UPDATE: Got a message from the owner -- the tofu banh mi IS vegetarian, with no fish sauce. It uses a tomato based sauce. It can be made vegan if you leave the homemade mayo out (the mayo is really good, btw)! I was worried when I got the tofu banh mi to go, because it made my car very stinky on the ride home! It's a pungent sandwich. But it was tasty and even my boyfriend, who is picky about Vietnamese food and funky flavors, loved it. I'm not sure that the sandwich was vegetarian, given how funky the smell was - it might have fish sauce. If you're a strict vegetarian, you should probably ask when you order. And I'd avoid picking it up and taking it to eat at work, just because of the smell! read more

Fresh and authentic dishes. This is my favorite beef pho broth in the east bay. It has a more onion essence that warms you up on a cold day. You can taste the love in oxtail pho. There also have several other delicious Vietnamese dishes to choose from if you're not a pho fan. read more

Tasty sandwich. Unfortunately a long wait though ~20min.. received apology even though I remained patient/did not bug them. I noticed they had a solid line of tickets and only 2 workers.. seemed they didn't have enough toppings prepped. I got the Tofu Banh Mi.. the only thing that seemed unusual was that the peppers tasted more like bell peppers than jalapeno.. not much spice. Bread was very good. The banh mi was superb -- the bread (always the key with banh mi) was the best, toasted just right. Flavors and other ingredients also perfect. One of the best banh mi I've had in the Bay Area. Pho, on the other hand, was less great -- if coming here I definitely recommend sticking with the banh mi. read more

The best Banh Mi I can remember. Very fresh ingredients. The vegetables are pickled just the right amount so they are still crunchy. The bread is soft, sweet, and delicious. Sadly, the vegetarian tofu bánh mì sandwich is overpriced, with too much mayo and an odd tomato sauce, poorly-picked vegetables, and it tastes like fish sauce. I would update my review if they improve this sandwich (and make it vegetarian), but the price point makes me loathe to come back soon, when there are tastier tofu bánh mìs for half the price ($3.50-5) a few miles away. read more

I came here some time ago when it was a different Vietnamese eatery. This new one is totally better. Today was still during their soft opening. The menu is brief and clean. I didn't see my Meat Ball Pho or fried spring roll (cha gio）so I went for their signature sandwiches. Beef Sandwich was recommended to me. It was delicious - juicy tender tenderloin (yes) prepared on a crispy lightly toasted (6 inch) baguette, with carrot, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. Finished my sandwich with a chill Vietnamese Coffee, a strong drip coffee with condensed milk. The name of this place is called Street Food and that tells you the kind of ambition these young owners have for this neat little place, probably a casual simple characteristic rendezvous for the spontaneous passerby (like me). The interior is quite tastefully decorated and inviting. Service was genuine. The only complaint is the intermittent unwelcome flies coming in from outside - a common annoyance with the restaurants in this corner area. I wish the owners success with this new endeavor. read more

Used to be good but now under new ownership and it has declined. I had a Banh Mi and it was not tasty at all. I sampled my friend's fresh bowl and it was similarly disappointing (bland, meat seemed old, mostly undressed salad). It also sort of smells inside and there is a very loud fan blowing. I really wish they would succeed but I don't see how that will happen under their current approach. read more

When I got home, after eating a sandwich here, I had a lot of stomach pain, and had not eaten anything else since morning, and this was about 3pm. the pain increased, until I vomited many times. The only food that came up was the liquid remains of their food. Not very fun. And my stomach is torn up from the vomiting intensity. Awful experience, which I think came only from their food. I will never eat here again. I think they also resented me for a comment I made several weeks earlier. Wanted to love this place as the location is perfect. The spring rolls were delicious but SKIP THE PHO! Their broth is nothing like the rich, but clean flavorful broth you can find at more authentic eateries. We got the beef pho and it tasted oily, without much flavor. It seemed like it was not cooked long enough and lacked the deep flavors of the traditional spices. The beef was tender, but it was brisket instead of the round eye carpaccio. Too much for this soup in my opinion. Oh well! Maybe I will give it another chance after a while. read more
