It was not good unfortunately, it was a nice place and food was okay but there were many issues. We got there 2 hours after it opened and some how they were already out of the side of the day. To add to the list they were out of asparagus, and ice cream. There was 6 of us which brings me to the biggest issue... It took about 45 minutes and 2 of us got our food then about 10 minutes later 2 more of us got there food then about 15 more minutes after that the last 2 of us got our food but everybody else was already done eating. The restaurant is set at a bucolic young orchard and is inside a barn-like building. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with compelling artwork. The servers were pleasant and responsive, albeit untrained on the menu or the happy hour specials. Two of them were quick to point out it was their first day and didn't know anything. Our server was clearly experienced but also on her first day, so she was unfamiliar with the menu. She was not aware that a menu item was unavailable, finding out only after she submitted our order to the kitchen, prompting my partner to quickly choose an alternate entree. Clearly the staff has not been properly trained by the management, or even given tastes of the entrees. If a restaurant is going to charge upwards of $35 for an entree, at least teach the staff what the items are and how they might taste. The food itself was average. My partner's alternate choice of fish and chips had a small fish portion encased in a massive fried shell of batter. It looked ridiculous. My sirloin steak au poivre was pretty tasty though. I would've enjoyed a bit more sauce and seasoning on the steak. but I enjoyed it nonetheless. However, I was very disappointed in the experience overall. read more

I don't know how this restaurant doesn't have more stars. I ordered the Marry Me Chicken Pasta and the Almond Peach Crisp and I can say that I had one of the best chicken pasta dishes of my life last night. It was so flavorful and had a surprising little kick in it. The sauce wasn't runny at all, and perfectly coated the pasta. The chicken was the real winner since it was so tender and I often find that in chicken pasta dishes the chicken is usually dry. The almond peach crisp was served warm with ice cream and was very warm and comforting. Quite tasty but I would have rather had the cheesecake of the day, which they were sold out of. I also had some of the bang bang shrimp and the sauce that it came with tasted like chick fil a sauce. The soup of the day was a BLT soup, which did not sound right so I didn't order it. Who puts lettuce in soup? Our waitress seemed genuinely kind and thoughtful, and was helpful with allergy questions. The interior has a supper club barn wedding aesthetic, which was cute and cozy. We went for brunch and the portions were huge. You can definitely share. The omelette was filled with a lot of fixings and very tasty.

We have eaten here many times since moving to the lake full time in 2021. Mike and Roxanne have put together a beautiful venue with a diverse number of options; a romantic dinner, scrumptious brunch or fresh pizza out at the fire pit. Menu is limited but seasonal options make it always new and fresh. Entertainment rotates weekly with of a host of local talents. There aren't too many options out on the lake, but I was excited to try Callie Opie's with my family. We visited on a Sunday at about 2pm, just before brunch was over. The brunch menu was not very extensive--a couple of appetizers, a salad, a couple of omelettes, a burger, etc. Callie Opie's also had a couple of "specials of the day" dishes. On the day we visited they had mozzarella sticks and a "pulled pork sandwich" as their daily specials. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good, and I was looking forward to my pulled pork sandwich... until it came out. It did not look like pulled pork at all. That's because it wasn't. It turns out the special of the day was a pork banh mi sandwich. Totally different cuisine. Our waitress realized she messed up and apologized, so I ended up getting a burger instead. Everyone at my table had their entree, so I basically watched everyone eat while I waited for my burger. The burger tasted good but was little on the greasy side. This is by far the best restaurant in the Lake Anna area. They are constantly changing their menu every season and introduce new and unique appetizers and entrées, such as the duck bacon wonton stuffed with cream cheese, corn and served with the best buffalo sauce I have ever had in my life, to their beef tequila pasta in which the tequila sauce on that is so flavorful. Their signatures that are always on the menu that I really enjoy are their house salad that is topped with Gouda cheese, candied, walnuts, cranberries, and a creamy flavorful cranberry vinaigrette, and their cherry bourbon bbq ribs with fresh hand cut fries. and make sure you save room for dessert because they're fresh apple brown Betty and Bamba gelato are to die for. The Bamba gelato is a giant scoop of vanilla and chocolate flavored gelato that is stuffed with a giant cherry and almonds and the center of that scoop, and then that scoop is dipped into melted chocolate, and then sits in the freezer so the chocolate could get hard like a chocolate covered strawberry. You can never go wrong with any of them in your items at Callie Opie's Orchard. This place was great! four paws for being dog friendly on their patio. We went for brunch and I'm glad we did! The food was excellent. My husband commented at least three times about how good ... simple... good everything was. And how his fried egg was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portions were generous and they treated my kids so kindly (2&4 legged). The biscuits and gravy were yummy and the square biscuits were so filling! Sunday brunch , the food was terrible. Coffee served at a little over ambient temperature. Scrabbled eggs were dry and crusty. The custard French toast was over cooked, but the bacon was good. My partner ordered the breakfast bowl but was served the breakfast platter. Her sausage was hard and overcooked. Amazing food and the cozy feeling makes it seem as if you're dining at a friend's house instead of at a restaurant. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I wish I could say I like this restaurant. I've been coming here for several years, since it's one of few in the area. You will almost be guaranteed that the order comes out wrong, overcooked or tasteless. The service is subpar; they don't check on you at the right time and generally forget an item like an extra napkin or condiment. Very disappointed in Sunday Brunch. Ordered the Sunrise Burger medium rare - the burger was grey (very well done), there was no bacon or fried egg. They put scrambled eggs on the burger! When asked about the bacon, they returned with a plate of bacon, asked why scrambled eggs and they returned with a fried egg. Clearly the cook didn't know what the Sunrise burger was - no offer to take the burger back and correct it - just kept bringing out the different items. The Benedict of the week was equally as bad - specifically asked to have a hard yolk - waitress said no problem. It was completely runny with no offer to correct it. The scrambled eggs in the Breakfast tacos were horrible - dry and clumpy. All three of our meals had the breakfast potatoes which were cold and hard. We will not return. read more

Great spot for brunch, lunch or dinner. The food is really good and on some days they have specials. On the weekends they often have live music. The grounds are also really nice and they have corn hole and a few fire pits. I'd recommend making reservations as some days they cannot accommodate walk ins. We had a wonderful experience at Callie Opie's last night. Great wine list, delicious appetizers--my family of four shared the deviled eggs with pickled jalapeños and bacon and super crunchy spring rolls--and everyone enjoyed their entree. The scallops were particularly good and the mahi-mahi tacos had a good portion of fish. Also, my dad said it was one of the "best cooked steaks he's had in months" and had a great flavor. The burger was tasty, but if you like your meat medium, order medium to medium-rare. Fries were also a highlight. We were all blown away with the dessert. The oreo churros are not to be missed, and they are even better with vanilla ice cream or gelato! They were highly addictive, tasted like fried oreos and paired with the ice cream...perfection. After dinner, we stepped outside to listen to a live Rolling Stone cover band. Such a great atmosphere and glad to have this amazing spot at Lake Anna. read more

And they make all there salad dressing in house so try the ranch because it is pretty close to heavenly! I really wanted to love this place because their concept is something this area needs but the last three times we have had dinner left me with the feeling of no appetite and last night was the final straw. The Manager delivered our meals and served my plate first, as he places it in front of me he bumps my left shoulder with another plate. He then serves my friend to my right and so forth, it wasn't till I stood up to go find our waitress because my order was incorrect, that my friends noticed something has been dripped down the left side from my shoulder to the bottom of my sleeveless sweater. As I begin to feel the substance, I noticed it is was in my hair too. At first we thought something was dripping from the ceiling but it was sticky and gooey. It was the sauce from my friends plate that the Manager bumped me with! I stood up to find the Manager and explain to him what happened and he said I'll do something about it, no,apology at that time, no shock on his face, no reaction whatsoever. I went to the ladies room to clean up and he sent 2 waitresses with club soda to help me clean the food substance out of my hair and sweater, that did not work and only aggravated me more. I went back to the table and the Manager came to me on his knees, apologized and asked if he could buy me a bottle of wine. BUY ME A BOTTLE OF WINE FOR THE HUMILIATION AND EMBARRASSMENT, RUINING OF MY CLOTHES, FOOD IN MY HAIR AND NOW LOSS OF APPETITE? That's the best he could come up with? I replied and requested he comp my meal that I was now had no appetite of eating. He could have and should have done better with his apology and offering a more comparable resolution than a bottle of wine. So when you read this review know isn't just about last night, but the last 3 times we have had dinner. The service is very slow, food orders never arrive correct, wait staff is not properly educated on restaurant protocols and the manager is weak minded. He has no idea how to properly manage this restaurant. Stand up, be a man and take control of the restaurant, that's your job! It's his job to make sure his customers are fully satisfied. read more

This was a cute and interesting place to eat. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating for our large group. The food was mostly good, but a few items were reported to be excellent by our group. My table mates reported the chicken to be dry, as was the tuna. The mashed potatoes were interesting and good, but the menu said my tuna came with wild rice. The kitchen staff must have been overwhelmed, because at one point we could smell burnt food. Just a review from our dining experience at Callie Opie Orchard tonight. I called around 4:35 today to see if we could get a reservation at 5 pm. ( we originally wanted to go to Tim's but they were closed due to a staff meeting)- The woman that answered the call seemed kind of confused but none the less said that they had a table available for two people at 5. When we arrived we walked through the door and were greeted by the same woman whom had a bowl of chili in her hand and promptly set the bowl down to address our entrance only to lick her fingers & grab 2 paper menus to hand to us and appoint us to our table. ( yuk , right?) - it gets better....the place was empty by the way. Our waiter approaches us to set in on the "new" fall menu & explains its confusing and he doesn't really get it either. But please let him know if we have questions. ( which we did but he didn't know) It was a paper printed menu that was stapled together. My husband ordered the burger and fries and I ordered the Norwegian salmon and extra roasted veggies to omit the mashed potatoes and add extra veggies. His burger was okay but fries where soggy and cold. My salmon looked very pale & plastic with no flavor and I had mostly cauliflower and a few beans added to my vegetable roast as the menu suggested. It was very bland and unappetizing. Not to mention when we checked in at 5 pm we were the only people there. We waited almost 25-30 minutes for our entrees to arrive. Also, as during our dining experience there we had an annoying fly continue to fly around our table. The hostess handed me a fly swatter so I could smack out the culprit myself. ( which I ultimately did because I was tired of being buzzed and realized I was the only one to end my buzz byes ) - Notes: For the prices you pay here for food and drink are ridiculous compared to the actual product you receive. I inquired about a Rosé wine in which I was advised that Rosé is hard to get around here. ( I get a case of Rosé orders to my lake house every other week from wines.com) After receiving our meal the "hostess " hovered over us & engaged in her personal small talk about her health care and the system etc. while we tried to eat. We tried to be considerate and empathic but when we got our $ 100 plus bill we were livid. Note ; we did have drinks to be fare with the price of the bill~ 3 beers and 1 glass of wine. The happy hour price of one dollar off of beer and wine was not acknowledged on our bill. Also, the waiter noticed I had barely touched my salmon and said he would do a price adjustment. Which was not done. We have given this establishment FIVE tries and are DONE. We are full time Lakers as of this summer and enjoy good food and wine and don't mind paying for it but this is not going to be a go to place for us or visitors anymore.
