This place is awesome! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The place is pretty large, Chinese and Mongolian BBQ, I love this idea. The portions are very large. There were three of us we got the family dinner for 4 people. It's definitely for more than four people. It could easily feed 6-8 people. I am telling you all, the portions are enormous. The food is very tasty. Parking is kinda crappy. If you go on the weekend, I would suggest go before 6pm. Cause it gets busy quick. read more

Now I am a very picky chinese food eater.. My mother was chinese and I am familiar with all chinese food and how they should taste. I was born and raised in SF. this is one of the BEST!!!! places I've been too past SF. I took my husband and grandkids to eat there and I tried the mongolian BBQ and it was good and it even came with rice. My husband had their walnut shrimp with rice & chow mein as well as the 3 of my grandkids. They give you a plate that you can actually share with another or two as it was so much food!!! Now my granddaughter had the shrimp won ton soup!!! Now let me tell you this.. I stopped eating won ton soup other than in SF, because the broth anywhere else was flavorless and I started only purchasing PHO. Always had to add soy sauce & chilli oil. Now this place is the BEST OF THE BEST!!! you do not need to add anything to their broth. It was so good that 3 days later I had my grandson go pick me up some won ton w/shrimp & noodles. THIS PLACE SUCKS For the folks that have rated this place with anything more than 1 star, I feel very sorry for your taste buds and I am upset that I trusted some of these reviews. THIS PLACE SUCKS. I came here last night for dinner, thinking I would get a good Mongolian experience and I was sadly disappointed. This place was FILTHY. The food wasn't even mediocre, it was TERRIBLE. The service was SHOTTY. We were greeted very abruptly when we arrived, were told to just make our bowls while they got our table set up. The beef was pink in the middle but brown around the edges. The pinapple tasted like it sat in a can too long. The grill was up WAY to hot and caused the food to burn. The floor was disgusting and where they put their paint scrapers was very unsanitary (I am really surprised the Dept of Public Health hasn't shut this place down). A young girl was there with her family and they burned her food and they damn near yelled at her to just make a new bowl. I only ate 3 bites of my food before I said absolutely not gonna eat any more of this and I am thankful I stopped when I did. The cream cheese wontons were just that, wonton wrappers stuffed with cream cheese, very basic....the egg rolls were basic too. The soup that they served kinda looked like sewer sludge so I didn't even attempt that and my husband had a few bites of the rice before he told me not to try it (it was THAT bad). And if you know anything about culture, you know that Chinese and Mongolia don't get along so I am still trying to wrap my head around how they have Mongolian BBQ but you can order chinese food from the menu...just doesn't make any sense. Our family has gone to this location a few times and the last time we went, it was not a pleasant experience. Normally we get the Mongolian BBQ to go. This time around we decided to dine in and were given a table in the way back. After sitting for a few minutes we noticed that our table was sticky, so we asked to be moved to a cleaner table. I have not been able to eat much Chinese food since I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The high sodium content of most Chinese dishes can obstruct the reabsorption of potassium in my kidneys that helps to regulate my heart rate. My heart already marches to the beat of several different drums and I take medication to help my body absorb potassium so the last thing I need is an over abundance of sodium interfering with this process. Sodium also makes me retain fluids that can cause blood clots that can lead to a stroke and the possibility of me drooling out of the side of my mouth for the rest of what would not be a very nice life. Mongolian Barbecues give me the opportunity to choose which sauces I wish to pour over my food and the amount of sauce I want to use thus allowing me to be in complete control of my sodium intake. I have always loved Chinese food so I am immensely happy that there is still a way I can indulge. I recently went back to Silver Garden with a few of my Yelp friends. Not only were the sauces as good as I remembered, but I had forgot how friendly the service is. I use the meat and vegetables available to recreate some of my favorite dishes. Last night I made a dynamite broccoli beef. My suggestion is to put some thought into the items you are combining together rather than just thoughtlessly stuffing all the items you like the most into a single bowl and hoping it tastes good. I have obviously never tried ordering from their menu and they were nice enough to exchange a bowl of plain rice for their regular delicious side dishes. I am extremely happy to have found a healthy and delicious way to eat Chinese food and Silver Garden just makes it that much better. Thank you so much Silver Garden! read more

THIS PLACE WAS CLOSED DOWN DUE TO COCKROACHES ON FEB 18 2016! I went into Silver Garden today for lunch and I always check the Sac County Restaurant Inspection Placard posted out by the front door. There's also a mobile app you can get on your phone to instantly check to see if it's a minor offense or something that might want you to think twice! It stated that Silver Garden had a previous closure. So I kept walking until I could check it out. It's been a while since I've added to my Yelp Mongolian BBQ list, so I figured it was time to start dabbling in salty sauced meat bowls for the sake of my followers out there (surely there are followers, right? *crickets*). Despite the drab storefront and stereotypical pleather booth interior, this turned out to be a pretty good spot for some Mongo grub. For less than six bucks, I got a bowl of Mongolian BBQ, egg roll, fried rice, and soup. The Mongolian station was clean and tidy (not usual in these establishments) and the meats and veggies looked fresh. I really liked the sauce flavorings here - I'm used to thinned out sauces that dissipate upon contact with heat, but these left a nice glaze to my meat. The staff here was unobtrusive but friendlier than most Mongo joints. Best part is, unlike some of the other places I've tried in the Sacramento are, I left with no stinky grease odor in my hair! I used to go here often and used to really like it, but they changed ownership in January 2014 and I feel that has caused a huge decline in quality. I've eaten there 5 or 6 times since the new year, and have gotten sick immediately after every time... including tonight, which will be my last visit ever. When the ownership changed they got a new chef for the Mongolian BBQ, and this man is a walking health code violation. Actually I understand they've had several issues with health code violations I didn't want to believe it had gotten this bad. Their previous chef seemed to have much higher standards, he actually would wash his hands, avoid touching his face, regularly scrape off the residue left behind, and delivered perfectly cooked food from a clean workstation. This new chef does none of these things, he has reprehensible personal hygiene, delivers overcooked food with disgusting black gristle from the dirty grill, and eating the food he makes LITERALLY makes me sick. It's a shame, it used to be so much better. I will not be returning, and will be spending the rest of tonight in the bathroom thanks to them. read more

When customizing your BBQ, they provide an awesome selection of meat, vegetables, and sauce to choose from. This keeps your Mongolian BBQ experience from getting stale as you can experiment with different choices. Once you are done with customizing your bowl, you get the joy of watching the master chef cook your food in style. (don't forget to tip him!) Aside from the Mongolian BBQ, their Chinese food tastes wonderful! For the people that complain about the quality of their food, they obviously do not know what authentic Chinese food is-- they can go back to eating at Panda Express. For the price you pay, you absolutely get your money's worth. Unlike many greedy restaurants, Silver Garden serves larger portions. It is very rare that I ever finish my plate; I always have to ask for a to-go box. For those that are saying that the place is a sore-eye or that they have bad customer service, I beg to differ. I've seen really fancy restaurants get closed down for their uncleanliness or cockroach/rodent infestations. Professionalism should be based on their service. Also, if you were expecting to be treated like a princess, I am sorry but you are expecting too much. From what I can see, the environment is absolutely welcoming. The employees are friendly and they make sure that you leave their restaurant with utmost satisfaction. Fresh food that is delicious at a cheap value, family friendly environment, and outstanding customer service-- this is as good as it gets. Without a doubt, they deserve my five stars! Well, I frequented Silver Garden about once a week until last Sunday when my kids and I ventured there for lunch. Much to our surprise they were CLOSED due to a FAILURE of their Health Inspection. After doing some research and reading about their multiple violations throughout this year, I will not be returning. Nor will I be recommending my previous favorite "hole in the wall" place to my friends and family. The inspector is even making the staff attend Mandatory Food School because of consecutive yellow/red placards. Do you research and find another place. Yelp brought Candace H here, and Candace H brought me here for a little Mongolian BBQ for lunch. Would not have been my first choice for Mongolian BBQ if it was not for Candace and Yelp. Not the biggest selection of Mongolian BBQ, but they had all of the standbys. All of the produce was fresh, and the shaved assorted meats where frozen solid and ready for the squishing into the bottom of my bowl. Never again.....We ordered Mongolian BBQ and behind the counter was extremely dirty. We ate our food and it tasted fine until we got a cream cheese wonton with bugs under the plate. There was a lot of baby COCKROACHES on the small plate with the food. They fled onto the table and they were everywhere. I asked for a manager but there was no manager. So I typically don't write reviews with this low a rating, but I was unimpressed that much with this place. I decided to come here on a weekend day for lunch. Upon walking in you notice the outdated decor and water stained ceilings. After seeing this I still decided to give it a chance. Me and my friends each decided to do the Mongolian BBQ, not the Chinese. With it you receive fried rice, soup, and an egg roll. Given the nature of Mongolian BBQ I expected it to be tastier, but I ended up thoroughly disappointed. The flavor of all of the items fell flat and left me not wanting to come back. The place is definitely a hole in the wall dive, but the food is amazing and the service is very friendly. The cook/chef really knows what he's doing to really bring out the sauces you choose. Ohh emm geee, this place is DELISSHHHH! A friend and I stumbled upon this great Chinese place while driving back from Reno a few weeks ago. I had the stir-fried vegetable plate and Szechuan shrimp with shrimp fried rice and my friend had the Mongolian BBQ and some fried won ton. We shared. I don't know how they did it but their shrimp fried rice was freakin' AMAZING! The prawns were so incredibly juicy and tender!! It had this interesting fried taste that reminded me of a fine, authentic Chinese restaurant I had frequented when I was in China a few years ago. The Szechuan shrimp was rich and scrumptious!! The vegetable stir-fry was delicious! I had a taste of my friend's BBQ bowl and it was very flavorful. Fried won tons were crunchy and creamy just the way I like it. I went with him to get his BBQ and watched the chef do his thing. It's like watching a Chinese Benihana chef in action. LOVED the experience! The food was great; the portions were generous and filling; it's affordable; and the BBQ chef was wonderful. I highly recommend this place and will visit it again soon. read more

I LOVE their All-You-Can-Eat Mongolian BBQ. They offer pork, beef and chicken and an impressive selection of fresh vegetables, as well as several ways to season your BBQ with their sauces. It's Mongolian BBQ, if it doesn't taste good, you screwed it up. My steps for good BBQ, Fill your bowl full of beef, and then press it down. The bowl is now half full. Next fill the bowl again, but this time with noodles. Then take the broccoli, and stick the stalks it into the noodles making an impenetrable wall so the onions and mushrooms wont fall off the heaping mound. Add some chopped garlic, a couple ladle's full of kung pao sauce, some soy sauce, and cooking oil. Mission accomplished. Enjoy with Fried rice, an egg roll, and maybe a crab wonton or two. read more

Those prices get you all-you-can-eat bbq, fried rice, soup of the day, and an eggroll. If you're not feeling like Mongolian BBQ and came for the chinese, they have lunch plate specials for $5.95 as well. Service is wonderful, it's fucking cheap and I would definitely return. read more

Been comming here for years. The food is great, saucy and they will give you a large portion as opposed to other locations that cannot match the SG for taste and portions size. I will drive from PFE rd area to SG bc I know that I will be satisfied with my meal. Wish I lived closer and one last thing, the cost is minimal for the amount of food you get and the taste. Went to this place because my all time fav chinese buffet closed down so, this had to! The food was pretty decent on a level of good id say 6 a typical chinese dish. The mongolian bowl my neice had was pretty blain and pot stickers where average. The fortune cookies where not wrapped which ive never seen.
