This place has obviously been recently renovated and looks fantastic! The rooms have a rustic modern vibe to them while still maintaining a very comfortable feel. It's the little details that made the room special such as really nice shampoo and conditioner and shower gel in the shower that isn't smaller than my palm. Actual good lotion that moisturizes your skin not just wets it. Keurig coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and a lovely balcony overlooking the pool that has cute cabanas and a big fire pit with chairs surrounding it. We will definitely come back to stay here again! read more

First of all, don't look at the photos and book your room, you'll get a completely different(smaller) room than you booked. You won't have a couch, kitchen and a bunch of things you saw in the actual room. Also, their young and curious housekeeping guys enter your room before the check out time. Even though you have a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. They just wandering and try to catch you naked or having sex. When we had a problem with our room type, they basically said there's no other room available and they blamed the hotels.com. When we had a problem with their housekeeping entering the room before the check-out time, "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, hearing us having sex, hearing me we're not available, instead of leaving started to stare at us; they said that their employee doesn't agree with us. Of course, he wouldn't; I guess they expect an adolescent guy to say yes I entered the room intentionally. After all, they charge you nonsense fees for housekeeping. Ours was a "urination stain" on the bed. I don't know how they believe 2 educated adults leave a urination stain on the bed. When I say there's no way; the manager said the charges will stand if I want I can dispute the charge. Because if I do dispute they'll keep the money anyway. To sum up; false advertising, no customer service, invasion of privacy, untrue accusations to make some extra money. I know this place is cheap but I definitely would say go to an even cheaper place, for better service. read more

So I was a little concerned when my husband booked us here because it was an "Inn", however, It was great and I would stay there again. The hotel room was great, updated, modern and very clean. The TV was a bit small for the room and kind of hard to see from the bed, but that's not a big deal. The bed was a little harder than we like but oh well. Since it was during COVID there was no breakfast, but the hotel left you a sheet to fill out nightly and hang outside your door. Then the next morning a bag was dropped off with banana bread, juice, yogurt and fruit enough for your party. It was a very nice touch. We did run out of hand soap the first night and mentioned it to the front desk staff. We ran out to dinner and came back and found some on the desk in our room, unfortunately they brought shower gel and not hand soap. I didn't bother to call about it because I had picked some up while we were out afraid none would be brought. Also they didn't leave enough toilet paper in the room. My only complaint was the pool. We were told when we checked in they were using a reservation system and providing bands for the pool and monitoring how many people because of COVID. We used the pool briefly Friday evening for perhaps 30 mins. Saturday after a long hot day of wine tasting we stopped by around 3 to use it. I was told there were about 20 people in and that we could have the last 2 spots. We got back to the room changed and my husband arrived first. He got the last pool chair. When I arrived a few mins later it was hard to find him in the pool. I jumped in and after a bit more people showed up and it just got worse. We finally had enough and got out. We counted 35 people at the pool and hardly anyone was wearing wristbands. Several large groups were gathering in the pool drinking. On the way out of the lobby we mentioned to the staff that the pool was not safe and there were way too many people in there. The one girl apologized, peeked out and said it appeared that some had appeared without them knowing but then did nothing. Actually, she had come out twice to the pool while we were there to chat with a guest waiting to check in. You didn't need to see the staff to be let in you just opened the gate. Perhaps if you are trying to watch the amt. of people you stick a lock on the gate and only allow the staff to open it. Despite the above, I would stay here again and would recommend it. Room cleanliness is a huge thing for me and this place had it covered. read more

We've stayed here a few times. It's a clean place with updated rooms and fairly reasonable. Our last stay though was a bit rough. We checked into our room and it was freezing! We turned on the heat and left for a while so it could warm up. I know it's an extra expense but if the hotel is expecting guests, they really should keep the rooms at an appropriate temperature. We got back from dinner a bit later to a much warmer room. However, as we got ready to turn in for the night, the heating and air unit started making a loud shirking noise. There was no way we could get sleep and leave the heat on. I tried turning the unit off and back on but the noise kept coming back. Finally, I called down to the lobby and asked if we could move to the room next door. Unfortunately, that room was freezing cold too because again, they don't keep the rooms at all respectable temp when not in use. In any case, this was our only hiccup. I'm not sure it will keep me from coming again. Next time, I might ask them to turn the air on prior to my check in. read more

Stay away from this place. Some nice things, some not-so-nice things and one really awful thing that was not dealt with at all by the inn. Let's start with the big nasty: They might not be using unique codes to each room, or else someone flubbed very badly. I was undressing for bed, more than half naked (and we had not yet bolted the door but it was closed and locked to the outside), when a drunk couple who were supposed to be next door used their key card to enter our room. It was shocking and humiliating, especially when I could hear them laughing raucously through the very thin walls. The staff (not Joanna, who was not on duty when we complained) were ho-hum about the whole thing when they should have been horrified. One said, it was really busy last night at check-in. Oh, wow, that helps a lot! They were so blase about it, I get the feeling this was by no means a first for them -- though it certainly was for me. They took our $11 resort fee off the bill, which is NOTHING in comparison to that, which colored our whole experience. This is an expensive hotel! We could have and SHOULD have stayed at a lovely Santa Barbara hotel near the ocean for less money and driven the 40 minutes to the birthday celebration that was our destination. But the main issue is: For this kind of money, you need a nice, well-run hotel. One where guests aren't humiliated, where their valuables and potentially their safety aren't jeopardized by sloppy staff and where people take an unconscionable situation as something serious. Nice: Room was absolutely clean Comfortable bed The pool and pool area are large, clean and pleasant Joanna (hope i have the name right) goes out of her way to help. She was not there when we complained (twice, to two different staffers) about the above. But she brought ibuprofen from the front desk when we would have been fine going to the desk to get it and in every way showed concern for our comfort. Not so nice but minor: The door to the bathroom didn't close completely or latch at all. The hair conditioner dispenser didn't work. The shower head was beyond low-flow ... it took forever to get my hair wet. The furnishings are cheap aside from good mattresses Walls are thin Breakfast is awful. A bagged bagel from many states away, sugary yogurt, a cheap apple in the midst of a growing region. Way too expensive for what you get. read more

Iv been staying here every weekend last month and now starting this month. I really like this hotel super cute, beautiful layout and close to everything, however the floors always seem to be sticky. Three of the rooms Iv gotten smelled so bad I had to change rooms. One smelling of cigarettes to where you can't breathe the other two smelling like mold. I again want to change my room cause I'm staying few more days however already moving it two other time I'm nervous and requesting it again. Never fails each time I stay the maid always enters my room when I haven't checked out and have do not bother sign on my door. Makes me wonder if I leave are they going through my belongings. Definitely would say don't leave private things in your room when you leave to go in to town. read more

A tastefully renovated Inn that has everything you could need for a stop through. Great pool/lounge area, room decor feels vibrant and fresh, breakfast each morning is a nice amenity to be included and the Sideways Lounge was the COOLEST hotel lounge I have seen in awhile! I liked it here, it is away from Solvang, and my husband didn't realize that when he booked it but I was fine with it. The room was nice, the bed was comfy, and the shower is weird... there is no door, only half of a door so the water drops get all over the floor. The TV kept glitching out. There was a fridge and a microwave. I loved their hair dryer. The maintenance crew started sanding down something in the morning so it was loud and my husband was very irritated by that. He wanted a nice peaceful morning. They brought a bag of breakfast items, a non-toasted bagel, apples, yogurt, and juice. The Keurig machine they had didn't work well. The coffee was like water. They have a continuous supply of coffee in the lobby which was nice. The jacuzzi was small but nice. The pool looked good but didn't go in it. I would stay here again. Truly the best value I've experienced in Santa Barbara county. I have stayed in many hotels in the county on business and vacation, and this hotel really stood out to me. The rooms are quite spacious, uniquely decorated, up to contemporary standards, and had everything you could need (microwave, fridge, hairdryer, sitting area, etc.) Everything looked clean and felt comfortable. Outside of the room there are plenty of amenities on the hotel grounds, though during this stay I didn't use any. Maybe next time! The minor complaints I have are that the lighting is a bit dim, that I couldn't take home the toiletries (lol), and that there are no curtains over the door and window, but instead just blinds. I prefer curtains as they provide more privacy. All around, for the price and area it was a great stay and great value. Would definitely stay again. read more

Everything about this place was perfect. Plenty of parking, clean modern look in lobby, grounds and our double queen room. Carlos Haro was a delight at the front desk and he even upgraded our room, we loved the balcony! I wish we could've enjoyed the fire pit and spa at night but we had arrived back a little too late and it closed at 10 pm. I would stay here again and I would definitely recommend it. It's about an 8 minute drive to Solvang and it's a 3 minute drive to an amazing restaurant called Industrial Eats. read more

I am a total fan of this "motor inn" is how I would like to think of it. It's very clean, renovated , reminds me of mid century modern look. I love the look of the drought resistant gardens all thoughout. The pool looks deep enough for fun and the hot tub looked clean. We did not have a chance to dip in, but we did sit around the fire pits and adironrack chairs. The bed and pillows were not that comfortable, but the details in the room for the nightstands to resting chairs made the room cool. The more I was in it, the more I liked it. Sadly we only stayed 1 night, the complimentary breakfast was danished, bread, hard boiled eggs etc.. We did not get a change to hang out in the lounge, but it cool from the outside For the price, this place is a steal, I was able to get a room from groupon for $107, cheaper than the website price read more

Such a cute spot!!! When I checked in, a really sweet host was helping the guest in front of me. The guest shared a really cool story about her reason for visiting. The host (manager/owner) not only upgraded her room but also gave her a complimentary celebratory drink to enjoy! We stayed in a bottom floor dog friendly room #29. The room itself was decorated in such a cool way, everything from the sitting area and wall photography to the bathroom toiletries! Room #29 is very spacious with a king size bed, seating area, and fairly large bathroom. The room also has a sliding door to a back patio. You have a couple chairs to relax in and watch the courtyard happenings. Our pups love to people watch so we hung out there for a bit. The center courtyard area has a pool and a fire pit. In the evening we took a stroll through the RV campsite next door. There's also a little bar but we didn't go in. Overall the environment was really nice and everything was well kept and clean. As far as neighbors and privacy, we didn't think the walls were too thin. The continental breakfast was really cool. You fill out a slip with what you want (a few basic options like yogurt, fruit, juice...) and then the breakfast will be dropped off at your room in the morning at whatever time you select. This was a great hotel. Completely renovated since the movie. Rooms are modern and clean. The pool is in a central courtyard with plenty of seating and clean towels. There are three fire pits to relax around at night and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Terri G was amazing and made sure everyone in our wedding party was taken care of. The attached bar had more fireplaces and served great drinks. Next time we come to the area we will bring our RV to stay at the attached RV/trailer park. It looks very clean and well managed also. I have to be honest, I truly didn't want to have to write this review. My family and I came to Solvang to celebrate my sisters birthday. All together we had 6 separate reservations for a minimum of 2 nights each. Everything was going fine until my husband came back to our room after a day in Solvang to find the our bed was COVERED in ants. Our luggage was also on the bed and was infested. We immediately called the front desk while my cousin went into town purchase me an outfit to wear to dinner since all my clothing was covered in ants. The young lady at the front desk had the audacity to make it seem like we were putting her out to get a new room. I later spoke To Brock who was kind enough to refund us 1'night of our stay. Once we got home we realized that even with cleaning out the luggage it was still FULL of ants. We used sprays and insect liners but it didn't matter. They were everywhere so we decided that we needed to just get rid of it. After many calls and emails to this hotel there was no one willing to help us. I just got off the phone with Brock saying his regional manager reached out to me.....and yet wasn't going to offer any type of compensation. Mind you I now have had to purchase an outfit to wear the night of the incident and get rid of my luggage. This is horrible customer service, especially considering the business we brought in. Be wary coming here, who knows what you'll leave with. read more

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Sideways Inn. It's located right on highway 246 and the exit and entrances to the 101. It is minutes away from Ostrichland USA, Solvang, and only 20 minutes from Los Olivos. The room we stayed in was superb and was exactly like their online photos. Sideways Inn is also conveniently located near gas stations, an Albertsons, CVS and fast food chains, as well as a movie theater. The room had eclectic artwork on the walls, as well as a trendy barn style door to the restroom and a nice-sized balcony overlooking the fire pits/pool. The beds were also super comfy. They are also pet friendly which I really appreciate. My family and I enjoyed the bar lounge on site, as well as the fire pits and pool. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and gave us recommendations on where to watch fireworks for the 4th of July. One minor issue was the breakfast. My family and I arrived to the breakfast hall at 8:45 am and the only items that were left were cereal, milk, apple and orange juice and a few slices of bread and apples. It was disappointing to find the waffle machine not working and no hard boiled eggs being offered. I understand they were understaffed, but I expected a decent breakfast during my stay. Overall, it's a lovely, pet friendly stay near all of the Santa Ynez Valley attractions. I would definitely come back again for a quick weekend getaway. read more

We were on our way back home to Huntington Beach from Monterey when my car decided it was done driving at the exit for the Famous Anderson pea soup. It was late Sunday night and my boyfriend, kids and I needed a place to lay our heads for the night so I can figure out what I was going to do about my car. The Sideways Inn sign was right across from us. What a awsome find! This place is so cute! Johanna was so awsome! She was so helpful and made our night so much smoother. The rooms were clean and stocked and they also did a morning breakfast drop off to the door for us to limit contact . There is laundry on the property,a lounge/bar, and a full fitness center, pool and hot tub. Due to the COVID19 it was closed. But we we able to sit by the fire pit and have a cold drink to end our night. The decor is so quaint, it's like farmhouse/vineyard, and how cool that the movie Sideways was filmed here! I have to say we will definatly be back once we are off the COVID19 restrictions. read more

Overall, this place was good, comfortable and convenient. Closer to Solvang. Beds were good. Table area around the coffee machine had cockroach smell. Fridge and microwave were convenient. The showerhead was fixed and would spray water in a very small area. That design could have been better. Also, good if the bathroom barn door had a handle from inside to slide ! The disappointing part is the breakfast. For such an expensive room, it was a cold bagel, fruit, juice delivered to the room. A wonderful surprise! I'm a professional interior designer and am rarely impressed. My room had been remodeled at some point in the near past, and a professional designer was clearly used - unusual for small business'. The room was very "boutique hotel" - very much a Pottery Barn kind of vibe - velvet curtains, country bedspread, eclectic furniture with interesting details. There is a collection of 8 large framed historical photos on one wall, and is very well thought out and organized - something impossible for a novice to do, and difficult even for a professional designer. Also, the room has some very modern hotel touches, like a hard wood floor, with out a carpet - much more sanitary than a hotel carpet - and USB ports. I was just stopping by on my way to Sacramento - booked on Orbitz - you always wonder what you're going to get. I liked this place so much, I seriously considered staying an extra night because I liked the place so much. And I NEVER writ reviews on Yelp - but I really thought they deserved recognition. We come to Buellton to visit family so I'm happy that this location has been renovated. The location is perfect and the newly upgraded rooms are great (since we were there many years ago). I would have happily given this a 4-5 star rating except for the fact that our room was never dark so sleeping was a challenge for us. The blinds on the door and the window (on the 2nd floor) look great, but did not shut out the hall lights leaving our room in a dimly lit state the entire night. A second but definitely minor issue occurred when the light was blinking on our phone. Not seeing any instructions for getting messages, I called down to the front desk. The response was that they didn't know the phone could accept messages. Period. Not a huge deal but it left me wondering how effective calling the front desk would be for other matters. Other than these 2 things, the place was great. read more

This hotel is not worth staying at.... seems that it went under a recent renovation, and it wasn't for the best. The lighting in the rooms is minimal. Decent and cute decorative fixtures, but they didn't put in the type or quantity that would be adequate to actually light the room. THE SHOWER. Terrible...The shower head looks nice but the pressure is awful. It takes about 20-30 seconds to get a washcloth fully wet. Also there is no shower enclosure. Half of the shower opening is open, and the other half consists of a fixed glass panel. The combination of a partially closed shower and no pressure leaves you freezing cold. Overall it's not a nice or comfortable place to stay. read more

I stayed here for a corporate event at flying flags and the hotel was way nicer than what I was expecting. The property must've gone through a recent remodel Bc the rooms all look great, the beds are comfortable and everything just feels fresh. The staff in the lobby were all super helpful. I managed to lock myself out of the room and the lady at the front desk gave me a replacement key with no questions asked. (I think that's good..) Check in was super quick and they have some refreshments you can get right there and take back to your room. The only kind of annoying thing I encountered was the showers - the water splashed everywhere with those half doors. And I wish I had a tub to sit in. We really liked this hotel. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Wood floors, decor was different, breakfast served to your door in the morning. Our friends were camping at Flying Flags and this hotel is connected to the campground. There is an entrance you can walk through to get to the campsite. Very convenient so you don't have to drive around. We didn't use the pool but it is open. There are fire pits and picnic tables on the property you can use. Check in was smooth. Good customer service. I would come back in the future. read more
