We were finally at the end of the road for our road trip. The best thing about vacations is when they come to an end you are so ready to go home. We were starving when we arrived at this airport since I didn't even know it existed before this trip. I was really small and easy to return our rental and get to,our gate. I think there was only 20,gates in total. This was the only choice for eateries in the airport so it was very busy. The 2 gals were working their tails off but we received excellent service anyway. I got my usual club sandwich with fries and Joe got some kind of wrap. We ate them up quickly since our flight was coming in hot. This reminded me of my teenage years waitressing at Howard Johnson's restaurant back in the 70's. I don't think this chain even exists anymore:) I so admire those gals and their hustle. read more

Have enjoyed many a preflight meal at Silks over the years and have seen steady positive service and a bit of improvement to food quality and menu options. The lunches I've sampled have been good enough for airport food, but the breakfast orders have been A level in the past year of travel. The beer and wine lists include a decent list of variety, and cocktail menu is impressively giving me star-eye-emoji vibes, very Heather coded options. I like the open seating and when not sitting at the bar, prefer counter seating facing the airport hallway and large windows for viewing B5, B7, and A6 plane arrivals and departures. read more

I was passing by on the way to my gate, and I stopped to look at the menu. Poutine??? *YES, PLEASE!!!* The place was bright and clean, and I was seated right away.. My server, Kate, was friendly and helpful. I put my order in, and my food came right away. It was a very decent sized portion. Overall, the poutine was very good. I liked the texture of the fries, and they even had a light sprinkling of Parmesan on them. The gravy was very good, not too much, and not too little. The scallions on top provided a nice pop of freshness to go with such a heavy meal. The only reason I'm taking away a star is while Most of the cheese curds were very good, a few of the larger ones were cold in the middle. It took away from it just a little bit. But overall, a very successful meal. For food, soda, tax and tip, the price was extremely reasonable. Even more so, considering this is an airport restaurant. Since you're captive, I guess you have to accept this as an option. The alternatives are Uncommon Grounds /bagel place, Chick Fil-A, or other gross fast food. There is a small tap room in B-wing offering salads, sandwiches and quesadillas - but nothing substantial. The staff here just DO NOT CARE if you like it or not. Which makes sense, because you probably won't like it. They've kinda given up. They won't dare to ask what you think.....they already know. The bartender is happy to chat up solo guys.... repeatedly mentioning she's a newly single mom. That's one tactic to try to get tips, I guess. She puts her phone down in front of the register to make it look like she's doing work while she's clearly just texting and watching videos. Providing just the bare minimum level of customer attention so they can't escape. Who can blame her though, really? The salmon in the salmon bowl is so overcooked and salty it's like salmon jerky. I left the entire piece (minus one bite) in the unfinished bowl on the top of the rice. She looked right at it.... "Ready for the check sir?" That was her only question and our only dialog after taking my order and warning me "The dressing you asked to not get is the best part". She was probably right. The guacamole and raw veggies were fine. The rice was acceptable. Their business model simply depends on being the only restaurant here that isn't a chain/fast food. Well... that and them gambling that you've forgotten how bad Silks was last time you were stuck in the Albany Airport. I guess... since this is the only real option that isn't fast food... you could go here. They make a wide variety of drinks and you can sit in comfy bar stools. That part is ok. Just be prepared to be disappointed, treated like you don't matter, and served food no one cares about. One good thing about Silks being in an airport.... This isn't a five-star review as if this is five star cuisine, but it is a five-star review based upon Silks offering exactly what Albany airport needs - a decent sit down restaurant with amazing service from Samuel, and overall good food. It even seemed to have some of the better air conditioning flow, since they clearly have an air conditioning problem in the B-gate area. Our flight was delayed on a Monday night, and the best place to sit down and grab a bite was Silks. Samuel approached our table quickly, and offered drinks... I was actually a bit freaked out because he's apparently and identical twin brother to the bartender, and I wasn't sure who I was talking to for a second. Once I got over the initial confusion, we ordered some basic bar type food and a couple of iced teas. The food itself is probably a four-star, I had the grilled chicken tacos which were just okay. The reason I enjoyed the experience so much is that Samuel continued to check in on us, refill drinks frequently, and maintain an overall energetic positive demeanor. Pricing overall was about $30 per person, obviously beer or cocktails will push up that total quickly. I hope you never stuck in Albany airport as we were, but if you are you should certainly consider visiting Silks. Another bonus is that if you sit at the bar, they have outlets at knee-level, so you can recharge your devices while you enjoy your meal. read more

Decided to stop in while I waited for a flight out of Albany airport (note this is after security, so not accessible to the general public) - I sat at the bar, where a perfectly cheery bartender promptly asked me what I wanted. I ordered a Sam Adams and the steak tacos. The beer was promptly delivered and about 1/3 through my beverage, the tacos arrived. Three small tacos, with a delicious Chimichurri sauce on the side. I wasn't sure the tacos would suffice (they seemed small) but when combined with the beer, I felt satisfied. They were tasty (thanks to the aforementioned sauce) - but were warm, not hot. I'd consider this a "serviceable" place. Not great, not bad, but acceptably adequate. If you're traveling and would like a bite to eat that isn't fast food, this seems like it'd be okay to fill that need. read more

This is the best spot at the Albany in Airport to grab a bite before a flight. I need a glass of wine before I get on a plane and they have a nice heavy pour and a great Cabernet Sauvignon. He was telling another couple that came after me sitting next to me he'd check on their food and never said anything to me which made me question my food. I knew to expect a long wait because of the previous visit. So I was prepared. He asked if I wanted my check when I pulled my card out and I'm like did you put the tots in? I don't think he did caz he's like oh let me check on them and went to the computer and back and said he just dropped them. He's like do u still want them or I need to tell him to cancel now. I had an emergency landing in Albany. Yup, my plane was headed from NYC to Montreal and had to land in Albany, forcing all 38 of us to hang out in the airport for a few hours while waiting for another airplane to be sent to pick us up. While the airline got us pizza and water, I longed for a beer to calm my nerves. The first bar I found had a shitty selection, so the bartender told me about Silks having more options. I was happy to find some decent beer choices, and settled on a craft beer. A nice chat with the bartender turned into a free second beer as he was just going to pour it out. Also, they had power outlets at the bar for you to charge your phone or laptop. All airport bars should have this!!! Came back again last night. Sat at the bar and had great service from the bartender. Decided to eat a fairly decent sized meal since my flight would be arriving late. Started off with a Saratoga Oatmeal Stout (which is a liquid meal in itself...perfect on an empty stomach if you're not driving!). For dinner, I had the "seafood duo' - salmon and grilled shrimp served with 2 sides (I chose the mixed vegetables and sweet potato fries). I was a little concerned about seafood but it was the highest protein non-meat selection that I could find (that wasn't fried). The salmon was surprisingly good and the shrimp was grilled just right. No fancy seasonings...served simply... and it wasn't drowning in butter or oil. The veggies were just veggies...again...not drowning in greasy crap. The sweet potato fries were really good...and it was a very generous portion. The people that work here are consistently friendly and do a great job. Whenever I fly home from Albany NY to Indy, I try to stop here for breakfast or lunch depending on the time of my flight. This morning, I had the western omelette with tater tots and toast, and it was wonderful. The waitress was as pleasant as she could be and put a smile on my face. I've always enjoyed the service at the bistro as well as the food. The Cobb salad is very fresh and the cinnamon French toast is excellent. The prices are to be expected for a bistro like this, so you can look to spend $20 for breakfast and possibly $30 for lunch depending on what you order. This is a great place to unwind and relax while waiting for your flight depending on how much time you have to spare. Besides having great food, they also have a full bar, so you can get a beer or cocktail before your flight. I highly recommend this bistro at the Albany NY airport if u want to have a sit down meal and relax. read more

We had time before our morning flight so our family are breakfast here. The restaurant serves all three meals so there were just a few breakfast items to choose from. I guess the lunch items were available because 12 year old actually ordered a Salmon Caesar Salad. The Salmon was fresh, well seasoned, and prepared perfectly. The dressing was good too. After a three-legged flight filled with problems and frustration, I landed in Albany, NY after 6:15 PM. I was hungry, tired, and had ahead of me a long wait for pick-up. Any place that offered food at the airport was shut down and dark, except Silks Saratoga restaurant. The security gate was half-open and I asked the bartender if they were still serving food. The bartender, Kristen, cheerfully said "Sure, come on in!" After ordering, she brought me a delicious Rueben sandwich and a much-needed cold beer. Kristen served me with pleasant courtesy while I consumed my first real meal of the day. It could not have been a better experience. I felt like dinner at home. Silks Saratoga of Albany (especially Kristen) get 5 Stars from me for service, flexibility, and hospitality.
