This small chain in general has done a complete 180 since I came to DC in 2021. Yeah it's a bit pricier now but the move to local suppliers, some organic options, and a solid variety of just about anything you want (without 20 pages of menus) has been a big hit. The Alexandria location is very well run, with a super friendly and chill crew, from all over. A "great American diner" story, if that makes sense. Never a bad dish or time there. read more

Great place for food. We have been here a couple of times for late night dinner. The food has been very delicious. I always start with a milkshake. Quantity of the milkshake is good for two people. If you're in the mood to share your shake then I highly recommend it. I have had their Hawaiian burger and steak (both very good). Burger was so juicy and it was done to my liking which is medium rare. Love the crispy onions on my steak. Service can be wonky. Both the times, our service wasn't great. This is not a diner. This is an upscale restaurant with some diner food options but also some fun, upscale menu options. The service is good but I have to say, a little excessive. As this is a chain restaurant we kinda expected that type of food - you know, burgers, fish & chips, Alfredo, fried everything- we were pleasantly surprised to see a nice list of chef specialties, some basics & more choices but not so many you decided to stick with the same ol' thing you always order. Next time I might be a bit more adventurous and see if I can tack down what's special. For a Friday late night the service was pretty good, friendly. I'd prefer if they had later hours like some of their other locations but this may not be the right neighborhood for overnight chow seekers. read more

We were on our way to a commencement when we came across Silver Diner. I mentioned that I hadn't been to one in years so we decided to stop here on our way back home. The parking is free in the garage of Harry Teeter. They offered indoor and outdoor dining. We decided to dine outdoors. We ordered an appetizer to share. I purchased the Catfish Fingers. It came with a honeymustard sauce and a remoulaude sauce. I truly enjoyed the cucumber lemonade. Found it to be tasty and quite refreshing. The beyond burger was just ok. I probably wouldn't purchase it again. Personally I think impossible burgers taste better. I really enjoyed the veggies that I chose as my side dish instead of fries. The roasted combination of brussel sprouts, beets and carrots were actually good. We all enjoyed our food. Our server forgot a few things but she took care of it after we requested it. I thought the menu was a little on the higher side considering this was a diner but they do try to gear towards a healthier menu so it's all good. I ordered the Avocado Toast with eggs over hard. The eggs were delicious! The avocado toast was more like guacamole toast. Don't get me wrong, I love guacamole but not for breakfast. The onions were overwhelming and the overall flavor underwhelming. My mimosa was standard, nothing to write home about. The host who seated us was great. Our server was average - we had to flag him down multiple times for things like forgotten items and the check. While my friend's French Toast was sensational, they forgot the fruit topping. Their coffee and water also came out but I waited on a glass of water longer than I waited on a mimosa. I enjoyed the overall atmosphere, reminding me of a forgotten time. My Family and I stopped at Silver Diner after dropping My Husband off at the airport for a bite to eat. Our Waitress Tiffany was great! She made sure she came and checked on us and she was overall a wonderful hostess to us and we appreciate that. Our food was good but not hot as it should have been. We all ordered pancakes and it was 5 of us. I think they must've waited until all of our parties food was done before they brought the food out. That was a disappointment to us. Silver Diner cafe offers brunch items at a decent price in Northern VA. Offering an extensive menu from traditional breakfast, burgers, and seafood items. This location has a very nice patio that sits plenty. I loved the inside of the establishment. Set-up like a 50s diner. They also offer bar services and have great mimosas. I took my mom here on mother's day and they had specials for the occasion. I got the seafood eggs Benedict. Which featured crab cakes with hollandaise sauce. Then key lime pie for desert. I had nothing short of an extremely interesting experience at the silver diner. I went for breakfast in the morning around 8 AM. I don't eat any dairy so I was thrilled to see that they had several vegan options on their menu. One of those options included an oat milk pancake with coconut whipped cream. When they brought out my meal, the waitress said to me that there wasn't any of the coconut whipped cream so she had brought me out regular whipped cream instead. She asked me "is this OK?" To which I responded that I was unable to eat it because of an intolerance. When she found that out she immediately removed the whipped cream and brought me out fruit to make up for it. In addition to that the manager literally sprinted to the grocery store next-door and bought dairy free whipped cream. When he brought it over to my table he was out of breath but it was so incredibly generous of him to have done that. Just ate lunch at this King St location and much to my chagrin the meal was lackluster. I ordered the "New" Vegan Beyond Meat Smash Burger that was suppose to come with Vegan slaw {it didn't!}. Earlier I noticed there weren't that many patrons dining at this location so I figured we'd get our lunch pretty quickly {we didn't!}. The waitresses first trip to the kitchen, the waitress told me the kitchen was preparing the vegan slaw. The second trip to the kitchen the waitress found out that there was no more vegan slaw. So, I asked for regular Cole slaw and there was none of THAT either. My thoughts are that the kitchen manager should've informed the wait staff that those items were out so they could inform the customer. I certainly would've made a better choice.. Something about Sunday brunch in NoVa, the waits are outrageous if you don't have a reservation! Somehow, we lucked out here with no wait for a party of four around 11 on Sunday. This spot wasn't our first choice but we know them as we have one close to us in MD and no wait time so.... This is a newer (6 months?) location and much bigger than the last one we visited. A good size bar area and outside seating looks good when the weather warms up. They are located in the West Alex development with a Harris Teeter next door. Our entrees were: Bbq Tacomelette (new dish with tortillas folded in) Classic Eggs Benedict, Lumberjack Breakfast (come hungry!), Shrimp & Grits (more saucy than usual and tasty). All of our choices were very good. Service was friendly and attentive and they definitely were busy with a loud atmosphere by the time we left around 1. A bit pricey. Who knew one recently opened up right down the street from us!! We see it as a score! As soon as we got there we were greeted! Their outside patio area was inviting and relaxing, although we settled to sit inside. Inside the restaurant was themed like the others (60s diner feel). It was cool and fun! Our server checked on us immediately. Asked if we had been there before. We told him we've been to the other locations in the area, but that this was our first time here. I never in my life imagined liking a Silver Diner. My past visits at other locations was not impressive at all. I finally gave in at the suggestion of my kid and went to this location. This location has given me a whole other perspective. The ambiance is very family friendly and a affordable social date/get together good vibes. The menu was nice and has many options including a farm fresh section. The variety is what got me most. The drink menu had me speechless! Casamigos, Hennessy mixed drinks-- say what! The passion fruit Mimosa was so good. The parking is super easy.. go to the same garage as Harris Teeter and take the elevator up, you literally get off the elevator and walk to the left and there is SD. Delivery review I have been wanting to try Silver Diner. Despite this not being the only location, I still hadn't visited one. I was specifically craving a Turkey Reuben, and after a few menus, I decided to try this one. It arrived on time, expertly packaged, and still hot. I loved the coleslaw on the side and the side of roasted root vegetables was plentiful and well flavored. The Turkey Reuben was very well prepared and definitely satisfied the craving I was having. Two dreadful breakfasts. I stopped with my daughter this Sunday morning to grab breakfast. I ordered a Western Omelet. She ordered their Apple Pie French Toast. The omelet was paper thin and bone dry. The accompanying toast was barely warm. Her French Toast consisted of two thick slices of bread with some toppings poured on top. I tried it, and it was gross. A supervisor happened by and asked if everything was OK. When I mentioned this wasn't their finest hour, to his credit, he sounded like he was willing to provide us with some form of accommodation. I declined his offer and still felt it necessary to warn other prospective diners about this place. Up till now, Silver Diner has reliably provided at least above-average food. Maybe this is the exception. However, many of the recent reviews seem to indicate that things may not be going well for this location. (Mental Note: Check recent Yelp reviews before going to any restaurant, even one you thought was reliable. Things can change.) read more

I LOVE Silver Diner. I'm super stoked for this relatively new location so close to my home, which means we can place a breakfast order for delivery and it usually gets delivered in about 20 minutes! There isn't a single dish at Silver Diner that I did not enjoy. My usual go-to is the bison huevos rancheros, which is a scrumptious and wholesome dish with chorizo, bison, eggs, and a medley of veggies with goat cheese and guac. I love love the crispy tortillas that come with this dish. Today for New Years, I got the pickle brined fried chicken and waffles. Boy, was it a soulful dish to ring in the new year! The fried chicken was super tender and moist with enough crisp on it (it's probably crispier at the restaurant, but you adjust your expectations when things are delivered!). The waffles were embedded with pecans and golden brown. The dish came with sausage gravy that was so delicious that I poured the whole thing over the fried chicken. Last but not least, I loved the two syrups that accompanied this dish. One was a spicy cherry pepper honey one with great heat and the other was a classic syrup. I'm looking forward to when COVID blows over so I can dine here in person because Silver Diner in Clarendon had such great vibes that I want to check this place out, too. But for now, I'll treat myself to breakfast delivery here! read more

This was my second time visiting Silver Diner, but first time at this location. My first visit was to the Clarendon location, and everything about it was bad. Food and service. So, I had low expectations for this visit, but I was pleasantly surprised! The diner itself had a nice decor and the outside patio seating was also nice! Convenient and free parking in the garage nearby. The food was good, better than I had expected! My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian burger and loved it, my shrimp scampi just needed a little salt (which I added) but it was very good! Our server Rachael was wonderful and took great care of us.
