I stopped by here for something to drink on my way back from attempting (and failing) to visit Fairfax. The shop was really cute, with the menus hand written in chalk. Very classic American diner meets country farmer's market vibes. The menu was huge, with every flavor of soda imaginable. There were also options to add alcohol. The barista was very friendly, although she did seem a little peeved by my having no idea how to order. I explained that I'd never been to a soda shop before. I'd actually been expecting something more like a gift shop full of bottles of soda, versus an actual soda and drink bar. I asked her if she could just do like a cream soda. She said I could pick any flavor, and then she could add cream or not. In retrospect, I wanted vanilla. But, I also wanted to try something a little different, so I ordered almond. If I could do it over, I think I would do half and half, but sugar free. The flavor was good, but the sweetness was overpowering, and left me feeling even more thirsty. It was about six dollars for a sixteen ounce, which does seem kinda high for that amount of ice, syrup, carbonated water, and cream. However, I also felt really bad for the girl, as she mentioned that business had tanked since the closure of the Fairfax and Enumclaw bridges. Came by on a Saturday afternoon to try out some natural homemade soda and eat lunch. You know it is natural when you have had two sodas and you still dont have a lingering headache. Plus looking into their ingredients, there are no random preservatives. You can try their various soda flavors or try it in one of their specialty cocktails as well. It was too early in the day for us to have any, but from overhearing from people around us, they loved the added pinch of sweetness. Notes to add: dogs are definitely welcome here! There is also a mini playset out back for kids to play. Overall, we will definitely come back here again. We even came home with some that they had in stock and will come back before the holidays to restock ourselves. this place has you covered for if you're coming back from some day or overnight activity. very cute area to the side and in back (that apparently has live music at times) with games like corn hole, etc if you haven't expended every ounce of energy climbing, biking, hiking or wandering in the woods. my only problem is that the menu posted on the wall is extensive and i found it hard to follow because i overheard people ahead of us ordering cherry coke slushies when i couldn't find them on the menu on the wall--yes, the machine is very obvious and right behind the register but it makes for some confusions d discrepancy when you're hungry and thirsty and one track minded, trying to decide between options. if you're in the market for ice cream and have been thinking about it since halfway back to the trailhead, they have about 8-10 flavors and many ways to deliver it to you: scoops, shakes, floats, malts!!! there are other food items, a bevy of beverages, alcoholic and not, and some local merch for sale. wilkeson is doing a great job of reminding us all to remember it, as the sign says when you leave town, based on the food options found within. read more

A client of mine told me about the Soda Shop and naturally after a quick Google search - I knew I had to make the short drive to the cozy, cute town of Wilkeson. Myself and a couple of my favorite humans checked the place out on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Deceiving from the store front - the "shop" offers a wide variety of seating options in a very spacious, small town Americana styled space. The staff was wonderfully helpful, patient, and personable. The food was flavorful, fresh, and hit the spot. My husband and I don't really drink alcohol, but agreed we could get toasted ordering back to back Apple Pie Collins cocktails. So delicious! Also, they have black licorice ice cream. If you can get in here before they close for the season on December 18th, you'll only want to return again. Check this place out! read more

It's cute that's for sure. My cocktail was very gross and was supposed to have sugar on the rim but instead they put salt. I was excited to try this place I was even telling my coworkers about it. Me and my coworker went on separate occasions with our own individual families and both had the same very unwelcoming experience. I wish they were as friendly as I heard. We must have hit a bad day for trying this out-of-the-way place. Or maybe our expectations were too high. The food: The paninis were greasy. Yes, I know they are grilled, but between the buttered bread and cheese, it was too much. The Venise lacked flavor - it was a more like a generic grilled cheese and we couldn't taste the pesto or tomato jam additions. I had to open my sandwich up to even see if it had tomato jam inside. The Cuban wasn't anything special - just a nondescript panini with little spice or flavor. The Mac and cheese had red pepper flakes or something similar which wasn't a hit with the kids. The sodas were way too sweet and it was hard to differentiate the flavors in the soda flight we ordered. The service: Slow. The order line was slow. Once they bring your food out to you, there isn't any other service. You need to get your own water and bus your own table. However, you are reminded to tip 3 times! There is a giant tip jar on the counter, the iPad card charger gives you the preset options of tipping 18%, 20%, and 22% (all for no table service), and a sign on the wall that says. "No skipping the tipping." I found that very off-putting. The ambiance: We enjoyed eating out back in the gravel courtyard. It was a pleasant day and we didn't encounter any bugs or yellowjackets. This is such a cute place to relax with a delicious cocktail, sandwich, or ice cream! They make the BEST margaritas!! My 6 year old absolutely loved the grilled cheese sandwich and fresh squeezed lemonade. They even have a cute chalkboard on the wall for kiddos to draw on. My family has lived in Wilkeson for generations so it's so nice to see Venise and Belinda keep one of Wilkeson's historic buildings alive! My husband and I love this place! We discovered them during COVID when they were delivering cocktail kits our neighborhood. This place is owned by two sisters, Venice & Belinda, a gardener and a bartender. These two together create amazing things! They make the best syrups, my favorite is the huckleberry spruce and the rhubarb vanilla bean. And they pair great with cocktails, ice cream, waffles, etc. Once we heard that they were going to open a family friendly bar nearby..we knew we had to go! And they did not disappoint, we love everything we had. I crave for their cornbread waffles, which they currently no longer have anymore...but I hope they bring it back soon! I highly recommend the Belinda's panini, we always get two orders plus a third one to bring home. Trust me, you wouldn't want to share so get your own!! Their meat and cheese boards are delicious as well, they change it up all the time. If you're feeling bold, I highly recommend the hot saw shots, there's three shots. The first one is bourbon followed by their spicy bread & butter pickle juice and last one is their buzz button infused vodka . The Simple Goodness Sisters have a syrup line that lends itself to "mocktails" for the designated driver and cocktails for the rest of us! I had an Old Fashioned that was deliciously sweet while packing a subtle punch. My husband had a Hot Apple Cider that was winterwarm and wonderful. Their panini sandwiches feature some interesting combos that are scrumptious. I had the Venise which is a tomato jam and cheddar. I wasn't expecting a lot, but it was incredibly tasty. The intense tomato flavor in the jam sang through the cheese, which was ooey-gooey and plentiful. All pressed panini style, yet the bread was crisp and crunchy and not a bit soggy like so many paninis can be. This is a fun stop in the cute little town of Wilkeson, which is on the way to Carbonato, which is on the way to Lake Mowich, WA. If you're looking for a nice drive in the country, through tree lined mountain lanes, this makes a nice destination for a lunch stop, a creamy treat, or even picking up an interesting gift for a friend, hostess, or yourself.
