20 of us had an outstanding meal last night. Everyone raves about each entree. The steaks have an amazing flavor unlike any others in town. But...the service was the most memorable part of the night. I can't Heep enough praise on our server. She and the GM were fantastic. I will say (and so will a lot of other people) that the bartenders upstairs on the rooftop need a SERIOUS attitude adjustment. They have a delusional grasp of who the customer is and who the server is. But once again I'm sure I'm not the first to make that comment. Went here for our anniversary as we're trying to eat at as many of San Antonio's historic restaurants since moving here last year. Silo had some great reviews so we figured we'd give them a shot. Restaurant was clean, decor was warm and pleasant. Had a drink at the small bar outside as we got there a bit earlier than our reservation. Drinks were great and the team there was personable and on point. Once inside, our waiter was there and overall amazing all evening. It wasn't just him but the other waiters and managers were there if we needed anything. It was impressive how attentive they were without being overbearing; great balance. Food wise, we started with the chicken fried oysters, which were insanely good and melt in your mouth. I had the 'surf-n-turf' special (10oz filet and lobster tail), along with the brussel sprouts. Wife had the rack of lamb along with the mushrooms and a compliment of two scallops. We have a running competition of who has the best meal and there were no losers though the lamb was a 99 while my combo was a 98.. everything was incredibly delicious, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. We had a little situation at the end of the meal but Wes, the manager quickly took care of it and all was good. Ended the evening on the rooftop bar (highly recommended) for a drink. This was my first time eating at Silo at the downtown location. About a month ago, my husband and I decided to try it out. All I can say is wow!!! What a pleasant surprise this was!! Connected to the hotel I was staying at (The Fairmount). I went in 15 min before close as was the only one there but they assured me it was no problem. My waitress was amazing and attentive and had great suggestions off the wine and food menu. The fresh white cheddar bread and butter to start was great. I got the beet salad without the beets (I know lol) but it was DELICIOUS! They homemake their dressings and the pistachio crusted goat cheese and salad were perfect. I procrastinated making dinner reservations during the Christmas holiday week in downtown San Antonio, and Silo was one of the few places that could get us in before 8 PM. Subtle is the word that comes to mind when reminiscing about this restaurant. No loud music, service that was attentive but not overbearing. An understated dining room, that felt comfortable and special. I honestly felt that this was exactly how I would design a restaurant if given the power. Our first impression, my husband and I were so impressed with the tray of sliced fruit and vegetables that were offered to compliment our water. Lovely to have even more choices. Following the advice of Yelpers, we started with the chicken fried oysters and a jumbo lump crabcake. Sublime. The plating was lovely as well. We each ordered steaks, me a filet, him a ribeye. Perfection. I ordered Brussels sprouts and a side of the sea scallops as well, which were buttery and delicious. I'd love to remember the wine I ordered, it was a wonderful red recommended by our server. The selection was impressive. I should have stopped after the entree, but dessert was chocolate mousse with cocoa pearls and sea salt caramel. Sign me up! The customer service here in unmatched, the servers, managers, hosts are all amazing! They are on top of everything little detail you can imagine. The ribeye is velvety tenderness, just perfect. Truffle Mac n cheese is great. The crab and cheese fondue with the toasted bread is fire. The cocktails are really good and they have a huge wine list and full bar that makes anything for you. What can I say about this place that hasn't been said before? It's gorgeous inside, the service is excellent. I had the Tristan Island Lobster that was accompanied with a crab risotto & broccoli and my companion had the Veal Chop. We got the Truffle Mac N Cheese as a shared side. Everything was absolutely fantastic, deliciously indulgent and we completely finished everything on the table. There was also a gentlemen at the piano playing and singing which was great for the ambiance and our date night. My only gripe is they either don't pay much attention to reservation notes or don't care because it was our anniversary and every upscale restaurant we've gone to and made reservations with in the past years has recognized this and done some kind of dessert, sometimes with the pretty chocolate "happy anniversary" written out That is a factor I consider when picking anniversary/birthday restaurants so that was a personal disappointment, for food it's top notch. read more

A rare five star rating. I had heard about the Italian restaurant next-door which is owned by the same people but opted in for silo prime. Place is gorgeous to look at I loved everything about the Decour including the leather studded seats and the eclectic lighting. Service was attentive and excellent. We started with the bread basket that was perfection. It tasted like corn the bread and a brown Ryebread both exceptionally crispy on the outside I am fluffy and soft on the inside with real butter. The wedge and Caesar salad with anchovies were next and expertly done. Main courses were a fillet that was dry aged cooked to perfection and salmon that was also perfectly prepared and paired with a lump crab side. Also of interest they come around with a fruit plate to flavor your water which is something I've never seen before. This place is inside the Fairmont Hotel which is also the largest structure ever to be moved on wheels in San Antonio and is in the Guinness book of world record's for the largest structure ever moved on wheels. My wife and I have eaten at all the other Silo locations multiple times, a trip to Silo Prime was overdue. Started with a bottle of Cab from Emblem and was surely a great choice. It paired well with our Oysters Rockefeller and our aged tomahawk ribeye that we shared. We also shared a side of pan seared brussel sprouts and grilled fingering potatoes. The food was AMAZING and prepared perfectly. The service is excellent, our server David was very informative and always appeared at the right time without disrupting our dinner! There is such a thing as over servicing a table when you're trying to enjoy date night, this wasn't the case at all. It was 3/4 empty, which should have been a sign. Extremely high priced (which I expected), small portions (which I did not expect), and only decent food. I had the pork shank & tried really hard to like it, but it was only so-so. My wife had salmon, which she liked but didn't wax ecstatic.
