My salad with the dead fly on it
    Mika P.

I ordered a steak and salad. When I got my salad it had a dead fly on it. I informed the server and she took it back. When the server came back she brought me the SAME salad except the dead fly was removed. I know this because I stood the onion up on the plate before she took it and when she brought it back to me the onion was standing up in the same exact spot. I asked the server if they enjoy having repeat customers and she said "yes very much" and I said "well I won't be one of them" and I stood up and left.

I've been visiting the Silvernail Inn for years now (even when it used to be called Canyon City!) and I've always had a pleasant experience. There is plenty of seating, so you really don't have to worry about waiting for a table. In fact, I don't think I've ever had to wait to be seated. The bar area is huge and you really have a great pick of booths and tables. If you decide to visit, you absolutely have to get the chicken dumpling soup. I get a cup of it every single time I stop by. It is absolutely packed full of dumplings and has a decent amount of chicken. It is seasoned well and the bread that accompanies it is always hot with a nice crust on the outside and a fluffy inside. As far as appetizers go, you really can't go wrong with the mozzarella sticks. When I tell you these things are cheesy - THEY ARE CHEESY. I'm talking major stringy and goopy and stretchy deliciousness. The marinara sauce that comes with is also top notch, but a second little container of it would be nice. For entrées, you probably won't be disappointed with whatever you choose. If you want a salad, the Rotisserie Chicken Salad has always been a favorite in my family. The Grilled Texas Cheese is a great sandwich and goes well with any of the soups. The Sirloin Steak is also always cooked well. Both the mashed potatoes and the fries are yummy - so you won't go wrong with either of those as a side. If they have carrot cake on the menu for dessert - ORDER IT. It is moist and flavorful and the frosting is so decadent. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. The service is great, the food is great, and I love the supper club ambience.

    King Cut Prime Rib

Was looking for a new place for dinner on a Friday night. After searching around the Milwaukee area I started checking the suburbs and came across The Silvernail Inn. in Waukesha. We arrived early to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. They have a nice size bar, great for pre dinner cocktails or catching a sporting event on TV. The place was packed being prime time on a Friday night. We were able to get 2 seats at a small table in the bar area. Bartenders were professional and polite. Drinks were prepared well and reasonably priced. When it was time to dine, we were led to our table in one of two dining areas. The menu features steaks, fish, and sandwiches. They also serve prime rib but may only be on certain days of the week. We were greeted by our server Tammy. We told her it was our first time visiting the restaurant and she told us all about the menu and the fish fry options. She also pointed out the salad bar. Yes! SALAD BAR!! All meals included unlimited trips to the salad bar although I believe if you order a sandwich you are only allowed one trip. We chose the Souvlaki appetizer to start. It was a nice sized pita with delicious chunks of perfectly grilled pork garnished with onions, feta cheese, banana peppers, Pepperoncini's, Kalamata olives, and cherry peppers. We ate ever last bite. We then took a trip to the salad bar which would not be considered huge but had everything needed to build a great salad. They also had pickled items like beets, and different peppers to add to your salad. After our salads Tammy delivered our soups (clam chowder and chicken dumpling) both were piping hot and tasted great. For our entree's we both chose prime rib. A petite cut and a king cut. Ordered rare, both were cooked perfect and were well seasoned and amazingly tender. Au jus was served on the side. My wife asked for blue cheese on her petite cut. This was the only negative to the entire meal because a bit too much cheese was added for the size cut ordered. but the excess cheese was easily removed to her liking. We had garlic mashed potatoes and French fries for sides. Both were what you would expect. Service was great. Tammy kept us apprised of how our meal was progressing in the very busy dining room. The wait was reasonable for the amount of people being served. Dirty plates never sat for long on our table as every staff member who passed by helped clearing dirty dishes. We did not have room for dessert but there were several options. Pricing was right in line for the quality and quantity of food. We will certainly return in the future.

I'm not sure what to make of this place. Haven't gone until now due to its appearance of an abandoned building. Heard the prime rib was great, and it was, so had to give it a try. The exterior of this restaurant is really bad. Actually off putting. Interior seems dated but other than that, not offensive and clean. We all had prime rib or filet. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection with a lovely outside crust. The mushrooms had a perfect sear as well. Everything was delicious and our service was excellent!!! I did think the prices were quite high. This place also always seems empty, only a very few people at prime time on a Saturday night, and I assume it's due to it's shambles of an exterior and lack of any landscaping. I agree that with the high prices the tables could use some updating or at least some table cloths but I would return for the food and super friendly service.

Prime Rib Night! Nothing better than this. Saturday nights rock!

Great food and service! Always a winner! The Saturday night Prime Rib is better than any in the Milwaukee area. Ambiance is relaxed which makes it great for families and kids are entertained. A must visit!

What should have been a great dining experience for an anniversary, turned into an absolute…read moredisaster. The food was fine, minus the constant fruit flies that were buzzing all over the place. The food quality was fine, nothing that made it memorable one way or the other. However, the deep fried lobster was pretty good, I'll remember that. We ordered 3 deserts to go, and waited for the bill. What I'm assuming was a "manager" that came out, letting us know that our gift certificates were no longer valid, and it was posted on their front door. Unfortunately this was our first time to the Butler Inn, so we never saw the 8.5x11 sheet of paper stapled to an interior wall, saying that effective June 1st gift certificates are no longer valid. June 10th was our anniversary, so we had just missed the "cut off." Her suggestion was to call Louie if I knew him, who the heck is Louie. "I'm sorry, you were so close to the dead line." $200 in gift certificates with no expiration date on them, suddenly invalid. Poor business practice, poor management, and a poor example of a "super club." We won't be back, nor will I support any of the business connected to Butler Inn, whether it's the Copper Dock, The Reserve, or Sandra's on the Park. A rejected $200 gift certificate, lost you business, leaving a bad taste. Hopefully others will see this review, and think twice about supporting this business. Leah our server was great.

The ambiance and service was great - Yasbel was nice and attentive. Plenty of parking at this location and easy to get to. I did see another table got the sliders and that seems like it would at least be more filling with their brioche buns. The steak bites had a good sear and flavor but the steak sauce tasted like a sweet BBQ and not in a good way - very vanilla-y. The petite salad was maybe 2 or 3 bites - very petite indeed. The shrimp cocktail was worse - the shrimp was tough and the cocktail sauce had no seasoning. It was basically just ketchup. The price for these two items and a glass of house wine came out to $40. I'm happy I tried it out but now I know I'm not interested in the happy hour going forward.

Half of us arrived early and were warmly shown to our table, even letting us slide over to a table against the wall that felt a bit more comfortable for us until the rest of our party arrived. Tables are a bit close together so be careful when getting up, you're liable to bump into a fellow patron. Things started out well with Jeff and Nancy but he really did not seem to care for the lone woman in our party, dismissing her substitution request for the bacon on the twice-baked potato as she was vegetarian and then offering no other option. His future interactions with her were a bit gruff as well, which was just odd. She noticed that another patron appeared to have dropped something underneath their table and when she brought it to Jeff's attention, he just said, "Oh," and went over to that table, almost as if she had again asked for some unreasonable substitution to her meal. Outside of that, everything was pretty good, if definitely pricey. My steak sandwich was very juicy, and the shellfish soup was quite good, pairing well with the warm bread brought to the table. Don't bother trying to pull them apart, there's plenty for everyone in that basket! Our friends did not really care for their cauliflower steak, apparently a poor follow up to one they had at a restaurant in Madison the previous month, though the mushrooms were a big hit. The flourless chocolate cake was very rich and moist, and while we probably didn't need it, it was a great way to end the meal.

Ordered the almondine trout special and beef tenderloin. We were given last night's dark rye bread instead of the warm fresh baked white bread that usually comes with dinners. That's what we were given last time. Everyone else in the room had the thick white bread. We were given store bought white bread when I asked for the fresh bread. When we asked for the homemade bread, we were told by our server that "the menu just says bread" and we had bread. So we let it go. Note that the menu says "bakery bread". I guess all bread is baked in a bakery. But don't treat diners disparately. Not a good look. If you're out of it, just tell me and I will completely understand. Trout was okay. Veggies were a bit undercooked. The mushroom soup was okay but almost too thick to be called soup and lacked depth of flavor. Salad was good. One issue was that both soup and salad plates were covered in dark rye croutons. Many people dislike the very strong flavor of dark rye. Tenderloin was ordered medium and butterflied but was a bit tough and served slightly overcooked. Onions and mushrooms were good. Wine seemed overpriced for house wine at over $8 a glass compared with food price point. Live music started at 6:30. It was a man with electronic gear and preprogrammed music playing as he sang along. Karaoke style. No specific genre. No instruments. All different types of songs from many different eras. Might give it another try. Might not.

It took about 5 minutes for someone to show up to seat us but after that I would say the service was pretty quick. I ordered the Bacon Bleu burger which has good flavor but the bottom bun got soggy and I had to flip the burger when putting it down. I noticed my friend also did the same things so assuming his bottom bun was also soggy. The fries were pretty standard. A rather large party came in and had to wait for their table and the overflow was close to our table. One woman's hood from her jacket was close to one of our plates.. The very nice a capable waitress, Meghan, tried to push them closer to the bar and did apologize for the inconvenience . The food: - Cup of Clam Chowder which had plenty of clam, tasted good, and was a bit starchy but would certainly have it again - Almond Coated Whitefish: I am not much of a fish fan and prefer firm fish when I do order it, but thought I would give it a try. It was very tasty and well prepared with an imaginative garnish - Perch Fish Fry. My wife said it was very good with a serving of 5 filets and the usual sides. - Wine was a couple of glasses of Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc which was very good. It did not have the crispness of a New Zealand or Australian SB and was more like a very awake Chardonnay. this was our second time there in a week as we are looking for a "go-to" restaurant on Fridays. The limited menu may not allow that to happen.
