Wow. Sid's is all I've ever wanted from a karaoke bar. Read reviews before going and my expectations were not only met, but exceeded. The only thing that wasn't AWESOME about this place, was the 'bouncer' determining who could enter the karaoke space. Upon entering you are met with a very speak-easy vibe, great music, great drinks. One of the bartenders seemed a bit of a snob, so it took a lot longer to get served than it should have. There is definitely a 'cool kid' vibe in the front house, but once you get past the unnecessarily strict 'bouncer' character and settle in, you're going to have a blast! Most importantly on the singing - if you're coming with a party over 2 people on a Saturday you absolutely need to make a reservation. Two, if you do karaoke Bc you know you can sing, awesome - but I would suggest taking a look at that night's piano player's song list, choosing what you want and listening to it ahead of time. A lot of pop songs won't translate to a simple piano accompaniment. And tip your pianist (well help get you on stage if you throw in a little extra )!! read more

My wife and I just celebrated our 20th anno in NYC this weekend. Wonderful city... first time.... this was the most memorable, enjoyable time and made our weekend. If you want to hear some piano playing and singing, I'd suggest you go elsewhere. If you want to hear a crowd of 20 somethings screaming at the top of their lungs, totally disrespecting the pianist and those who came to listen, this is the place for you. Even those seated right at the piano were speaking so loudly that I couldn't hear the singer half the time. I simply can't believe the inconsiderate behavior of the public today. read more

Stumbled upon this place while entertaining out-of-town guests and immediately fell in love with the beautiful interior lighting, friendly staff and chill ambiance in the back room. You can sit right at the piano and hang out, and they had excellent piano bar karaoke after 9pm which was a lot of fun after the delicious glass(ok, glassES) of wine we threw back. The pianist Michael Garin was so talented and engaging and a lot of fun to sing with! Will definitely be back and hope they'll continue to get a good crowd going! read more

Had my bday party here and couldn't have asked for a better experience. They had no problem accommodating my party of 12 even though the place has been open for less than a month and has limited seating in the back room. My guests enjoyed their food. We all loved the drinks...the speciality cocktails were tasty, specifically the cucumber margarita (called fresco or something like that.) We got there around 9, right when the piano karaoke kicked off. Once the crowd picked up around 2 hours in, drinks orders seemed to get backed up and the wait to sing was understandably a bit longer but it was just as fun to hear other people do their thing. Wanted to like the place but the bartenders made me really never want to walk in here and I won't because there are way too many options to care about this one. I asked if a drink was too sweet and he started to tell me he only drinks whiskey because he is a man...lol ok? Never been to a cocktail bar that can't answer a simple question. Guy made an old fashioned for a friend which tasted like water, lemon peel and whiskey. When I asked the female bartender if we can get something else she said that's the drink if you don't like it not my problem....hahaha I really found this funny because they acted like they were rockstars not a bunch of loser bartenders at some crappy wanna be cocktail lounge. I always have a great time here. I am also intimidated by the incredibly talented people who come here, NYC has an amazing wealth of talent! You have to have a decent baseline of talent to sing along to a piano accompaniment!! It's a friendly crowd, and one of those places in NYC where creative magic happens nightly!! Came here for my birthday after singing along at the WFUV gala. Grabbed the front couch section, and the bartenders were awesome. Everyone was well-fed and with drink in hand. The only glitch was that the website advertised happy hour piano karaoke that didn't happen, and after a private party hour was finished the pianist continued to focus on their requests (and most of them were pretty bad). Almost don't want to tell, but man, might be the best kept secret in NYC. Front room is any old bar, nothing special. Back room is live piano karaoke that is fantastic. Perpetually entertaining mix of people singing - everything from amazing broadway types to drunk everyday folk. And no matter who gets up there, it's a great time with a great vibe. Has bit of an LA look/feel to it (Swingers), mixed with whole lotta NYC energy. Love bringing folks here - always a memorable time. read more

Very cute atmosphere, but drinks and service could be much better. Bartender did not know a classic gin drink and made me the wrong one, and refused to make another to replace it. Once music started at 7:30pm, everyone sang along to the piano and you could tell everyone takes it very seriously. We were shushed for trying to have a conversation! read more

In theory this place should be great - but the bar staff act like they hate the place and the room with the piano has no atmosphere - its over lit and kinda uncomfortable when its crowded. A very nice spot. The food menu feels a little limited, but the drink menu is good and the Tuesday night bartender (I can't remember his name) is very good at mixing cocktails. The pizza is a little spicier and saucier than expected. But the deviled eggs and Mac and cheese are both worth it. And singing with Joe McGinty at the piano is a joy. I've met nice people here, too. Ummmm....heck yeah!!!! My friend and I decided to visit this bar in December for happy hour. Omg!!! So much fun!!!!!! A glass of wine was around about $7 or $8,pretty reasonable. As a meal,I got one of the pizzas which was ultra yummy. My friend got a salad which was delicious!Service was excellent! The owner was tending the bar and was super warm,pleasant and friendly.My friend and I continued to throw back wine,and we ended up staying for the karaoke portion of the night which happened in the back room. There was a pianist and everything! It wasn't packed,so we were able to go up and sing a FEW times! A little Brittany Spears "Baby One More Time" piano version sealed the deal! I've been here 3 times so far and love This secret uber cool piano bar in this fast changing neighborhood. Excellent cocktails and meatballs, pigs in a blanket, shrimp cocktail and small pizzas. Oh and live piano karaoke after 9 pm. My new favorite place in this hood. read more

Wish I could comment on the pianist, or the food, or the atmosphere, or anything else - but cannot. Went with several friends on New Year's Eve, and got as far as the front door. The bouncer was very nice to us, but advised that there was a private event starting soon, and said it was closed to walk-ins. As we looked in and saw the place completely empty, we asked if perhaps we could just have one round, as we all love piano music. The bouncer was gracious enough to say he would see what he could do, and he motioned for who I believe was an owner or manager. That person rushed to the door as fast as he could, heard the bouncer tell him "these nice guys are asking if they could just have a drink until the party begins", and belted, "absolutely not - this is a private event!!!" I was blown-away that somebody could be so rude to us, when an appropriate "Happy New Year guys, but we are having an event tonight. Would love to see you another time" - would have sufficed. It goes without saying that I'll never find out how great the place may or may not be, as I'll continue to go to the MANY other piano bars where I'm treated with respect, and enjoy.
