I have a real problem with Silver Diner: they have too many awesome looking vegan options and I had a hard time deciding. Major FOMO in only being able to eat one meal at a time. They have been revamping their menu with 'flexitarian' choices (vegan and vegetarian dishes that are clearly labeled on the menu) and I was surprised with more choices than before. In the past at a different location I had had the avocado toast (I needed to maintain my status as a Millennial) and was looking forward to having it again but was thrown off with many options and breakfast/brunch served all day. I had the vegan eggs Benedict and it was-- profanity ahead-- ducking amazing. Halfway through I felt sated and so happy with life but THERE WAS A WHOLE OTHER HALF LEFT. Real joy. Best vegan Benedict I've had, and it's what I order at every vegan brunch place. (Btw, theirs is like an eggs Benedict + eggs Florentine. I'm not complaining.) Next time I'll have the vegan Banh Mi, or the vegan 'mac' and 'cheese' w 'meat'balls, or the lentil entree, or any other of like a dozen super good looking things. Listen, their radio ads really worked on me, they brought me in for the first time by advertising their new plant based options. And some people argue that it's best to support mainstream eateries who make an effort to provide vegan options. I can see the sense in that. Service was completely spacey but I didn't even care. My mother and I went to Silver Diner for the first time today and we looked forward to a good meal. No problems with being seated and with our server. Food is another story. We both ordered the meatloaf and unfortunately found it terribly bland and underseasoned. Food portions were good, but the meatloaf just tasted like baked ground beef. The mixed veggies and corn were okay. Neither of us could finish our meal. I did bring the rest home, but I'm going to have to jazz up this meatloaf when I reheat it. Overall our rating is a "C". Not terrible, but nothing to write home about either. I'm willing to try Silver Diner again but maybe I'll do breakfast instead. read more

I had ordered a salad and asked for no pecans because I'm having serious issues with my stomach. They never took the pecans out and I found TONS of them in my salad. Good thing I'm not allergic to them because I would have been dead. I also found a hair in my salad. This place is disgusting!! I'm getting my salads from Chick-fil-A from now on. Was in the area coming back from BWI and we were starving. It's hard to satisfy different taste so we had to find a general restaurant that sold a little bit of everything . It's been years since I have eaten at silver diner but we lucked out finding this one. Newer shopping center and restaurant. Pretty busy on a Friday night and we had about a 10 minute wait. E" was our waiter. Very pleasant and polite but forgetful. We we asked for items like water or ketchup but since the restaurant just opened - growing pains. The food was either very good or we were very hungry. I had the blue cheese burger with açaí shake. They give you so much that I had enough for 2 glasses full. We have lived in the Mitchellville area for 23 years and have been so discouraged by the deteriorating quality of local businesses and by the depressing lack of home training of an increasing number of the people who live and work around here. Maybe that accounts for some of the negative reviews here, but this place is WONDERFUL. We come every week for take-out in the world of COVID. Sometimes it is crowded, sometimes a little slow, sometimes we are the only ones picking up and it is super fast. No matter what, we have noted the following: - They employ gracious, polite, conscientious young people, most of whom are Black. (Yaaay! Brownie points there.) They all look neat without being forced to sacrifice their personal uniquenesses. (Hair, jewelry, etc is personal choice) I have never encountered a nasty or disrespectful person and I look forward to coming to pick up my food! - The food is DELICIOUS. No, not just good, surprisingly and delightfully DELICIOUS. And healthy. Which most of the places around her do not offer. - The food is interesting. Not just more of the same. - They are prompt. Let's remember that they can only have a certain number of staff members for COVID reasons, and each person has to have a specific role. The wait staff for seated customers may not double as counter help, for example. So my experience has been that they do the best they can based on the volume of orders and customers. And let's not forget they are young people. I am consistently impressed, and I tip accordingly. Give it a try...and enjoy. I have an eggs allergy and because of that the majority of my food options are non existant or for lack of a better term vile. So when I was looking at the menu I really did not have my Hope's up... it was large yes but most allergen Friendly options just are not great. I got the the dish ready to be disappointed and I was not, not in the slightest. I have had Just eggs before. It is terrible. But here it was not. It was so good that I actually ate it all. First off this is our second time coming to this location. We decided to give it another try since the food was lackluster the first time. We waited way too long to receive our and despite the social distancing limited capacity we still had to wait longer than is usual. Our waitress truly tried to accommodate our vegan request but the kitchen staff couldn't comply. I don't know if is because they have limited guests that are vegans or they just didn't want to cook it. We asked for the vegan eggs Benedict and vegan avocados. We were told they only can give us regular eggs. We just settled for vegan scrambled eggs after having to change our order once again. I ordered pancakes with pecans. We didn't receive the pancakes with pecans and the sausage (pork) that was ordered was hard and overcooked. Guests received their meals that sat down after us and had already left before we got our food. What a waste of time. The manager gave us 10% off and two free entree for when we return. Apparently, this new diner just opened a few months ago. Great location and the food looks very appealing on the restaurant wall as we had a 25 minute wait to be seated. We were first seated near the door, but we chose to move to another booth as crowds lingered & the cold draft made it very uncomfortable. 2 nearby customers can be overheard complaining to the manager about the wait time, as well as, how watery their food was. They were very unsatisfied, but the manager seemed to handle it very well. Overall, it's difficult to give this restaurant 5 stars because the wait time was extremely long and our waitress (however very polite) rarely came to ask if we needed anything. In fact, I was quite surprised that I wasn't offered any water. I also believe that we should not have had to wait almost 40 minutes for a small plate of fries only. The plus in all of this is that my meal of Brussel sprouts & lentils were pretty good despite my kids looking on in complete disgust. This was an excellent experience from beginning to end. From the very beginning the staff were friendly outgoing and attentive. The seating was ample and there's a bar on the inside as well which is a unique twist on this concept. Be prepared to show your license regardless of your age even if you're 80 we don't want to jeopardize their liquor license. The food was absolutely delicious and tasty. We had the short ribs which was tender and seasoned so nicely. We paired it with wine and had the brussels sprouts as an appetizer. These Brussels sprouts rival any five star restaurants. The bathrooms were clean. And the soap was good, that I did not require any additional moisturizer after washing my hands. The young and energetic staff of people from our community was inspiring. They have an excellent work ethic and operate as a true team - while our primary server was attentive the team also pitched in as they walk by and cleared away extra dishes as we completed different parts of our meal. This was a very good experience because we know how frustrating it can be to have dishes stacked up on the table. No dishes stacked up because the staff took the initiative and full responsibility that if they saw an empty dish they ask if it was OK to pick it up and take it away. We finished our meal with coffee was was smooth and fresh. This was a 5-star experience at a restaurant that can easily be a go-to place anytime. I'm hoping that the service stays high, because the challenge will space and table turns. This is an easy atmosphere to sit and chill with family and friends. That will make the wait possibly a little longer... but trust me with this level of excellent service it is worth the wait! (we only waited 5 minutes) Finally, great prices and value. Where do I begin? The service was terrible. The wait time was crazy. The floors from the entrance to the back door had a greasy film on them. We ordered drinks, milk for the kids but after they took a sip, they said it tasted funny. I took a sip and immediately knew it was rotten. This made me mad because now we cant order milkshakes which they are known for. We got our food. My wife ordered the pickle brined chicken and waffles. Let's just say the chicken tasted like is was brined in throw up. My kids ordered pancakes which were ok but the syrup was very gummy for some reason. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs.
