Very disappointing customer service at Sierra Termite Control, Inc. I called Rosie (answers phones) with questions regarding the termite inspection and was met with a dismissive attitude instead of receiving clear answers. Rosie did not take the time to listen to my concerns, and the conversation felt one-sided. I was placed on hold multiple times, disconnected twice, and my follow-up calls were not answered. As a homeowner, I expected professionalism, courtesy, and clear communication. Instead, I felt my questions were brushed aside rather than addressed. I would encourage the owner of Sierra Termite to be aware of this experience and Rosie's dismissive approach when interacting with customers. A suggestion for improvement would be for Rosie to practice active listening, show patience when speaking with homeowners, and focus on answering questions directly and respectfully. In 1976 we purchased a home in Cypress, Ca and as part of the inspection process it was necessary to perform some termite service. The realtors representing the sellers suggested using Darryl Schultz the owner of Sierra Termite, a relatively new company they had been using that was based in Walnut. They also suggested setting up a contract with this company for annual treatments. Being satisfied with their service, when we purchased a rental property in 1978, we established an annual contract on that property as well. Sierra. And when we moved to Seal Beach, we used Sierra Termite once again. Sierra Termite has been servicing our residential properties for - 44 years. Over the years I have personally recommended this company to many neighbors, friends, and family members. This May 2020, I decided it was time to have some major reconstructive work on our patio or to replace it with a vinyl or an aluminum product. After checking out what was available on the market and the costs, I decided I really preferred the wood and have Sierra Termite, now located in Los Alamitos perform the job. Zack and Jake did an excellent job of replacing about 30 percent of the original structure which included lumber of various sizes, 6" x 8", 6" x 6", 2" x 6", 2" x 4 and 2" x 3". They painted the entire structure and did some stucco finishing on a wall. Zack and Jake worked neatly, did a thorough cleanup at the end of the day, and are conscientious about their work. Reputations are hard-earned and easily lost, so when a company exists for over 40 years in a heavily regulated industry, they must be doing something right. In Feb. 2023, Sierra did a spot treatment of some attic termites and some in an upstairs office, as well as significant repairs and painting to some very high dry-rotted exterior fascia boards and one structural beam holding up an outdoor roof. Their work was superb! Darryl did the inspection and estimating. He was very thorough, explained everything that needed to be done, and the price was quite reasonable for the amount of work. I would like to have given them 5 stars, however the guys doing the inspection forgot to bring boot covers for there wet dirty boots. Putting a ladders on our carpet that was also wet and dirty. The challenge in this type of industry is they forget that this is someone's home. It's a project for them. Get in get it done and move on. Living in an HOA this makes it difficult. Always make sure your ready to keep them accountable when they step on the premises. Its important for all service industries to leave the place better than you found it. I had to wash off my deck because they drilled but left the shaving all over my deck. A wet deck will make this material sticky Anyhow, I'm sure they did the work correctly, but be sure your ready to clean up after them, just my two cents. read more

I was impressed the first time I used this company, but as time went on the level of service was not thorough. Then they terminated my service because I did not call back in time. I had been ill, so it took me a while to call back to schedule a visit. When I did call back they told me that my contract was cancelled but they would consider opening it again. I then got a new call telling me that I would have to pay for an inspection ( that I had paid for already the previous year!). It was not only the cancellation, but the audacity to tell me that their manager " had agreed to take me back but I would have to pay first before the inspection." It made me so mad, I told them not to bother. I subsequently found another company to inspect my house. Beware of poor follow through once Sierra Termite Control has your money. read more

I called Sierra Termite after I saw them doing work on a condo complex near where I work. The guys were all in white uniforms, seemed to be working efficiently, etc. They came to my house & gave me a bid. I thought about it for the day, and called them back to schedule work. The estimator seemed to know what he was talking about and he even pointed out some issues with work I had previously had done, but was poorly done. Anyway, I wanted the facia & some rafters in front of my house replaced for curb appeal. The house is 50 yrs old...prob original wood. Well, I mentioned to the guy who gave me the bid that I just had the drip edge (flashing) replaced a couple of months ago, so I didn't want it damaged. He assured me that if they did, they would replace it. So I approved the estimate. They came at 8am, and called me at work at 12:30pm or so to say they were done and they needed a check. I said I wanted to see the job before I paid. So the next morning I inspected the work. I was NOT happy about what they had done. Although some of the facia was nicely replaced, there was one area where they removed an existing piece and did not replace correctly. It was not square with the other facia. Not to mention they also damaged that piece in the process...and now it had chunks missing from it. Additionally, most of the 50ft of flashing was NOT nailed back down, and nails were sticking up all over the place. And finally, the one thing that completely made me blow my top was the fact that they NAILED 2 nails RIGHT INTO my shingles to hold the flashing in one area of this tricky corner spot above the porch. Oh...and the primer? They ended up slopping it up under the flashing and sticking some of the flashing to the facia. Now...the GOOD part of this whole experience...if I can even call it that...was that I filed a complaint in writing on their website, and they called me immediately after the Christmas holiday to come out and fix things to my satisfaction. And they did do that. They sent 2-3 guys out, and I pointed out everything that was an issue. They replaced the flashing, fixed the damaged piece that was not even installed correctly, and patched the shingles that were nailed to the roof. So in that respect, I gave them 3 stars, instead of 2....because they did come out to take care of it asap. I paid them immediately upon noting the satisfactory repairs. read more

I was not aware Sierra Termite also works with Pest. Last week I heard some noises coming from my attic. I called Sierra Termite the next morning and on that same day Robbie came out to set up traps to catch whatever was in my attic. One day later that noise turned out to be a opossum. After 20 years in my house I noticed a bug problem and suspected a rodent problem. I never hired an exterminator before or had any experience with infestations. I called Sierra because of the Yelp Reviews. Yelp has never done me wrong before. Robbie came out and saw the evidence of the rodents right away and pointed out where they were coming from and getting in. He also knew exactly what type of bug problem I had, German Cockroaches. He trapped, sealed off all entry points inside and out of my house and treated for the Cockroaches. Additionally, just when we thought he had caught all the rodents I suspected I still had a problem so I called and Robbie came back out and we found an additional entry point which he quickly closed off. The pricing was reasonable for all that he did and I received a real education in the process. I sleep much better now. read more

Our property manager company used Sierra Termite on the house we're renting. Normally moving out of the house for three days would be miserable, but it worked out great. We had a vacation out of town but it overlapped with a day Sierra Termite usually doesn't do work. They changed it for us so we left to go to our vacation, and came back to a termite free house! Well what a horrible experience. Today we had a "technician" arrive about 8:40am named Robbie. He started off the visit by yelling from the front gate repeatedly instead of knocking on the door. We heard his yells and opened our front door. I asked him why he didn't knock, he quickly said well you heard me, and i don't know if you have a dog running around. ( no dog running around in the front). His tone from the gate was disrespectful. Absolutely no regard for my neighbors when he yelled instead of knocked. .. But it gets worse, he mumbled something under his breathe as he walked in my house. My 12 yr old was standing by the door watched the whole exchange. Within a minute i asked him to leave. I escorted him off my property. I told him why did he come with such a bad attitude. Then he starts berating me, calling me names. (By the way, its all on my ring camera, cell phone and surveillance cameras!) I told him he was being recorded. He said he didn't care. He spent 5 mins calling me names in front of my daughters as he walked towards his truck. Stood in the middle of the street and still yelled some more. All while my neighbors watched. This company shouldn't hire anyone that treats clients this way. He was absolutely unprofessional from the beginning and continued his poor behavior throughout the visit. DISGUSTING. I left a message for the owner and am still in disbelief. But luckily i have it all on audio recording!!. Im a supporter of small businesses but not when people treat others this way. I was pretty disappointed with this agency. My HOA sent them a request for an inspection and that happened really quickly so I started off really happy. I know the HOA approved the request before the weekend but I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I didn't get a call to schedule the actual service on Friday. But then no call Monday. No call Tuesday. I had to call them on Wednesday. Then I was told "I was on the board for tomorrow at 10am". Excuse me? How am I on your board and no one has called me. They said "oh we were going to call you today". That does not fly. I take the appointment to get it over with and she says the guy, Armando I think, will be there at 10am. So it's it's 10:40 on Thursday and no Armando. I have to call them again! and he's buzzes when I'm on the phone. Unacceptable. He comes in and ASKS ME do I know what is supposed to happen. He says he has to call his boss because he doesn't understand the work order. Well that's just great. Then on the way out he asks for my building's entrance code. I say he can just use the box and I'll buzz him like before. He gets an attitude, makes a face, and tells me word for word "that's not fair". I should not have had to but went on to say it's a security feature and why should you need it if I can buzz you in. His facial expression and tone of voice was ridiculous. To be honest, I had this visualization of punching him in the face. He did the first part (which only lasted about an hour and 15 min) then had to take a lunch break? and pick up the supplies (wood I think) - and that took an hour and 45 minutes. Seriously - he had a work order. How did he not have the correct things he needed for the service. So after not being contacted, their provider arriving 45 minutes late, his having an attitude, and what seemed to be clueless and unprepared worker leaves me thoroughly unhappy with this service provider. *Updated from 2 stars to 3 ... Really appreciated the owner getting back to me with just a regular old honest apology. Sometimes I wonder why others can't just do that. Tried these guys after a friend's recommendation, and have used three times since -- very happy with the service each time, and have no plans to call anyone else in the future. Two visits turned out to be spot treatments for termites, very reasonably priced -- I had been bracing for much more extensive and expensive diagnoses. The third time, I was seeking an estimate for rodent extermination and exclusion; the exclusion turned out to be a bigger job than my budget allowed, so I tackled that myself over time. But the tech noticed we were adding onto the house, and suggested a DIY treatment I could add to the wood framing, to prevent future termite encroachment (helping me, but denying themselves future business?). So, in my view, three times they were not only prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and thorough, but saved me money down the road. Too often on service calls -- no matter what it is -- we might feel unhappy afterward, unsure if we got taken, or if the job was done right, or if another problem comes up we should trust Company X to bring back. Wow! another bad experience with this company. Guy show up and tell my wife " MOVE..GET A AWAY!. Then enters our home and puts his ladder down on my rug without some form of cover. When my wife asked him to go around the back the best answer he could provide was NO!. she was so concerned about his attitude that she called me on the cell, that's when the tech said "Forget it...Im leaving" and walks off the job. I've spent 40 years in the customer service business with some of the largest retailers in the industry. I've trained store associates how to work with the consumer and have helped increase instore sales. This person needs to get proper training. When I arrived home, I went looking for him. When he saw me coming he got testy with me and blamed my wife, REALLY, you blame the customer. He tried to get in my face and then told me if I don't like it to call the company. I really feel for the company that they didn't vet there staff better. This individual has no business interacting with clients. Where to start??? First I think it's really important to think about reviews prior to just writing them so I sat on this one for a couple weeks!!! I know that most people ONLY write reviews when "they" have a bad experience and sometimes that can effect a persons business , so when I got a Yelp account it was to make sure the companies/restaurants and stores who went out of their way to help my family and me get the praise they so deserve. Life is to short to bast in all the negativity.. My experience with Sierra Termite was not only a great one it helped my family and I out tremendously. After recently moving to the Temecula area when I got married and bought a new house. I decided to rent my condo out in Garden Grove. I received a frantic phone call from my tenant that she saw droppings in her window sill that she thought were rodent droppings .... I was a little taken back and decided right away to Google companies that do free inspections, in the surrounding areas. (As I'm a penny pincher) . I called several companies and most charged although they advertised "Free Inspections". Finally I found Sierra Termite and spoke to a very bubbly sweet young lady whom I apologize forgot her name, she scheduled the appt. that worked around my tenants schedule within two days. Once the inspection was done the Inspector who came out Darryl, called me and let us know it wasn't rodent droppings but termites!!!. Boy ol boy we had the house loaded with termites and I didn't know this entire time until they made their "Grand Appearance" ... My tenants didn't take it so well and threatened to move out and wanted to break their lease ....Of course I was very worried .. However to my surprise Darryl / and his office staff spoke to the tenants after coming out and explained the procedure to them very thoroughly and promised as little intrusion as possible... Being the penny pincher I am , I even pressed for a little discount as I was going to have to pay for my tenants hotel stay during the procedure , and once again to my surprise they helped me out . .. They scheduled for the condo to be fumigated over the MLK Holiday saving me the cost of having to reimburse my tenant for time missed at work and had her back in the house on that Tuesday Afternoon after the Holiday . All of this was inspected, scheduled and fumigated in little over a week!! I recently after calling into the office a couple weeks ago to pay my final bill found out this Company was a small family owned business and that's when I decided I had to take the time out of my busy schedule to support this business by giving them the KUDOS they deserve. A few months back I had them spray my grandmothers house for pest control spray to the exterior of her home and not only was the service provided to her very good the quality was great. So when I moved into my townhome the new landlord was telling me that there is a major ant problem so I knew exactly who to call, they came down the first day I moved in and it's been about 8 months and we haven't seen one ant. I not only appreciated the quality but also the service. My grandmother got burned years ago by a contractor so now she's skeptical with every service she goes with and they had patience with her explained to her what they were doing and what she was getting for her money. My neighbor saw the Sierra truck in front of my house at my August 21st annual inspection and shared the positive Yelp reviews. I have been a customer for about 10 years when their office was in Anaheim but didn't know Sierra was on Yelp. Customer service has always been great as I have had a control policy since the initial tenting. The annual inspections occur like clockwork and the spot treatment has kept the termites away. I've had two spot treatments and am diligent about reporting termite droppings. In one instance, I saw some droppings and called Sierra; they came out within a day but the droppings were from silverfish. I always follow up on recommendations such as replacing wood or using rain diverters to prevent wood rot; especially, in light of the expected El Nino event this winter.
