My husband took me out for our 26th anniversary last night. He chose Sidelines and we were VERY happy with both the food, the service and the ambiance! My husband loves to eat their Cheeseburger and Fries, but even those were better than they had been in the past. Normally I would order something like a French Dip if it was on the menu, and it was, but I was in the mood for some good, old fashioned Southern Cooking. I got the Seniors Catfish & Two (sides) which were the Turnip Greens & Fries for only $8.99! One Roll came with it in addition to the two Hushpuppies that were included with the Senior Catfish Plate. The Catfish Filet was very, very large and the side of Turnip Greens very delicious and generous in serving size. I also had one of their Cocktails, some sort of Berry Martini which was absolutely delicious! Afterwards, after finding out it was our Anniversary we were surprised with a Hot Fudge Sundae, complete with Hot Chocolate Sauce with Cold Ice Cream on top of a Hot Fudge Brownie to be shared by the two of us! We thought that was so sweet (and absolutely To-Die-For-Delicious) that we tipped our thoughtful waitress 30%. Please don't forget that when service is fast, thoughtful and polite with a measure of sweetness, to tip generously. And if the food is bad it is NOT the Waitress' fault. They don't cook the food; they just relay the order and bring it to you. All of this, including our drinks & tip, was under $50! I met my mother in law here for lunch. She had been here before and really liked the food so suggested it. We sat outside. The patio area is nice. My mother in law had wanted to sit inside at a booth but for some reason they said they weren't seating that area. Maybe they didn't have a server for that section, but idk. I was happy to be outside tho. It was a really nice day so i was glad to be able to enjoy it. You do have to deal with the occasional revving of engines while people show off as they head to Walmart but nothing anyone can do about that. I ordered the French dip and sweet potato fries. My mother in law got fried shrimp with green beans and coleslaw. The French dip did not come with au jus. I didn't pay attention to the menu so idk if it just doesn't come with it or they forgot it. The server didn't come back until we were almost done so I didn't see a point in asking about it by then. The sandwich was very good, the au jus would have made it exceptional. The sweet potato fries were very good too. I usually try to stay away from fried foods and it was hard for me to stop eating these. My mother in law commented that the green beans were delicious and didn't seem to be from a can. She liked the shrimp too. Unfortunately her cocktail sauce was frozen solid. She was able to get some hot sauce tho so she made due with that. Aside from a few hiccups this place was good and I'd definitely try food from here again. Service was ok. I wish our server would have checked on us a little after we got our food so we could have asked about the au jus and cocktail sauce. Took my time to look over the menu, to be told when I ordered the Chicken biscuit plate, was told that the tater tots are now home fries. I said nahh I'll just get French fries, was told, oh those are now waffle fries. We said just come back in a min, we have to rethink. Hubby changed his order to a pizza, he really dislikes waffle fries and usually gets tater tots. I did go with my home made biscuits with chicken, and my 2 sides, I said let me try the waffle fries, and the Mac n cheese. It took over 45 minutes to get our food, I looked at my plate, it was sweet rolls, I said, I think this was supposed to be homemade biscuits. She said oh that is the biscuits . The whole reason I ordered this was because I wanted biscuits not rolls. Needless to say we won't be back. The pizza was ok, just a bit better than gas station pizza. read more

we used to love sidelines when we lived in Ashland City. The grill was our go-to on nights we didn't want to cook. Great chicken & biscuits and smoked meat in general. we were in town visiting family and decided to visit our old haunt and were so disappointed. The chicken was so tough, people could barely cut or eat it. the baked sweet potatoes were over cooked and old. the biscuits were dry, too big for the amount of chicken on the biscuit. The green beans were soggy and soupy. the only redeeming quality was our server. she was attentive sweet. We will not be coming back to one of our favorite go-to restaurant. read more

We were out previewing some new homes in Ashland City and stopped to try a "local" place on our way home. We were happy with our choice! We each ordered the Big Burger, cooked medium, me with cheddar and the fixins, hubs with provolone and bacon only, crinkle cut fries and hubs got brown gravy for his fries. Absolutely perfect burger! Nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. And y'all know I'm a crinkle cut fries kinda girl, and these didn't disappoint! Great service, friendly servers, great atmosphere! And they have root beer! I've only been once but it's a pretty good place based on that experience and definitely warrants my repeat business. I had the "Big Burger" and it was big and tasty, bacon and cheese, everything cooked to perfection. On a tasty sesame bun to boot. The fries were better than expected, perfectly crispy crinkle fries. My wife had a chicken club wrap which she enjoyed. The potato skin starters were solid. No real dessert options (other than cobbler) which would have been nice but no real complaints either. read more

I used to frequent Sidelines a lot around 5 years ago, simply because my home office was located in Ashland City. Aside from Don Pancho's, Vuocolo's, and Cody's Diner, there really wasn't anywhere to eat for lunch unless you wanted fast food. Then I left that employer and they moved their office to Nashville. Well lo and behold, I went back to that employer and I find myself having to go back to Ashland City about once a month. Despite the explosion of growth (they now have a Popeye's), I will say Sidelines is still one of the better places to eat. It's a sports bar with ample TVs, bar, and they do have live music and trivia, but I'm never there in the evenings (just for lunch), so I can't comment on that. I do recall they used to run lunch specials that were pretty affordable and worth the price, but it seems they've done away with that. All you have now is what's on the menu. Not sure if COVID had anything to do with it... I ordered the Big Burger as (8 ounce patty, toasted bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle) and added American cheese and a fried egg for a small upcharge. It comes with fries, but I opted for broccoli because I'm trying to be healthier. The burger was as good as one would expect from a fresh bar burger. The meat wasn't overly dry but that's why I get a fried egg on my burgers, if possible. The yolk adds a bit of creaminess and masks the dryness, if any. The burger was pretty big, so it required me to open my mouth fairly wide and I actually popped my jaw in doing so. I'm still dealing with the pain but I'd say it was worth it. Broccoli isn't nearly as good as French fries but like I said, I'm trying to be more health conscious, at least where I can be. We sat near the bar and the bartender kept my drink filled at all times (2x refills by the time I left). I didn't need anything else & the service was great. read more

We used to actually love this bar but in the last seven or eight months it's changed management and has completely gone downhill. The food is spotty at best most times it's either cold or soaked in grease so bad you cannot eat it. The running joke is don't order off the menu ask them what they actually have because they're usually out of 50% of the stuff on the menu. It's like nobody really cares anymore. My friends and I went to this sports bar for dinner hoping to see the panthers vs steelers game while we ate dinner. Nope, for some reason they had every other game on but wouldn't play regular cable. We wanted to sit in the bar but we're told that the only open table was reserved. My friend was confused and told the waiter that she had called before trying to reserve a table and was told that they don't take reservations. The waiter said , well they sometimes do, but only on certain days during version hours....um ok that was vague and non helpful. We ended up sitting in the restaurant section. The server brought our drinks quickly, but we waited a good 40 minutes for our food. I had the pulled pork with a side of fried squash and macaroni and cheese. The two sides were great but the pulled pork was ehh. This place is okay, but keep your options open. read more

Great folks, wonderful food ! The best hamburger in Ashland city

Hubby and I went to this Sidelines Grill today after church. We have been there several times over the past year and found it good food with no wait time at least not more then 5 minutes. Today not so sure what has changed whether change in management, or short staffed which seems to be the going thing since Covid entered the scene, but today it was a 30 minute wait and once we reached our table no one staff wise seemed to notice we were there so another 15 minutes or so before the waitress came by and asked for our drink order and if we were ready to order which due to the wait time once seated we were. She then told us they were out of provolone cheese and a list of other items on the menu which luckily we had not chosen. Then she told us silverware was not available as they were in process of being washed and would we have a problem using the plastics. By the way silverware did not start coming out till we were leaving the establishment. Once we got our drinks it was at least 30 minutes before food arrived. Fries were cold, queso was cold which doesn't work well to pour over nachos, it was quite warm in the building with flies flying and landing everywhere. Hard to eat your food and fan flies away at same time. Don't like Don Pancho Restaurant which is next door to Sidelines so back to Nashville for lunch on future Sundays as Ashland City doesn't have anything to offer in the way of food other than fast-food. read more

May go back during football season if they have specials and the Sunday ticket but very unlikely, I'd almost rather drive into Nashville. Update: found out today, they do not have the Sunday ticket. Very under staffed and unequipped. Party of 8 waited 45 minutes for salad, soup and cheese stick. Waitress came back multiple times to explain that numerous items were out of stock and we had to change 5 of the 8 orders. Waited an hour and a half to get entrees. Regular customers were foul mouthed and had no regard for the 3 young girls sitting next to them. The food was decent once it arrived and waitress did her best. Im from Indiana and I an staying at the Hampton Inn across the road from Sidelines for work this week. I came in for a quick beer and to grab some to go food. The host was great and she sat me down, I dont know her name but this was 8/22 at 7:30pm ish. My server was Dakota and he was great as well. We're from out of town - Miami, Florida - to be specific and our local family members brought us here for easy, quick bar food and drinks. There was 7 of us that walked in on a Tuesday night at about 8:00pm after a very long, weary day. The sign said "a hostess will seat you", but no employee was to be seen. There were approx 12 -15 patrons in total scattered about the restaurant and bar, and a lone man bellowing country songs on stage... He sang terrible!! We sat ourselves at a long wooden high top table in the bar area. A young girl came running over apologizing and saying that she was the only employee on the floor. She took our drink orders and got them to us quick! We told her we were hungry and assured her that we were excellent tippers! She took our dinner orders and quickly put them in the kitchen. My tomato bisque soup was good. Not excellent, but good for a sports bar. My dinner was grilled chicken Cobb Salad with balsamic dressing. The lettuce and veggies were fresh. My husband liked his French Dip sandwich and fries. My brother in Law loved his grilled steak with baked potato. My sister in law said her fried fish was very tasty (not processed, actually fresh breaded). Aunt and Uncle were happy with their Turkey wraps and the Club Sandwich. Again, good typical Sports Bar food. Solid. Our server was spot on and timing was perfect. I just felt bad for her that she had to ran the whole dining room and bar herself. I was seated immediately with the paper menu and regular menu in hand............. as I started to place the menus on the table, I noticed something sticky on my left palm. Looking at both menus, I also noticed the greenish yellow substance was covered in hair. As I pulled my hand from the menu, the substance stayed intact, stretching as I tried to pull my hand from the menu. I showed the waitress, and while we both agreed that it was born from the respiratory system of a person and not a food substance, she believed that it originated from under the table and not the menu. We eat here or in Pleasant View a few times each month. Busy place tonight--KarAoke Night. Tonight we ordered a patty melt, fries and salad. Fries were not done, the ones that were done were cold from a previous batch. The patty melt and salad were really good and fresh. The steak and biscuits were soaked in a marinade that had been done too long and the biscuits were burned and really left over--tasted and looked like they were cooked the day before. We've had both of these before and always were really good. I did tell waiter about the steak and biscuits, but did not know about the fries til my husband told me once outside. The waiter apologized and said he told the kitchen. Seems like they need someone checking outgoing orders. Was hoping the food and experience would have improved after their remodel. Neither did. The restaurant wasn't very busy when I arrived. An elderly couple was in front of me and they were asked to stand and wait for an available waitress although there were plenty of empty tables available. They expressed to the hostess how badly they needed to be sat due to their health conditions and nothing was done for several minutes while there were plenty of empty tables. Once they were sat I waited for an additional 5 minutes to be sat although roughly half the tables and booths in the restaurant were empty. Once sat I waited for my waitress for close to 10 more minutes while observed the servers all laughing and doing nothing for anyone at the bar. Finally, I'm greeted by my waitress and ask for a sweet tea to drink. 14 minutes later my sweet tea is brought to my table. The Big burger I ordered was okay although it clearly sat under the heat lamp waiting on a food runner for way too long and by the time it arrived to my table the meat was Luke warm. I finish my meal and one sweet tea and ask for the check. The waitress then rolled her eyes when I asked for a to go box. Won't be back, and giving two starts because there is zero variety of food in Ashland City. If this restaurant were located anywhere in Nashville they would not survive. I admit, making the elderly couple in front of me stand for as long as they had to while everyone could clearly see open tables and booths did not sit well with me from the start. read more

Ran out of food on Father's Day and still stayed open.. they had maybe 4 dishes to choose from and one or two sides. Awful management. What restaurant doesn't order extra food when there's a holiday during that week? And why would you stay open only to make people mad? Several tables stormed out after hearing about the lack of food. Manager tried making excuses about how they don't get shipments until Monday which was the very next day. and the one time we went and actually could get food, it was dry and bland.. will never be returning.
