Silver Diner has clearly lost the plot. This isn't diner food, it's some kind of vegan-fusion that is barely a shadow of diner food. When you think diner food, you thing all-day breakfast and burgers and sandwiches and stuff. Not quinoa and organic bison. I'm not saying the food is bad, but it is not diner food. That was enough to get it down to three stars, but the service we experienced was lousy. Our waitress never checked on us after delivering our food. The table across from us was also two people arrived after we placed our order. They finished paid and left before I finally had to ask someone to go find her. I ordered a mint cookie milkshake and it took another 20 minutes and when it arrived it was just crushed Oreos in vanilla ice cream. No mint syrup. Not impressed. read more

We've been to this particular Silver Diner several times over many years and have always enjoyed how reliable it can be, especially for late nite (after the club) dining delights! On this particular trip, we ordered soup & salad and also a Ruben. Both were very nice. The Ruben was perfectly prepared and was fresh too! Service was nice and attentive as well. Never been to a Silver Diner before but was not disappointed from this visit. The service was very good and our orders were taken very quickly. I got the pick two lunch special and chose the Turkey sandwich with the crab and corn soup. I also ordered a campfire shake. The shake tasted good but not super special. Pretty unhealthy, but most shakes are. ‍. The pick two was alright. The soup was great and was served in a huge bowl. The sandwich was pretty standard. It's definitely a better deal than Panera's pick two. Overall, this would be a great restaurant for families. Huge selection of food and a friendly environment. read more

Food was great, vibe and music was fun! Amazing service from our waitress. Unfortunately horrible customer service from the start. The two front hostess (both their name tags said Karla) were very unfriendly! Did not greet us when we came in, no eye contact, and proceeded to begrudgingly seat us and audibly whisper to each other "fine, I'll do it". As a former waiter myself, I know the importance of creating a friendly atmosphere from the start. This is unfortunate because we love going to diners. The food was just ok. $18 steak that was tough as hell, the mashed potatoes were very good. Great diner! Clean with friendly service starting from the host, continuing with Aida the server and ending with the bussers. Aida was adorably helpful and provided kind and fast service. She was attentive to every need we had. I had the Oaxaca omelette and it was piping hot and delicious. Very unique menu with lots of options. So here's the thing..the food is ALWAYS amazing. If I was to write a review strictly on the food it would be ***** (especially the French Toast and the Salmon Ceasar Salad). HOWEVER, I am completely disappointed by the service that was received. We were celebrating a Birthday and were well aware of the time that we arrived and when the kitchen was closing (already knew what we were to order and there were already patrons in the restaurant still eating). It was important to celebrate this day and I made sure to communicate with our server (who was such a sweetheart btw Neevan I think) that were ready to order and there was no need to give us any extra time. HOOOOOWWWEEVER, when we first walked in the door we were approached by a man who looked at his watch and then looked at us. He then proceeded to grab two menus and say "we close at 11" (you guessed it.. no hello, no how are you.. nothing). To make matters even more DISGUSTING.. every time he walked passed out table.. he looked at his watch. Oh.. but it gets better. Once the other customers left and finished (which was literally as we were paying and packing up what we did not finish).. this not-so-nice individual decides to turn the lights off on us. Yeah.. WOOOOOOW!! I need you to take pride in the profession you choose.. at the end of the day I'm paying for a service and THAT my friend was NOT a service to be paid for. Silver Diner is very consistent and does a great job when it comes to delivering flavorful "American Cuisine." I usually go for the meatloaf or one of their blue plate specials. The milkshakes are very good and I think there's a special on them when you bring in your evening's movie ticket from Tysons Corner. Something I find critical in any restaurant is cleanliness. To quote Tony Bordain "If they can't be bothered to do the simple job of keeping the bathroom clean, what do you think the kitchen is going to look like?" I think Silver Diner management is well aware of this philosophy and even at weird hours, this Silver Diner is always spotless. Like many American restaurants, it's all too easy to order far more food than you can, or should, eat in a single sitting. Pace yourself here. Even an appetizer can be a meal for one. read more

This is a great place, especially if you are looking for healthier options, vegan or gf. I had quinoa coconuts pancakes, these are gf, came with roasted banana and fruit cup on the side. It also came with agave syrup on the side but to be honest these were so soft and moist that I was fine with only fruit, I didn't put syrup. My husband got waffles with eggs and was happy with it. The Silver Diner has everything you could ever want in a super cool 50's type setting. You can have breakfast when ever you want and their burgers are so great. We love their pancakes and salads. The place is often packed so you may need to wait a bit, but it is worth it. The service is really good and fast. Their prices are reasonable. You will love it. I love meeting up with friends at Silver Diner. Their service isn't the best but it's not horrible either! Sometimes it could get over crowded and the wait is longer than we'd like but the management does a good job with ensuring that guests don't park for too long, so they could keep the line moving. I've actually been kicked out of a Silver Diner in the past for this reason LOL. Their Firefly Farms Goat Cheese Bruschetta is probably one of my favorite dishes. Its a great App to share with 4, even though i don't always like the fact that I have to share it ;) it's THAT good! haha. During this visit I tried their All-American Burger Trio Sliders which were good. I wish the buns were toasted but the sandwiches tasted good. My only complaint was that the fries were cold when they came out :( Our waiter was kind enough to bring out some fresh ones quickly after our request. The dish also comes with a side of a coleslaw which was very delicious. We had the slightest bit of room left after our main dish that we decided to try out their new Peanut Butter Pretzel Ice Cream Sundae... It's....Interesting! haha. It comes out in a huge bowl, definitely too much for 1, unless if you go in just for the dessert. I enjoyed the sweetness of the caramel and peanut butter, the saltiness of the pretzels and the creamy texture of the ice cream all in one. Have been to Silver Diner many, many, many times. Usually a 4 star experience. Visited this location for lunch on the go last week. Seemed dirtier than usual... sticky, everything was sticky. Management: The place needs a good wipe-down. Staff is always hit or miss - this time was a total miss. I'm originally from NJ and grew up around diners. I love the feeling of them, being able to hang out and have a hearty breakfast or a late night snack. Silver diner has revamped their menu, mainly using local vendors and farm to table concept. We usually come here for breakfast. Pancakes are always fluffy and huge. Biscuits taste really delicious and buttery. I always ask for the homefries to be cooked well done. The staff here has always been really nice. The restaurant was spotless and had plenty of room, with counter top, booth and table seating. They have vintage juke boxes at every table, which I did not use but definitely added a nice touch. The staff was friendly and attentive, and our waitress very nice. While many diners have some of the above elements, the food here is something others do not. I was surprised to learn that the items on the menu were farm to table, organic/ locally grown. You don't see that often in the diner world. The huevos rancheros were out of this world. The meat well seasoned, the eggs perfectly runny on top, with a nice ice cream scoop of guac, and those huge pita chips (amazing) complimented the meal perfectly My gfs banana pancakes had a perfect consistency and were very large, and came with eggs and bacon. The coffee they served was almost as delicious as Stumptown coffee. They have plenty of combo meals and unique options, and the prices were great especially for the quality. I've never loved Silver Diner and probably never will. This was my third time trying it, and I still found it just blah. I wasn't terribly hungry when I went, and I've been trying to eat healthy. I was pleased to see that they had a page of "lower calorie" items, but most of them were still pretty high in calories, so I settled for the vegetarian chili, which tasted more like minestrone than chili. It was kind of bland, but edible enough that I ate the whole bowl. Service was fine. I've been avoiding Silver Diner since my first time at Silver Diner, so I find myself there only when others want to go. This location is particularly undesirable, because there's a Cafe Deluxe next door, which is a better option for brunch. For all other times, there's Amphora restaurant on Maple Avenue, which is open 24 hours and has far superior food. Both of those are places I enjoy more than Silver Diner, which I will continue to avoid in the future. read more

This is a very convenient Silver Diner where the service is great. If you go enough times, the people actually remember you and have a table just for you. The only thing is, some of the seating can get drafty. Perhaps it is the construction of all the silver diners out there... I'm a big fan of their sliders, blue plate specials, and chocolate malts. Like my other review notes, you know why you are here, so it can't be anything more than that. Amazing diner! We stopped in for breakfast. The "Farm to Fork" concept is awesome! Love knowing my food is fresh and locally raised/grown. I got the California Omelet and it was delicious! My husband got the Philly Steak Omelet and it was unreal! Price for most breakfast entrees was $10-12... Which is a little more expensive than where we are from in NY. Worth the extra cost with the freshness of the food. On our way out, the line was stretching outside. We got there just in time! So if you don't want to wait for a table, I wouldn't recommend coming around brunch time.... Either breakfast or lunch for quicker seating. read more

Good menu and most things you won't be disappointed in! My husband and I love getting brunch/ breakfast after Early morning's at the gym or yoga and because we live 2mins away from silver dinner it's an obvious choice! However we don't come in as much as we could because there's no coffee selection. It's just regular black coffee. We find ourselves choosing other breakfast spots just because they have more of a coffee selection. We hope the chain would invest in a barista! Had lunch with my friend at Sliver Diner yesterday and came not with mixed feelings. This is a good go to chain when wanting to grab a bite at the wee hours of the morning - the food then tastes much better! Is it the food or the union of alcohol and food in my stomach that makes the experience better at night? Don't know, but the lunch definitely had me wanting for something! I had the fish and chips and the fish tasted like a bad version of Paula Dean's country fried fish - it was lacking flavor and felt undercooked (even for fish). It's address is McLean, VA. ; with a median household income north of $160K- so you might imagine that you would find a "Farm to Table" effort nestled in a Diner. It seems a little pretentious, even haughty. But for some reason it works. They pull it off. The decor is modern Diner with " deco art mural" [although it did remind me of the wall murals I saw in East Germany- arbeit fur dem volken- plow hard for the people!] , the place is clean, the waitstaff exotic and friendly. We debated that our young lady may be Turkish or Greek...never asked her. The food quality was quite nice. Somewhere along the way I have chosen the venerable club sandwich as my "measure" for places like this. They did well, in keeping with the "foodie" theme they used a nicely toasted sourdough bread and actual slices of turkey. A little light on the bacon. My lovely dining partner had a very nice looking burger and she said it was good. The fries were the kind I like with that little strip of skin left on, adds a little earthy flavor to them- not just bland potato and salt. There was even organic ketchup $30.00 (with tip) for lunch for two goes with the location- so no surprises or heartburn with that. We definitely need spots like this in NYC! I'm so sick of greasy disgusting diner food made in bulk. The food here is farm to table which is AWESOME and a great fact to learn when we showed up. This is absolutely the place you should come to for breakfast if you're staying in the area. The banana pancakes I had were so fluffy and golden. YUM. We went to the Silver Diner in Tyson Corners McLean VA. and we had superb service from our waiter Ezzat. We had the crab chowder and the Mango Vegetarian stir fry and they were both superb. And I had Mighty Mango drink which you can get with champagne or sprite I had mine with sprite and it was very fruity and tasty and it had real fruits strawberries and mango. And the Buffalo wings were very tasty. Side note: They have jukeboxes on every table and we had a problem with our jukebox the songs we requested wouldn't come up so our waiter fixed it so that we could hear our songs. Over all very clean restaurant and they have a new menu so if your into healthy eating this is a great choice. It's very vegetarian friendly.We didn't have to wait for service or our food and our food was hot. We were very happy with this Restaurant and will be going back soon. read more

Came here for a dinner meeting. There was free wifi but the signal was kind of weak, perhaps too far from the router. Service was alright although they could probably improve on making this place feel more welcoming. The Smokehouse BBQ cheddar burger was good. Fries were alright too. We were focused on work so we didn't end up playing any tunes, but I love the fact that the jukebox is at the end if the table. Would love to come back when I'm feeling like I need a trip down memory lane. read more
