Just wrapped up a workout and was seriously craving Thai food. Lucky for me, Similan Thai is right by my gym, so I grabbed a couple dishes to go. I've had lunch there before and remembered loving their Pad Thai, so of course I ordered it again--plus some crispy garlic chicken and Thai fried rice. Everything hit the spot and tasted just as good as I remembered!

I cannot say enough nice things about this place! Finding a good Thai food restaurant on the east side of the lake is a bit tricky. Stumbled upon this spot right after thrifting across the street and have come back everytime. The service is great, they are so kind and quick. The restaurant offers a lot of seating and their little under the sea design is kind of cute. Their prices are also pretty affordable! For me if it's going to be a Thai food night, I will only be coming to similan. I've also recommended everyone I've spoken to try it. 10/10 best Thai food !

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner this past week since we were in the Issaquah area. Similan Thai Cuisine has been in Issaquah for a long time. I think the last time I had been to Similan was nearly ten years ago. The restaurant is trendy casual. The interior is pretty tight, but they can fit probably fit just under 50 people. The menu has all your classic Thai entree items including curry, noodles, rice dishes, soup, and stir- fried dishes. I ordered the PAD KHEE MAO ($15.95) with chicken and my boyfriend ordered the PAD SEE EW ($15.95) with chicken. We both got 5-stars because we like our food spicy, and it's rare that a restaurant gives us an actual 5-star dish. Service was quick and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Portions were generous in comparison to some other Thai restaurants in the area. Our waiter also came by to check-in on us and refill our waters. The PAD KHEE MAO was very good and probably around a 4 star in spiciness. I liked that it had just a tinge of sweetness and was loaded with vegetables including broccoli, onion, tomato, and green and red pepper. The noodles were also nice and wide and evenly coated with sauce. At the table, they have some chili sauce and diced jalapeños in oil which went well with the noodles. The PAD SEE EW was also decent, although for some reason, it tasted spicier than my dish even though both were 5-star dishes. It tasted slightly sweeter than my noodles, as pad see ew should be. Prices are slightly higher than other Thai restaurants in the area. The noodle dishes with chicken, pork, or vegetables at Khao San are $13.95 and the noodle dishes at Noodle Boat are $14.95. With that said, I think Khao San and Similan are my top picks. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere

A restaurant's bathroom has a lot to say about its kitchen. "Grubby" is how I found Similan's women's bathroom today. No excuse for this.

Too much for me, so I pulled some out of my piece (see pic). Might have wanted to eat the whole thing. But the peanut sauce was boring, very hoisen heavy. My other really liked everything about the Mongolian beef. He enjoyed the sauce and the different style of the dish than he was used to. He cleared his plate. I loved the flavor of the stir-fry vegetables with chicken. However, there was literally two small pieces of carrot and broccoli. The rest was a ton of cabbage with a little onion. OK if you are a cabbage fan. The biggest issue was how much sauce it was swimming in (see end of meal pic). Might give them another try.

It had delicious pho, which was great after hiking on a windy, fall day! My partner and I came here on a late Sunday afternoon, and the place wasn't too busy as there were only a few patrons dining inside since it wasn't yet peak dinner hour. We were able to be seated immediately and the server was very prompt and food was made fresh to order. My partner had pho with flank steak while I tried the lemongrass pho with the beef rib. It wasn't the easiest thing to eat, but I highly recommend trying the beef rib pho in the lemongrass broth as the meat was tender and flavorful. I just loved the lemongrass flavor so much, which makes this pho one of the best I've had around town. It's not everyday you find a lemongrass pho, so this one was a gem. Again, not easy to chow down on, as you'll likely have to use your hands to bite into this bad boy, but it's worth it. In addition to different phos, they have rice dishes, vermicelli bowls, appetizers and Vietnamese coffee. The space isn't the largest, but enough for groups to dine in. Parking is plenty as it's located in the business strip that houses REI.

The inside isn't too big but there are plenty of tables, and we waited around 15 minutes before getting seated. The poached chicken was absolutely perfect - it was so tender, soft, and juicy. I don't know how they got it that texture but it's amazing! The crispy chicken was also good, but a tad on the drier side. I also enjoyed the sauces they came with. The soup was comforting and clean and the rice was fragrant as well. The chicken was steamed beautifully, and the pieces tasted very fresh. The dish came with two kinds of sauces, and both are perfectly delicious. The rice was cooked with chicken fat and juices. It is high in calories, but it's worth it once in a while. My complaints for the place is, I wish they would offer a stir fried vegetable dish. I think veggies choices are lacking a bit on the menu. Also, I noticed their floor were extremely greasy and slippery. They put down black rugs in main walkways , but on the way to the restroom was without and I almost slip and fell. They really need a deep clean to their floor, or someone might fall for real.

Interestingly, when I ordered noodles and asked for chopsticks, they told me they didn't have any. It was quite a surprise to find an Asian restaurant serving noodles without chopsticks. As for the food, it was fine, but nothing memorable for the price. I've had better Asian food elsewhere in Seattle for less.
