I haven't always had good dinners or brunches here, but to be fair, it's been over many years and many dinners going all the way back to Simm's Landing. For that I would give 4 stars overall. However, this is about my wedding. My husband and I got married on February 2 of this year. It was a beautifully snowy week night and we have zero regrets. First of all, Mark was amazing every step of the way. He was always available to answer ridiculous questions and he allowed us to prepare our table cloths and measure table during "off" hours. The night before the wedding, he allowed us to come in and set up the tables. I cannot say enough good things about Mark. He's truly a gem! Thank you Mark for all you did for my mother and I. You have our deepest gratitude! The view was blissfully amazing! There was a light snowfall, the fireplace was going, the lights were low, and the music was romantic. It all was so amazing and, well, dreamy. The food was amazing. One person complained, but that person is often difficult to please. Everyone else thought the food was amazing. The steak, I was told, was tender and tasty. The salmon with the lump crab, which is had, was so delicious! I don't know that anyone had the risotto or the chicken, but my mother and father had them previously and loved them. We had asked for the extra side of Brussel sprouts, but we did not get them until after dinner was mostly eaten. Some people had them, and those that did reported they were very good. The serving staff were all kind to myself, my husband, my family, and my guests. They were quick, funny, and compassionate. I really hope they enjoyed the evening, despite serving a wedding party. Thank you, to each and everyone of you. To the man who helped my husband and I get to the room, to those that served the large dinner party, and to the head waitress who was so personable and helpful, thank you, with all our hearts! My only complaint, though the complaint was not mine, as I couldn't tell it was cold outside let alone in the room, but many people thought the room was too cold. Wow! I was majorly impressed by how good our meal turned out! From the moment we parked our car, it's been an unforgettable experience. The walk up to the restaurant, the landscaping surrounding the restaurant, the layout of the restaurant, and the view looking out from the restaurant were all incredible! The dinner rolls were everybody's favorite, served hot with a side of whipped honey butter, mmmmm. Calamari was a standard and so was my Mahi Mahi with jumbo lump crab. But my husband's prime rib was phenomenal! We joked that it's only second to our friend's (whose birthday we were celebrating at this meal) garlic infused roasted prime rib. That actually means a lot! But the absolute best part was the dessert. So glad I got the banana cake which I call The Elvis! It's got chocolate ganache and bacon and peanut bits that balanced out the light sweetness of the cake so well! We had to order it to go and to be so pleased by it at home says a lot. This review is for their weekend brunch buffet. First of all, as far as service, Olivia gave PERFECT service and helped elevate our experience. The usual suspects for breakfast were all there and delicious. The prime rib was better than most other prime ribs I have had at buffets. I had about 12 deviled eggs, and they were great. The omelet station was stellar. Now, the desserts are what really got me. The brownie, fondue station, and cinamon rolls were fantastic. The beautiful view of the city adds to your dining experience. And, the best thing is that bottomless mimosas were INCLUDED in the meal cost. My only two hits were the subpar crab (perhaps we hit a bad day) and the fact that they didn't have signs for any of the food, but those aren't enough to bring it down to four stars. I called for a table for 5, in 2.5 hours. Can't be added to the list by Mark. Walk in only. Called another high end steak and seafood restaurant, at Colfax and Denver West Blvd. They were able to get me a table reserved. The view isn't worth anything if you treat a five top like it's an inconvenience. Same high quality food between the two but I'll take my money and friends elsewhere. Update: Mark called me back to explain they had 15 ppl table and 17 ppl table reservation. I appreciate the situation and will try Simms again. Added 1 star. read more

Pretty fancy, with fabulous views. The food was subpar for the price. The calamari was covered in oil and very overcooked. Not recommended. The iceberg wedge was decent, although I thought it had too much cheese and dressing. nothing spectacular. My filet mignon was a hit, cooked to perfection, medium, tender inside and delicious. That was the only good part of the meal. My potatoes au gratin were RAW in some parts, and it was soupy, cheese milk mix. very disappointed. Elliott really made our evening delightful. The service he provided was top-notch. He made recommendations that gave us a delicious meal while saving us money. While Simm's can be pricey, the food was worth every penny. We shared oysters Rockefeller with a couple of signature cocktails that were quite unique. We asked for a table by the windows which they accommodated without question. Tom had the French Onion soup & I had the chopped salad which really was large enough to share. The vinaigrette was delicious. Our prime rib was perfectly cooked & came with haricot vert-also perfectly cooked & flavorful. After an appetizer & large salad I could only eat half, so lunch tomorrow too! I really can't praise Elliott enough. Superior service is rare these days. One is lucky if the waiter condescends to smile at you. Elliott is engaging, informative, & seems to enjoy his occupation. That is what you charge for a colossal not a MEDIUM THE SIZE OF MY HAND!? What a Christmas Eve disappointment!!!! Wow! Every year we come here for a special Christmas Eve dinner. We usually enjoy fabulous service and delicious food. For the first time we were offered buffet On Christmas Eve?!?! Seriously?!?! Nothing listed in the Popular Dishes was offered. Well, cold Lobster bisque without lobster pieces was there. Everything was cold and just plain boring. We felt so bad for our waiter, who kept apologizing. Two stars for ambience and our waiter. Went here for anniversary, my wife and I. What a beautiful place to have a restaurant. Beautiful crisp white linens, glassware to the max, very well dressed staff of people and very good at their profession. The absolute worst piece of prime rib that could ever be put on a plate was served to my wife, neither of us could cut it and I'm a fairly big man, I really would have thought the servers would have rescued the meal at that point as they watched us sawing into that truly terrible piece of overpriced meat After taking one bite my partial fell out and worst of all there was not one bit of taste. A waiter eventually came by when we put her food aside and told him the story, I believe he was watching and said he would show the "manage". Our great waitress came by and apologized An old tennis shoe would have been better than that piece of meat, both salads very mediocre not nearly enough dressing and very disappointing. The "manager" came by with or waitress and two other servers and offered us a gracious apology and told us they would comp the meal even the undercooked potato. The wine was little more than a shot glass, they failed, to comp that. Something we will not forget soon came next in this adventure was my wife's plate of badly cooked, uneaten prime rib sitting in a bus tray in the hallway for anyone to see walking by from anywhere close to the entrance. That piece of meat whoever cooked it and perhaps the "manager" should have been removed from the restaurant immediately never to have anyone actually SEE it. On our way out the door a man at the bar also eating prime rib told the bartender he could not cut his piece of meat also was very unhappy and vocal about it. I had some fish Bass, very small portion and quite well done taste wise. When leaving we did take very good care of our fine waitress and the parking guy and ended up spending $135.00. The bread was very good and their butter spread also. As their compensation also a piece of cake was given. The food should be to perfection in this spectacular location, but there are serious problems internally in this restaurant to let this kind of a meal get to a customer. This place has an incredible view and ambiance. Unfortunately, the food and the service don't necessarily live up to the visuals. My wife and I went for a dinner date. We arrived early so we had a drink at the bar. As a bartender, I was surprised to see the drinks were being built above the ice bin. I watched as splatter from the cocktails continually flew into the ice. I decided to order a whiskey neat after I saw that. Once we were seated it took a while for a waiter to come by our table. Apparently, people from corporate were there and that was slowing some things down we were eventually told. When our food came out there were a few issues. I had requested the scallops to compliment my NY strip steak. They were all different sizes, ranging from what I would consider standard size to very small, leaving me feeling jipped on the portion. The creamed spinach was so undercooked that there was a giant blob of cream cheese in it. Finally, my wife's filet mignon was ordered medium rare and came out medium well. We sent that steak and the spinach back. The spinach came back and was better but her new filet was misshapen and rare. All in all the dinner was fine, but it didn't feel like a $200 meal or experience. I don't think we'll be back, which is a shame because it really does look wonderful. read more

We had high hopes but were really disappointed. First, the service was horrible! Long wait for for drinks, bread, etc. Second, the appetizers were good, carpaccio and calamari , but took a while to get. Third, we all order steaks Medium Rare and the all came out Medium. But the main issue was the overall quality. Tough and a bit dry. I eat at alot of steakhouses and it is easy to distinguish between Prime and Choice beef quality. Their steaks are just lower quality. We have done Simms for brunch a couple of times, enjoying the stunning views each visit. However, my recent dinner experience on 4/21 left much to be desired. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. My waiter even confirmed my internal temperature preference and mouth feel before leaving our table. The steak arrived literally gray inside with ZERO pink. This wasn't medium, medium well, it was completely well done. The company with I was with made it awkward to say anything while there, but I'm hoping somebody will contact me to discuss this. While the ambiance and views have been fantastic for brunch, I was hoping a place with Steak in its name would deliver. The inconsistency in food preparation earned Simms Steak House a 2/5 star rating from me. read more

Absolutely wonderful! We were on our way to Breckenridge and the interstate was closed due to a blizzard. We ended up having to stay in Golden right next to this restaurant. My first time here. The only reason for the 4 is the service seemed very drawn out once we sat down. Once we sat, we didn't get the bread for 20 minutes. I think it's part of their dining experience, as everything was piping hot and very well done, we were just there over 2 hours which felt too long. We went on a Friday evening at 730 because they took a reservation for 5. I got the artisan cheese plate which was really delicious, and the lobster bisque for my meal which was also really good. My boyfriend got a crab cake to start which was really good, and prime rib with a loaded baked potato for his entree. Others at the table ordered the salmon, scallops, and steak with broccolini. Everyone completely wiped their plates, everything was delicious. Taylor was our server and did a wonderful job. I probably wouldn't go back unless I was celebrating a special occasion / was fine with being there for such a long time, or because I need to go somewhere that takes reservations. read more

We've been here a couple times and the food has always been ok, my general opinion had always been that it was over rated. Not this visit. Hubby and I and our peeps went for restaurant week, so there is a limited menu for a decent price, but we always spend more because of alcohol. LOL! Hubby and I went early to have apps and drinks. He was drinking his usual dirty martini and I tried the Blood Orange Zinger. It was refreshing but not too sweet. Unfortunately I like too sweet so it was a little bit of a bummer, but it was light so I didn't feel like I was feeling up on juice and it was on the Social Hour menu so it was only $6. Great deal! We also tried the Chips & Strings ($5) and the Prime Rib Bruschetta ($6) from the Social Menu. The strings were a little greasy, but the chips were really good. The ketchup they served with it was really tasty. The prime rib bruchetta was really good. Three crostini slices with shaved prime rib, and pickled onions and is served with a side of au jus. Hubby and I LOVED it. For dinner I had the Classic Caesar salad, Steak Au Poivre (added Bacon Butter Blue Cheese for $5), and the Turtle Cheesecake. Everything was good. The salad was nicely dressed and had a decent amount of cheese an croutons. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. And the cheesecake was very rich and creamy. It was a really good meal for $45 and was a lot better that I had remembered. My sister in-law ordered a side of creamed corn, which normally I am not a fan of, but this one was supper good. It was creamy and chunky and had just a really good flavor. It was almost like a really thick corn chowder. Maybe that's what creamed corn really is...I don't know...like I said, I'm not really a fan! LOL! A friend and I went here last night for dinner and we thought we were going to have a fabulous dinner. We ordered the 16 oz ribeye and the Alaskan king crab. The steak looked fabulous and seemed tender but it was full of fat and gristle. The butter warmer kept going out and the butter wasn't really hot to start with. The Alaskan king crab was displayed nicely cut in half and they had put some sort of seasoning over it which we thought was odd. Worst part of all was that the crab was cold and frozen in parts so bad that you couldn't hardly get a fork through it. We should have sent it back! Our appetizer was the muscles and it had bacon in it with big chunks of what must have been bacon fat. We also had a Cosmo and a lemon drop martini and neither were that great. Our bill was over $200 for two people so with a tip it was $130 each. The money wouldn't have been so bad if the food would have been worth it. I will never go back here for dinner. Maybe for cocktails and the cool view of downtown. read more

We came to SIMM's for brunch. The food was mediocre, at best. The service, barely better. Yes, it does have a great view but it isn't worth the price, the laziness of the staff. We bussed some of our own plates off our table onto the tray full of dirty dishes multiple times. There weren't plates for the buffet twice. We finally had to stop someone to find plates. I waited at the prime rib carving station a good 10 minutes for someone from the kitchen to peek out and ask me if I wanted some. The smoked salmon, deviled eggs and salad aren't on ice. The syrup for waffles and pancakes has a film on it. Might I add, there are absolutely no place cards saying what anything is in the chafing dishes so you have to open every single dish and some of it, you don't even know when you open it. Brown meat stew? No idea. We couldn't get ketchup, nor hot sauce for potatoes and eggs because we barely saw our server from the time she took a drink order till she handed us the $500 bill. Disappointing all the way around. Would not recommend it nor would I come back for brunch. read more

Atmosphere is beautiful, however the food was disappointing. We had a large party. 20 people and all the food was cold, service was slow. One server for the entire table so anyone that needed anything had to go get it themselves or didn't get it at all. I was not very impressed. also the portions are tiny for what you are paying for a meal. My husband had a fly underneath his roll. It was still squirming on the plate. We showed the server and he tried to kill it on our table like what!!!! We were all grossed out for our actual meal. Overall disappointed and not satisfied. Overpriced!!!!
