I went to get my A.C fixed and had such a great experience. It was quick, easy and a reasonable price. Dropped off on a Wednesday and got it back on Friday due to the fact that they had to order parts. Paloma did such a great job at describing what is wrong with my vehicle and what they'd need to do to ensure everything is fixed. Professional, Great Service My youngest daughter has an older car and it needed to pass smog. Her car failed the smog test. Ugh! She has taken it here at Sierra Gear for service from the recommendation of her friend. We had a pleasant experience dealing with Joshua, the mechanic, and the sweet gal who handled the payments (unfortunately, I didn't catch her name). The shop specializes in transmission work but they can also do other services for different types of cars. There were a few things that the car needed to be serviced and Joshua provided us a detailed rundown of the work that was done. The car passed smog and I feel much better that my daughter's car is safer to drive. She'll have to settle and take care of her little Cube until she can afford her dream car LoL The shop is not very big and is privately owned, employs maybe 4-5 people. I was skeptical of how many cars are parked in front of their shop but they diagnosed my check engine light, told me it wasn't a big deal and I didn't need repair or pay. They didn't try to get me to pay for anything!!! Decided to get an oil change and it was done fast and reasonably priced for synthetic. They topped my wiper fluid off and I was ready leave within 20 minutes. 5/5 experience. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would do not take your car to this place I repeat do not take your car in I had my ac done here about 2 years ago they where suppose to put a new a.c. compressor and I had to take it in like probably 15 time I was dum because then winter came and I let it go the next year it worked some what fine and then this year it brakes and I take it to a new place and they come to tell me all the parts are old nothing is new and they have to fix everything because this place couldn't do there job right and just wanted to make money off of me please do not go do not let them rob your money. We usually have had good experiences at Sierra Gear which is why I'm giving an extra star, but this experience turned us away. This time around the entire parking lot was full of cars to work on. I would not go to Sierra Gear shop when they are so busy, and in fact, I will be finding a new mechanic altogether. We dropped it off, and told them our car keeps breaking down and needing the battery to be jumped despite a new battery. We waited a week for a diagnostic, had to call them ourselves, they told us that they didn't know what was wrong since no code was coming up, so they asked if they could drive it home to see if the light would come on so they could run the code. The light didn't come back on/it didn't break down for them, so another week later they called us to tell us to pick it up. When we came to pick it up they had charged us $45 for a seal. I asked what a seal was and they said there was a small oil leak so they sealed it for us. We drove home and our car ended up breaking down again and having to be jumped again. A friend recommended we go to O'Reilly's and have them test our battery and transmission. They ran a quick test and said our battery was great but the transmission was blown. O'Reiley's sold us a new transmission for $130 and we were able to install it ourselves the same day since it was in an easy to reach location in our car. Our friend who helped us out also noticed that the oil was still leaking. So 2 weeks of no car and $45 down the drain. You may be able to understand our frustration at this point since we had to borrow someone's car for 2 weeks for something that was such an easy fix. In a way, I'm glad we found out this way because it was probably cheaper in the long run, but I just feel like a mechanic should have been able to run a quick test on the transmission, especially with our symptoms, and holding our car for 2 weeks and didn't help, as well as charging us $45 for something we didn't ask for and then finding that it was still leaking anyways. I would have appreciated more if they had told us they were busy this time of year so they won't be accepting cars at the moment to save me the frustration, I would have gladly been okay with that. :( read more

I had an oil change elsewhere and the mechanic told me I had a major leak and needed to change it otherwise my engine could be damaged. I immediately took it to Enrique. Enrique told me it would take a few hours had to leave my car for him to diagnose. I left it for 6 1/2 hours on the lift and there wasn't a leak at all. Enrique even cleaned my engine and double checked it with another mechanic and they could not find a leak. I'm so happy I took it to Enrique for a second opinion. Enrique and his crew are amazing. After spending over $3000 on repairs for my car, to fix rough idling and misfires, everything from a brand new head, to new plugs, wires, coil, battery, as well as an assortment of other things, one trip to Sierra Gear Shop fixed all my problems. I was actually starting to get depressed because I really couldn't afford much more, I was left with one leg to stand on.. I really needed someone to come through for me and fix the problem! One day was all it took.. the problem? A camshaft sensor. My other shop admitted looking at it, but it was Enrique who spent the time to actually check it. The cost? A friend referred me to Enrique and his shop when my work truck breaks started grinding badly. I dropped it off and he called back to say that the breaks were shot and thatI would at least have to replace a front rotor. I also had a bad oil leak from the engine that I asked him to look at along with a leaking rear axle seal. This is a large work truck and the last company that did the brake replacement cost over $1700. Imagine my surprise when he quoted me $600 - $700 for the same job! The oil leak and rear axle seal was another large job that required replacements of several gaskets and a lot of labor. The total was $1400 and he had me up and running the next day. My last mechanic would have been easily over $2500 and would have tied up my truck for at least four days. As this truck is my main service vehicle I would have lost a lot of work. Thank you Enrique and your crew (which I believe are family) for your fast and fair service. I will be using them exclusively for all my auto repairs in the future. read more

Here is a little story of one of my experiences here: I was planning on selling my car, so I scheduled a maintenance appointment with Enrique. The day before taking my car in someone hit my passenger door right at the hinge and I couldn't open the door...sooo bummed :( The next evening I go to pick up my car and the indentation on my car is gone! I was only there for a tune up and oil change and Enrique went ahead and did this great act of kindness at no charge that brought me to tears.
