Stopped in to Street Side Cantina for a couple of reasons. It was close to our hotel (we didn't want to drive and pay to park), it didn't appear to be too touristy and the menu caught our eye. Tableside Guac: fantastic (saw other Yelpers post about it, it did not disappoint) Al pastor tacos: fantastic Shrimp quesadilla: fantastic Three compas: fantastic Tuna tacos: good (a little over cooked for my personal liking) Got right in, had great service, the servers we interacted with (Judith and Ana A) were friendly and helpful. We are only in town two nights and the teenagers in our party said they wanted to go back for the second night's dinner. Definitely a place we would frequent if we lived here. read more

While staying in the airbnb to the right of side street we took the one minute stroll to have dinner. The establishment is big with plenty of seating and a Mexican feel and decor. We were seated immediately and served chips, salsa and a white dip. All were good. We split a beef taco salad and cheese quesadilla. Both were as expected. The quesadilla pretty bland and dry. The salad was stuffed with meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole. Coukd have used a bit more kettuce and less heavy filling but all fresh and tasty. Service was good. Stumbled upon here during my visit to VA beach this weekend. This place is amazing! The staff is so hardworking and kind and amazing all around. The drinks and food are also phenomenal I am from Arizona and am very very picky about my Mexican food. Also being Mexican myself but the food was out of this world I had the carne asada street tacos and the dragon berry mojito. Both which were out of this world!!! I don't know how I skipped reviewing this spot. My husband loves coming here after playing pickleball during the week for some ceviche and beers. I've been a few times and the staff are always wonderful and their food is excellent. Large portions and delicious, fresh table-side guacamole. During our vacation in VA Beach my fiancé and I went here for cena. We weren't greeted at the door but the vibe was fun and cute. We were seated within 2 minutes and given something in drink within 2 minutes as well. Unfortunately my drink has a small, dead gnat in it and my fiancés water had no ice and tasted like sink water. The chips weren't hot/fresh and needed salt. Aside from the waters, our alcoholic drinks were OK! My fiancé ordered the añejo old fashion and I the mango daiquiri. It wasn't a strong drink. I ordered the taco salad and my fiancé, 5 different tacos (shrimp, fish, tuna, puerco, and carne asada). The taco salad was yummies and my fiancé only really complained about the carne asada taco being a little dry. The shrimp taco was our favorite. Stopped here on the way to our Airbnb from the Something in the Water festival. Great location, two blocks from the beach. Prompt service from Allys S. We ordered a margarita and blueberry lemonade drink, both of which were tasty. I got a Mexi-Jap roll which wasn't what I expected but wasn't bad. My friend for a quesadilla supreme which she enjoyed. This is not authentic Mexican, so adjust your expectations if that's what you are looking for. The other plates I saw being served looked good as well. My husband loved the fish tacos and his uncle loved the arroz con pollo. Our server was underage and couldn't bring our alcoholic beverages and the bar accidentally sent the drinks to someone else. So he was able to get them for us for free. My husband still tipped him like we were charged. I came here because of the mostly great reviews. But I must say, I was pretty disappointed by the food and the service. I was given the wrong food, and I told the waiter right when he dropped it off, he looked at me like I was crazy and then walked away. Another waitress walked by and grabbed the food because she realized I didn't get my correct order. The original waiter then brought me my correct food, said he would be back with my tortillas...I waited a solid five minutes before he returned with the tortillas. My fajitas had raw peppers and onions, which I'm not a fan of. I tried to eat it the best I could because I was starving, but it was honestly super lacking in flavor also. I was overall disappointed in the whole experience. I gave three stars because I would return if I was starving, but this wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican food in VB area. Have you heard of a dish called leche de tigre? Until I went here I had heard of it but never had the chance to try it. So ordered the smaller portion, the cup as an appetizer. Had a nice meal here on the first night of our trip. The staff is attentive and was able to seat us right away on a busy Friday night. The music was bumping and it had a nice ambiance. My hubby enjoyed his margarita and fajitas. I ordered tacos Al pastor and a tamarind Jarrito drink. Everything was good! My toddler enjoyed her rice and beans, and I enjoyed her chicken quesadilla, which was really packed with chicken and crispy/toasted. We had the Steak California Burrito & the Carnitas dinner. The burrito was okay, nothing great, but still good. The Carnitas dinner came with a lot & was tasty too. The carnitas were a little dry, though. Salsa was just slightly hot, so very tasty. The chips ALSO came with some "dressing". When asked, this is the response we got.
