Exterior street view. Entrance on the left just before the green awning

Stopped in for the coffee, stayed for the crab dip! Came in while waiting for the remnants of the Orange County Christmas parade to finish traveling through. Seated right away with pleasant smiling faces. Coffee was brought out right away and hot and the crab dip was amazing. Hot and fresh, the bread is soft with a crunchy crust. If you're in town and you're looking for a nice place to eat this is where you wanna go. Historically if you want to come for a holiday (like Mother's Day) probably would recommend a reservation. High-backed booths for a private feel, table and chairs for bigger parties or disability seating and seating in the back bar area and side banquet rooms. It's been a while since I've been here since I have moved out of town, but I was not disappointed to visit this local favorite today for a snack and a coffee. Others around me ordering dinner had lovely plates and I heard no complaining from the surrounding tables

Absolutely love this place. Gives very local vibes - a classic local restaurant. Servers are great and always remember your face. I had the carrot cake w/ ice cream - cream cheese icing. Yum, yum, yum. You won't be disappointed.

Atmosphere was good, food was good, service was fair. I would definitely return! Prices were reasonable.

Refused service this evening due to having a service dog. The women at the front is wildly misinformed. I took the liberty of contacting the health department. Just as a heads up, i am not required to present you with documentation of my canine. There is no real database which service dogs are listed. If you see documentation, That most likely isn't a real service dog. She requested to be served this evening I would have to put my cardiac alert dog in the car, my life is more important, we politely declined. I have had my service dog for 4 years and have NEVER been treated this way before..... Edit: heard back from the health department, whom are personal friends. Virginia Food Code follows the FDA Food Code & it follows the ADA. See photo attached. It reads as follows: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has guidelines for distinguishing between a pet and a service animal. A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. An animal providing emotional support, well-being, comfort, or companionship is not a service animal. Food establishment staff are only legally allowed to ask two questions to determine if a dog is a service animal: 1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? And 2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person's disability.

    Grand snowy entrance!

Invited here by friends on a snowy Sunday for brunch! First thing I noticed the place was empty so we had no problem finding tables and seats for a group of 10! I am sure the hostess and wait staff was glad to customers. The appetizer, spinach dip was excellent. The ice tea/lemonade mix was absolutely refreshing and delicious! I put in our order of Steak omelet with sourdough toast and potatoes and the food arrived within 10 minutes. We received a generous portion of everything. It was excellent, I thought the omelet was a little runny and perhaps not fully cooked but overall it tasted good. I thought after receiving the food perhaps I should order something else. I did not think what I had ordered was epic. However, the other folks who were with us really enjoyed their food. So it could be an excellent place. Since I have been taken out by someone else to be treated, I did not want to change the order midstream. The wait staff was excellent and very helpful. I would certainly try this place again! Overall I recommend this place! Thank you for the memories!

This place is a gem!! Five stars aren't enough! The food was DELICIOUS!! The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Our server, Priscilla, was on point. She made our experience one to remember and will be going back whenever we're in town. The ambiance was quite cozy.

Located in an old mill building with very high ceilings and a cool vibe. Service was very good, as was the dinner we enjoyed.

We were seated at 7pm and received appetizers at 8:30pm. He had the steak tar tare and I had the mushroom toast. They were both just okay. Bread, amuse bouche, cocktails all took forever. Maybe 30-45 minutes. There was an acknowledgment of the delay of appetizers with no explanation, however. We received entrees close to 9pm. All were lukewarm at best. Evidently the center my friend's filet was still cold (the order was for medium rare). My husband and I had the lamb and the chicken. Both just okay. He also had an old fashioned that was all ice and not really what you'd expect for a restaurant of that quality. We enjoyed our gin cocktails and wine, but skipped dessert altogether. Honestly, I cannot wrap my head around this experience for a ~$500 meal. If you're looking for somewhere special and a fine dining experience, we'd recommend you look elsewhere in central Virginia.

The wines are excellent and there are several tasting options you can choose- I believe there was a red flight, a white flight, and a "signature" option that had both. You also have the option to build your own flight, which I always love. The 2024 rosé is a standout, we picked up several bottles to bring home. We could not believe how good the food was- it was worth a trip in its own right! It's on the pricier side but it is clear why, the plates wouldn't be out of place at a fine dining restaurant. We also had the kindest server, Chelsie, who made our experience so special and memorable! She stopped by to chat several times, gave us great recommendations, and she could not have been nicer to me and my friends. Their breakfast is incredibly generous and made with ingredients that were fresh, clean, and meticulous in detail. The design of their menu is just so promising with unique twists that are not unheard of, but just an elevated touch when it comes to American diner food as a whole. Things like truffle infused hollandaise, fried green tomato BLT, pairing balsamic with goat cheese, a blackened pork, even mushrooms on the breakfast menu all hint that people developing their menu are confident in their skills in offering something more when it comes to breakfast plates and sandwiches. Their homemade aiolis (highly recommend their pesto aioli) and hot sauce tie any dish together-- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Things made to this quality are not to be unremarked. Came in with friends so we can try everything on their menu, and we were pleasantly surprised on all fronts. Presentation, ingredients, preparation all elements that made our meals great and were evident across all dishes ranging from protein to carb. Details like toasted bread with already spread with butter, perfectly poached eggs, and brioche as the bun of choice were things we peeped. We would have left satisfied if these details weren't accounted for, but we were so impressed this became a revisit during our short vacation. Their space is greatly spacious, with an open drinks station so its just not pretentious. There is even a section in the front to pick up goods made by local artisans. The service was excellent throughout the meal. Our server, was absolutely lovely. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She was one of the highlights of the experience. We started with the steak tartare. It was decent, but a little saltier than I would have preferred. My biggest complaint was that the accompanying bread wasn't brushed with butter or olive oil, which made it feel a bit dry and out of place alongside such a rich dish. One thing that was disappointing was the portioning of the shareable sides. The menu describes them as serving 3 to 4 people, but in our experience they were much more realistically sized for about two people. That was frustrating, especially given the overall price point. For our entrees, we ordered the ribeye, bavette, and New York strip. All of the steaks were cooked well, but I found them to be good rather than great, especially considering the price point. They just weren't particularly memorable. The ribeye, in particular, leaned a bit too far toward fatty rather than beautifully marbled, so there was more unrendered fat than I would have liked. The steak sauces were enjoyable, but they also didn't stand out in any significant way. They were well made, but nothing especially unique or memorable. Overall, I enjoyed the evening, the atmosphere, and the exceptional service. However, for a steakhouse at this price point, I expected to be more impressed by the food. Everything was solid, but nothing really wowed me or left me thinking, "I can't wait to come back." It is disappointing to have buyers remorse from such a nice restaurant.
