    43. Vegetable Lo Mein

I used to eat here all the time when I was younger, glad to see it's still around and that the same family still runs / owns it. Portions and food are good. This was my first time getting an egg roll and noticed the meat inside was pink, the few bites I got in before noticing were good. Service was speedy, I ordered there and food was ready in less than 15 mins.

We grabbed takeout here this weekend after reading the great reviews! We had a coupon which brought our grand total to $20 bucks! Orange Chicken with Orange Peel: 3.5/5. This was a flavorful dish and the chicken had a nice crunch to it. However, I wasn't a fan of the actual orange peel so I picked around it! Egg rolls: 2/5. I can't describe why they weren't great, but they tasted different than a normal egg roll. They weren't super fresh and the filling seemed off. We ended up throwing them away. Sweet and sour chicken: my husband had no complaints. Pretty good portion size for what you pay! Every combination comes with rice and an egg roll. Crab Rangoons: 10/5! Saving the best for last. I am definitely the type to judge my entire experience off of the crab Rangoons at a Chinese place. For $5.50 we got 8 and they were big. Not the dorky kinds you get sushi places or even Thai places. These had a nice crunch and tasted fresh. They heated up great in the air fryer as leftovers. Overall, I would come back but I have had better Chinese. I don't think I would dine in as the building smelled like they were having some sewage issues. Great for takeout though!

I've been going here for years! It's by far my favorite Chinese take-out place in the KC area. The portions are LARGE and the food is always delicious and hot. Some of my favorites are General Tso's chicken (orange chicken was a little too orange flavored for me and this is a good balance), beef and broccoli, and the lo mein. The crab rangoons are some of the best in town, and I would always recommend getting and order of those. The lunch deal is one of the best things they offer. It's so cheap for all that you get. I love this place, and it's always great to support a local family run business!!

Decent fast Chinese food. Egg rolls and general's chicken both had the same taste of old cooking oil.

Just average food. There are better places to eat. But eat here if you want a lot of mediocre faux Chinese food. Sorry to say.

New Chinatown ended up being such a good find, and I'm honestly surprised I hadn't tried it sooner!…read moreWe had General Tso's, Beef with mushrooms, egg roll, crab rangoons, and chicken fried rice as the rice choice, and almost everything was banging. The General Tso's had no spice, which was totally fine because the flavor was still great. The chicken fried rice was amazing and honestly deserves its own little shoutout. If you don't get anything else I'd recommend that and a crab rangoon! The mushrooms in the beef with mushrooms were great too because, let's be real, mushrooms don't need to do a ton to be delicious! My only small feedback was that the beef itself was a little bland, but a splash of soy sauce fixed it right up and I would say that is my only speedbump here. The crab rangoons though? Lets talk about that real quick. New favorite in town. They're made a little differently than the usual ones I see everywhere else, and I am obsessed. They're extra crispy and have a nice filling. Inside has a few tables, so it's more minimal seating than a full sit-down restaurant, but it was insanely clean and honestly looked brand new. Parking is in a strip mall, so there is some parking available, but limited exclusive parking right in front. I was surprised when they said they've been around since 1999. It looks like they just moved in. I'm so glad I found them because this is definitely going into my regular rotation. They also have super affordable lunch specials. We only spent about $20 for everything, and for the amount of food we got, that felt like such a good deal. I have two meals out of the portion.

I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting. There was a sense of urgency and I appreciated that.

You do have…read moreto pull off of a busy road straight into the lot, but it's easy to find in the strip of stores and there were plenty of spaces. By the time I grabbed our food and headed back out, the front spots had already opened up again. We did two lunch specials for around $20 total, which feels like a steal for how much food you get and how good it was. We ordered the Chicken with Cashew and the General Tso's lunch specials, both came with soup and a side. The cashew chicken was seriously incredible. A lot of places overload this dish with veggies until it turns into chaos, but this one was balanced with the right mix of ingredients and is easily one of my new favorites in KC. Only bummer: hardly any cashews. Still delicious, but I wanted a little more cashew love. Crab rangoons were hot and crispy with a solid filling even after a bit of a drive home. The fried rice had great flavor, and the steamed white rice was bouncy and soft, not that kind with crispy dry edges. Both soups were spot on, and THANK YOU for including wonton strips. A lot of places skip them and it really can make or break egg drop soup for me. General Tso's had great flavor, but the chicken pieces were a little big and it wasn't very spicy, even though we didn't order it no spicy. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know if you want that classic kick. Inside is clean and cute with tables for about 8 to 10 small groups, the front desk is toward the back, and everyone was kind and helpful. As an Elite, I also loved seeing their Yelp pride around the restaurant. Overall, super solid lunch specials and I'll absolutely be back!!
