Vons Chicken serves up Korean fried chicken as well as oven baked chicken. The chicken comes in a variety of flavors including honey butter, original, and spicy. If you're a fan of fried chicken, Vons is an excellent choice. The chicken is juicy with perfect breading coated on the outside. I found the quality of food here to be consistent and outstanding quality. If you haven't had the honey butter fried chicken I'd certainly recommend that you give it a try. It's about 75% sweet and 25% savory. It's probably the most unique style of chicken on the menu. I really enjoyed it, but pairing it with the original or spicy would be nice because sometimes there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. As much as I enjoy the fried chicken, I probably wouldn't recommend the oven baked chicken. It's ok, but it doesn't have the wow factor that the fried chicken has. The restaurant itself is pretty small as well as hidden as it is off the main road and behind another business. If you weren't looking for this Vons location you probably wouldn't even know it's there. Service-wise I found the folks there to be super friendly. Great chicken spot! read more

It was just being bagged and guy packing it up included a nice salad - almonds on top for crunch with a creamy dressing. Ordered half chicken, boneless, with Vons sauce at medium lvl. The lady running the place is a delight for sure - very friendly... almost made want to stay there to eat and keep her company a little - lol. It definitely wasn't busy and she was probably bored. Given the day of the week and the time I was there, I didn't really expect it to be busy. For whatever reason, I picked boneless and I hardly ever pick boneless. IDK why I did that... but it's definitely on me. I should have picked bone-in. Just a personal preference. Amazing fried chicken! I ordered the 2-piece crispy fried chicken with the soy sauce glaze drizzle. It came with coleslaw and pickled radish. The pickled radishes were sweet and a great relief for the fried chicken. The soy glaze was delicious and next time I might ask for more! I don't know why it took m so long to come in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was great, service was amazing and the place is extremely clean. They made my chicken after I ordered it so everything came out hot and fresh. I don't know why I assumed it came with rice, but its just chicken and rice is a side order. Easy convenient online ordering, so it was ready and packed securely when I arrived. Now on to the food... Fried chicken drumsticks (no soy glaze) were big & juicy, with a crispy exterior and perfectly cooked. I also ordered the drumstick combo with three different sauces: padak (green onion) yangnyeom (red) and garlic sauce. I noticed a slight fishy aroma on the combo so maybe there's a a bit of fish sauce in one of the recipes? My preference was the yangnyum, my husband liked the plain fried chicken and my mom loved the green onion the most. House soy sauce is phenomenal. It has all the flavors...umami, tangy, vinegar, subtle spice, hint of citrus. Very impressed! Mandu serving was so generous for only $8. I didn't take a picture because I started eating it while driving. The wrapper was delicate but stayed crispy 45 minutes after pick up. The filling was juicy and savory. Not sure if it's pork based. Tkeobokki had the perfect chewiness and sauce consistency. I didn't finish the whole serving and still tasted great the next day. We really want to give some credit to this Von's location! It is right off Fair Oaks Boulevard just south of the Manzanita split on Gibbons Drive in Carmichael. We had such a nice lunch there! They only have about 5 or 6 tables, so the seating is pretty limited but the service was so great eating there! The woman working was so kind to our loud party. I've gone to Vons a handful of times. Their fried chicken always satisfies. On my most recent visit, I got Japchae, Tteokbokki (rice cake), a Fried Chicken Drumstick Combo, and Kimbap (Korean veggie roll). This was the first time I've tried Tteokbokki, and it was so good! Since I've heard about it before, I was expecting it to be chewy, but there's so much more to it. It's a little spicy - maybe too spicy for those who don't like any spice - and sweet, and a tad fried, I think..? At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but after a few more bites, I was hooked! So good and very addicting. Don't say I didn't warn you... It was also the first time I've ever tried Kimbap. For sushi lovers, this isn't like Japanese sushi. This was a bit fishy-er tasting. I'm not sure if it's always this way. For me, it was okay. I reheated it the next day, coated it with egg, soy sauce and and sesame oil (according to many a Korean mom), and this way, I could eat buckets of Kimbap. The Japchae was just okay, another first-time taste with this too. My sister is also a regular at Vons, and she said it was good. But the noodles tasted like they had been coated in their powder cheese..? (I didn't get anything that had powdered cheese on/in it.) I don't think it's supposed to taste like this - I could be wrong. I'd try it again just to see. I was disappointed with this one because I loooove noodles, especially if they're veggie. Ever since this Von's opened, I have wanted to try their chicken. They are tucked around the corner and you really have to try to go see them. Life got in the way and every time I passed by I had regret. Also, I couldn't decide what kind of chicken to order so I never stopped. Today was the day I decided as we drove by at about 2. I read the poster outside, sighed and went in and ordered ALL FIVE FLAVORS of wings!!!! (med hot, skipped the plain ones) Also some pot stickers and kimchee rice! Well, let me tell you they were all good! I think next time I will opt for spicy. The coleslaw was wonderful, very fresh and lightly dressed, just enough to keep the crunch. This is a hidden gem! I happened upon it looking for fried chicken and decided to try it. It was in the top fried chickens I've ever had!!! Great portions, flavors, crunchiness, it had it all. I had the boneless which was like a third of chicken breast per piece - huge! The slaw, salad, kimchi fried rice and French fries all equally amazing. 10/10!!! I will be back often. I could give this location of Vons a 5 star solely based off of the service. The lady who took our order was so sweet and charismatic, she made jokes and told us to enjoy our food. Before you enter the building they have the menu next to the door so you can look if you didn't look up their menu prior to get an idea of what you want before you enter and order which is nice.
