I have been in Falls Church for the last week and a half for a business trip. Since being here, I've gone to Silver Diner three times! Part of this is due to the solid food, but I have to give a special shoutout to our waiter Naren. He is so attentive and helpful with menu suggestions, as well as a very kind man who seems to care about his customers. Next time I come back to NoVa, I will make sure to stop at Silver Diner again. We loved this place! Excellent food and excellent service! Old fashioned diner atmosphere but with healthy delicious food options. I ordered off of a seasonal insert menu that had a fresh vegetarian angel hair pasta dish, and I was able to add grilled shrimp to it. We all enjoyed our meals and our drinks. Highly recommend you give this place a try--especially if you are staying at the Homewood Suites Hotel, since you are able to walk across the parking lot to go here. read more

The beginning of this dining experience did not start off very well. First it took a while to get our order in and waited a while for our food but eventually we got it. My son got the tomato bisque. I didn't even know he knew what it was. He said it was good but not as good as Medieval Times!? ‍ He got his soup early. I didn't get my soup & side til he got his main course. The Yukon Gold mashed potatoes were fair but could have used some more flavor via butter or bacon! The crab and corn chowder was flavorful but not much crab (more crab juice) and a lot of corn. There was a hint of spice but the crab meat was missing. My son's flat iron steak (ordered medium rare) looked great with bleu cheese and butter topping, side of yukon gold mashed taters, fried crispy onion strings & sautèd spinach with garlic. When my son cut open the steak it was grey. Over cooked. Medium well. I had to alert our server. He showed it to the manager who showed it to the head chef. He made a face and shook his head. After 8 mins, my son got a new one with an apology from the server & manager and a coupon for a free entree next time. He cut it open and red/pink juice spilled out. It was a perfect medium rare. He ate the entire steak. He said it was juicy and flavorful. We also noticed (we had a good view of the kitchen & line) that the head chef cooked the steak. Service was good, Ambiance, very noisy but tolerable. Food, what a let down. This had been one of our favorites but we hadn't been in a while. My meal, the Smash burger, they hype the farm the meat is sorted from then apparently give it to a cook that has no idea how to season food. Also, the cheese is supposed to compliment the burger, not smother it. Sweetwatr makes a superior burger at about the same price point and Freddy's makes a better smash burger at half the price. My wife's omelet was some sort of culinary crime. Although cooked on a flat top there was no air whipped into them so they were flat and rubbery. Honestly Waffle House makes a fluffier omelet. What a shame to treat premium ingredients with such disrespect, no pride,love or care in the food. At these prices it was a disappointment. read more

Silver diner continues to be our lunch spot. Their healthy section of the menu has a good variety of protein, salad, and sandwich selection. The lemon chicken piccata was flavorful. Portion size was on the smaller end, we ordered dessert to fill up our tummy. Service was fast, given lunch time on weekdays, there were not a lot of people to start with. I ordered the fish and chips for pickup. The wait time was 30 minutes, which was no problem at all. My order was ready as promised, and I asked for malt vinegar, which they promptly provided. You can see from my photo that this is a very substantial meal. Three fillets, a full Caesar salad, a small side of coleslaw, and a small portion of fries. The fish was absolutely outstanding, as was the Caesar salad. The coleslaw was so small that they shouldn't have bothered. The fries were pathetic, a cold soggy mess. My recommendation: This entree is worth ordering, however, substitute the vegetables for the fries and choose something other than the coke slaw. read more

This review is for the outdoor service. Mind you, the food here is truly wonderful--lots of organic and healthy delicious choices. The food here could easily be served at any high-end restaurant. My issue is with the outside seating service. Because of the beautiful summer weather, I really like to eat outside whenever possible. Twice now we have eaten outside. Each time the servers were not that aware of the menu items or pricing. Additionally, the service can be a bit poor. For example, this last time our entrées came out to us together, as they should. No sooner we picked up our forks a waitress brought out our dessert. We looked puzzled and the waitress looked at us and said: "Too soon?" We answered: Yes! We told the original waitress we ordered our food from about the issue. We wanted to make sure she knew that we still wanted our dessert, but after we ate our main entrées. She seemed puzzled and unconcerned. Another item that is a little puzzling is the lack of lighting as the sun goes down. As the night got dark we asked the waitress if she could have the string lights put on. The waitress left, came back, and said the manager told her they were broken. Too bad because it's quite cute when the lights are on. Having said all this, I may not eat outside again, but I will definitely be back for their wonderful food. I love this place for its convenience and consistency. I've never had a problem. Service was a little slow today but overall mostly positive experiences. I've had many dishes from the menu to include breakfast lunch and diner. One suggestion I have is if your entire table is drinking water, please bring a carafe of water versus letting everyone's cup stay dry. It's June, six months later, and we are back! This time Angie is our server. We were greeted upon entry by a gentleman that appeared to be the manager, he immediately began by joking with us and another "regular" customer, it was fun! This time I am going to have the Organic Bison Huevos Rancheros and my wife is having Avocado Toast with Salmon. The menu here looks great! Huevos Rancheros was excellent, not the Huevos Rancheros I grew up with, but great all the same. The bison was VERY lean but the chorizo evened it out. I ordered the vegan cauliflower curry dish. I asked for my cauliflower to be steamed instead of flash fried. The server said the chef would accommodate but my food was so greasy and disgusting I couldn't enjoy it and gave it to my husband. So... I came here on a random search. I had a doctors appointment in the surrounding area, had some time before my next obligation so I stopped here for wifi and food with my MacBook. Arriving was fine, my seating was fine. As far as March 2022 Covid regulations go, employees did wear masks throughout the establishment. The service.. was decent. I didn't lack anything, it was just difficult at times at reach my waiter when I did want something (like a new straw because.. there's are paper. :), or napkins because for some reason I was only given 1 at a time) - maybe because I came by myself? I'm not sure. So to the food, it was below average. I ordered an iced coffee, a water, the western omelette and a side of bacon (all pictured below), and I honestly could've made better food at my house. Took my parents here for lunch and was pleased with the healthier food options offered. It's not the diner of the past as the average main dish looked to be around $18-$20. Surprisingly, tables offered a bottle of "organic ketchup"! My husband ordered the "Warm roasted local veggie salad." He loves beets and Brussels sprouts. Sadly, it didn't come with the pecans or dried apricots as advertised but most disappointing was discovering the veggies were all boiled and cold, not roasted or warm. (Insert sad face emoji) On the flip side, I tried the plant forward Thai cauliflower quinoa pasta. It was very tasty! My folks enjoyed a burger and the cod. While the cod was done well, we found the accompanying quinoa to be a bit more salty than we expected. Otherwise the plate presentations were all lovely and appetizing.
