I had heard exceptional things about Silverado's so i was excited when I finally got to give their food a try. I was part of a group reservation for 6-7 people, our reservation was ready right at the designated time which is always a win. The dining room felt a little old and outdated to me -- crammed as well. I found myself having to squeeze past other diners to get to the table (props to the servers for navigation that maze with trays and plates). The staff is friendly and quick, we had both children and adults in our group and they adjusted to the needs of each diner quite nicely. All of the food we ordered came out hot and fresh but some folks were server 4-5 minutes ahead of others. Would have been nicer to have everyone served at one or within one quick trip back to the kitchen of each other. I ordered the chicken and steak combo fajitas which were really really tasty! The meat was well seasoned and the fixings that came along with the meat (grilled veggies, pico de gallo, etc) all seemed fresh and had good flavor. A few others order steaks and the famous pork chops. I got to try some of the porkchop and I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed for all the hype I've heard it receive. It's a solid meal, don't get me wrong -- but it didn't make me stand up and sing like I thought it might. Glad I went with the fajitas. Overall, a tasty meal indeed. Would I return? My friend comes to this place for their salmon dish. We were on the way back to Maryland from going to Potomac Mills. He tried to call in the order but was directed to use the app. So to my surprise he ordered two of the Short Smoked Salmon Filet entrees. The salmon is marinated and smoked then hickory grilled. The tender salmon is served over mashed potatoes and with 2 pieces of broccolini. Underneath it all a delicious Dijon cream sauce. Everything was great and matched up well. The salmon was flaky and flavorful and the sauce with the mashed potatoes was perfectly seasoned. The service was prompt and efficient. The servers were pleasant and wearing masks and gloves. They also had someone cleaning the door and handles down in between servers coming in and out. I can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. read more

The food is ok, but it has gone downhill lately. We only do pickup at this location. The last time we picked up, it was within our pickup window, but we had to wait 30 min for our food to come out. I was missing a sauce and one of the plastic lids was melted. My parter's hamburger was missing all the toppings. I've been to Silverados many times over the past decade, and have always been happy with the food & service. However, yesterday's experience (May 5th) was probably the worst service I've received at ANY restaurant. My husband & I came in for lunch around 1pm. We were shown to our table by a gentleman I believe was the manager. We didn't even have time to sit before he asked to take our drinks order. I knew it was lunch time but I immediately felt rushed. When it came to our food, my husband got the fajitas while I ordered the hickory bbq burger. My husband's order came out & mine was nowhere to be seen. Btw, we weren't the only table experiencing service issues. There was a large family sitting in the corner booth, and their food was coming out slowly, in rounds as well. Our food was good, but the service was horrid. We couldn't find anyone (including the manager who originally seated us & took our drinks order) to refill our drinks or provide additional condiments. When it came time to get our check, that too took FOREVER. We literally spent more time waiting than actually eating our food, and had to flag down random people to assist us. My cousin and I ate dinner there this evening. We each ordered the baby back ribs. They were phenomenal, definitely among the very best that I've eaten around the country. (I had an argument with myself between choosing the jumbo lump crab cakes or the ribs.) I'm a quasi-connoisseur of cole slaw. It is not the typical finely shredded cabbage and carrots; it's a style with thicker chunks of those veggies. My standard is the taste of the dressing. It has to be just-right sweet, which indeed it was. I gave it a B+. The fries are the finger style and they too were exquisite. No need to add salt; the kitchen prepares them perfectly so you can taste the potato...crisp without being charred or soggy. We were a large group that made reservations to SIT TOGETHER. The last time we were there, we sat at a long table in a certain room. Last night, it was obvious that they were more interested in cleaning and closing on time than making sure their paying LARGE GROUP would have an enjoyable experience. First, they tried to seat EIGHT PEOPLE in a corner booth. Of course we didn't fit. Then rather than put us in the room we were in last time (and in the room we requested) they seated us at two adjacent tables. They were far enough apart that we couldn't have conversations (the tables were bolted to the floor and couldn't be moved). I ordered a salmon salad. The salmon was overcooked, and it had a bland, "builders standard" flavor. I wasn't expecting the food to be particularly good (chains are usually not the place to go to for an excellent culinary experience"); I went to spend time with friends. without that, this was definitely a bad experience for me. The manager made the decision to not allow us to sit together, and there's a provision at the bottom of the menu for large groups. Less than mediocre food, plus an uncaring staff makes me tell anyone who has ears to hear, DO NOT GO THERE. Even the cocktail I got was terrible. We drove from DC (after work) to Annandale, VA looking for another restaurant that I wanted to try down the street. As we passed by, my husband point out Silverado. I knew what that meant - he wanted Silverado. We still ventured a few blocks down the road and I checked out the menu and the atmosphere in the other restaurant. I realized - as much as I wanted to try this place, it wasn't going to be as good as going some place familiar to him. We decide, tonight is not the night to try something new. We get in the car, make a U-turn and head over to Silverado. I realized that I've been here before (many years ago). My husband tells me that he had been here many years ago and had a great steak. When we get to the door, I see a sign stating "great american restaurants" - I then tell my husband that this restaurant is part of the same team of restaurants that we love (Mike's American, Carlyle & Coastal Flats). Basically Sweetwater Tavern but with tortilla chips! Don't worry they still give you those amazing Ozzie rolls with a few surprise carrot cake slices slipped in as well. I'm a fan! Silverado is also one of the rare Great American Restaurants that serve brunch and I was surprised to see how hopping it was. We came with a very large party but the service was outstanding, they handled our multi-generational tables with great ease and the food came out absolute perfect. My smoked salmon salad was perfect and my fish loving daughter was able to order a kids sized portion that she devoured instantly. On the brunch side our table went wild for the Annandale Scramble (which came with a nice flaky biscuit on the side). I also noticed that this place is a hot spot for senior citizens so if you are looking for delicious food with a mature crowd this is your place! read more

I grew up near Silverado and continue to frequent the restaurant as an adult when I visit home from the west coast. This is a great neighborhood spot that has consistently good food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have the best free chips and salsa. The chips are light and salty and the salsa is roasted/smoky and homemade. They also have free ozzy rolls which are essentially fried dough with honey butter. During brunch they cover them in sugar. When they ask if you want ozzy rolls or chips and salsa, do yourself a favor and ask for both. The salmon here is probably the best salmon I've ever had in a restaurant. The salmon entree and salad both have about the same amount of salmon so it really depends on what you're in the mood for. Fajitas are bomb - especially the portobello ones. There is a lunch portion or dinner portion. The dinner size is great for sharing or eating on your own. I highly recommend ending the meal with a chocolate waffle. This is flourless and oozing with chocolate sauce. It's served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. You'll encounter a wait at peak times such as weekends. Just coming back to update my review based on the conversation I had with manager Courtney. She reached out via Yelp and called to apologize for the negative experience I had with a server about a month ago. I really appreciated it but hope her sentiments trickle down to staff dealing with customers directly every day. My main concern- being brown and connecting people with disabilities to the community, is discrimination. We talked about both of those things and agreed that I shouldn't have to wonder if bad treatment is due to one of those things. Everyone has had a bad day at work, so I hope GAR really has cultural sensitivity, embracing diversity and weeding out snobs as part as of their company policy. Easy parking, nice decor with giant cowboy statue behind the bar, and great service provided by everyone especially Aaron our server. The food was good, starting with the bread basket ($1 but goes to charity) , we did the rolls. Kind of mix between bread & donut? With honey butter. Could be dangerous. Wife did Steak Fajitas which came hot and sizzling which is how she likes it. She was impressed with the flavor & thought it was all seasoned well. Everything was tasty from the beans to the rice. Plate came with plenty of delicious tortillas to pack all of it in and nice thickness so did not fall apart from over stuffing- Around $25 I did the drunken Ribeye Steak with mushrooms which also came with stuffed baked potatoe (was not available so went with loaded mashed potatoes. The steak was flavorful, it was a little on the thin side, and fatty. This is the fourth GAR my husband and I have eaten at and, as the other three, it did not disappoint for a casual, low-key dinner on a Friday night. I made reservations on Resy for 7:45pm, but we still had to wait about 10 minutes once we arrived. That was really the only negative of our experience here. Also, parking is tight but we did find a spot in the lot. Service was really attentive and friendly throughout our dining experience. Although we had our main server, we did have someone else that refilled our waters a few times and yet someone else that asked if we wanted more chips and salsa and refilled that for us too. We started with the chips and salsa as opposed to the usual Ozzie rolls. It was a nice change, but I still can;t get enough of the Ozzie rolls! The salsa could have been spicier but the chips were fresh and crisp, not overly or under salted either. My husband ordered the baby back ribs, which came with fries and cole slaw. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the bbq sauce on them was really tasty. It was a large portion, which he still managed to finish along with the fries, which are shoestring-style and were also fresh and crisp. He is not a cole slaw fan but I am and had a bite and it had a nice ratio of mayo to cabbage and a nice peppery taste without being seasoned by the table. I ordered the chicken fajitas because I could not remember the last time I ordered fajitas out and I am a fan of this dish! The chicken, onions, and a jalapeno were served on a sizzling platter with fresh tortillas on the side. Cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream also came on the side. I loved the seasoning on the chicken which was spiced well especially when paired with the jalapeno I sliced up. The portions of everything from the chicken to the guac and sour cream were generous. I loved the flavors and would definitely order fajitas at Silverado again! As at all GARs we have visited, Silverado provided a delicious meal, in a casual atmosphere, at a reasonable price. This place is not too bad, but not the best either. When I asked for apple juice, they didn't have it, but the water was passable. I ordered a burger and some fries. The fries were delicious, but the burger was so horrible. The dessert was a chocolate waffle, which I loved, so it overall gives this place 4 stars. If you come here specifically for burgers, do yourself a favor and go to the Jukebox Diner across the street. This place is a hidden gem found in the heart of Annandale, a dead area. Although, Silverado is one of the chains of Great American Restaurants like, Mike's American Grill or Sweetwater Tavern if you've ever been there. It's a lovely fine dining restaurant, nicely decorated interior with a bar located right at the center. It can be dim but provides atmosphere for dining, maybe for a date or a evening out. The food can be pricy, so if you just your paycheck then you're more likely to go. If you only have like $8, maybe go to chipotle or something. Anyways, the food is great! People usually come for the fajitas which come out sizzling hot! The good thing is they taste just as good as they look. They also have many other dishes like salmon, a special fish of the day, steak, etc. If you live in Annandale or near the area, you have to try it at least once. I am definitely a fan of Silverado for a couple of reasons. First, there are the Fajitas. My favorites are the stake and portobello mushroom combo. They are just so darn good! Even the side is really good so don't ignore the Cherro Beans and Cumin Rice, good alone or accenting the fajitas. Second, I am a fan of their Hickory Grilled Chipotle Glazed Pork Chops. Next are their side salads which often include the champagne vinaigrette. These side salads got me loving goat cheese and good vinaigrettes. Also from the small plates I liked the calamari and the tex-mex egg rolls. Within the soups I enjoy the lobster bisque and the tortilla soup. Hubby likes the salmon. If you make it to desserts, I know it is hard with all those good food options, I have really enjoyed the Warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding. I have one friend with whom I visit Silverado just so we can split the dessert. The staff is always attentive and helpful. Even when something does not go right it doesn't feel like a big deal because they correct quickly and you will be sure to get a stop by from a manager who is just checking in and making sure you are happy with the result. The biggest problem with Silverado is it is the only real American or Tex-Mex sit down restaurant in 'downtown' Annandale and as a result it fills up fast during peak hours. I live within walking distance of Silverado but on a Friday evening (or most other weekend times) we hop in the car and head in a different direction because it just isn't worth the waiting and rushed crowd feeling even if we do enjoy the menu. I don't know that there is anything Silverado can do about this but perhaps some folks with 'downtown' Annandale influence are reading this and understand what I am saying. read more
