Silverbow Inn WELCOMES COVID WITH OPEN ARMS!!! Today we were on our way to Juneau from a nearby fishing town. We booked our stay only 30 hours in advance. 24 hours before check in, at about 2:00 pm today were notified that we had been recently exposed to someone with COVID where we were previously accommodated. We felt the urgency and responsibility to call Silverbow Inn and notify them about the circumstance. The concierge specialist on the phone with me gave what seemed to be understanding and asked for my credit card information. I was assuming so that we could be refunded, as we called to inform of the exposure and hopefully cancel our reservation for the safety of the other guests and staff. When I asked what the card information was for, she THEN told me that she used it to charge me an "amenities fee" of $20. Weird as I had not authorized charges, but thought I would be receiving a partial if not full refund. Instantly my amex notified me of a $273.15 charge from Silverbow Inn. I then confronted her with my frustration of a whole new accommodation charge. She then explained that she was going to refund and "fix" the issue just for me and instead I slapped with an ADDITIONAL $222.00 charge on top of the previous one! Mind you -- I had already paid the full amount for the stay upfront. The gal then proclaimed that there would be no refund, partial refund, and to insist we utilize our stay, knowing well we had been exposed to someone who had tested positive!!! I then clearly have had enough of this poor execution from a the Silverbow Inn staff. My next request was to speak with a manger or someone in upper management immediately to rectify this avalanche of mistakes. In a soft whisper I hear " they want to speak to a manger", then the same gal after a long pause unconvincingly claims she is the "manager", hmmmm..... not so fast I called her out for exactly what I heard her whisper as she clearly thought she was being sly. (Insert SUPER AWKWARD PAUSE) Then some audible muffles as the phone gets shuffled over to whom they now claim is the " real manager"? This gal then decided to give me a whole spiel on how the previous staff member was current manager in training and that today was in fact her last day so she is a "co-manager" , in my head I can't believe that they are going to pass over the management roll to someone who clearly charges credit cards without authorization not once but TWO TIMES on top of insisting to come stay at their accommodations knowing well that we had been exposed to COVID. Moral of the story, Silverbell Inn cares about the profit of a SINGLE NIGHT reservation over the safety of it's employees and guests. The staff execution is a direct reflection of the management and do not in any way shape or form take care of guests NOR the mistakes like any other host would for the $$$ your paying for a reservation. Stay FAR AWAY FROM THE SILVERBOW INN!!!

Had started our stay at a different hotel and moved over here. So glad we did. More amenities, friendlier staff, nicer rooms, and less expensive. More attention to detail in the room and cleaner, despite being older. Creaky floor boards and thin walls, but everyone was asleep by 1, so it was pretty quiet. The foyer and wine bar just completed a renovation, and it's nice. Provided soap and lotion in dispensers, and the shower had a radio bug so you could listen to tunes. Plush - if short - robes and towels provided for the outdoor jacuzzi. Surprisingly comfortable beds, despite fluffy but insubstantial pillows. Really creative and thorough guide book for visitors suggesting four days of fun touring options. Already in the heart of downtown, and next door to the Zephyr restaurant. Very very nice. 4.5 because it's not the Park.

Best choice in our stay. Silverbow is super accomidating and the staff is awesome. You get your breakfast free from the bakery and the food is way better than anything you could get from a continental breakfast. Our room was quite quaint for the price but the upgrade aren't really that much more. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for adventure and experience from Juneau but not someone looking for luxury. The only thing I'd change would be to keep the bar open later in the night for guests so we could have somewhere other than a loud bar or our little rooms to hang out during the winter nights. They do have a hottub on a balcony too but there's an office with a guy sitting right behind it so it's sorta awkward.

Breakfast area. Note coffee grinder on right.

We especially enjoyed the common area as a gathering place for a late night snack and a breakfast bar for our "early" morning flight back to Wisconsin.

The convenience of the location simply does not outweigh the poor hospitality and lack of customer care we experienced. I normally enjoy supporting small independent businesses like this one, but this stay has made me seriously rethink where I choose to spend my money going forward. Having stayed in both luxury hotels and unique properties with character, I know that basic professionalism and genuine guest care should be standard regardless of price or style. Disliked · Upon our arrival to this property we made our way to our room only to discover it was not the Family Loft with two queen beds we had specifically booked. Instead, we were given a room with one queen bed and a pull-out couch. When I returned to the front desk, I was told the booked room was occupied by a long-term tenant and unavailable. While I understand availability issues can arise, the hotel had been in direct contact with me through the booking platform's messaging system prior to our arrival and never mentioned this problem. It appeared they chose not to inform us, likely to prevent us from canceling. The pull-out couch was in poor condition, making it impossible for our adult family member to get a decent night's sleep. The queen bed was also uncomfortable, with our feet elevated in an awkward position. The window was broken and OPEN at least 2 inches. We did not expect a luxury resort, but we did expect the room type we reserved. Most concerning was the staff's response. Rather than showing empathy or offering solutions, they became defensive, blaming the booking company and stating the room had been unavailable for weeks. Since I booked December 6th, this lack of notification wasted our time and created unnecessary inconvenience. I politely requested compensation for just one night due to the inconvenience, which I believe was more than reasonable. Unfortunately, the hotel made no effort to resolve the situation or make things right despite my several follow-ups. Prospective guests should be aware: while the location may seem convenient, the poor communication, room inaccuracies, and indifferent customer service made this a frustrating experience we would not repeat. To make matters worse, the hotel was crazy loud until 3am due to the bar adjacent to the property, making rest nearly impossible. We will be visiting Juneau several times a year in the coming years with August 2026 being our next stay, sadly we cannot support this small business.

It has zero A/C and we booked the ocean view room because we wanted a good view. However, we were not told that with no A/C that the room would be 85+ degrees inside with the fans going. It was 93 degrees when we first arrived in the room. It felt better outside than inside. We had an oscillating fan and that was it. I went down the hall and took a box fan that was being used for the stairwell and put it in our room. DO NOT STAY HERE! I don't know how this is not a safety or health hazard. Marriott should be ashamed to have this as part of their line. Also, definitely DO NOT pay $20 for the breakfast buffet. It is cold eggs, lukewarm bacon and sausage and potatoes that are like rocks.

After arriving and seeing the couch not made up we reminded the front desk that we needed the couch for one of our beds. They gave us the bedding and we had to set it up and make it ourselves. The couch was all springs without any real mattress protection, making for a very uncomfortable and disruptive night's sleep. Cleanliness, including the bathrooms, was sub-par. We didn't need to use the kitchen but if we had there weren't enough supplies to really make meals. Overall the rooms were tired and worn out. One window shade was broken. It was a warm night and there was no fan in the main bedroom, though the other two rooms had ceiling fans. Opening windows wasn't really an option as the hotel is situated at a busy street intersection, so it's pretty noisy. Windows are right on the parking lot so you need to keep the shades down most of the time. The staff was moderately helpful (see above note about couch set up) though friendly enough. Overall we'd recommend staying elsewhere.

After doing extensive research on lodging options in Juneau, I truly believe Aspen Suites Hotel…read morestands out as the best choice in the area. The location is incredibly convenient--just minutes from the Juneau International Airport and with easy access to all the main roads. Whether you're coming in for sightseeing, business, or outdoor activities, this hotel serves as a perfect hub. We drove by the Super 8 and the Wyndham Travel Lodge and each looked sketchy. Juneau doesn't have a wide selection of hotels, and Aspen Suites clearly sets itself apart. It was, by far, the cleanest and friendliest property we encountered. The rooms are well-maintained, and the staff does an excellent job keeping everything spotless. One of the big advantages is that the hotel offers air conditioning--something not all places in Juneau have, which can be a big plus during the warmer months. Also the Kitchenette allowed us to shop for food and save on "eating out". The hotel also features a large, clean, and well-equipped laundry room, which is incredibly useful if you're on an extended trip or coming back from Alaskan adventures in need of fresh clothes. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous, and while the building has three floors, there are elevators and multiple luggage carts available to make check-in and check-out smooth and efficient. If you're visiting Juneau, I highly recommend considering a suite at Aspen. The extra space and amenities make a big difference, especially after a day of exploring. Overall, this hotel delivers comfort, convenience, and great service--all at a very reasonable value.
