Just wrapped up a workout and was seriously craving Thai food. Lucky for me, Similan Thai is right by my gym, so I grabbed a couple dishes to go. I've had lunch there before and remembered loving their Pad Thai, so of course I ordered it again--plus some crispy garlic chicken and Thai fried rice. Everything hit the spot and tasted just as good as I remembered!

I cannot say enough nice things about this place! Finding a good Thai food restaurant on the east side of the lake is a bit tricky. Stumbled upon this spot right after thrifting across the street and have come back everytime. The service is great, they are so kind and quick. The restaurant offers a lot of seating and their little under the sea design is kind of cute. Their prices are also pretty affordable! For me if it's going to be a Thai food night, I will only be coming to similan. I've also recommended everyone I've spoken to try it. 10/10 best Thai food !

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner this past week since we were in the Issaquah area. Similan Thai Cuisine has been in Issaquah for a long time. I think the last time I had been to Similan was nearly ten years ago. The restaurant is trendy casual. The interior is pretty tight, but they can fit probably fit just under 50 people. The menu has all your classic Thai entree items including curry, noodles, rice dishes, soup, and stir- fried dishes. I ordered the PAD KHEE MAO ($15.95) with chicken and my boyfriend ordered the PAD SEE EW ($15.95) with chicken. We both got 5-stars because we like our food spicy, and it's rare that a restaurant gives us an actual 5-star dish. Service was quick and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Portions were generous in comparison to some other Thai restaurants in the area. Our waiter also came by to check-in on us and refill our waters. The PAD KHEE MAO was very good and probably around a 4 star in spiciness. I liked that it had just a tinge of sweetness and was loaded with vegetables including broccoli, onion, tomato, and green and red pepper. The noodles were also nice and wide and evenly coated with sauce. At the table, they have some chili sauce and diced jalapeños in oil which went well with the noodles. The PAD SEE EW was also decent, although for some reason, it tasted spicier than my dish even though both were 5-star dishes. It tasted slightly sweeter than my noodles, as pad see ew should be. Prices are slightly higher than other Thai restaurants in the area. The noodle dishes with chicken, pork, or vegetables at Khao San are $13.95 and the noodle dishes at Noodle Boat are $14.95. With that said, I think Khao San and Similan are my top picks. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere

A restaurant's bathroom has a lot to say about its kitchen. "Grubby" is how I found Similan's women's bathroom today. No excuse for this.

A nice small restaurant with good amount of options to choose from the menu. The staff were super friendly and polite. We can smell the foods being cook in the back; making our appetite even stronger. What we got: Pad Thai w/ tofu (5/5) We asked for "thai spicy" and it delivered! Super spicy BUT it retains all the other plavors; it was the perfect pad thai for us. We were crying by how spicy it was; but it was so good. Totally Garlic Crispy Chicken (5/5) Hands down one the best garlic chicken. Its crunchy, saucy, garlicy and we asked for "thai spicy" as well; and its still soooo sooo flavorlfull even with the amount of chili. Iced thai coffee and iced thai tea (4/5) Great drinks and not as sweet as other thai restaurants. It was delicious Tom Yum Soup (4/5) Great soup; not mind blowing good; but it was delicious regardless; (might got overshadow by how good the other dishes were) Overall We will be back for sure and try their other offering. And i would recommend this place to everyone. As long they stay consistent; we will go back everytime we crave thai foods.

I recently enjoyed a happy hour at the Redmond location, with an excellent dish of Pad Thai with a very dense sauce that most other Thai restaurants in the area would do well to emulate. This was followed by a full dinner at the Issaquah Highlands location. The selection and quality of food were on par with the best local Thai restaurants, and the hardbound menus with photos of all the offerings are a particularly nice touch. Another very nice and professional touch was that the waitress who took our order repeated the order so that we could confirm it was exactly right. If you like spicy food, don't hesitate to be aggressive with the spice numbers, or to ask for a side of hot sauce. I could easily have lived with more than the three out of five stars that I ordered, but now I know for next time. I am very enthusiastic about this enterprise and wish I could express my unqualified approval. Unfortunately, there was one thing that prevented me from giving five stars, and that is that most of the food was flat out cold. I do not know what the solution is, but it is an issue that we have not encountered at other Thai restaurants, so we know it can be managed. Perhaps it would be with less aggressive air conditioning, serving dishware that better retains the heat, or something else. It was exacerbated by the way everything we ordered was brought out pretty much all at once. This should not have happened. The entrees should not have been brought out until we were finished with the appetizers. They would have tasted so much better if they had been hot enough. I addressed this issue with one of the wait staff and was given some kind of explanation having to do with heat lamps in connection with the food needing to be all ready at once. This is not acceptable. I sincerely hope that the restaurant will address this issue. We took most of our food home for later consumption, and of course it won't be a problem when we can heat it at home ourselves, but it had me less enthusiastic than I wanted to be about returning for on site dining. In sum, very, very good, but it could have been excellent. Please watch the timing of serving sequences and ensure that the dishes are hot before they are brought to the table. I hope to be able to revise my review to give five stars next time!

Chicken Teriyaki is grilled but very moist. The chicken is high quality... thick, juicy, and not overly seasoned (many places are way too salty). It is my favorite in the greater Seattle area. He also makes yummy Chicken Katsu. The oil is never old because the panko is always a golden brown. You can get a combo plate--one fillet of Katsu and another Teriyaki--for $16.99 (which is a great price for the amount of food and the quality). 2/SERVICE. Dine-in service is prompt even though it is just him. He is always filling up your water and checking in on if the food is tasty. When it gets busy, however, he is the only person working at times.
