We loved it! We had their moco loco which has rice a hamburger patty and egg (prepared however you want) it also has gravy and let me tell you it was delicious! We also tried their stuffed French toast with Nutella and fresh strawberries and it it did not disappoint it was also delicious! Our server was really nice 10/10. The place is really cool definitely a spot to come back too :)

The two pictures were taken on different days, or not oh well. But we came once and got burgers and really really liked them. They were so good and the fries were nice and crispy. We also ordered a milkshake that was great too. We also came for breakfast and it could've been better. I wish we would've gotten more food. I ended up eating all of my food, the omelette with the toast, and then finished off half of my girlfriends pancakes

Open since 1978 this is one of the classic, famous diners on former Route 66. The service and prices were great however, the food was just good and given all of the steep competition in terms of other diners in the area I had to give D's a four, but overall we still enjoyed our breakfast. Inside looks as you would expect from the outside in that it is a traditional, 1950s retro diner. I have been going through all the diners in LA County and this was one of my very last ones on the list. It's located in eastern Los Angeles, in La Verne, in a sleepier part of town. There is a large parking lot attached so parking was free and easy. Also, our server was very polite and just like all diners everything that we ordered came out very fast for a fair price. I usually get Eggs Benedict or a Country Fried Steak when I go to a diner, but this visit I wanted to try one of their newly added items: the Loco Moco. It was not the best version that I've had this year, but it was still really good, the burger patty was cooked perfectly, so were the eggs, however, the gravy wasn't as tasty as some others that I've had recently. It was a very large sized portion, so I was quite full after finishing it. The menu does have a lot of other classic dishes on it, which I would try if I stop in again in the future. I would suggest this to anyone in the area, although there are a few other diners close by that I believe edge this one out.

We've been coming to Mr D's for over 20 years now. The menu has changed, but the service has not. We always get the same friendly and warm welcome each time. And the food offerings got pared down - which is great because too many choices can be overwhelming - and they retained the most popular menu items. Our food came in record time and was tasty, filling and a good sized portion! We got so much bang for our buck. Mr. D's is always the best bet for a satisfying meal.

Just made another visit to Mr. D's....I usually get a breakfast burrito - today's breakfast burrito was not very good today. The burrito's tortilla was soggy from too much grease and it was very salty.

What a spur of the moment stop and let me tell you I'm SO glad we did!! These were some of the best burgers, service and hospitality we've had in a long time. We will 1000% be back to enjoy more delicious food. On a non food related note... the staff were absolutely amazing. Susan was wonderful, made us laugh and feel like family. If you want amazing food with even more amazing people, you need to come here! See you soon Susan!!!

Stopped by on our day out and we loved it. This diner had something for everyone. And everything was yummy. The aesthetic of the place was so nice and the staff was very welcoming. Our Server was Susan and she was awesome! She was so friendly and always attentive to our needs and making sure everything was good from start to finish. Will be coming back.

While the food was great and they put together a really good combination in the country breakfast--country gravy over sausage over biscuits plus two eggs and hash browns--the service I found was slow at times. It's not their fault: they are a pretty busy joint. But still at the end of the meal I was left waiting for another coffee refill and the bill after that when it became clear there wouldn't be time for a refill. And, while the first half engendered good thoughts about how great the place was, the end of the meal I just felt kind of annoyed no one would refill a coffee or take my money without what felt like excessive flagging someone down. Again, I loved the meal and the first half of the meal was perfect service. I just hope my next trip here isn't met with the same level of inattentiveness that colored my experience at the end of the meal.

This is a delightful Old-fashioned diner in the La Verne neighborhood. The owners went all out on the design, decor and furnishings. The menu gives generous portions and has good selection of breakfast omelets, egg scramble and skillet meals. The pancakes, waffles and French toast have your favorite fruit toppings (strawberry, Blueberry, chocolate chip, banana, etc). The Lunch and dinner menu is also impressive with burgers, fried chicken, pasta, meatloaf and salads. I ordered the Sliders, which were bigger than the average mini Sliders I have had at many other places. My strategy was to eat a light meal and a chocolate milk shake. Everything was delicious! The customer service from the hostess to the wait staff was very good and the employees were friendly. You could tell that they enjoy their job. The restaurant is squeaky clean throughout the restaurant and patio. It is a pleasure to dine here. The prices are a little on the high side, but the amount you receive could easily be shared or leftovers taken home for a second meal. Take a step back in time to experience this diner for yourself and don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya!

From the moment you first walk in to when you leave every staff member there is extremely helpful and friendly. They provide great service and help answer any questions. Now the food. The food here is so bomb. I have tried multiple meals here but my all time favorite is the pulled pork benedict which is always delicious and flavorful. You have to try the twisted potatoes. My favorite is the cheddar cheese or blue cheese with bacon on them. They are cheesy and delicious. They always have good drinks here as well. I always enjoy the mimosa flight. They always have a seasonal menu which is always pretty good as well. This past month they had banana foster french toast and I wish this was a permanent menu item. It is so good especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They also have delicious cinnamon rolls and bread pudding as well. I can't wait to come back and have some brunch again. For 8:30 am on a Saturday morning, this place was quite busy and the flow of customers did not stop the entire time we were there. There was plenty of parking in front and to the side of the cafe, as it is at the end of the strip mall. The display case of baked good intrigued me and I was divided between the Banana Bread and another item but after asking the cashier, he also suggested the Banana Bread. Since it was my first visit, I tend to purchase a bit more to enjoy later as I am unsure if I'll get the chance to stop by again. Banana Bread (pass) $5.75 When trying the Banana Bread later that afternoon, it was dry and not very delicious. We bake better Banana Bread at home, so it was not worth the $5.75. Kevin's Breakfast Sando w/ country potatoes $14.95 Grilled sourdough, prosciutto, pesto, garlic, mayo, provolone, arugula, and fried egg w/ tots, country potatoes, fries, or side salad From the Yelp reviews, I knew I had to try Kevin's Breakfast Sando and I ordered it with Country Potatoes, but the Country Potatoes do not include onions or bell peppers. It's like a "take" on country potatoes but not exactly country potatoes. I still enjoyed them nonetheless as country potatoes are my go to, but no one would also ever go wrong with tots! The Sando was delicious, but a bit tad salty for me, but I would most definitely order it again. 12 oz Black Eye $5 2 shots of espresso in drip coffee Since I am not normally awake this early on a weekend, I was needing caffeine more than ever, and I was very pleased to see Black Eye on the menu. I do not often, if ever, order Black Eye so I had to ask the cashier what it was and when they said it was espresso in coffee, I was sold! All the food and drinks were served on/in disposable containers, which from reviews, it seems like they started doing that since covid and have continued to do so. Service is interesting but overall nothing to complain about. One orders at the counter and they call your order for you to pick-up but with the acoustics in the restaurant, one may not hear their order being called. Sometimes an employee would bring a drink or so around to the customer if they did not hear their order being called, which was nice because it could get quite noisy on the inside. This is most definitely a family-oriented restaurant and I love see people of all ages enjoy time together, especially over breakfast. I love breakfast food, it just brings a sense of peace as we begin our day and what better way than to enjoy the food and company!

And then I just mix them up for the last five to eight bites. It's heavenly, combining the best parts of the breakfast into a mash that is more delicious than its individual components. I call it the Grand Finale. And I've done it all across the country in dozens of cities in hundreds of restaurants for decades now. But it takes really good runny and sunny eggs that haven't been overdone or else the ten to twenty minutes of eating everything before the Grand Finale is just going to leave the eggs hard and unusable. It also takes some good meat that not only will be flavorful on their own but also blend well with the mush. And lastly, it takes a good set of hash browns that isn't overly crispy or overly mushy. Roberta's Village Inn has all of that and more. That was one of the best Grand Finales I've had in years. Usually I don't do it with gravy because the country gravy tends to overpower everything else. But the country-fried steak with gravy didn't do that at all. It blended right in with all the other tastes. So too did the eggs remain remarkably running, all the better to be mixed at the end. And, of course, the thin-cut hash browns was plentiful, seasoned (by me), and, mostly importantly, crispy enough on top and bottom, while remaining soft (but not mushy) within. It was the Perfect Storm of a Grand Finale. The service was great. My server took extra care of me, even when I made the mistake of not noticing the food joint was cash only. I took it all in stride. She not only checked on my just frequent enough but was extra helpful in getting me refills, to-go containers, and the check when it was appropriate. The mood and style of the place was classic diner and I dug it. All ever want is a place to chill in with good food, that isn't overly pressured to kick you out for turnover sake. I was about to say it's kind of a small dining room, but when I went to the ATM I saw they have a whole other dining room that must be for when the place starts jumping for the breakfast rush. I'm assuming that's their busiest time judging by how memorable my breakfast plate was tonight. Overall, I already want to come back during breakfast hours and witness the majesty and awesomeness of this food joint when it's fully operation. I'm betting that's really going to be something to see.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought.
