Ok, I AM downgrading this time, because not only were the sopaipillas halved again - such that two stuffed sopaipillas were actually one sopaipilla cut in half, but they don't seem to smother anything in chile anymore. What is the point of ordering something red or green when there is no red or green. If you want chile sauce on your item you have to order it a la carte. They also substitute a cheese enchilada for the tamale in the Rio Grande Platter (supposed to be Chile Relleno, cheese enchilada, red meat tamale, taco, chile con carne, rice, beans), which I really don't mind, except that the tamale is more expensive, and... has meat! Wouldn't mind as much if the substituted enchilada was meat and not just cheese. They are skimping to save money... but if they want to do that, they need to change their menu to state that... Not TWO stuffed sopaipillas but two halves. No TAMALE in the Rio Grande platter, but TWO enchiladas. And NO chile sauce on any of the items, unless you pay to have it added. read more

Had to get one last Mexican meal before I left New Mexico. Some locals told me about this place and recommended to me so I gave it a shot. Lines were very long (drive thru), probably about 20 min wait till I got my order, but long lines are a good sign. The food was pretty good. I got the stuffed sopapilla with ground beef, one red and one green. Was not disappointed and forgot about the wait. Good way to end my trip. I am really incensed right now. It is 2022. I have been eating at the Si Señor restaurant since the 90s as a kid. I wanted the vegetarian plate. I'm glad I asked because the beans are made with lard. They have no vegetarian option for beans. How in the world is this possible in 2022? I don't eat lard. Many don't eat it. The restaurant side at least does have the vegetarian option. It will make life better for everyone. It's just average service though so that's why it's rated as such. Food: 3/5. This is New Mexican cuisine, straight up (but they advertise it as such, so don't expect authentic Mexican). The flavors are good, the beans taste like they actually use lard, so vegetarians watch out, rice is solid, chile sauces are great (prefer red over green here though). However, they really just slop it all in there and half the time it leaks out into the bag, and the sauce just got everywhere else so it didn't really stay on what I ordered. The sopapillas are really good, just really greasy. They give you four different "salsas" but I only really cared for the red one. read more

3.5 Stars. The drive thru lines are a pain the the butt. There's 2 entrances and you get confused which car came first. And a lot of the times very crowded and long lines. This drive through is one of the best meals you'll buy in Las Cruces. There's a good reason why there is always a line of cars in the drive through. Although the prices have gone up recently, it's still a great deal for what you get. I've eaten there dozens of times and never been let down (can't say that about many restaurants in Las Cruces). This is a more convenient part of the original Si Señor restaurant. The lines almost always are long and the entrance and exit locations are very confusing; causing a bunch of traffic jams and cutting from other cars. Besides the car situation, the food is pretty much the same as the original Si Señor restaurant aside from smaller portions of chips and salsa and faster cooked food. In a hurry, I do like that it's convenient for take out but if I had more time, I'd rather go to the main location and dine in to avoid the long line. Plan to wait a while in line during the busiest hours of the day (lunch time, after 3, etc). read more

I love from the chips you get with the three different salsas to sopapillas but the horchata water is awesome! I ordered this time around the shredded beef three tacos but wanted my tortillas fried and smothered in salsa and with guacamole and they did exactly what I ordered then the quesadilla was awesome with beef and guacamole OMG!! Ordered a very simple Potato, egg & green chili burrito however it must have been too complicated of an order. No green chili, raw potatoes, and mushy. They did not even include the little to go cup of green chili and told me because I had ordered green chili they assumed I didn't need a side of it. Food is great and they always hook it up with some extra sopapillas and/or chips w/salsa. I appreciate their drive-thru being open during this COVID-19 crisis. Edit: I have one complaint, but it is not the fault of the establishment. When you are waiting in the long drive-thru line wrapped around the parking lot, there is a side entrance from Lohman. I noticed a lot of inconsiderate, ghetto people will go to that entrance and cut everyone off. Frustrating to say the least. read more

The take out version of the restaurant. When I was in college this was the best for me. I would call in and pick up! The website says this place does not open until 11 or 10, but this location is open at 7 am for breakfast! The only drawback is you can only get the sopas plain. If you want cinnamon and sugar you have to go to the restaurant. The staff here is fast, friendly, and courteous. Another great feature that this "to go" restaurant has is outdoor seating! Newly added! We took our dog with us last trip to Las Cruces. Coming in we had stopped at Sparky's for take out and ate at the hotel, but leaving I wanted to sit. But as many pet travelers know that is not convenient in most areas (except Taos). This place was perfect! The restaurant has a nice cover for parking and shade. We parked, rolled down the windows in our vehicle and the dog was happy. He could see us, but was not too interested in sitting outside on cement. The tables outside are small so fortunately during summer no one else was out there so we spread out, but the tables are the right size for two meals on the table. I of course had to have chips and salsa because that is my favorite at both locations! For quick food to go, or food to order and sit outside with your pet Si Senor Express is the place to go in Las Cruces!!! read more

On a holiday overnight stay from Texas, we decided to stop in because of decent reviews. Is the 20 year old working the cash register really expecting me to eat my sopapillas without a fork and knife? Is she really expecting a surprise visit from the health department at 7PM on a Sunday, so much so that she insists that a weary female traveler can not use the toilette? I am certified Food Manager, I have never heard of any rule that says that guests can't walk through a kitchen to use a bathroom. I have done so before, at other restaurants, and I would never be so cruel to an out of state traveler! After I spent nearly 19 dollars on sopapillas plates, including "special" green chile mixed with a can of cream of celery, redulent with homespun tales of MSG this customer service "expert," who definitely wasn't hired just because she had a pony tail and a smile, forced me to drive back to my motel, and in the ensuing ten minutes, my food got cold and my sopapillas became totally soggy. Are you kidding me? Even Caliches has a bathroom! If coagulated orange cheese, MSG, customer service tailored only for those who live down the street, and paying twice as much for your food is your thing, this is your kind of place! If you prefer REAL Mexican or New Mexican food, Good Green Chile without a bunch of filler, and a place to GO if you are traveling? Steer clear, although I must say, that I think that from now on travelers who dine here should just spare themselves the humiliation of being lied to by some kid who lives at home or in a dorm; pee in the parking spaces, since the owners care so much about their customers that even though the parking lot was packed, they don't furnish a bathroom or teach their employees to be kind! read more
