My sister & I were hungry & we had to wait for her appointment at the Optometrist (med center) accross the street. We decided to grab something to eat at the closest place. We walked in & noticed a water fish pond/fountain. It reminded me on a cheap Chinese buffet. My sister & I looked at eachother and I asked her "what kind of food is this?". The waiter/server saw us & sat us down at a booth. I sat down & looked around, thought to myself "No wonder it's called 'Silver Spoon' there's a buncha platinum headed adults." The booth setting especially reminded me of the diner in Sienfield. Hahhaha My sister & myself ordered the French toast with eggs & bacon or sausage links. The French toast tasted kinda funny. Kinda meaty, like the grease from whatever they cooked before that was still there. I was hungry & finished every last bite though. This place use to be really good food and seasoned waitresses. They are under new ownership. My experience: I have been getting the all you can eat soup and salad for years, always came with some bread. The inexperienced girl brought my salad ( now let me let you know I had to get the soup to get the all you can eat salad) so when I didn't ask for soup and asked for a piece of bread instead her reply NO, I told her we always got bread and she said the older waitress sometimes gives it...I guess that means because shes young, inexperienced and has ZERO clue to customer service we wont get it!! She brought our fries and now they no longer provide ketchup on the table, so her response was, can I get you anything else with your fries...A seasoned experienced waitress would have brought the ketchup with the fries. So besides the Dingy girl waitress and the cheap "no more bread" I don't think I will be going there again. The best the owner, removed our dishes and he smelled so bad of cigarette smoke. This place is surprisingly good and very reasonable. Perfect place for a starving college student! I went here with a friend for the first time and had their fried chicken which is really good. Since then, I've had their patty melt, shrimp, and I've tried their clam chowder. All were very delicious. It looks pretty questionable from the outside, but it does not disappoint. It is definitely a hang out for the older crowd. The decor is pretty bleh though. They have a biq aquarium right as you walk in and it has a big scary eel looking fish in it. I use to enjoy Silver Spoon but it's just gone down hill now. Waitress doesn't pay attention to the amount of menu's needed. Three of us had to order off of one menu which made it difficult to order. I had ordered a breakfast that had shredded beef and it was not edible. It looked like the left over scraps of fat from the night before. I was shocked that the chefs actually cooked and served it to a customer. It was so disgusting that I had to send it back for a new plate. The friend that I was with ordered oat meal, toast, and banana. When he got his oat meal it was only half a serving and they told him that they ran out. Then it took another 10 minutes to get his toast which is outrageous cause toast takes like 1 min to 2 min max! I am just absolutely disappointed with Silver Spoons Chiefs and service. Ho's Silver Spoon is an old school coffee shop with pretty much every American food you can think of for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I came for dinner and because there are a million things on the menu, I had a hard time picking just one! Hmm fish & chips, burger, pot roast, fried chicken? I finally settled on the chicken pot pie casserole. It was probably 90% chicken with pastry on the top and bottom and covered in yummy chicken gravy. My meal came with three pieces of the casserole and I could only eat half (but the leftovers made a great breakfast!). I should also mention that prior to my main meal I had already consumed a rather large bowl of chicken noodle soup, delicious zucchini bread AND I needed to save room for tapioca pudding. I like this place, it's your classic American diner. My family has been coming here for years. It used to be called Home Kitchen and was right down the street. They told me that the owners of the land sold the land to developers, so they were forced to move. The best thing about this place is breakfast. I like the country fried steak (with homemade country gravy), omelets, and french toast. They serve breakfast all day, so if its 8pm and you're craving french toast, they'll make it for you. I am a huge fan of hash browns and this is one of the last places that does hash browns right. Nowadays, most places make hash browns like McDonalds (a deep fried croquette) or they grind the potatoes to mash potato consistency and then fry it a little. This places shreds a potato and fries it on the griddle, so it has a nice crispy top. The dinners here are pretty good. Sometimes they have breaded pork chops which are pretty awesome. They also have really good zucchini bread that you can have with your breakfast or dinner. You can also buy it separately. Every Christmas, I buy around 10 loafs and hand them out to people as gifts. On Fridays or Saturdays they have clam chowder!!!!! read more

I've been coming here for years with my family and I've always had great service. Silver Spoon has recently changed owners. The new owners are great! After the new owners took over they've put in effort to better the restaurant by painting, getting new dishes and utensils, and providing the best service they can offer. Silver Spoon did recently make a few changes in the menu, for the most part all the recipes and food is still the same, it's just a new format for the menu that looks very neat and organized. PROS: We were seated right away, lots of food, tons of variety, substantial portions, in and out pretty quick, OK prices CONS: We had to seat ourselves (the woman working the counter was really flustered when we came in and just said "pick a booth somewhere over there"), no one brought us menus for about 10 minutes but by then we already had some (I got up and got them for our table about 5 minutes in, they were sloppily stacked on the front counter), it took a LONG time for our orders to be taken, and after we finished our meal we went to the front counter to pay and the woman (not the same one who "greeted" us) was unprofessional answering her personal cell phone as she was ringing our checks up Overall, I probably wouldn't come back. The zucchini bread and toast really hit the spot at the time but nothing else out of my meal was memorable, and the service was fairly subpar. It was difficult to find a restaurant open on Thanksgiving morning, we were looking halfway between. My son found the silver spoon, I think through Word of mouth. They opened right at 8 o'clock and the service was amazingly friendly and my coffee cup never got more than halfway empty. The owners cruised around being friendly and the food was excellent. Silver spoon is a perfect small town diner. It's not at all fancy, just reliably decent food for a good price. I personally get the mini Denver omelet with a side of fruit every time and I'm never disappointed. The zucchini bread is what everyone raved about but it isn't celiac safe so I haven't had it in a long time. There actually isn't much on the menu that is celiac safe, which is kind of a downer. But if you aren't allergy restricted their breakfast portions are huge and it always smells like maddeningly delights waffles in the restaurant. read more

Very disappointing, my daughter gave birth at the hospital next door so it was a long day . We wanted something close and simple . We arrived about 7:35 not realizing they closed at 8:00pm . First sign that the restaurant was not a good place to eat was, we found a parking spot and seating was available right away, We ordered the early bird special which had 2 eggs, 2 sausages and 2 pancakes for $5.99 great price but bad pancakes. The were heavy in weight and very gummy like and had a flavor that i couldn't make out. I like my pancakes light, fluffy and flavorful. Not salty like from cans so pretty good. 3. Fried Chicken. They were very crispy and meat was juicy. Definitely home cooked fried chicken. Not really greasy neither. Ho's has a good variety of comfort food and reasonable prices. I tried the chicken pot pie casserole. It had a nice gravy and the whole thing (dare I say it?) reminded me very much of the "Vienna loaf " that used to be served up at Clifton's Cafeteria in West Covina (my grandmother would take me there). Yes, I missed it, it was so good! Now here it is again, yay! The pot pie casserole was chock full of chicken and veg, no skimping on the chicken here! The chicken noodle soup was good, couldn't taste salt (fortunately) and all the other posters are right, the zucchini bread is very good! We are new to Glendora and wanted to try their local diner so we went there for dinner last night. First, food was ok, not great. I mean, c'mon, it's a diner. Crowd was older, mostly seniors, we were the youngest dining last night. I ordered the grilled salmon, he ordered the sole. Salmon came with mashed potato and gravy and carrots. Carrots were mushy, not a fan. The sole came with mushrooms, they were delicious! The mushrooms were by far the highlight of this meal. Dinners came with salad or soup. Just a word of caution, it's best to order your dressing on the side unless you enjoy your salad drenched in dressing, ugh. So overall, food was ok. Secondly, the service. So, let me start by saying our server was quite young, maybe it's her first job. We had to remind her 3 times for a glass of water and twice for extra napkins. When it takes you that long to remember the simple things (on a slow night) then maybe it's time for you to take the time to focus on what you're doing and pay attention to your customers' needs. I'm giving them a 4 start because we tried to redeem the free drink with a yelp check in and the Asian lady sitting in the front yelled at the server and said Mister Lee said no more. Went there for the first time today. The service was very good, as the order was taken as soon as we were ready, food arrived quickly, and refills were made without having to ask. The place looks very clean as well. I had the chicken and vegetable omelet and it was very good. The zucchini bread was excellent as well. We didn't have to wait for a table. There are nearby breakfast places where it seems you always have to wait for a while. There were many customers at the time, but we didn't have to wait because there are many tables and the service is very efficient.
