Silver Fern has become one of my favorite coffee shops in Minneapolis. I work remotely a few days a week, and this is one of my go-to spots to get work done. The space is cozy, filled with natural light from the large windows, and has plenty of seating, including comfortable spots near the fireplace. It's usually quiet enough to focus, and since it's right by the Mississippi River, it's the perfect place to grab a coffee and take a walk afterward. I also love that there are other local shops nearby, making it easy to spend a few hours in the neighborhood. On this visit, I came on a Saturday around 9:30 a.m. with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We were surprised by how busy it was--the line was almost out the door--but it moved steadily and was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Bananas Foster Latte, which was absolutely delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and topped with vanilla cold foam and a caramelized banana slice. It felt like such a fun twist on a classic latte, and the large size was perfect. For food, we shared the Breakfast Flatbread, which was one of my favorite things we ordered. The combination of house-made ricotta, mozzarella, confit tomatoes, onions, eggs, and garlic olive oil was flavorful, hearty, and easily enough for two people to split. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich with maple mustard glazed ham, which came with a side salad and was equally satisfying. One thing to know before you go: Silver Fern is definitely on the pricier side. My latte and the flatbread came to about $28 before tip. I also wish they had a few more hot breakfast options since much of the menu leans toward pastries and baked goods. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the atmosphere and the people. The owner is incredibly kind, and the baristas were especially thoughtful with my friend's nut allergy, taking the time to answer questions and make her feel comfortable ordering. I also really appreciate that they offer 20% off for students and teachers every Tuesday, which is such a thoughtful way to support the local community. Always love this spot! Their coffee is always good and well made. Their matcha is not half bad too. The food served is usually pretty decent and quite filling! The cafe itself is modern and always hopping in the morning. You may have difficulty finding a seat for a large group so keep in mind solo or small groups (3 or less) will have an easier time. It is a small cafe and the tables are quite cozy with each other. Everything is self service in terms of bussing. They really strive to support sustainability and eco-friendly service. Visited with friends for the first time. I ordered café miel, which is my fav drink to order at coffee shops. We were in line to order, drinks took about 15 mins to come out-- it was crowded. The decor was nice and shop felt so lively. I enjoyed my cup of coffee, I started grabbing cafe miel everywhere I go and I can say this has been one of the best in mpls that I've had so far. Silver fern had been on my coffee bucket list for a while now and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere I would describe as cozy and bustling it gets really busy in waves. I ordered a lucky coffee flight that included Lucky Charms Latte ,Tiramisu Latte , Pot 'O Gold Latte ,Pretty in Pistakio Latte I got it hot because the barista said it was more aesthetically pleasing which it was. My friend got the iced one which was also delicious. My favorite would be the tiramisu it was delicious. This place also has some great wine selections my friend did a wine flight the rose was delicious. I also got the avocado toast which was yummy but the flatbread knocked it out of the park so yummy I would go back and order it again. It was crispy flatbread with seasoned homemade fresh ricotta, mozzarella, confit tomato, diced onions, and two eggs finished with a garlic olive oil drizzle and I Added prosciutto definitely a must have. What a lovely neighborhood place for coffee, small bites and wine! I recently used Silver Fern for a group gathering and it was absolutely perfect! We ordered some flatbreads, charcuterie, nuts and other snacks. There was a great selection of wine, and even signature beverages (with NA options!!). I absolutely adore this place! I've been a couple times now and have never been let down. The vibes are immaculate and the staff are always incredibly friendly and quick with orders. I recommend getting there as early as possible because it's very popular and fills up quickly! I most recently went to try their fall coffee flight, which included pumpkin spice latte, miso caramel latte, tiramisu latte (with a lady finger!), and a chaider. To my surprise, I liked miso caramel latte the most! I thought it for sure would've been the pumpkin spice latte. The chaider was pretty good too, but a little too sweet for me. We did have to wait about an hour to get our flights because they ran out of the cups, so it definitely made me more excited to give it a try. There are plenty of seating and tables here, however it's a bit tight especially when it's filled with people. The staff were helpful and friendly, although I am giving this place 4 stars for the price. It was $20 for one coffee flight which seemed a bit steep in my opinion. You can choose an iced or hot flight and can substitute the milk for milk alternatives. We tried this place for a coffee flight we seen online but once we got there we realized it was going to be too long of a wait for us. It was really busy on Sunday morning which is expected. We ended up grabbing two of their speciality lattes and loved them. It seemed like it was seat yourself so we found a spot to enjoy these drinks. The layout felt spacious even though it was busy. The decor was very modern but lots of greenery. It is in the heart of St Anthony Main in Minneapolis so it would be a perfect spot to start a Sunday funday with your friends. Went on a late Sunday morning date to Silver Fern in Northeast. It's such a cozy spot, but gets super busy so seating is limited. I was craving a latte and a pastry, so decided to check them out. I ordered take out and it came out pretty quickly! The pastry's were limited as I got there later in the morning -- recommend going earlier to get a better selection. Settled for the sweet potato & broccoli quiche with mixed greens and the Miso caramel latte. Both were so completely satisfying! I'm already thinking about when I'm going to go back. Wonderful little coffee spot to visit in northeast Minneapolis. A step above the 'big box/chain' coffee shops. I consider this as a shop that creates 'craft' coffees. You can get your basic coffee, but the options on the menu here are fun to explore. My friend and I tried the current coffee flight; he also had a Froze (frozen Rosé). The description of the current coffee flight is shown in the caption. There will be a 'summer flight' in the near future. The staff here are smiling, attentive to your order, and pleasant. They have a number menu items which we are going to try the next time we're in the neighborhood. We were there on a Friday in the late-afternoon. The place was pretty full and the noise level was tolerable. There is a counter area so if you're there by yourself, I'd recommend a place at the counter. There did appear to be connections for USB/electric outlets at the counter. I didn't see any near our table. A definite follow-up visit is in the future. read more

Stopped here because we had heard about the coffee flights and we wanted to take family to try it out. You will need to street park, but we didn't have any issues finding any. When you walk in the set up is simple but fun with plants and decor. The staff greeted us and were very friendly. You also can see the options for pastries right always. One thing I would recommend is that we never saw options for food other than the pastries, or we would have ordered something more substantial. The only menu we saw was for the coffee. Our pastries were all very good though and the flight was flavorful. We got one iced and one hot and also ordered a caramel macchiato. I would definitely go back and try more options. read more

This place was the place to be on sunday morning -- always a great sign!! However, it came with a 25-35 minute wait for a drink (other than drip coffee or cold brew). We still decided to stick around for a drink and breakfast. The food came out fast and I was amazed by the flavors on this breakfast sandwich. My friend is vegan and they made every accommodation they could to ensure she was satisfied with her drinks and so I could add dairy toppings on the side. First time visiting Silver Fern. I like the ambiance it's a super cute place. They had nice pastry and sandwich and soup options. I had the chicken avocado focaccia panini. The panini was really good. There's the option to get it with mixed greens or chips. I loved the matcha and thought it had a really nice flavor. They had a lot of different coffee options but unfortunately the flavors of didn't really come through. The orange latte didn't really taste citrusy and the Lucky charms latte tasted pretty similar to the orange except it had the marshmallow cereal in it. This is one of the best coffee shops in Minneapolis! When you walk in you are greeted with anesthetic that is calm, cozy, and trendy! I was greeted instantly by barista who loved her job and knew exactly what I should order! I ordered the sugar cookie latte while my wife ordered the salted pretzel latte! You could tell the place was well known and loved as it was packed out on the Saturday morning. We came! We received the coffee and you can tell by the photos how much the barista's love their coffee art as it was flawless with an even little pretzel as garnish on top of my wife's salted caramel latte! We then grabbed a table and enjoyed the conversation and the vibes! The bathrooms were also amazing for all of my followers. I wasn't wearing my contacts or glasses today, so I could barely see what was on the menu board. At the very bottom, I saw "Vanilla," "Maple," and "Caramel" and assumed that was one of their specialty drinks. So I asked if I could get a Vanilla Maple Caramel Latte. The barista gave me a judgy look and asked me to repeat my order. They weren't outright rude, but I can definitely feel that they were judging me. When I finally sat down and took a picture of the menu board, I realized those were just flavor options listed under "Flavors & More" and not a special drink. Even if my order was unusual, I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to combine whatever flavors I want. The baristas attitude also kind of reflected the overall vibe of the cafe. It felt more corporate than cozy. If you're looking for a quirky,cute spot with warm energy, this probably isn't it! Went there around lunch time and hard to find a table. Silver Fern was such a treat! Ben, the owner, chef, sommelier was knowledgable, friendly and simply delightful. I am visiting Minneapolis from LA and was so happy I found this gem through searches on Yelp for best coffee in town. We stopped around 4pm on a Thursday to get a caffeine boost for me and a small bite to eat before our dinner reservation at 8pm. We ordered the State Fair Coffee Flight. That came with sweet corn latte, mini donut latter, cotton candy matcha and peach ring Palmer (black tea, lemonade and peach juice). This last drink was my favorite! It had a perfect balance of sweet and tart and was so refreshing, I could have drank a whole pint! The drinks came in tall shot glasses which were perfect for sampling. The presentation was fun, creative and stunning! My partner got the Bubbles Flight and it came with 3 choices of champagne, rose and white wine. He enjoyed that too. We also ordered garlic and red pepper hummus paired with warm pita bread. The pita bread was nicely charred and the hummus was savory, creamy, garlicky and addictive! I was eating spoonfuls of it even after all the pita bread was gone. It was a tasty dish. The inside was aesthetic, modern, warm, clean and spacious.
