I've been here twice. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Lunch was superb. Breakfast was just okay. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't worth the price, which is different than advertised online. The workers were very sweet. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got the breakfast croissant. It needed more seasoning.
Great food and great service. I love the outdoor seating. The staff were all very nice. The bakery case had so many delicious options it was hard to decide. Everything was very good. Highly recommend
Passing through town and decided to pit stop here. Their bakery items are really good. I got the cinnamon roll and would recommend. The sticky carmalized bottom and delicious frosting on top was delicious. I also wanted to try their chicken apple sausage and ordered a side. It was decent, I think the baked good was much better though and I'd probably come back to try more pastries and baked goods in the future personally. This is a casual place so you order at the front of the restaurant and then pay in the back. Prices are very reasonable all around across the menu. Plenty of tables but can get busy! Worth checking out if you're in the downtown area.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this place. It's one of those spots where you order and pay first, then sit down and they bring the food to you. I guess I'm just not used to that setup, so it threw me off a bit at first. That being said... the food was actually really good. I got the croissant breakfast sandwich with potatoes, and I loved it. The croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery, which made the whole sandwich even better. My sister ordered a strawberry croissant, and when I tell you it was the best strawberry croissant I've ever had, I am not exaggerating. That croissant personally attacked me with how good it was. Like I wasn't prepared emotionally. For drinks, the orange juice was delicious, but the espresso and iced vanilla latte were a letdown -- my sister and cousin were not impressed at all. The restaurant itself is really cute. They have two all-gender restrooms and an outdoor seating area, which makes sense with their order-first setup. The overall vibe was super chill and peaceful, which I did enjoy.
The server saw we were confused when we first walked in and he was very nice and taught us how it works. Order and then sit The strawberry croissant was honestly one of the best things I've ever tasted. The custard was incredible--super smooth and rich--and the strawberries were perfectly sweet. I shared it with the table and everyone loved it. I also had the spinach and bacon omelette, which was very tasty. The provolone cheese was perfectly gooey, the bacon inside was flavorful, and the potatoes on the side were seasoned just right. The fresh-squeezed orange juice definitely tasted fresh--you can tell right away. It was super refreshing and honestly immaculate. The only downside was my espresso oat milk latte. I ordered it iced, but it came out hot. I didn't say anything since I just needed the caffeine, but the taste itself was a bit underwhelming. Overall, the food was amazing and I'd definitely come back--just double-check your drink order!
5 stars for always being consistent and delicious. I mainly visit on Saturdays for lunch and it can be busy but the staff is pretty efficient and gets orders out quick. Honestly, the line is mainly due to the customers taking their sweet time while ordering. You might have a hard time finding a table to sit at inside, but they also have outside seating. Price-wise you'll probably spend around $15-$20 per person. I highly recommend their grilled chicken sandwhich. It comes with grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato, all on a toasted sourdough bread covered with pesto and cheese. For the side I typically get the Italian pasta salad, which is always delicious. One thing about this sandwhich is that the chicken will never cover the entire bread and it will never be distributed evenly. So you will always have one half that has less chicken and ends up being part veggie pesto sandwhich, which is still worth it. The other favorite is a turkey club sandwhich on a croissant. It's basic, but also very tasty. They also carry a variety of pastries and serve Klatch coffee (brewed coffee) if you need a sweet treat afterward.
I've been wanting to try this sandwich spot for awhile and glad I did! Came for lunch on a Saturday around noon and the place was a bit busy but had only a short line, I opted for the pastrami sandwich and the no way Jose sandwich and enjoyed both of them! Each sandwich was $16 and comes with a side like potato salad or mixed fruit. The pastrami sandwich was perfect! A good sized sandwich with delicious pastrami and they do their bread really well. It was the right mix of soft, buttery, and crispy and the Dijon sauce that came with it was good too. As for the sides, I'd recommend the mixed fruit, which came with a lot of variety and was really refreshing. The sandwich is a bit pricey but it can easily be shared with another person. Service was solid and the restaurant was clean and had a classic homey feel. This is a great lunch option in downtown!
Good food, clean establishment, quick service. Very packed when we came in, a lot of local shops were closed that day so I'm sure this was one reason, I believe the other is because the food and drinks are delicious. Customer service though made you feel like you were bothering them, just the lady up front taking the order and the older man who ignored us when we wanted to ask a question. The young man who you payed with was nice. I wish they had more juices available or had the ability to make them there because I was craving that pineapple juice something fierce. Otherwise the location is great, tons of table options, and the food was good, prices match location so a bit on the higher end.
It's located in a cute little area in Riverside among several other restaurants and retail shops. Inside, the restaurant has an older style look with tall wooden booths and a lot of dark wood overall. Order at the counter and shimmy down to make your way to the cashier at the other end. Everyone we encountered was friendly, despite some of the other reviews I saw. I ordered one of the breakfast croissant sandwiches and it was delicious. Some reviewers mentioned small portions. I don't know what they ordered, but this was not at all small in my opinion (not sure if my picture will do it justice). All four of us in my group were happy with our orders (another breakfast sandwich, eggs their way and an omelet) and bought oatmeal raisin cookies for the road. They were tasty and probably would have been even better warm. I also had a mocha and it was delightful! I did think it was silly that the gentleman in front of us who wanted to place a large order for lunch was made to come back after 11:00a to place his order. Why not take it and make the food when he needed it? That sounds like a better plan for everyone, but who am I?
Just across from Our hotel. A busy place with Basic decor inside. Welcoming and inviting. Walk up to the counter and order your items. Very well organized chef system and ensuring you get your food quickly. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and he the American breakfast. My sandwich was huge and could only finish half. Potato's were so good with a nice crispy crunch. I boxed it up and gave it to a homeless person - since we were visiting. His was very good as well- it was all gone. We will return!
As a first time visitor, this DTR spot seems tried & true. I tried it first one afternoon when looking for something sweet. I bought a gorgeous raspberry croissant and a molasses cookie for the next day. Both were what you'd hope and more - the croissant both crisp with the creamiest custard, the cookie crisp, spicy, and chewy - the flavors were full, elevated. It was so tasty, on the last day of my trip I went again to try breakfast. Everything I saw on others' plates said "sign me up!" I have to eat a certain way so I got a simple bagel with scrambled eggs. Both were delicious. The poppy bagel was different from typical east-coast style bagels. This was larger, puffier. Nice and crusty on the outside, light and fluffy in the inside, but held up to the cream cheese. The brick interior is both historic and hip. You stand in line first to order, you find your seat, they bring the food to you. The lines were never-ending on the Saturday I went (9a-10a) - they kept coming but they also kept moving. I had doubts I'd find a seat, but lucked out. At other times I looked up and saw open tables, so they turned over well. The service was above average but not ka-pow. There were no gluten-free options of any baked items - so if I bring my spouse next time, they could only watch ME have yummy pastries, french toast but not enjoy any themselves. not the best food experience to share. Those are the reasons I didn't give 5-stars. It was not bad but not above and beyond either. Not complaints, just facts. The team worked well togetherbehind the counters; everything was served hot and timely. I will definitely return on my next trip to splurge on the french toast. It looked just like my mom used to make. Definitely try Simple Simon's.

Service is terrible! Paid $60 for a breakfast sandwich, two egg breakfast, hot chocolate and latte that never came out. By the time we were done eating I asked for a refund on the latte which was given cash. Sandwich was good and pie never came out as well not until we asked a server walking by and he mentioned to go check at the front. Place is over priced for service and presentation. Some of the food items are given in paper plates and coffee and hot chocolate is self serve. Pie was basic after we went to look for it. In no moment were we advised we would have to pick up in the front. I don't understand what's the point of getting a number if we pick up some of the items ordered. read more
This is the best little cafe and a great stop after touring the Mission Inn! They have incredible sandwiches and I found out it's because they bake their own bread. They have a great selection of desserts to choose from- I LOVED their peanut butter cookie! I ordered a roast beef sandwich and it was magnificent along with the chili. What a great vibe for a downtown Inland Empire restaurant: old school dark wood interior with bench seating, outdoor/pedestrian seating and the service line hustle of the older bigger city taverns. When you enter, you'll should grab a paper menu and figure out your order while standing in line. You'll order and then pay, and find a seat for dining. This is a popular place expect the hustle and noisy vibe of enthusiastic diners. Arriving early for lunch we found a great window, corner booth. We had a half of a Classic Turkey Sandwich. As you can see from my pic, the fruit was quite fresh and vibrant. Our choice of wheat bread was standard and you can see the lettuce was crisp. The turkey breast meat was thinly sliced, plentiful and tasty. It was a simple and okay sandwich. Wishing to shave a few calories, we had 2 versions of the Deluxe Vegetarian Black Bean Chili. The first, see pic, is a simple cup of the Black Bean Chili. As you can see the cup is a combination of black beans and a broth of pureed black beans. There wasn't much in the way of chili flavoring. The full bowl of black bean chili is far more exciting with its abundance of toppings and colors, see my pic (we had the avocado on the side). This enhances the bowl tremendously! This was a good example where more is really more: while the black bean chili was consistent but there were endless varieties of flavor combinations! In the past we have loved their full flavored (and calorie) sandwiches and is an annual go-to when our family comes in from out of town. read more

Quaint breakfast spot in the heart of Riverside. Next to Mission Inn. Bakery items looked delicious, and food is made to order. You order first at the front counter, head down to register pay, and take your seat. Line was almost out the door when I arrived. We had breakfast this morning. Lots of customers were waiting in a line. All are self service from the order to have drinks except the foods. No more coffee at the time when I filled my coffee! No way! Wait more than 10 mins to have a fresh brewed coffee. This is not o.k. And also, they charged the credit card surcharge 3%. This is not o.k. for me. I don't get why the Yelp gave here 4 stars. The foods are not great either. My crepes are not real French style, just too much nutella w bananas and strawberries. My hubby was waiting for his toasted sourdough bread about 15 mins. The service is terrible. They forgot to serve the bread w eggs, bacon. We didn't like this café at all. Too many people came for the breakfast and no coffee, no bread to serve. That is why we both gave 2 stars. read more

Their signage was not the easiest to spot and the parking is a nightmare. Their food on the other hand was delicious. They had a limited selection of menu items and their ordering system was the opposite of simple. The staff was friendly so it made up for their lack of flow which made ordering really stressful. Took a chance on this place, meaning no review check before walking in, and yay, what a find! Ordered two sandwiches... Veggie croissant...loads of veggies and cheese. If you're not a mayo person, be sure to let them know or you may not be a fan. Vegan on sourdough with pesto. Very good. Love that the two sandwiches have a distinct flavor. Too many times, vegetarian offerings taste alike. Go here! We're here for the Christmas lights in downtown and this eatery hit the spot read more

We love coming here for Saturday brunch. There is always a line but don't be discouraged because they move quickly. Prices are the best in the area for brunch. It's a no frills type of place, but their food is great. They make their baked goods from scratch. We've had their Winter omelet (with gorgonzola cheese, roasted pecans, sautéed apples and grilled onions). It was OK but their best brunch dish is their Breakfast Croissant Club (comes with their homemade chicken apple sausage and two eggs, cheese, avocado, tomato, and mayo) and served with home fries. The line/wait here is insane. They take forever just to get through the line for people to place an order.. I mean we're talking 20 minutes just to take your order. Crazy thing, you can order online but only lunch.. they coukd avoid this headache with orders online for breakfast. I can't pinpoint the failure here. It was time to try their Lunch Menu now, unfortunately I didn't get to go to the restaurant this time for it was cold and raining today. However they have a great delivery service i was so excited about because that meant I didn't have to choose elsewhere when this place is EVERYTHING! I ordered their Specialty Sandwich "Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast with a choice side of pasta salad! Once again I found myself repeatedly saying and eating "OH WOW! Mmm OH MY GOODNESS!!" This is a casual diner on Main St that I am somewhat hesitant on recommending to new customers. The ambiance is cozy, rustic and bakery-esque, but nothing really drew me in, aside from the decent amount of Yelp reviews. They weren't offering the lunch menu at their listed time (past 10:30), so I ordered two eggs sunny side up for $11, and subbed my potatoes for fruit instead. Alongside my choice of rye toast and butter, it was definitely a decently filling breakfast after a long midterm and I was somewhat satisfied. We had also ordered vegetarian and chicken sausage omelettes, which were hefty and came with their own ample sides of potatoes and toast as well. Please do not order the coffee or coffee beverages here. With such a simple selection you'd think they'd have refined the options but the hot latte was acidic and had the worst aftertaste. The iced latte had the same taste. My friend had also mentioned the orange slices tasted of Dawn dish soap. Overall, I would not say this is a return-worthy breakfast spot, but I have no opinion on their lunches as I wasn't able to order what I wanted. Although this place does live up to their name serving simple breakfast classics in addition to their sandwiches looking competitive, stick with Arcade Coffee or a local roaster if you're looking for a caffeine fix. This is an old fashion looking breakfast and lunch eatery. The gigantic Susie Salad was super fresh and came with a delicious creamy dressing and oil on the side. I would have like a little bit more of grilled chicken to match the proportion of the immense salad. There was a nice blend of blue cheese and nuts. I also added avocado, which made the salad delicious! Their bread is also very fresh. Food is ordered at the counter and brought out when it is ready. Customer service was okay. The food was ok, as well. Definitely not worth what we paid for. I think it just costs more because it's in the heart of downtown riverside. The freshly squeezed orange juice, tasted more like nectarines. The sourdough French toast was warm , otherwise good. Needed more powdered sugar. The sticky pecan bun was yummy! The strawberry tart was good as well. Definitely recommend better customer service training for the staff taking the orders. Felt rushed and felt like I couldn't ask much about their pastries. read more

I ordered a mushroom/chicken sausage omelet 8.5/10 (a little too much mushrooms for my liking ) with a granola yogurt bowl 10/10. My fiancé ordered a breakfast croissant Sandwich 9/10 (not a big fan of the chicken sausage but still really good). We will definitely be coming back and adding to our go-to breakfast list! Located in a beautiful spot of downtown Riverside, it's the perfect place to get breakfast with a friend or partner and enjoy the morning. The line was out the door when I had arrived, which is how you know it's good! The staff was very friendly, answering every question we had. There was a wide selection to choose from and if you don't like any named item you can make your own sandwich! They have pastries as well, which were so delicious and a great way to wrap a nice breakfast. One thing I will say is make sure you have the time to sit down and eat because the decor and energy of the restaurant is not one you will want to skip out on. read more

Customer service was great! Woman who took my order was nice and directed me to the register. Cashier was nice and gave me a cookie when I waited a little bit for my hot chocolate. Sandwiches other customers ordered looked delicious and the decor in the small restaurant was nice. Can't wait to come back for a Cobb salad! read more

It was that good that I had to write a review. Dined in for a late lunch today while walking around Downtown. Highly recommend the "Grump's Lunch" pastrami sandwich. Delicious! Very filling that I brought half the sandwich home. A great value for the price. I didn't try the pastries but they looked incredible and had a good variety. HUGE cookies, danishes, and croissants. Will be back next time I'm in Riverside. Solid 4.5/5 read more

Lunch typically starts after 10:30AM. Sometimes they will make cold sandwiches before.
