We love the chicken quesadilla, they are rich in cheese and meat, we love the beef tortas -these sandwiches are packed with stuff: veggies, meat, cheese, guacamole, fairy dust, pure goodness. This is by far the best place to get a chicken quesadilla for a cheap price. I get 3 chicken quesadillas for $6 which is a darn great deal. They usually add a wedge of lime, a slice of radish, and a bit of picante on the quesadillas, which gives it that extra kick. Most importantly, they're quick with their orders too. I had the pleasure of trying an Al Pastor Burrito (roasted pork with pineapple) I was very surprised at how flavorful it was. If you can't handle spice please note that this burrito was spicier than most. I didn't ask for spice, but nonetheless I loved it with the spice. It was only $7 and it was very satisfying. Stopped by this food truck to grab an evening snack. We ordered the al pastor- spicy pork (with pineapple) quesadilla and a chicken taco. The quesadilla here is not soaked in or glued together with cheese. They put the right amount of meat in there, most importantly, the pork is seasoned with adequate spice, it's flavorful and spicy. I highly recommend getting the quesadilla here. For $6, you get a pretty filling meal. Their chicken taco is also good, it is a bit spicy and comes with a wedge of lime. One taco is $3. I also uploaded a picture of their menu to show the other options they have. The location of the truck is so close to a park, you can grab food here and spend a lazy afternoon/evening at the park. Or, you could do what I did, I walked all the way to High Line after getting food here, it's a nice way to burn off calories and a pleasant walk. read more

I think I'm going to be sick. I tried out sidewalk taco for the first time last week, two al pastor tacos that were decent enough to hold me over until I can get back to California. So I decided to order from them again. This time I ordered a carne asada taco and a burrito. Two bites into my carne asada taco, I put it down to drink some water. The taco flipped open and lo and behold, a short curly black hair was sitting right in the middle of my taco. I am currently an blonde/silvery grey (artificial hair color) right now so no way that black hair is mine. Plus I have waist length, straight hair... not short and curly. I was beyond grossed out. I almost vomited up the food I just swallowed. All the nurses and techs in the hospital break room with me were equally disgusted and told me to get a refund (I spent almost $25 on lunch there). I tried calling the number listed and got a gentleman that put me on hold... then when he came back in the phone I tried to explain about the hair and how i didn't eat more than two bites and that i didn't touch the burrito but i no longer wanted it and wanted a full refund. He kind of brushed me off and said, "no no, that's not right." Then he asked me to hold and hung up on me. When I called back he picked up the phone but it sounded like he put it down on the table because I could hear a lot of background noise but no one was picking up to talk to me. I kept saying hello and then heard a click because they hung up on me again. I tried calling back a third time and no one picked up. It just rang and rang. I don't know what kind of business they are running or how they could treat customers this way... but DO NOT EAT HERE! I told all the nurses and doctors on my floor at Mount Sinai not to order from here ever and I will continue to spread the word. The hair in the food grossed me out... but their treatment of me after the fact left me disgusted. read more

This review is for the amazing physical location recently opened in East Harlem: Have to add on to what everyone else is saying here - this place TAKES THE CROWN in our neck of East Harlem! Firstly, the customer service is outstanding, and whenever I go into the restaurant the staff genuinely seems happy to have me there, and happy to be serving a high quality of Mexican food! In addition, while it's a fast casual dining atmosphere - it's still VERY beautiful with awesome street artwork on the wall. The food is the highest quality AND quantity for the price I've seen in East Harlem (a haven of Mexican and latino food). I highly recommend the cemitas, but just about anything is great. My wife is vegetarian and especially loves that the vegetarian nachos are chock full of ingredients, unlike many vegetarian nachos out there. Recently a new "shall not be named" VERY overpriced and "high-end" Mexican restaurant opened next door to Sidewalk. Save yourself a lot of money and time - and just go to Sidewalk! Appropriately priced and of the best quality. And, you'll be supporting a wonderful small business that cares a lot about what they're doing, and who they're serving. Many people may not like like the changes in Upper Manhattan (East Harlem), but I won't hesitate to soak up all the improvements in this NYC neighborhood. The decor is nice and trendy with art work that creates a nice chill out vibe. You can always choose to take out, deliver or sit on the stools facing out to 2nd Avenue as you enjoy your tacos or guacamole. On my first visit I tried the chicken quesadilla and it was very good. First of all, the guac is DELICIOUS. I would've never thought. Just the perfect amount of cilantro, not too overpowering, just right. The chips are fresh. Crunchy and sprinkled with cotija cheese. Let's just say I'd eat these all by themselves. The chicken burrito was more than I expected. Perfectly seasoned chicken, the rice and beans are awesome and there isn't too much sour cream to the point that it's oozing out. Their service is quick and the sell Jarritos!! I went to this place based on the fab reviews and was sorely disappointed. While the food was freshly prepared, it was lacking flavor despite the pretty colors. This review is for the Washington Square location of Sidewalk Tacos. Couldn't find a separate Yelp page for them! Sidewalk Tacos is some of the best Mexican food you can get in New York, and certainly in lower Manhattan. They make everything fresh in the truck and their ingredients are on point!! Both their red and green chili are delicious and more subtle in flavor than what you'll get most places, really well spiced. They also cook their beans and rice in a way that makes them actually interesting, and always fresh as well. If you're vegetarian, they have a great combo of fresh roast veggies you can get in any of the styles (burrito, fajitas, tacos, etc) and they'll also do cheese enchiladas. Yum, buttery corn tortillas just seared, with cheese. The prices are pretty low and they also include fresh lime and avocado--just the best! and consistent too.
