After work, I wanted to have a solo dinner with moi. Yes, I love to dine by myself. It was Tuesday so what perfect evening to dine at Mi Sabor Mexican Kitchen. It's been on my dine at list for a while now. It's located at the Route 66 Promenade shopping center on Foothill Blvd and Lone Hill Ave in Glendora. Finding parking was easy. They weren't super busy. I was greeted upon entry. Got seated right away. Ambiance was quaint and romantic with lovely art on the wall. I only wanted tacos so went straight to the Taco Tuesday section of the menu. Btw, colorful menu with good selections. Three tacos for $6.99. Fish tacos baja-style was $3.99 each. I was down for all of them. Got a set of three tacos... one carnitas, one shredded chicken, and one grilled veggies plus 3 fish tacos. Yes, it was 6 pack for me. Lady staff was friendly, nice, and hospitable. Thank you ladies! All tacos were DELICIOUSLY AMAZING! Carnitas were flavorful. Shredded chicken was plentiful. Grilled veggies had great crunch... carrots were amazing! One small gripe, they were tiny tacos... wished they were bigger. Side of salsa for the tacos was perfect in taste... wished it was a full cup and not half. As for the fish tacos, superb at its best! Good size baja fish filet with fresh veggies drizzled with tasty chipotle sauce on a super thin and crispy tortilla. It was so good I had to order 5 more fish tacos to-go. You bet I did. I wanted my daughters to try them. I will return for more fish tacos if nothing else. Btw, guava agua frescas was not the greatest... it was tasteless guava to say the least. Highly recommend for Taco Tuesday visitors! Btw, Taco Tuesday orders do not come with complimentary chips and salsa which was surprising to me. How much are they saving with a handful of chips? I placed a Christmas tamale order and even kept my receipt, because... holidays. Things get busy. Good thing I did, because when I called to check on the pickup, they claimed they "couldn't find" my order ticket. Fine mistakes happen. But what happened next was unbelievable. While I was on the phone explaining that I did place the order and had proof, the chef actually said, "Well, anyone could call and say they placed an order." The audacity. Instead of listening, instead of checking, instead of even pretending to care, I was basically accused of making the whole thing up. And here's the kicker: after all that attitude, all that dismissiveness, all that unnecessary back‑and‑forth, the order ticket suddenly appeared. Miraculously. I still picked up the tamales because it was Christmas and I didn't have time for more chaos, but the damage was done. The situation could have been handled with basic respect and professionalism. Went for lunch in a Wednesday afternoon. I would rate the food a 4 out of 5. I had the steak and shrimp plate. The proportions were good. The steak was a little Tuff. The wife had a shrimp and avocado salad with ranch dressing. She liked the salad but the dressing was a little different that what she is used to. The biggest complaint is the service. There were only 3 tables being served by one waitress. Took the order, delivered the food and dropped off the check at the end. Had a hard time getting refills on the soda. I first asked for a burrito with no beans and they gave me beans .. got a new burrito and it had no flavor. No seasoning was super greasy and so so so small. It was a Friday night and I walked in to see a small band playing live music and friendly staff there to seat us. The servers were all super nice and you can tell they know a lot about the menu. We ordered to steak picado and the chicken mole enchiladas and I have to say the steak was amazing! So tasty from the veggies to the juicy steak pieces. Also the beans were noteworthy because I liked their unique texture and less salty flavor. They also have salsa/bachata classes on Thursday nights that I'm curious to join. Wanted to come here to dine in because my kids mom had soo little time to eat. They wouldn't sit her down because the whole party needed to be present while the restaurant was basically empty. I was on the phone with here while she was asking to get seated but the declined her and sat the people that came in a couple minutes after she did. They didn't tell her everyone needed to be present they just kept telling her oky wait here. This review is for the DineLA menu for summer 2025. We came by a few days back on a Friday night. Apparently, Friday night are live music nights which was cool. The whole restaurant was full and poppin' the moment we got in. We were seated quickly and near the DJ booth for the night. The service wasn't bad for a busy night. The DineLA menu is $35 per person with one appetizer and one main entree. We ordered the Guacamole and Nachos appetizers. For the main course we ordered the Chicken Fajitas and the Torta Chingona. Once the appetizers came out, all we could say was WOW!. The portions were generous and also we already given complimentary chips and salsa beforehand too. Then came the main course and WOW again!. Everything looked so delicious. The Torta was huge. A hefty and hearty sandwich for sure. It was cheesy and delicious. My wife's chicken fajitas were presented sizzling on a plate and with a side of rice and beans! We had so much food we were already full from the appetizers. We ended up taking the rest home. I was searching through Yelp and the DineLA website for participating restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. This promotion is available through August 8, 2025. I did locate and bookmark a few on Yelp. Mi Sabor offers a Prix Fixe menu for lunch ($15), choose a taco or mini burrito combo. This deal includes a soft drink. The dinner menu is $35 for a two-course meal. Choose one Appetizer and Entree: Guacamole with Chips & Salsa, Nachos, Queso Fundido, or Street Corn (my selection). The Entrees are Tacos (Filet Mignon), Fajitas (Steak, Shrimp or Chicken), Torta Chingona (Steak and Chili Relleno), or Shrimp and Fish Al Ajo (my selection). The food was delicious, and a great value for the price. The service was excellent, with several employees checking to see if I needed anything. As a bonus, I came on a Friday evening when a music duet was performing. Per their website, live music is planned every Friday, some customers were dancing and singing along! The decor was beautiful with several art pieces on display. The booths and high-top tables had candles or mini lamps throughout the restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will return on a regular basis. They are located on the infamous Route 66, close to the 210 and 57 freeways. There is plenty of free parking in the shared lot. Honestly, the food was exceptional and truly reminded me of my grandmother's home cooking. The meat was incredibly tender, and their salsa was absolutely outstanding, full of flavor and perfectly balanced. I did a review back in 2022 and back then everything was great, the service, food, portions, drinks. I feel like service has been I don't want to say getting worse but I think maybe it's because they don't have enough staff. The wait time is short now compared to before but I've been having to ask for chips and salsa and the waiters take a while to come back to check on you. The food is still tasting amazing but the alcoholic drinks don't have enough alcohol in them. I really love this place and I want to keep supporting them. My running group is due to meet up here next week so I'm hoping for the best. read more

Clean establishment with beautiful decor. On the smaller side with about 12-14 tables. Has a large bar selection (no bar seating) for the drinker but it took them too long to seat us and take our order because they were too busy making drinks. So docked 1 star for that. Docked a second star because they only checked in on us and provided responsive service when it was time to pay the bill. No offers to refill drinks, no more chips or salsa, no "how's everything." Had a longer conversation with the couple next to us about what we like better about the Upland sister restaurant. We are regulars over there but were in the area so decided to try this place out. Portions larger here than at Pueblita, but no lard in beans and more vegetarian options here. This made my picky eaters happy but I prefer the beans at Pueblita. Queso fundido was very different here. More flavor but smaller portion (less cheese). We usually run out of tortilla at the other place but here this was barely enough for one tortilla. Chips seem homemade but our batch was a little over fried. Salsa was bland and very watery. The Torta was ok. A little bland for my taste and salty from the chile relleno. Best meal we ordered was my son's ham and eggs. Definitely larger portion than Pueblita which made my gigantic 9 yo very happy. Would come back for that plate again. Would I classify the food as authentic? Not really. Flavor here and there, used queso cotija, and some traditional items but more upscale than mom's home cooking. Overall it's a nice place to eat, the food is good, but it's not great. I don't know why Pueblita is better but I think it's the lard. Great place for a date night. Going to come back on a Tuesday for the fish taco because the couple next to us said it is the best. I will give it a try and see how it compares to my favorite Baja fish taco place. It was almost cold and they basically threw everything together so we couldn't distinguish one item from the other with one exception; the taquitos were burnt. Made a reservation for a Friday night out with friends. The place is well decorated with Grinchmas theme and it is so cute for a photo op. Ordered the fajita trio and it was delicious. They also have a great selection of signature drinks. It's a pretty small resto bar so it fills up quickly as the night goes by. Highly suggested to make a reservation. We sought out this restaurant specifically for their mole based on a review I read. "Sweet & spicy, reminded them of home cooking". Well...sad to say it missed the mark. The mole was on the watery side, lacking the traditional flavor. It was perhaps their recipe of putting their own twist on the dish, however it was also disappointing that the chicken they used was strips of fajita chicken :/ Wet burrito was decent...would give it a 7/10. On a positive note, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant and although I didn't try any cocktails, they seem to offer an extensive variety of their own mixed drinks. This place looks amazing when you walk in, love the music love the decor. The waiter meets you with a great big smile and sat us down. We arrived at 1:40 and on the door was a make shift sign saying it was closing at 3:30, we figured we still had enough time so we stayed. This was our first time here and we were very excited. The waiter took our drink order and came back pretty quick. There was only 1 other couple there. My husband and I ordered our meals, Chilliquilles verde eggs over easy and a carne asada burrito. We were not given chips and salsa so we ordered an appetizer the queso fondido. It came out and was accompanied with 3 corn tortillas. That's when things started going bad, that's enough for all that cheese, the waiter then asked if we wanted chips and salsa. It's like they were waiting to see if we were going to order. Our food arrived and it looked great but the taste was just off. It came out all soggy no crisp to the chips at all. The verde sauce was not good at all. My eggs were cooked perfectly. Had a side of beans and they tasted like they came from a can. So disappointed, my husbands burrito was all beans and rice with the pico de gallo in it. It's so said when you have high expectations and the food come out so bad. I let the waiter know that Chilliquilles were not good and his response was "the chef is just "and he stuck his you he out". I have visited several Mexican restaurants throughout the San Gabriel Valley and in the eastern cities toward San Bernardino, and I confidently say that this restaurant is one of the best. The quality of the food is always maintained regardless of seasons and economical changes. The ingredients are always fresh for the customers. I also like the background music. This is truly one of my favorite local Mexican restaurants. Everything I've had here has been so delicious. But honestly, I debate never coming back every time I eat here because of how loud the music is. I'm not talking about the live music. I know that's part of the experience. I'm talking about the music on the speakers. It's so loud that it makes it hard to have a conversation and takes away from the experience. We always end up rushing to pay and leave as soon as we're done eating. With all the places I've been to for chilaquiles which is one of my fave dishes, I'd have to say that this dish is VERY middle of the road. The service here is okay, but I think there was a communication issue with understanding the difference between brunch and buffet. I'd say that's more on me for not being more accommodating and maybe even using/practicing my Spanish more, so I take ownership of that. I was looking to try different buffet items and thought ordering buffet and starting with chilaquiles was understood, but it turned out to be a single dish order. I do appreciate being asked if I wanted any meat with my chilaquiles, but I don't appreciate not being told that there was an extra cost for the chorizo or the avocado. I didn't even ask for the avocado, but each were itemized charges on my receipt. I would have done without the extra charge on avocado and would have been okay being told that chorizo was extra. The ambiance here is above average and welcoming. I'd like to come back and amend my review if I try other items. Solid three stars for my first time. I Came in around 135p, cause it was close to my work; the establishment was pretty empty with only a few tables eating; I was really craving Mexican but had a short amount of time to eat.
