill. I can talk to my friends at the table and still hear them. As for the service, i would say its poor-decent. My first time the waiter was really sweet and checked on us. However, as we left we noticed there was an extra $30 charge and went up to dispute it. Apparently, the waiter accidentally put 2 shots/drinks on our tab so it took us some time disputing that. Then there was issue with paying. The payment was not going through so we had to call the waiter to pay traditionally. The second time i visited, the waiter was okay checking up on us. There was once again another issue with paying. This time it logged me out and didn't allow me to pay so we had to call the waiter over so we can pay traditionally. When i signed the receipt and got ready to leave, i noticed they didn't give back my card. I had to go up and ask them for my card back. I cant imagine how much more annoyed i'd be leaving at 1am and realize my card wasn't with me. Also, they kept yelling or going to every table saying the grill will be closed and if you need to get anything then order now. Happened so much it got irritating so maybe if they can just do it once or had a thing in the app that notified you saying you cant order certain things past a time would be nice. The app/website to pay is so buggy and annoying to use, so if you aren't tech savvy you might struggle. As for the price, it's outrageously expensive for how much you get. You get barely half the size of a large hot dog for $16-17. I didn't order drinks but i heard the alcohol level is stronger, so i guess you'll be getting your money's worth. I would recommend this place if you are wanting to catch up with friends late at night and want to hear them speak without screaming. Besides that, I wouldn't come here to dine or get drinks casually in the daytime. Kind of expensive but if you dont mind that go for it! The food is yummy.

Pliny the Elder on Tap. Yesssss!
    Mel E.

Giving a 5 star, mainly because they serve Pliny the Elder on tap. It does not disappoint. Got some happy hour Seattle Dogs. They were ok, however, at 6.50 each happy hour hot dog, don't seem like a happy hour price like all other of there happy hour menu. But they do serve Pliny on tap, all that pretty much matters to me today.

Super disappointed - I have to agree with the other critical reviews on this place... THE STAFF IS WHAT RUIN THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Expect to be greeted with hostility and disrespect upon entering Shultzy's!!! Ordered some fries and a drink the other night and was minding my own business with a couple friends when the shorter waitress with black hair (wouldn't disclose her name when asked as I'm sure she expected a yelp review was in the works) who had been snappy from the get go began kicking us out!! I was shocked until coming on yelp, reading some other reviews, and learning that this is a trend! They really do exercise their right to refuse service to anyone for any reason... or even no reason at all!! Be warned! I think it is some sort of sick joke to these people. IPA selection is fine but nothing special. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I've warned my entire apartment building and all my coworkers against coming here as I wouldn't wish this type of treatment on my worst enemy. Not even mad. Just disappointed. The space was good enough with decent decor but super questionable TV placement. Tons of blind spots and almost like a joke to even put them up in the first place when half the tables in the joint would require you to face backwards or crank your neck completely sideways to even watch a game.

Still, the kitchen delays and order issues shouldn't be overlooked. On the bright side, the drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. Still decent, just not something I'd rave about. The mini golf is definitely the highlight. It's really cute how the course spells out "SEATTLE," and I loved the little Space Needle to end the last of the mini golf holes. That said, there are only 9 holes and they're pretty small, so it goes by quickly. Drinks are all on tap and feature local/Washington breweries, which I really appreciated. I love supporting local! We came during their February deal and it was such a great value -- $45 for a pizza, two pint glasses to take home, two drinks, and unlimited games. Honestly, that made the experience feel totally worth it. Duffleboard was fun, though it looked a little outdated. They also had cornhole and a ping pong table, which made it feel like like there variety of things to do. Loved the vibes/ambiance (fun art and murals) and music. Overall, a fun spot for a casual hangout -- especially if you catch one of their deals!

We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!
