Foods decent coming from a truck but the main restaurants is probably the place to get the real McCoy. Prices are a bit steep but it is midtown Manhattan. And since the public can't use the cafeteria in the hospital. This is what it came down to. read more

I ordered at this places for a few times in the past, and the food was good. But, recently, the restaurant's customer experience from UberEats has been very bad. Order cancelation happens on a daily basis without notice. It's super frustrating! I'm not sure about the food quality now, but since I want to let people know how bad the customer service here is, I decide to leave a 1-star rating. Stay out of this restaurant as much as possible! read more

We tried the chicken nachos, chicken tinga taco, and chicken burrito. Of the three, I liked the taco the most. For $3.50, the taco had a ton of meat and flavor. The restaurant even provided two salsas to go with our meal. read more

I was staying over my Mexican friends apartment and I asked her to recommend an authentic taco place, and she chose this one. Delicious! I ordered shrimp, carnitas, and chorizo tacos, as well as their guacamole. The food arrived fast and hot. Tender meat (I hate overcooked taco meat), and they offer harder to find items like pork ear. Their guacamole is *loaded* with a huge layer of fresh pico de gallo with bright, ripe tomatoes on top. The salsa verde is not too spicy. Would love to order again! read more

This spot is killing it. The carnitas they offer are BOMB. Tender and flavorful and sooo juicy and just. Ugh. Little bits of caramelization. With freshly fried chips (huge bonus) and all the other nacho fix-ins, this amounts to a textural playground and a pile of tasty ass food. Fall in love for $12. Chorizo burrito SMACKS, too. So much flavor! And it's served right: simply wrapped in foil. Can't understand why NY has such a hard time with that. Is the chorizo made in house? Is it heaven? Sides of salsa are clearly homemade and also very delicious. The red salsa in particular is complex, dark, and I would drink it. The side of chips ($2.50) were also freshly fried, and that's actually one of the most important taqueria touches, in my book. I'm calling Sidewalk Tacos the best taqueria I've found in Manhattan. read more

I moved to Manhattan from SoCal four years ago and since then, I've been having such a difficult time looking for good Mexican food here. I really wasn't expecting much from this place but I actually loved it. I haven't tried everything yet, but from the fajita plate and the taco I've had, I'm excited to try the rest! It's the closest I've had to Mexican food in SoCal in the UES so far. Can't wait to try the rest and update my review. read more

I live about a 5 minute walk away from Sidewalk Tacos and up until today it was my go-to place for when I want fast and delicious food. I'm a creature of habit so I usually always get the chicken quesadillas and churros. Well, today I opened my churros and EACH churro was broken. It was absolutely bizarre. Honestly, it looked like someone had taken a bite of each one and then put it into the bag. What gives, Sidewalk Tacos? This is extremely disappointing and it's disturbing that someone thought this was okay to give to a customer. I doubt I'll be coming back. read more

I passed by Sidewalk Tacos a few times, as I am in the neighborhood quite often. I finally came here with a couple friends and I got a chicken burrito that was everything! They used flour tortillas which is my fave. I'm not too much of a fan of corn tortillas. My friends had the nachos and the tacos. Alright 1. I love tacos. Especially tacos that stand out!!! I've ordered tacos mostly from here while visiting my mother in the hospital. It's been around 2 months and maybe 10+ orders later. The chorizo tacos are pretty good for the price. But if you dont ask for any sauce you wont get it. The chicken tacos arent completely a different experience but its alot less greasy then chorizo. And the al pastor w pineapple, well unfortunately maybe it was just the time I ordered it but Everything sorta tasted the same in the end. (Pet peeve) they really skimp with the limes. I personally like a good bit of lime on my taco but when I squeeze them only some juice comes out and I'm left with putting pulp on my tacos. Bc they are some how sorta dry. Idek. My last order I ended up just throwing tortillas at the birds bc I realized I didn't really like the food and the taste. Also the disappointment of once again not getting sauce for my dry tacos with measly limes. The radishes they add are cool too. I put them in my taco for a lil crunch to mix things up read more

I was very skeptical of this place because while NYC has lots of great food options Mexican isn't typically well represented at least in Manhattan. But wow this place honestly was great. Ordered via a delivery service and was impressed with not only the portions, but the presentation and packaging as well. Tacos were generously filled and horchata was tasty too. Highly recommend. Only room for improvement would be to include a salt packet for the radishes. read more

My fingers smell like nachos while I write this review. Thats always a good thought to have. It makes picking your nose so much more enjoyable. I ordered the steak nachos. Chips tasted great. There was a lot of flavor to the tortilla that I could probably just eat the chips alone. These appear to be house chips and not some factory-made chips. The meat was juicy and tender. I loved the taste of the cheese. It's some Mexican cheese, maybe Cotija? It's great because it's not too greasy or oily while still having strong flavors. Topped off with fresh veggies gave everything a fresh crunch. The fresh salsa and pico were not watery so the chips stayed fresh. The only downside was a few of the chips were kinda stale. read more

I was looking for tacos one evening but not just any taco. I wanted a place that served beef tongue tacos and this place was it. I also wanted some warm and soup for a cold night and the pancita was calling my name. Taco toppings were generous and delicious and the pancita was finished in over three days because of large portion size. It tasted like a home made soup, not too salty with plenty of tripe for days. read more

Very nice taco spot, usually poised right near Mount Sinai. I wasn't superbly impressed with the burrito--the rice was a little soft, and everything was just a little bit too wet and mushy-- but the tacos were super fucking legit. The chicken was flavorful and moist and I really enjoyed the sliced radish. Prices were reasonable; I'd stop by again, and stick to the tacos. read more

I love their chicken tinga quesadilla! I suggest ordering ahead for pick up, as they do sometimes have a wait during peak lunch/dinner hours. Tasty and affordable for a quick lunch in East Harlem. I've also ordered catering from them for a large office lunch and it was delicious. read more

Sidewalk Tacos is truly one of the best food trucks AND one of the best places for Mexican food in the city. Can always count on it to both fill me up and fulfill my cravings. Have usually seen this truck around the NYU area, either in front of the Stern building, on Laguardia, or on Washington Pl. I've ordered vegetarian nachos, quesadillas, and tacos from the truck and have not been disappointed a single time. The nachos are loaded with beans and veggies, drenched in a spicy salsa and cooling sour cream, and the chips stay nice and crisp until the end of your meal. The tacos are delicious as well - a much lighter meal with a super fresh taste and lime for garnish. The prices are also resonable, making this an A+ food truck. My mouth is literally watering writing this review. (I know what I'm getting for lunch today!) read more

This is my go-to Mexican food take out place. I love the nachos here, but they are much better when you eat them in the restaurant. Everything else I have ordered has been great as to take out. I have ordered the al pastor burrito ($8) one of my favorites, milanesa torta ($8) very filling and was able to make 2 meals out of it, chicken nachos ($10) better in the restaurant, and the carnitas platter ($9) my new favorite take out meal. The carnitas platter is delicious and crispy. I recommend getting a side order of 4 tortillas ($1) even though it already comes with 3. read more

Since moving to the neighborhood I've been eating my way around the wealth of great casual Mexican cuisine, knowing it would be a long search for the best, probably finding a different restaurant for each best version of a menu item. Reader, Sidewalk Taco beats them all. Now I haven't FULLY explored the wonders of 116th yet, so I'm not going to testify to an al pastor knock-down dragout, but this place has the best burritos, tortas, cemitas, and tacos of any I've found thus far in the neighborhood -- to the point where I've started working through the menu not to miss anything. I honestly can't think where I would have had a better torta. The staff are friendly and fun, the decor has a real idiosyncratic, cool vibe...it's one of those places that makes the neighborhood better just by being here. read more

I wish this place weren't so far away! We were up in the neighborhood to adopt from the shelter on 110th. We had to wait for some test results before our kitty could come home with us, so we went to grab a bite to eat in the meantime. The ladies at the shelter recommended this place and we were not disappointed! I had a chorizo taco, and my husband and daughter shared the steak nachos. Food was fresh and delicious and the meal was very affordable. Friendly staff as well. Highly recommend! read more

I almost didn't wanna tell people about this place because I go there a lot and didn't wanna eventually wait on a long line for the goodnissniss. Found out they have mobile food trucks downtown. Aiiight, lets go! Everything I've had is awesome. No exaggeration. Made correctly. Meat cooked like it was begging to die and get on that plate, veggies the perfect texture, sauces distinct and flavorful, tortillas and taco shells fresssssh and wonderful. Nothing overdone, yet nothing holding back on authenticity. Nothing overdone with too much cheese or sour cream, or shredded lettuce. Big servings to feed you, yet not overwhelm. You can share the first time, but the next time your taking the second half home for round 2. I boxing train a block away & my coach sent me here, and whoa! I could train for 2 hours, get hit in the face for 6 rounds straight and I still get my street clothes on thinking of a plan to walk over there for a righteous lunch or dinner. My faves are the burritos, tacos, and nachos and if you see a sign for flan GET IT. It will leak a bit on my way back to NJ, but it's worth a messy plastic bag once a bite of that flan enters yuh mouf. I love the environment, I love the music that plays, I love the cleanliness and the lighting & art is great. The diva at the counter is efficient and friendly (and her nails are always amazingly designed). The kitchen staff look content, and that energy is in the food and environment. I've brought over folks who are picky with their Mexican food, curious about where the good places are to go in the area, and vegetarians, & all of em loved it. No other place will do, we're spoiled with this good stuff & there ain't no turning back. read more

As a Los Angeles native, I'm very particular about mexican food especially tacos and I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Ordered delivery here and everything was not only reasonably priced, but also fresh and delicious. Also, there arent a lot of spots in the city that make tostadas and Sidewalk Tacos does it excellently. Highly recommend. read more

I would like to add one thing to my review and Yelp only allows you to edit 30 days after your original post. But it's this, Sidewalk Tacos consistently uses two and three times the amount of plastic product then is necessary. It is strange. I have asked them many times not to give me plastic bags and to just put my stuff in a paper bag. They always throw plastic spoons in, and if you order something to go, they put your item in two or three separate plastic containers. Just irresponsible and wasteful. read more

I've been to the original truck several times and the owner has always been kind and fast. So, when I noticed that Uncle Luoyang had a newer, snazzier truck, I was excited and happy for the owner. And when I noticed that the line was far shorter than the ones for the other trucks, I was excited for me. Perhaps that should've been my first clue that the new truck was not as good as the decor would make it seem. When I ordered in English, it took a few confusing minutes before the woman understood my order. This isn't surprising or too much of a negative, but I just thought I'd mention for those who can't speak Mandarin. I ordered my usual, the pork burger. It took less than the time for me to pull out my wallet for the food to be ready. Rather than coming in the wax paper envelope Uncle Luoyang and neighboring trucks have used in the past, it came wrapped up in foil. The "burger" seemed painfully thin and I became a little suspicious that the fancy new digs meant a decrease in portion of offset business costs. When I opened up the foil, these suspicions were not only verified, but were exceeded in appalling levels. The bun had less than a quarter of the portion of meat I had received from the old truck. There was not even enough pork to cover all of the bun in a single layer. The pork itself was deliciously flavored, but lacking the wonderfully unctuous fatty portions that lend moisture to the burger. As a result, the burger fell flat and left my mouth dry from too much bun. The only plus side is that if you're looking for bread, it seems the bun is thicker than ever. This is a pretty good deal. Note: the menu may say it has potatoes in the rice dish, but that is not true. 3. Noodles ($5), again two choices: - hot noodles (a typical traditional Chinese home-made noodles) - cold skin noodles (the dish comes with a small bag of hot sauce for flavor) 4. Pork burger, $3. This is really good. About 3 - 5 minutes wait time if no line. 5. Chicken fries: I think this is similar to Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, but I have never tried to it so I can't comment on this. There are some other items such as dumplings, hot & sour soup (listed as hot & spicy soup), and Xi'an Hu La Tang Soup (listed as Spicy soup) may not be available every day.
