Thai food for early dinner
Cassandra P.

We drove past this restaurant many times but one evening after work we finally tried it out! We were quickly seated at a booth and given menus right away. I noticed there was a note about $2 beer if I could show that I checked in on Yelp, so I immediately checked in. When the server came to our table, I asked if they still had that beer special and she said she would still give me the $2 beer even if I didn't check in on Yelp. I whipped out my phone to show her that I indeed was able to check-in, so she was really happy about that. And just like that, I got a $2 beer to share with the husband. We ordered the papaya salad (thai style), tom kha (coconut soup with chicken), drunken noodles and mango sticky rice. We loved the subtle sweetness and tang of the tom kha and the fresh salad and noodles all complemented each other nicely. The noodles had fresh veggies in them and weren't overcooked. I like a little bit of spice but they adjust it according to your liking. Everything was fresh and we didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive. The mango sticky rice was the star of the show. The mango was finely sliced and shaped into a heart. Both me and my husband said "awww" as the server placed the dessert on the table. Not sure if they do this with every mango sticky rice but it made us smile! And it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and had the right amount of coconut flavor without tasting artificial. IT WAS DELICIOUS! We would go back just to experience the great customer service again.

This place is very decent. The food is decent quality and had all great flavors you would expect. Often when I have Curry, I take a look at the ratio of vegetables versus meat and it's always vegetable dominant. Service was nice and we were seated immediately upon arriving. Very nice and calm environment as well. Probably not good for large groups but for a nice intimate group of up to four people, this would be a good spot.

Just as good as Coconut on T! This is a restaurant owned by the same owners, with the same menu, and same delicious food. My friends and I decided to try this other location for fun. The basil entree with mixed vegetables was delicious. I loved the basil. We also shared mango sticky rice which is always absolutely delicious! So fresh. The mango was super sweet. My friends got Thai fried rice with chicken, see ew with tofu, and pad Thai with tofu. Each of us really likes our meals. I will definitely be back. The food is just as good as their other location. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and very prompt. Highly recommend!

I love Thai food, and it's becoming increasingly more difficult to find a really good Thai restaurant in Sacramento. When one of my favorite dining companions suggested that we try the coconut on Fulton, I was all in. Yes, this is now becoming a local "chain", since they have a few locations. This was without a doubt, one of the most disappointing meals. Services suite, and courteous, but the food just absolutely not good. We started with spring rolls. First of all, it feels like they just charge a lot of money, by taking one roll and cutting it into little pieces. It's ridiculous. The roll left little to be desired. From the Rice paper all the way to the filling. The rice paper tasted like it had been sitting out on the counter. It was rubbery and just gross. The filling was mediocre at best. The tofu was also kind of rubbery tasting. It just wasn't fresh tasting and the dipping sauce left little to be desired. I did make a request for the standard Thai chili sauce, but apparently they had no idea what I was talking about. The beef salad: it was pretty underwhelming. Well, the veggies and the salad were fresh, the meat left little to be desired. It was bland, and overcooked. The chicken Lab: no one should ever have a sad meal, and this was absolutely a sad meal. The chicken Larb was something that never should've been served. Not only was the meat overcooked, but it was completely unseasoned. It tasted like they literally had heated up ground chicken and then served it. Wait, that might've been better than what was on the plate. Larb should be sweet, spicy, flavorful, and this was just so sad. Not a place that I'll go back to... And it's sad to add this to my list of places not to visit again

Yum! My friends and I have been to other locations of The Coconut and have always had a great time, so we decided to try out this one too. I got the pad see ew with tofu. It was delicious! Great balance of salty and sweet. The mango sticky rice is also fantastic - really lets the natural flavors of the ingredients shine through. Service was good and the restaurant is as welcoming as the other locations are. If you need some good Thai food in this area, make a stop!

I absolutely love The Coconut! Usually my friends and I go to the one located in Midtown, not realizing it's the same restaurant/owners. The food is phenomenal here, every dish we've tried has been delicious, filling, and well priced. The restaurant is clean, beautiful inside, the food comes out quickly, and the staff are very nice. There are tons of vegetarian options here as well! My favorite items are the yellow curry, pad see ew, thai fried rice, and the mixed veggie plates. I just had their mango sticky rice and it is a must order, the rice is perfectly sweet (not overly), the coconut ice cream is delightful, and the mango was perfectly ripe. Please check them out and support a great restaurant!

Fantastic!! Papaya salad was sooo good as was their sticky rice and pad Thai. Wish it was a tad bit spicier but maybe they assumed we couldn't handle it Can't wait to go back

Comfy family-run restaurant with great service, tasty curries with fresh ingredients, decent selection of drinks and beers on tap. We popped by for dinner, it being one of their favorite Thai places. I was not disappointed! I ordered their Panang Curry, which came in this huge bowl with a side of rice. Curry was full of vegetables and firm tofu, with a nice level of spice. So yummy and filling! My friends each ordered the Yellow Curries, their regular orders. Two of got the Ballast Point IPA on tap. I'll definitely be by the next time I'm in town!

Avocado green curry and pineapple fried rice

Pineapple fried rice with chicken - inedible and had to pick through to find any chicken. Medium spicy must mean no spice. Avocado green curry - bland. Nothing like it used to be. Again, barely any chicken even though extra chicken was ordered. Thai iced tea-not bad but extremely sweet. $59.91 is a lot of money to throw in the trash.

My family had a birthday party here and they gave us the side room which was so nice so we had our own area and it was intimate. We ordered the Drunken Noodles, Potstickers, Fresh Rolls, Fried Rice, Wings, Cheese Wontons, Coconut Shrimp, Mango Sticky Rice with Ice Cream, and Thai Iced Tea. Loved my tea! The only downside was the first bathroom does not lock so I accidentally opened it to a guy using the restroom and it was so embarrassing and just glad he was turned around so thankfully I didn't see anything but if I was a female I would probably be mortified.

My friends and I went to get Thai food for dinner and this restaurant was recommended. I ordered the yellow curry and it was so delicious! I enjoyed the seasoning and it wasn't too spicy. Also, the portion was very generous and the service was very good! It was also pretty quiet with the exception of a couple families who were also enjoying their meals.

We decided to get the pad thai, pork belly pad kraw prow, pork ribs appetizer, and gai satay. They first brought out the gai satay and it was delicious. The peanut sauce that went with the dish was super yummy. Then the pork ribs came out. There were only 4 ribs and a small side of salad . I personally thought it was pretty expensive for just four pork ribs, but the ribs were extremely flavorful. I would say probably the best thing we had even though every thing was delicious. After that they served us the pad thai and pad kraw prow. Both dishes were extended wly delicious. I would definitely come back to this place.

When we arrived, it was an hour or two before closing. There wasn't many people, which made me nervous but it was probably an odd dinner time. We ordered a pad kee mao and pad thai. Both portions were generous and perfect for eating family style! The pad kee mao was saucy and flavorful! I was expecting it to be a bit more spicy, and I should've requested extra spicy like I usually do. However, I really enjoyed the dish! The beef was soft and tender. I don't usually like pad thai because many places make it sweet, but I was very surprised by their dish! We asked the server if it was sweet, and she said not really. When it came out, she was right! It barely had a hint of sweetness and the noodles had really good full flavor to it. It tasted like authentic pad thai (which is hard to find) and was delicious. The dish was even better with lime in my opinion! Although I did eat some portions with lime and without lime because I wanted the best of both worlds. They were good either way! I really enjoyed both dishes and I look forward to trying more of their dishes soon! I am very happy with my experience here. The server was very kind and attended to our needs before we even asked for them. I also liked how the chef/owner went to each table to check how the food was and how things were going. It felt very personable.

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY…read more.. Aside from the overly-talkative (and foul) cook(s), this is a favorite of mine. Perhaps it's better to order to-go. NOT a good place for a date. Loud cooks, constant alarms going off, and just not quaint or romantic. Miley & Lauren were great. Miley helped me find the exact meal I remembered and wanted. She even ensured it had the protein I wanted, instead of the "as-is" version. I had the Eggplant Delight with tofu (only) and a small Singha beer. Just how I remember it from 15+ years ago. Highly recommended... for take-out

I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

The thing that grabbed my attention, though, was the ceiling! I loved the way it was decorated. So cute and vibrant. We were the only ones there for a while, so it was quiet. The staff were super attentive the moment we walked in. They greeted us warmly, asked how many would be dining, and they brought over waters and menus. My other friend was still parking. Plenty of parking, btw. The menu laid out each dish wonderfully, so we didn't have to guess anything. We ended up ordering an array of foods including green Thai curry, which came with rice, some steamed buns, dumplings, and noodles. Everything was delicious! The food was a mix of highs and misses. When they got it right, it really worked. When they didn't, it felt flat. The mango curry carried the meal. The green curry dragged it down. Everything else sat somewhere in the middle Parking? Lot We had: Chicken Satay (4/5): Flavor wise, this was locked in. One of the better peanut sauces I've had. Nutty, slightly sweet, with enough depth to keep it interesting. The problem was execution. It came out lukewarm, which dulled the whole experience and made it feel less fresh than it should have. Also could've used more sauce. Still good, just not quite dialed Green Curry (2.5/5): This one just didn't show up. The flavors felt muted and never really came together. The vegetable mix was fine, but it needed more eggplant to give it some body and identity. The chicken was forgettable. Nothing offensive, just flat. Easy pass Mango Curry (4.5/5): This is where things turned around. Bright, layered, and actually interesting. Real mango brought a natural sweetness that worked instead of overwhelming, and the sauce had depth. It felt composed. The vegetables could've been more evenly distributed and the chicken was just okay, but overall this was the standout and absolutely worth ordering again
