We came here because we were staying nearby at Salishan, I am glad we did because I can't say enough good things about The Side Door Cafe. We chose this charming, eclectic restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcomed. The staff had written our names on the sidewalk entrance, showcasing that we were celebrating our anniversary--a delightful personal touch that set the tone for the evening. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We started with a beautifully presented appetizer of fresh burrata with perfectly toasted bread. For our mains, we enjoyed a succulent steak topped with juicy shrimp and a flavorful seafood pasta, both of which were cooked to perfection. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were evident in every bite. We also indulged in their hand-crafted cocktails, the espresso old fashioned was amazing! A little off the main road and right before Depoe Bay, we stopped to check this place out. It's a charming vibe and I love the decor including all of the jello molds all over the walls! The menu has a lot of options. We tried to order the burrata on the specials but the server forgot to put the order in. Oh well. That being said, our sever was gracious and the food was delivered promptly. I ordered the halibut over risotto and my husband ordered the halibut sandwich. The halibut was excellent. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the non-alcoholic sparkling wine as I've recently quit drinking however, the Marionberry "mockarita" was excellent! Service was good. We had luch. Room was quite for a Wednesday afternoon. We had a order for bread starter full baguette and cultured French butter. It was warm and tasty. All of us ordered the Crab cakes and grilled shrimp with red pepper broth and mashed potatoes. It was wonderful and very filling. Asparagus was the vegetable. The atmosphere was calm and serene. My family eats here every summer when we visit Lincoln City, and it's always a huge highlight of our trip. My go-to is the burger with gorgonzola, avocado, and bacon jam, which it turns out is a truly mindblowing combo. The bacon jam in particular is the best I've ever had--kind of mapley, but still very bacon-forward. I always get it with the potato salad, which is lovely. I've also tried and greatly enjoyed the ravioli, but that burger is unbeatable in my book! The dessert options are all killer; I'm consistently torn between the salted caramel bread pudding and the chocolate peanut butter pie, both of which are top tier. The cocktails and cider options are lovely as well! Wonderful atmosphere--warm and welcoming while still feeling fancy. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is amazingly fast for a nice restaurant! If you're in the area and looking for a classy dinner option, I can't recommend Side Door highly enough! read more

The positive & Negative- Most important element to me is the food. It was 10/10. Piping hot- well balanced flavors, pasta cooked al dente, tender meat. We had the mushroom ravioli, the seafood fettuccine and peanut butter chocolate ganache pie for dessert. I would order all again. Next most important is the service. I was immediately off put by the hostess. She was lazy and unwelcoming. We had a reservation for 2. We were placed at a table for 4 because it was closest to the hostess station. (she was that lazy or just in a bad mood) There were plenty of romantic tables for 2 throughout the restaurant that remained available during our visit on a slower shoulder season Wednesday evening. We sat just off of the entry, feeling the cold breeze of the door opening and closing as well as lack of privacy since every patron that entered, exited or went to the bathroom had to pass next to one side or the other of our table- there is no other way around it. We could have complained and moved- but that would have skewed a first time experience as they offered it. We learned by observation that "our" hostess was a fill in. All others were seated by a much more professional, friendly young man. 2/10 Drinks- Beer and Wine with dinner- choices were varied and our selections were good. 10/10 Waitress- professional, friendly, prompt, helpful and attentive 10/10. We headed to the bar following dinner to vacate our awful table location. The bar has MUCH better table spacing and ambience. 10/10 Bar drinks- I had the worst Mexican coffee ever. Sugar not caramelized on rim, sugar was infused with something that I hated- It tasted like a flower but I was told it "might" be ginger. No notation of this on the menu. No whipped cream. I couldn't taste the kahula or 151. Just awful, I left 2/3 of it behind. We made a nice choice of liquor on the rocks as to not challenge the novice bartender the next round. Her service was friendly but skills were severely lacking. 2/10 We learned from this experience and we will return, with a bit more knowledge. There are many more menu choices that we would like to try. I suspect that the unpleasant employee experience is temporary. read more

We ordered the baguette with EVOO and balsamic vinegar, split a Caesar salad (delicious). My wife had the curry marinated lamb and I chose the seafood fettuccine with a pesto sauce. We each had a cocktail, then split the rest, including a demi-baguette, the smaller portion of the West Coast salad, the rack of lamb, and the marionberry crisp for dessert. They asked if there were any birthdays when we made the reservation and wanted to know who they write everyone's birthday congratulations on the sidewalk in chalk. Cute idea. There were a lot of us birthday girls there. There was a table next to us where a large 8 was displayed. I didn't tell her I was way into the double digits. The meal was great I had a seafood salad and we had a bit of ice cream for dessert. Service was good they kept checking in on us. What an amazing experience! I would describe this place as rustically elegant. An old brick foundry with tall open wood ceilings and mismatched furniture including old church pews. You could feel comfortable here in formal clothes or t-shirt and shorts. The menu leaned towards seafood. My date had pan fried Willapa Bay oysters with a Chipotle dipping sauce and an excellent coleslaw. I had charbroiled salmon served on top of sweet potato hash and brocolini and topped with caramelized onions. Delightful! The service was attentive, but not intrusive. I went here for my birthday dinner, and overall the experience was average. The food and service were fine but nothing memorable. The best part of the evening was seeing my name written in sidewalk chalk when we arrived--that was such a fun touch, and I really appreciated it. We visited this past Sunday for an early dinner, and while the service and drinks were as wonderful as ever, the meal was a bit of a letdown for the first time. I was surprised by the change to the Caesar Salad--the addition of pesto dressing made it feel like a different dish entirely, and I really missed the classic version. Additionally, my Hanger Steak was unfortunately too tough to eat, and while my sister enjoyed the flavor of the Scallops special, the portions were quite small and inconsistent in size for the price point.
